Controversial? opinion but I actually really like Astarion's chaste little kiss, because it isn't a performance. It isn't at all the way he would've kissed you in Act 1. And yeah it doesn't have lingering touches like Karlach's kiss animation or extreme passion like Halsin's, but it feels true for him. It feels real.

It's quick and sweet, maybe a little uncomfortable or uncertain. He approaches Tav and takes the lead, which I love, but he's still figuring this all out. It's so new. He's in the process of defining his boundaries, what he wants and needs physically+emotionally in a relationship. The kiss is intimate but there's space too, and that's okay.

me when the campaign with characters i’ve praised for being essentially pawns/npcs in the greater world is ending by underserving the main characters by [checks notes] highlighting the role those characters have played as quasi-npcs who are nonetheless still the narrators of their destinies within the limits of a world beyond their control

i adore how quick the boys are to help crutchie when he needs it. no discussion, no pity, just support.

when morris pushes him over, it isn't jack (who is right there) who helps him up, neither is it race nor romeo, who we saw him interact with earlier in the song. it's albert who helps him up, and it's albert who carries him until he gets his crutch back. did they have a system? was it albert's job to carry crutchie when needed? was it because they're close friends, and we just never get to see it again? or was it that any of the newsies would have done it, but albert happened to be the closest?

when the nuns hand out food, kid blink and smalls don't hesitate before hoisting him onto their shoulders. jack and specs both place their hands on his back to ensure that he doesn't fall backwards. it's so smooth, so natural, like they've done it a million times before.

and note: i don't think crutchie interacts with any of those characters (albert, kid blink, smalls) at any other moment in the musical.

conclusion: crutchie is so so loved.

Seeing people say that we never see the Doctor and Ruby talking for more than 30 seconds makes me think 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble has just clouded their memories because the first four episodes of this era are almost nothing but the Doctor and Ruby talking and bonding.

Yeah, the Doctor-lite episodes meant we haven't had as much lately, but so many are going on as there's been none at all, as if every episode before 73 Yards was like Rogue where they were mostly separated in their own plotlines.

I keep turning this idea around in my head and I need to get it out

post-The Search For Spock Kirk ending up at some 20th/21st century museum through some time travel shenanigans and ending up in front of a painting of Orpheus and Eurydice. He stare at it for a long time until, eventually some other attendant makes some small talk, talking about they always loved this myth. Kirk tells them that he’s not too familiar with the story but he likes the painting. That it feels very emotional, somehow. The attendant seems surprised at this admission and starts to explain, very happy to do so. They explain Orpheus’s love for Eurydice, how he followed her to the underworld to bring her back from the dead and his deal with Hades. “He couldn't hear her footsteps. He tried to call for her but she didn't respond and he got scared, y'know? So eventually..." and Kirk nods with an understanding they couldn't possibly comprehend

"He looked back" he finishes for them

The other attendant laughs a little, like they find it both silly and obvious "Of course he looked back. He loved her too much not to. That's the tragedy, I guess." and with that, they walk away, conversation decidedly over.

Kirk looks back at the painting. He looks at the painting for a very very long time. He looked back, huh?

I massively hate myself for putting this out into the universe, but what if Tim talking about a tree falling in relation to Eddie is actually a reference to Abuela dying? 😭😭😭

That this pillar of his life - someone who has supported him and loved him - the matriarch of the family - is going to die and leave him feeling uprooted and lost.

Narratively it would make sense as it can help Eddie and Chris reconnect and also play into the Shannon of it all at the same time - as well as helping build into queer Eddie and buddie!

Love that the team continued to uphold Lloyd being extremely mentally unwell at all times. Barely functioning but insisting its fine. Plagued by the visions™. Legitimately had a panic attack when everything started to go wrong. Completely willing to fuck over his entire physiology with weird dragon magic because "yeah that'll probably be helpful later". Waking up screaming and shrugging because its totally normal to have nightmares that horrifying on the regular. A+ on this assignment lads, you've broken Lloyd down to his bare essentials.
