It's the type of Yandere that it's so funny and smiley that you dont get it at first, he is just to friendly and nice that you don't care about the dizzy feeling on your stomach.

But once you try to get out of the ship, he just convinces you to stay, that's his secret weapon.

Who says that Luffy doesn't know how to manipulate it's wrong, with his childness he can get whatever he wants and that happens to you.

He gets kisses, attetion, cuddles, sex and everything he wants when he says it and you can't say no to him.

Especially on those times you think about leaving, it's like he reads your mind and instantly asks you with a pouty face "you would never leave me, right my darling?"

And of course you cant, you are trapped on his mental games.

Zoro

Very bad at fights, even to the point that he sometimes scares you.

He compensates it with being extra protective, in some occasions too much but you say to yourself that you love that side of him.

If someone lays his eyes on you, especially the cook, he would deadly glare at them and when you aren't looking, he will break the shit out of them.

He tries not ot be that violent next ot you, and even tries to clean the blood.

You sometimes see the blood but you ignore it, the thing you cant ignore is how he yells when he is angry.

Another psychological one but this men plays with your good heart.

He says "without you i have no reason to live", "if you leave me then i may die", "i can't stand living if you aren't there."

At first you thought it was cute and nice and all but then you started to not know where is the limit of the gentle words and a possible threat.

Cause most likely, he wont kill himself cause he would prevent you from leaving any way posible.

And you don't want to find the answer.

Other big aspect of him is that probably he would manipulate your foods like, putting aphrodisiacs or even putting sleeping pills if he thinks you can try something on the night.

Trafalgar Law

Living on a submarine makes its really difficult to leave so... first bad point.

He has a very good case of avoidant attachment which means he doesn't pay attention to you until you feel like crying and being really desperate and that's when he makes time to care about you, but even that saying some mean things like "you are dramatic", "you are overreacting", "it's not that much, you are an attention baby".

But then, when he gets needy it's a different story.

When he wants anything, since he can room you, he gets you to the bedroom and you have to give him what he wants... even when you arent on the mood.

This go forth and back leaves you on an emotion rollercoaster but when he is attentive or when he just relies on you that much, you just love that he goes to you.

After that, you will have to reasure him that you won't leave him, it's the only way he can calm down and so do you.

You have to be careful on how you are with others cause he can misunderstand everything.

Since he is a lot bigger, he likes to toss you around and make you go to bed with him when he needs to, espeacially, when he is angry/needy/urgent he stomps really loud so you are prepared to not resist yourself to his grip, even if you are talking to someone.

A Guide: Encouraging Separation in Plurality

Hello! I'm Ardyn, and I decided to make this guide because after talking to many systems, I've come to realize that moving from a near medianhood to a full multiplicity may encourage better function for certain systems. For us any identity blurriness brings a lot of pain that has been aided by further separation and amnesiac barriers. Before you put an awful judgement on this, remember that healing is different for everyone, and breaking down barriers isn't best for everyone. This is up to the system, there is no guilt on wanting to do what is best for your system.

This guide will hold many different exercises and ideas that have been taken from tulpamancy and my own experiences.

first I'd say get situated with identity grounding and also following the "The Body is a Car" exercise within these sources

Separate Journals/Diaries

A seperate journal or diary that nobody can write in but that headmate is a good way to help a headmate build up their identity. They will be able to write down their own experiences and their own feelings, and this seperate space gives reinforces the idea that they are ultimately apart from you.

Separate Accounts with a Separate Feed

Something that pushed for the blur was having similar feeds, seeing my interest would push me to the front and cause issues for Vincent. He ended up making his own account on reddit where he is able to join subreddits that appeal to solely his interest, and it would help keep him at front instead of pull someone else.

Distinct Hobbies

encourage your headmates to pick up hobbies that are not something you may be interested in, hobbies give way to individuality as now they may seek others who share that hobby or spaces online that appeals to that hobby.

Different Clothing and Ownership

Assign different clothing and other items to headmates, let them pick out their own jacket and may they be the only ones to wear that jacket. Let them have their own perfume, let them have their own bag, let them have their own keychain for the car keys. This won't just give you that barrier, but also can be used as a form of identity grounding during a blur. When in blur, you will be able to tell whose fronting based on what clothing makes you feel more yourself.

Different Friends

This option may be more difficult, but it works very efficiently. Let your headmates have their own friend, I mean it. Giving them someone outside the system that they themselves can solely talk to is absolutely perfect in giving that split. Interacting and communication outside the body and encouraging unmasking will do wonders.

Drop Part Language

If you really want to encourage separation, you will have to drop the idea that you are all pieces of another. This is however a preference, speak to your headmates about it. Speak to them about terms they may prefer, maybe customized role names, let them be themselves. Push to yourself too that these are different people, not parts of you. But like I said, if parts language isn't an issue for you, then you might not have to change after all :P but I recommend it for this all to work.

Identity Separating Exercises

Now as you have pushed the formation of these headmates, now it's your goal to start separating them more and more through these exercises

Remember: Fake it until you make it

Being consistent in these exercises will be great, but you also have to make sure you believe that they are working. Plurality is very much a brain game, you have power over yourself and the more you believe these separations the more they will be. Some of these exercises are purely for pushing the belief, I recommend having a collection of proof on your plurality to refer to whenever you get doubtful.

I also recommend joining a tulpamancy community such as a discord or reddit, even if you don't practice tulpamancy, these people have so much trust in themselves and the process that it starts to rub off on you.

Separation Meditation

If you are able to visualize and even after doing all the above you still feel like your headmate hasn't fully left you, this exercise may be useful. In this meditation, you are to visualize the headmate in front of you. Then repeat "___ is a separate person from me" repeatedly for however long you like once a day.

Discussions

Speak to your headmates, ask questions about their lives

Here is a good source on that

The best route to take is to discuss opinions and specifically focus on what you disagree on, this will reinforce in your mind that this person is not you, this person does not agree with you, this person has their own opinion. Focus on those ideas until they really settle, and maybe also record these disagreements in your proof collection.

Affirmations

If you are a bit too busy for these things, constant affirmation throughout the day are both simple and helpful. Here is a good list

"__ is a seperate person from me"

"the system has entirely different and seperate people"

"___ is real and a seperate person"

"the system is noticeably distinct"

at first it may feel silly, but like I said, fake it until you make it. These will reinforce ideas.

Building Up Amnesiac Barriers

This may be more controversial, but for us these barriers help a ton. I would like to say that we already had blackout amnesia to begin with, but these exercises made them "worse". There are many reasons why a system may want to have higher amnesiac barriers, ours being privacy and independence, try to avoid judgement on this decision. The Switching Guide above also has an exercise that will push lost time.

"Cancel Recall"

When a memory from another headmate tries to seep into your thought process, immediately cover that memory and say to yourself "This memory isn't mine to remember". Perhaps visualize a door closing on it or a lock appearing on that memory. Mentally assign that memory to the correct headmate and move on

Affirmation

Affirmations that may help these barriers can be used situationally, just whenever you try and remember a time another headmate fronted think "No, I don't remember"

Headspace Tools

If you have a headspace, try using creation. Imagine cutting memory ties off with everyone else that can only temporarily be connected when agreed upon by both parties. Maybe also set up a headspace memory lock system.

Using Remnants left behind

When I say this I mean use something such as text messages a headmate left behind and when scrolling through them, focus and think "This wasn't me, I don't remember typing this".

Memory Redirection

Most times it's harder to push a memory away than just redirect it. When redirecting memory, for example you start to remember something another headmate did in meatspace, recite "that wasn't me, what did I do during this time" and attempt to recall your time within the headspace instead.

FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT, REMEMBER THAT

"You need to be faster 013" He responded and you could hear the smile on his face as you repositioned yourself waiting for the next order.

Player 055 You took the shot it pierced the guy's heart. You cursed yourself mentally since it would mean less organs.

Player 405 You saw the male go down with a clean shot to the head

"You are welcome Sweetheart" His voice came once again and you had to bite down your lip to prevent the smile

"About what? You just disposed a good body" You responded looking once again as the doll sang

"And you shot one down throw the heart. Its that an indirect for me?" He joked to you as he positioned himself once more

"Im counting 14 on my side. Whats yours?" You asked to stop him from going further not that you were not liking it

A whistle rang throw your ear pircing it. "I believe we are on a tie Sweetheart. Maybe we should look for a new way on breaking this"

You could hear a small "why dont they fuck and be done" by other Guard. You felt pity for the rest. This has been going since you joined the games as a Guard.

Player 127 You were already on him shooting down at his feet then at his knee. You saw another one fall not to far away.

"15 and 15 Sweetheart, I know you can do better" His taunting yet alluring voice said

"Are going to let me win this round?" You asked back checking one again and shooting off when the voice ordered

"Temping. But I believe we should set a reward for the one who wins" Another one down "What are you doing after this" He taunted knowing fully well you two needed to follow protocol.

"Oh, I will be going out to dance tonight" You followed his joke hitting another player "Do you think you could follow my moves?"

"Sweetheart for you? I would follow anything" He flirted "I should be telling you that I dance hard, and I get that a lot"

Player 400 He was double shot by you and him and you had to bite down a laught from the side comments of the others.

The next song would be the last one and the reminded players behind the lines would be shot down. This was the last chance to break the tie. And you knew most Guards would let you and him have your own fun. You two were the best snipers of the Guards after all, all of them did bet on who would take down the most players. Even if they had to tolerate the flirting.

The Doll stopped and you wasted no time in taking down the rest of the players. You die not see their numbers or faces. For a lont time now you had detached yourself from it.

"Guards, collect your weapons and retire to your rooms. This time Guard 013 its the Guard with more kills followed by 033"

"Better luck next time 033" You called as you tucked down your gun and prepared to leave.

"Such a cold heart. Does this mean I dont get to dance with you tonight?" He asked, him pulling away his own weapon. His mind imagining yourself under the uniform and under him.

"You can knock yourself and figure it out" You responded "A warning, im a difficult dancer" You finally said pulling your mask back on.

"Oh, I would not have you any other way Sweetheart. Cant wait"

The doors opened and all of you stepped out. You could see his figure a few guards in front of you. He was all rigid and ready to follow the Square Guard orders.

It was small, very subtle but when you passed by him as he left his riffle you felt his gloved hand on you. A shiver down your spine by the idea of him coming to your room tonight.

It was luck the Front Man or other Guards seemed not to care at all. Hell maybe you two would be recorder and then the recording would be sold on the dark web.

Just as the door was closing behind you it was pushed open, guard 033 was there uniform still on. The door was pushed closed as he removed his mask and black cloth, his eyes full with desire were the first thing you saw and the messy hair.

He was on you in an instant pulling your own mask off and the cloth kissing your lips like he was starved from them. He caressed your sides urging you to get out from the uniform as he bite down on your lower lip. A suprised gasp left your mouth and he wasted no time in pushing his tongue inside. It explored yours, you got a small groan from him as you pulled his hair.

Still kissing he pushed you onto the bed, getting between your legs to let you feel just how much he wanted you. He licked your cheeck and bite down on the little flesh the uniform let see.

Moaning you removed your gloves to feel his hair now on your skin taking a mental note on how soft it was. When you feel his teeth on you, you pulled at his hair again harder getting now a full moan out of him.

That night at dinner, you brought it up to your parents and Oh they were pissed. Your fathers face went pale and he just stared at you. It was so spooking. He says your full name and then bangs his fist on the table. "DANG NABBIT GIRL, YOU JUST TURNED SIXTEEN AND YOU THINK YOU CAN GO AND HAVE A BABY WITH THAT DUMBASS?! WHYYYY III OUGHTAAA!!" He said a lot of other stuff but you tuned him out, trying not to laugh and cry at the same time.

Your mom calms him down and takes him to the room. After, she came back and sat next to you. "Sweetheart, In no way am I happy about this.. but im glad you said something instead of trying to keep it a secret." She holds your hand. "We'll support you through this, baby girl." She kisses it. "Just let your daddy calm down, okay? He won't let you go through this alone." She says.

4 months, and your belly was already showing a little bit. Scott always loved to kiss it, rub it with his palm, and gently lay his cheek or the side of his face against it. He liked how warm it was all the time.

Scott lays the side of his face on your belly as you two are laid on the couch. He was on top of your legs, a blanket pulled over you as your fingers were running through his hair. The TV was on, playing your favorite show that you've watched so many times already. Scott was watching it with you, but he had fallen asleep. When you notice, you smile and quickly snap a photo and then set it as your lockscreen. How cute!

"you look really good for being pregnant." He says hours later when he's awake and back in your room. "So, other pregnant women dont look good?" you questioned. "Uh, I didn't exactly say that, but.. yeah." He huffs and kisses your belly. "I dunno why, but I like you pregnant." He had a weird thing for the line on your abdomen. He was always staring at it and tracing it with his thumb. #Weirdo

How Scott would react to having a boy:

He would be so thrilled. Happy out of his mind. He could teach his little man how to play sports just like him. He would dress him up in jerseys and beanies. His son would have the nicest shoes even as a toddler. Cool jewlery, nice haircuts, good hygiene—he'd be the best boy dad. Well, let's be honest. Scott wouldn't be an out of this world dad, but he would be a good one. Never missing his sons practices, not yelling at him 24/7.

When his son is old enough, he'd tell him how to catch a ladys eyes. He wouldn't go too far since his son would be 13. But he'd at least say the obvious: Always smell nice, act nice, never pressure a girl into anything, and NEVER get one pregnant. He told his son how exhausting, expensive, and hard it is to be a teen parent.

Teen years are the worst but also the best. Your son has his attention, and that is just so damn annoying. He's also stubborn. You're always fighting with your son, and Scotts is always fighting with him, too. The boys fight more, though. About dishes, laundry, respect for you and him, curfew, grades—the whole shebang. He doesn't abuse his son. He would never. But if your son were to EVER disrespect you (like trying to hit you or call you something like 'bitch' or 'stupid') He'd smack the shit out of the boy. Sometimes, when he's being a smart-ass, he'll backhand him on the back of the neck.

Scott and 16 year old Junior were playing basketball at the park on a Friday afternoon. Junior was doing really well until a few cute girls from his school were passing by. Junior, being a perv just like his dad used to be, was staring at their asses. He was guarding really bad and hardly made any baskets. Scott looked over to what was distracting his son so much, and he literally rolled his eyes and sighed. He understood what it was like to be a teenager with hormones, but really? When they're playing basketball? "Hey," Scott nudges Junior. "Focus here, boy." He hands the ball to him. "You can look at them when you start playing like you actually know how."

How Scott would react to having a girl:

He wouldn't be as excited as he'd be if you were having a boy. Would he be happy?... um. Next question. But either way, he still loves your little girl. Dressing her in cute outfits, letting you teach him how to do her hair, playing dress up and with dolls (in secret), tea parties, and watching princess movies. He loves spoiling his baby girl.

When your girl was 13, Scott didn't give her the privilege to date boys. "Not until you're older than.." he looks over to you. "Her!" Scott cracks a smile but is still serious. You raise an eyebrow at Scott, but let him finish his whole: you're too young to be thinking of boys, you just finished using training bras. Making your daughter cringe.

Scott wouldn't really mind having a tom-boy, but he would prefer his baby to stay girly. He doesn't care about her wearing makeup. She just can't do too much, or else she'll "look like a skank." Crop tops? Whatever, to be honest. He would rather his girl actually dress like one instead of wanting to wear pjs all the time. Here and there, it's fine, but all the damn time? Ew.

He's always buying her things and taking her out for daddy-daughter dates. He holds her hand no matter how old she is. That's still his little girl! And no one could say otherwise.

"Stay still, im almost done." He's trying to do her hair. "Can mommy do it instead!! You're hurting me, Daddy!" The little girl whines, trying to soothe her scalp with her finger. "Fine.." He gives up and sighs, picking her up and taking her to the room where you were doing your makeup. Todays plans were to go watch a movie, shop, and then eat. "Babe, can you do it? I keep hurting her. I feel bad." Scott says and puts her down. "Please, momma! Daddy doesn't know how." She pouts her lips at you. You add lip gloss and then look at your daughter and then Scott. "Of course I can, cutie." You smile.

Scott was offended by how easy you did the girls hair. "Are you kidding me? That took you like 10 seconds!" He complains. "Scott.. it was just a ponytail."

He stands there until your daughter runs back to him and tugs on his pants to pick her up. "Well exCUSE me." He rolls his eyes and picks the toddler off of the ground and returns to the living room.

Shopping for baby clothes gives him a rush, making him nervous. He's really taking in whats happening.

"These are so cute!" You squeal at the small mittens on display. "Gloves? Why do babies need gloves?" He raises his eyebrow. "So that they dont scratch themselves and stuff. It helps them stay warm, too." You smile at him. "Atleast make sure we dont buy any ugly ones, then. Hot pink is a no." He hugs you from behind, caressing your belly.

"Oh my God. I remember watching this." He takes a winnie the pooh onesie in his hand. "We're taking it. Its cute." He adds it to the cart.

This guys likes spending his money on you and baby. He feels responsible and like a good dad already. Speaking of good dad.. hes afraid he'll be a bad one. But hes not. Thats #cool

Hes so embarrassed when he sees people from his school in the stores you're at. Some people just sode eye him cause they dont really know who you are. You didn't go to the same school as him. So of course they're gonna stare when they see a guy from school with some random ass pregnant girl.

Not many knew he even had a girlfriend, but thanks to the group of girls that saw you that day at the store, everyones knows your business. Or they assumed, actually. Scott kept to himself anyway, so its not like he was talking to everyone about his and your situation. When people stare at him in school, he ignores it. And by the time your belly was starting to really show, you switched to online classes.

Almost a year after your kid was born, he switched to a school that offered an early graduation if you have enough credits.

thoughts on the astarion-halsin polymance

i know some people dont like the halsin polymance specifically if the PC's other partner is astarion but. i want to talk about it. because i think maybe a lot of people have come to conclusions without seeing the scenes in question for themselves. so let me give a different perspective.

disclaimers: *i know a lot of people ship/hc this polymance as a triad, but for the purposes of this post i'm talking specifically about the "hinge" dynamic we see in-game thx. **also i got the halsin romance trigger before completing astarion's personal quest, so this post is talking about that perspective, and all quotes are from those conversations. ***i respect people who dont play this route. you're allowed to play this game however you want. the purpose of this post is to discuss the canon, in-game text and how it supports the astarion-halsin polymance as a viable and healthy path for these relationships, with nuance and respect to astarion's personal issues. this is not meant to convert anyone, but it is meant to clarify and provide additional context that i feel is largely missing from a lot of discussions about how the polymance is "bad", unilaterally.

let's start with halsin, because i think he's the easier perspective to tease out here, given that he really leaves nothing to the imagination. he's incredibly earnest and open, and will happily describe his perspective on non-monogamy right out the gate. as he says...

The wolf mates for life, but the bear roams free and partners as its instinct dictates. I need to stay true to my nature, and you to yours.

now, to get ahead of potential backlash here... if you haven't spent a lot of time with halsin, particularly if you've never flirted with him, that line may imply that he's a "player". he is not. given the context of the PCs interactions with him up to this point (and how he treats the relationship after, if you confirm the romance), halsin is deeply devoted, and has really strong feelings for the PC. it's really sweet, i highly recommend romancing him, either as a polymance or solo.

what he's describing here is a perspective of cultural non-monogamy. that he believes his feelings are not diminished by having multiple relationships at the same time, and he expects that if the PC agrees to a relationship with him that they will respect his freedom to pursue others when/if such feelings arise, just as he will respect the PC's freedom to continue and/or pursue other relationships as well. it's a really succinct and frankly unexpectedly respectful negotiation of the terms of a polyam relationship.

and that respect is evident from the get go. if you've never seen this conversation, it basically opens with him saying "hey, i have these feelings about you, i was wondering if you maybe felt the same," and if the PC says that they do, he immediately acknowledges the existing relationship and tells the PC that they can't move forward without consent. and you cant; speaking to halsin again just has him ask the PC if they've spoken to their other partner yet. at every turn, halsin is incredibly respectful of the PCs other partner, he never diminishes that relationship, nor does he expect the PC to ever place him above that relationship. he even says:

Indeed, I am but one of your lovers. You and I should seek happiness, wherever it lies. You are all I want, but I will not hoard you to myself.

he makes it very clear from the get-go that he has no designs on the PC's other relationship and that he is more than happy to take whatever they want to give him.

which leads me to my overarching point: astarion is consenting to this dynamic specifically because the other person in question is halsin.

and we know this for a few reasons. first, because.... mechanically in game, he's the only person you can romance at the same time as astarion. while astarion mentions at various points that he is fine with "arrangements", generally speaking, every other potential romance partner results in a "you have to choose one of us" conversation. the reason astarion gives for why the PC has to choose varies, i believe, but since i don't have the dialogue on hand (i have been faithful as hell in my playthrough) i won't speculate about those conversations.

however, we also know that astarion is consenting to an arrangement with halsin specifically because of this line:

The druid is unique. He has a lot of experience with this type of arrangement. Thus, I'm sure it would be quite a harmless affair.

which is interesting, isn't it? hold onto this one, we'll circle back to it later. and then of course, the other line we need to discuss from astarion here is the famously controversial...

It's not because… you know… we haven't… in a while?

so this is where i get into the potentially controversial take that i have, because it's more nuanced than arguments i've seen on either side of the pro-/anti- polymance debate. but basically i think that astarion is... insecure. shocker, i know. but unlike some takes i've seen, i dont think this means he can't consent to a polyam relationship, i think it means that he has certain Conditions related to it, that he has decided have been met. and i think those conditions are as follows:

the PC's interest in halsin is not borne out of any deficiency of astarion's.

this is why he asks the famous question. he's insecure, and making sure that the PC's interest in halsin is not because astarion is failing to "satisfy" them, that it's not because he isn't enough. astarion has a lot of self-worth issues that he tries really hard to hide, and i think it would be easy for him to think that the PC starting another relationship could be a result of him being... insufficient.

for people who have never been in a polyam relationship, this is a thing. this is an important thing, and making sure all of your partners feel that they're valued and "enough" is an important part of navigating these relationships. astarion does the right thing here, by expressing his insecurity and asking for reassurance. and when the PC gives it to him, the relief is evident and he gives consent to the dynamic immediately. not because he's been coerced, but because he's been reassured.

PC: Gods, I don't want you to think that for a moment. Astarion: I know I was being foolish. But thank you for saying it.

the second condition is:

that he is still a priority

this is pretty self explanatory but since it's sort of the clincher for my whole argument here, i do have to say the quiet part out loud. i dont think what astarion wants or needs is to be the PC's only partner. he talks about "arrangements" on multiple occasions, i dont think he has a problem with sharing. what i do think he wants is to be the PC's primary partner. what he's consenting to, in my view, is hierarchical polyamory, to use the proper term. as in, the PC can fool around with whoever they want, even have feelings for other people, so long as they always come back to astarion. he needs to feel like he is secure and valued above others as he values them above others. he needs to feel like the PC isn't going anywhere.

and that's why he consents to an arrangement with halsin, but no one else. because all of the other romance options, the origin companions, would want to be equal with astarion, they would want non-hierarchical polyamory. halsin, on the other hand, is all about taking what can be given and having a more fluid understanding of relationships. he doesn't care if he's #1, he cares that the PC cares about him, right now. no formal definitions or obligations required.

that's what astarion means when he says "the druid is unique." that's what he means when he says "he has a lot of experience with this type of arrangement." that's what he means when he says it will be a "harmless affair." because he knows halsin is never going to try to take the PC away from him. he knows halsin isn't going to be a threat to him and his status with his partner. and that's why he's comfortable saying yes, even though he says no to every other possible arrangement.

it's not because he was coerced. it's not because he doesn't know how to say no. it's because he feels safe. and that's what we want.

some additional notes while i'm here...

on jealousy: a lot of people hc astarion as the jealous type, as perhaps a little possessive, and i am also one of those people. it makes sense; he's a guy who hasn't had anything in 200 years, and the PC is the first person he's cared about like this. i can definitely see him being a little possessive and prone to jealousy. but stepping outside of the realm of fiction, jealous/possessive feelings are often the result of insecurity and in real relationships should absolutely not be used as a tool to control the behaviour of another partner. and, crucially, jealous/possessive feelings are a thing to be talked about and worked through, not tip-toed around. the presence of those feelings does not automatically mean that a polyamorous relationship is impossible, it just means there's another thing to talk about, and by astarion consenting to the PC having another relationship, he's pretty clearly saying he's willing to talk through those feelings and work on them.

on the ability to consent: i know that astarion doesn't talk about his feelings enough. but i truly dont think that this is a case of astarion saying yes when he means no. astarion can say no, even in high pressure situations he wasn't expecting. he says no to the astral-touched tadpole (rather firmly, i might add), he says no to sleeping with the drow twins, etc. the scene that most people use as proof that astarion cannot consent happens in a much different emotional context, with a lot of direct coercion, and is followed by astarion taking back personal control and dumping the PC. that is not what happens in this scene, when astarion is consenting to a polyamorous relationship. there is no coercion (in fact the PC can explicitly say "i wouldn't even consider it if it bothered you", and astarion expected the conversation, so he would have been able to prepare his thoughts and feelings ahead of time. at no point does he say no or even imply he's not okay with an arrangement with halsin.

on timing: ive seen some people say that they would be more okay with the astarion-halsin polymance if all of this was not be happening right now. i agree with that. ideally, astarion would have more time to adjust to his relationship before it was opened up at all. but because this is a video game, everything is happening during the events of the game. and because this is a video game, the events of the game are high pressure and wild and everything is happening all at once. i don't blame people who elongate the timeline in fan content, or who turn down halsin because they think its "too soon." thats actually very explicitly something halsin says when he initially propositions the player - that he hopes it isn't "too soon." however, astarion still consents (see point above), and relationships barely ever have good timing. one could argue that even the solomance with astarion does not have good timing, when considering astarion's trauma and recovery. so. we make do. and i think it would be... a disservice? to what is (in my opinion) really good polyam writing to just say "actually it's all terrible and icky because there's a lot going on right now" and dismiss it out of hand.

Finnick rolls up the sleeves to his white dress-shirt, and fixes his collar before leaving the en-suite and heading into your shared bedroom. “Are you ready yet, angel? I know dinner is at Peeta and Katniss’ place, but Johanna will throw a fit if we’re late.”

You chuckle under your breath but don’t look away from your reflection in the mirror. A concealer stick is balanced between your fingertips as you apply the make-up to your face. “Yeah, I know, I know. I’ll be ready in a second. Just need to finish this.”

Finnick hums and sits down on the edge of the bed, watching you watch yourself in the vanity mirror. A frown tugs at the corners of his pink lips as he mulls his question over in his head. “Angel?” 

You hum to show you’re listening. 

“Can I ask you something?” His voice is casual, but there’s a more serious undertone hidden in there that you have to be really listening for to hear. 

You hum again and spare him a glance before going back to your reflection. “Course you can.”

Finnick hesitates, but he knows that he has to ask. If he doesn’t, it’ll just nag him for the rest of the night. “Why do you do that?” 

Your brows furrow ever so slightly. “Do what, babe?”

“Why do you cover your scar when we go out?” He can see your shoulders tense up as you sigh and cap the concealer stick. He rushes to backtrack, making sure to keep his voice soft and gentle. “I don’t want you to think I’m judging you or trying to berate you or anything like that. I’m not. I’m just… curious, is all.”

You purse your lips and lift your shoulders up into a shrug. “I don’t know, really.” 

Finnick doesn’t believe you, and it’s clear with the way he arches a brow. Still, he doesn’t call you out on it; he really doesn’t want to make it seem like he is on your case, because the truth is, he isn’t trying to be. He keeps his mouth zipped shut and waits to see if you elaborate. 

It takes a minute for you to start talking again, and he can tell theres a nervous, almost vulnerable, edge to your voice when you speak again. 

“I just… I’m sick of it being the first thing people see when they look at me. I’m sick of the constant questions that come with it and feeling like I’m an animal to be ogled at in a zoo. I’m fed up of feeling like it makes me less of a person; like the fucking scar is my only distinguishable feature. It makes me feel like I’m not worthy of love and I’m not pretty and—”

“Angel.” Finnick cuts you off firmly but gently, and pulls your chair over to the edge of the bed. His legs are sandwiched between yours as he reaches up and cups your face in his hands. “I need you to listen to me for a minute. You think you can do that?” 

You huff out a sigh, but nod your head nonetheless.

“Your scar does not make you unlovable or any less gorgeous. Your scar is part of who you are, and I get that it can suck at times but it doesnt make me think any less of you. In fact, I think it makes you even hotter.”

“I wasn’t fishing for compliments.” You insist, but he gives your face a gentle squeeze and you quieten down after that. 

“I know. I know that isn’t what you were doing, my love, but I need you to know that I dont see you any differently just because of a damn scar.” He pauses to take a breath. “You wanna know what I see when I look at you?” He doesn’t wait for an answer. “I see a gorgeous, beautiful, strong, stubborn woman who I couldn’t be any more in love with.” He smiles. “I think it’s badass, anyway.”

You quirk a brow. “You’re not just saying this to make me feel better, right?”

Finnick scoffs. “Come on, angel, when have you known me to sugar coat the truth just to make you feel better?” 

You sigh. “Fair point, well made.” 

Finnick pulls you closer until you’re straddling his waist. He kisses your forehead and murmurs, “So, how would you feel about taking off that concealer while we go out tonight?” He can feel you tense in his arms and he rushes to reassure you. “You don’t have to, angel. There’s no pressure.” 

You sigh and relax in his arms. “Fine. But if anyone says anything, I get to make up a really bizarre story on how I got it and you have to go along with it.” 

Finnick laughs. “Deal.”
