Requisit northern lights photo, because I'm absolutely certain you don't have enough magenta in your feeds. I'm going to be honest: I took this during the second wave of activity very early this morning, and ya'll, I didn't see a bloody thing in the sky. Obviously, it was there because here's camera proof.* It was quite odd, seeing something on the screen that wasn't obvious in real life. Oftentimes I see a scene and the photo just isn't able to translate whatever was going on in my head when I shot it. In this case, it was the photos doing all the translation. I have a lot more, but they all look pretty much the same. What was much more interesting was the little kabal of excited, young photographers watching the sky with me. None of us knew each other at 23:00 on The Perch (excluding two siblings), but by almost three in the morning, we were all comparing shots not only of the current sky, but storm shots over time as well. I was the proxy mom in the group. They were delightfully awed by what was happening and it was fun to watch and be a part of. Anyway. That's my aurora tale and I've officially marked the phenomenon on my photo bingo card. I need some super-strange moon this year so I can have an astrological-pic trifecta.

*Light pollution? Who knows.

having good & true friends will literally save and protect you in a million unfathomable ways. like okay we have written so many times about lovers. but the way a platonic friend laughs and cries with you. the way they hold your hand at 14 years old and at 34. the way they keep a little silver tie to you, touching base over and over and over. how you can go years without talking, only to re-meet and discover: oh shit! you're still cool!

there are people who have been in my life for more than half of it, and i have loved every version of them. do you know how fucking beautiful that is. yeah love will save the world. but the way friends love you is gonna save the you.

kind of infuriating how majority of childhood games work on the basis of “hunt and catch” or “run/escape danger” when i never use these skills in adult life smh

Neopets is so funny right now. It's a 24-year-old website and half its pages haven't been updated in 15 years. Its ostensible audience is children. The core active audience appears to be nostalgic 20-40-year-olds. Old code means no accounts or pets can ever be renamed. The virtual pound is full of virtual pets named after Justin Bieber. It has an economy and inflation is rampant. New ownership is combating this with the stimulus of random super-rare items via daily quests and events, while the equivalent of Neopian Upper-Crust complain that their investments are deflating. You can't say seaweed or grapes.

my coworker, who is turning 50, said the best thing to me today..... he was talking about how he remembers when lewis was the first driver to really be a "celebrity" and get in on the fashion trends, celeb girlfriends, met gala, etc etc. and i'm thinking he's gonna say something uncool abt the young drivers or something but then he goes "and i'm just so glad that this new generation of drivers are all..... really weird." and he is so right. they are so weird and it rocks
