My favorite Dream video ever is The Truth.

I know, I know: why

It’s such a beautiful video. It is so well done, well thought out, with so many great visuals and audio clips. That video single-handedly told every creator who thought it was easy to pick on him to shut up and leave him alone. He kicked ass and took names with that video, and I’m so proud of him for it.

It’s also the video that got us the Drummy Scar, and any of my friends can attest that I am super normal and not super horny about it. Moreover, we got to see Teen Dream, which is always a delight :)

Moyo is easier to love bc (if u follow the actor he is great and that softens u to his on screen persona & also) he shared the screen with a completely abhorent character so he became more tolerable by default. In general tho, Moyo is a terribly written character and the actor seriously got the short straw playing him. Moyo is a bully. A homophobic, arrogant, ignorant misogynistic bully. But wtfock eased up on those traits in s4 in favor of him being used and verball abused by Kato.

Okay so this got a lot longer than I anticipated, and tbh idek if it all makes sense because I woke up like 20 minutes ago and was gonna go back to sleep bc is literally 5 am, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this ask so I had to answer it. So, I’m putting the rest of the answer under a cut. Thank you for the ask, nonnie 💙

No, like you’re 100% right, which is honestly I think part of why I do love him in a way as well? Like tbh, in looking back, s4 isn’t even that surprising because wtFOCK has just been horribly racist in their portrayal of Moyo since the very beginning. Making one of their ONLY black central characters such a homophobic and misogynistic bully is truly one of the worst decisions they made in the first three seasons. Sure, are there black men like Moyo out there that exist? Definitely, but that doesn’t mean giving one of your few black characters on screen those traits and putting him in opposition to one of the fan favorites — because what did they seriously think was gonna happen when the Skam fandom got ahold of a black man bullying their favorite white boy? — was a good thing.

Which is also why I phrased my post the way I did — I never fully LIKED Moyo, to clarify, but I also never hated him, either, and the reason for that is because I knew that he deserved better than what the writers were doing to him. It’s the same reason I don’t completely hate Britt despite the writers apparently planning on villianizing her for a third fucking season. They’re teenagers, a black teenage boy and a teenage girl, and they don’t deserve the shitty and lazy writing that the wtFOCK writers have put them through.

And back to Moyo, I do think he did get better as time went on. Moyo’s learning curve in s3 definitely wasn’t very well written, but it was also written that he learned from his mistakes in the way he treated Robbe at the very least. Like the way that their friendship has progressed shows this as well. But that doesn’t erase his misogyny, either. He’s even still making ridiculously sexist comments at the beginning of s4! And despite that me, and a lot of other people, were able to sympathize and fall in love with Moyo during s4. And I do agree that that definitely has to do with putting with in opposition to Katastrophe, but they also made him a love interest. The point was to fall in love with him and tbh that’s the one thing that wtFOCK succeeded at with s4.

To clarify, that’s not me giving them ANY sort of credit. Because if anything the fact that they made me fall in love with Moyo makes me even more angry. Because not only were they able to actually make him a likable character, which they should have been trying to do from s1 instead of making him so hated, but it also just proves the wasted potential he had. Noa’s a great actor! Moyo was such a compelling character, with his mother, his brother, his job, and even from the fucking issues he had! They could have given him s4 and actually made it deal with his homophobia and misogyny, his toxic masculinity, his issues with his family, and the racism he faces. There is SO MUCH there to make a season about and instead we got Cactus.

This got long, but basically I completely agree with you and it pisses me off that the wtFOCK writers are so lazy and bad at their fucking jobs.

I joined the fandom later (2023) and was never able to catch his brief streams :(
