Appreciate the industry perspective. I did some airport security a few years back, so I would see the aircrews coming in and yeah kinda a “boys are pilots, girls are stewardesses” thing going on.

I assumed that it was in large part because the military is a big part of the feeder system for the industry, and the whole “military is required to discriminate against women in training and promotion” thing affects the percentage of available women they train, and also that plus the military culture dissuades women from joining, so there’s just a lot fewer women getting taxpayer funded flight school and hours than men.

Women rarely fought in historical armies (as far as we can tell), but there are (an astonishing number of) (astonishing) exceptions!
