Mikey and Leo episode centered around Mikey wanting to push Leo and Draxum together since Leo’s the most reluctant to give Draxum any grace (for good reason!) But, thinking on the spot, Leo says he’s gotta go do something for Hueso and “just can’t hang out right now 😔” (yes, he says the emoji out loud.)

Mikey calls his bluff and now the three of them (Mikey having grabbed a weary Draxum along) go to Hueso’s to find that yes, he actually does have a job for him. Said job asks for Leo to go with Hueso to deliver multiple pizzas to this giant yokai quite a distance away, and Hueso figured it would probably go better with Leo’s help (emphasis on probably.)

Well, Mikey decides that this would be a great bonding opportunity for them and basically invites he and Draxum along. Unfortunately for Leo, Hueso doesn’t care enough to wave away more help, though he does side-eye the wanted criminal Baron Draxum coming with them. But who is he to judge? (This choice has consequences.)

The journey goes about as terribly as you’d expect, but at least the pizzas get delivered on time.

dont give up on yourself or on other people just because there are awful people doing terrible things out there. shitty people do a lot of damage, but giving up in desperation and defeat only helps their cause, it’s what they want you do. you can still believe in a better world and do what you can to help people in need. you still have your own power, even if it’s smaller in comparison, don’t relinquish it to them too. we’re not giving up, we’re holding on to each other, because there are still good people out there and we must to hold on to our humanity in times where others seem to have completely lost theirs.

After seeing all these Orbo defense posts on tumblr circulating around, I’d thought maybe the clips I’d watched had been taken out of context.

And they were, but the context actually made him look worse.

Yes, Scarab should not be neglecting his other summons (or manhunting people, though I don’t think that’s what Orbo seems to take issue with) but…he is correct in that multidimensional fuckery is not. safe. Or at least, he’s had it drilled into his head that it’s not safe. Like being a god auditor is. His job.

When Scarab tells Orbo about Prismo’s unauthorized universe, Orbo’s response? “Prismo? Nah. That guy’s cool.” Immediately showing right off the bat that he will and does play favorites. If he’s able to pull Scarab from whatever universe he wants after being able to tell that he was neglecting his other calls, how is he NOT able to tell that Prismo created an entire unauthorized universe in the first place? And when he DOES find out, does he believe Scarab? No, because “Prismo’s cool and would never do that.”

And like. Scarab clearly knows he would react this way. Even if Scarab DOES have a vendetta against Prismo because he wanted to be wishmaster, he’s right (or has been taught by the same system that he is right) that an unauthorized universe without proper precautions IS DANGEROUS. But he knows Orbo wouldn’t believe him, so he wants to talk to the Upper boss. And Orbo physically prevents him from doing that. Which to me, reeks of a bad middle management who doesn’t want to get caught being bad at his job and playing favorites, so he keeps his employees from alerting someone in a higher position of power. He physically pulls Scarab into a different room and says “you can make your case to me.”

And when Scarab does “make his case” to Orbo, Orbo responds with. “Say goodbye to your legs.” Like. I do not fucking care actually if he was joking around or trying to be funny but I am of the opinion that it’s WILDLY inappropriate to threaten your employees in AMY situation, and scarab CLEARLY did not take it as a joke. And he really only stops when the upper boss DOES call, THEN he backs off.

And it doesn’t really matter whether Scarab “deserved” to be taken down a notch, because like. Orbo was STILL a bad boss and did it in ENTIRELY the wrong way and still chose to play favorites, AND it is, in fact, Scarab’s fucking job to deal with this kind of multiverse shit, which he points out, which Orbo has NO comeback to except to threaten his LEGS.

Also to me, Orbo reads like a boss who’s trying to be Cool and Relatable and is like “this isn’t just a workplace guys it’s a Family :)” which is the biggest red flag a boss could ever have.

I fully expect the shitheel techbro CEO to come back from his sabbatical (if he ever manages to log the fuck off in the first place) in a few months and whine about how all the people that were mean to him :(((( just prove that this site’s userbase is simply too hostile for him to successfully turn a profit on, and this debacle will be the excuse automattic uses to justify shutting down the site. I’d honestly bet money on it.

I saw that post going around about all this saying ‘when automattic sells tumblr’ which is a nice thought but also misguided. Automattic isn’t going to sell tumblr. No one else would buy it. Especially not now when the tech bubble is bursting. The maintenance costs for this site are astronomical and automattic bought it for a rock bottom price. When automattic (or rather just Matt himself) decides they’re done, the site will just get phased out.

And now it seems incredibly likely that when the site dies it’ll go out due to one multimillionaire’s oversized ego, latent unexamined transmisogyny and whorephobia, and inability to reflect on why a social media ceo personally banning users who said something mildly critical about him like the worst parody of a forum mod gone power mad isn’t effective site moderation.

Here’s hoping he at least gets sued into public disgrace for discrimination and data privacy violation in the process.
