No, no, compliments lack the bait aspect.
Likewise, insults wouldn't be considered rage bait. Rage bait requires leaving out something temptingly infuriating. The target has to engage with it on their own, thereby generating their own rage. That's what makes it so efficient.
There are psychological reasons why rage baiting is more successful than happy baiting, but that's irrelevant and shouldn't stop us from trying.
You know what I think this site actually got pretty close to it before

(by kodas)
Instead of rage baiting we shod do a thing called happy baiting where we bait someone into feeling happy and confident and positive about themselves

The only explanation I can fathom for this is being 9 years old and your brain just started distinguishing fiction from reality.

November 2019 // August 2025 // A different type of glow up
Felt inspired by this post some days ago and therapy has been all about doing more and thinking less. So I did. (also the stars glow in the dark!!)

So I just spent 10 weeks at an outpatient mental health facility, and the ways our bodies signal distress are fascinating. Like more than half the people were only there because their bodies had to physically switch off to get the message across. I wanna say 70% were prone to migraines. Some of them literally used to faint because the mental strain was too much for their bodies.
And a lot of times people think that's something you grit your teeth and push through because it's "just in your head".
That's not how it works, tho. Even if the cause is entirely in your brain, that is your brain and it controls your whole fuckin body.
Your brain has one core job: Keep you alive, no matter how. So if your brain thinks the most effective way to get you to disengage from a dangerous situation (grocery store) is to just shut off parts of your function, it's gonna do that. And like. It does tend to work.
It's pretty shit in the moment, but it's also kinda cool to realize afterward. That's technically your brain and body working as intended. Keeping you safe from potential danger (grocery store).
I’m quite open about my mental health on purpose to try and do my part in destigmatizing it. And I want you to remember that your mental health can affect the rest of your body and not just your brain.
A lot of people seemed to think my panic attacks temporarily making it hard for me to move doesn’t sound right. But it’s actually normal! The weird part of my panic attacks is how long they last and not that they paralyze me.
If your anxiety makes it hard for you to move you’re not alone! Try talking to your doctors about how to manage that and don’t feel ashamed about it. It’s largely out of your control. Remember to take your meds and breathe deeply.

Oh cool, so birds and reptiles can also sneeze and sometimes sneezing is a form of communication, that's coo-
what the fuck is "reverse sneezing".
Hey is sneezing just a mammal thing or do other kind of animals do it too? I've seen a tortoise snore, but it just occurred to me that I've never seen a bird or reptile sneeze.

Also stand da einfach "Sehr [Meier]"

Several things are true:
Detransitioners deserve support, safe spaces, health care, medical research, and their voices to be heard.
Detransitioners can be, if they want to be, part of the trans community. (I mean come on. they've literally transitioned twice. that's more than the average trans person! genders georg/ia who lives in a cave and transitions 3000 times per day is an outlier adn shouldn't be counted.)
And
Detransition is often weaponized by transphobes [both cis and detrans (and actually some regular trans too)], despite the miniscule detransition rates.
Anyway the easiest way to prevent detransition is actually to make transition more accessible (especially puberty blockers! Their effects literally revert themselves if you stop taking them. You don't have to do shit!!) and generally support trans people.
A decent part of detransitioners cited social rejection as their reasoning. Others lost access to their health care providers.
Detransitioners who cite being pressured into transition also would've benefitted from more social acceptance: The less restrictive we are about transition, the more easily can people (especially younger ones) experiment and realize their own identities. This would allow (potentially) genderqueer folks to express doubts about their gender and/or transition safely and discuss these nuances with a professional to find their ideal solution, be that transition or not, or something in between.
This next bit will vary some between countries, but most places require a formal diagnosis of gender dysphoria (or "gender incongruence" as of ICD-11) for someone to medically transition.
And as a trans person, you cannot afford to miss getting that diagnosis. So when you see a professional about it, you don't bring up your nuanced perceptions, your potential doubts, or even your actual feelings. You tell them what they want to hear. That's the only way to get the care you need.
Plenty of healthcare systems don't account for anything other than binary. The official diagnosis for gender dysphoria (in the ICD-10, which is still the norm everywhere) requires identifying as "the other sex". (So much wrong with that holy shit.)
I, transmasculine nonbinary, am currently lying to several health care providers, insurance companies, and the literal government about my gender. Because I wouldn't get health care if I was anything other than a binary trans man. This is literally keeping me from transitioning the way I want to. I want to go on testosterone and DHT blockers. I can only get testosterone. Now, thankfully, I'm an educated adult with a good understanding of myself, my goals, and my gender. And some medical science. So I'm not currently on HRT, until I find someone who will prescribe it the right way. I've got enough of an understanding to delay this according to my needs.
If I was 15 tho? And they told me my options were testosterone or nothing? I'd go on T in a heartbeat. Maybe I'd like the outcome. Maybe I'd regret that later. But it's not like I had a real choice.
This post went into too many directions so TLDR: Be nice to trans people and let them transition freely. That'd solve like 90% of imaginary problems the 'phobes have.
Your outward hatred of detransitioners doesn’t make you a white knight trans activist. It just makes you a bigot in another direction (and quite frankly shows how unintelligent you are)
If by "detransitioners" you mean the specific people who are campaigning against allowing HRT or transitioning processes to anyone at all, because they did something that they didn't like, and regretted it, yeah fuck those people.
I contemplated having a kid when I was 15. I knew that the finnish trans law would require my sterilisation and thought that if I ever wanted a kid, I'd have to get one before turning 18, because that option would be taken from me when I get the diagnosis and can get my legal sex changed.
Imagine if I would have had that kid, immediately realised that I made a huge mistake and that kid is an asshole who fucking sucks, and then spent my whole adult life campaigning for mandatory abortions for all and insisting that nobody should be allowed to have a child ever, because mine fucking sucks and nobody ever should be allowed to do something that I regretted doing.
That would have been unintelligent behaviour.
#ramble#i have a lot of thoughts on detransition#if youve detransitioned: i see you and i love you okay? im proud of you for exploring your identity.#if youre advocating to ban transitioning based on any of this: kindly go fuck right off.#fun fact: we actually estimate that kids have an understanding of gender including their own around the age of 7.#if we let 7 year olds explore their gender freely we could save ourselves so much hassle down the road.#7 year old tried being a boy but hated it? cool let her grow her hair back out and get her old shirts back. the end.#thats not to say everyone knows for sure what their gender identity is at 7. i realized at 25. but also nobody asked me at 7.#and puberty blockers are like the coolest thing ever!! because young kids may sometimes experience gender dysphoria without being trans#but usually that subsides with puberty. if it continues that usually means the kid is trans.#and with puberty blockers we can give them the time to find out without committing to any long term physical changes#(to be clear: puberty blockers pause the development of secondary sex characteristics. the brain develops as usual.)#(so the dysphoria would still subside or subsist like it would without puberty blockers. thats unaffected.)#my controversial take of the day is that we should put all kids on puberty blockers by default until they're ready#not even exclusively for gender reasons. puberties keep starting earlier and earlier because we have pretty cushy living standards atm#menstruation at 9 is a common-ish thing now. we cant do that to 9 year olds. let them play in the dirt!!!#anecdotally i played in the dirt when i got my first period and i thought the dark stain was dirt that somehow got into my underwear.#i was 13 and since then i would live in hell every month. sometimes more. sometimes less. cant imagine having to put up with that at 9.#but also i wouldnt need to get a mastectomy if my tits never grew in. thatd be nice but alas.#crimes against the gender convention

Noticing that 5/6 of my dad’s older siblings have turned into sad hermit shut-ins once they retired I’ve been trying to encourage him to join a club or something so he can talk to people he’s not related to at least once a month but so far he’s dragging his feet about it and it’s not looking good.

Undertale Undyne (canonically):
Captain of the Royal Guard
Patrols the Underground
Radicalized against another race (humans)
Does public outreach in schools
Is the de-facto problem solver for civilian issues
Solves most problems with brute force
Loves gratuitous violence
Serves the king(dom)
Protects her community
Killed up to 6 humans in the process
Literally attempts to murder you for trespassing. repeatedly.
Name one job that's a better fit than cop.
What gets me about the "it's bad that Deltarune made Undyne a cop" stuff is that, like, she is very much a cop in Undertale, too. That's basically the whole context of your initial confrontation with her. The Deltarune version just hasn't had her "what the fuck am I doing?" moment yet because she's never been called on to do anything more forceful than writing parking tickets.

Sometimes I come across a reddit post that's full of horrific abuse and then the comments are like "hm kind of a red flag tbh"
This is almost exclusive to male victims, btw.
[Pissing on the poor clarification: This is not saying that women don't experience abuse or dismissal of their abuse. I am saying that we're pretty comfortable handwaving male victims in particular.]
Tumblr media
straight people cannot be real
#ramble#its linked to our deeply rooted sexist systems of categorizing women as victims and men as predators etc etc#i will say that for reddit it also really depends on the subreddit what kinda responses you can expect.#i know its a very flawed metric but i do find myself asking “what if the genders were reversed” with a lot of reactions.#like imagine if OP was a woman whose boyfriend insists on giving her a gynecological exam every week. tracks her location. checks her phone#people would be out for blood. (on reddit at least. they live for telling people to break up and yearning for bloodshed)#with this one people were like. mildly upset ig? thankfully people do call it abuse and tell OP to gtfo.#but there's very little support if that makes sense. boils down to “get out and get her into therapy”. not much else.#no “im so sorry that happened to you”. no “heres how you make an exit plan”. no “please stay safe”#theres some victim blaming but you have to scroll a while to find it so thats about average for these posts.#god i know its really fuckin risky to post anything remotely close to mens rights activism on this website because of the dipshit proximity#and theres a lot of dipshits on this website.#and like. pointing out that we stereotype women as victims and men as predators isnt even mens rights specific.#that shit sucks for everyone. like thats how we justify so much violence against women. and ignore violence against men.#but quite frankly i do not trust this website with the required nuance here. which is fair enough because thats like. advanced feminism.#and we all started somewhere right. not everyone is 15 years deep into it. or old enough to be. cant expect advanced level from everyone#idk im overthinking this post. big time.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about my family and how I was treated as a child, and honestly, my father has never seemed more amazing in my eyes.
I used to love Luigi(Mario's brother) when I was little. Like, he was my favorite character ever, and I had multiple plushies of him. Didn't give a fuck about Mario, vaguely tolerated Peach, but I loved Luigi.
On my first day of kindergarten, my dad gave me the number for his work phone and said it was Luigi's phone number. "If anything happens at school, call Luigi."And not even twenty minutes into my first day, I was having a panic attack. So I went down to the principal's office and called "Luigi."
Now, at the time, my father was in a meeting with his manager and his supervisor, along with most of his coworkers. And when I called, he picked up before he even left the room.
And he put on a very awful Italian accent and said, "Itsa me, Luigi! Whatsa the matter?"In front of his boss and coworkers. Without telling them what was going on. So they were absolutely bewildered, and he carried on like they didn't even exist. He only explained what was happening after I had calmed down and hung up, to which most of them responded with "Aww, cute."
I continued to call him whenever I got upset at school, and eventually his coworkers got in on it. I distinctly remember one of them impersonating Toad. I don't know why I'm telling you this, I just thought it might make you smile :)
this is so delightful I love your Luigi dad

Casual reminder for everyone that we all have the predisposition for all reproductive organs. One set typically atrophies while the other develops. (7ish weeks into embryonic development, I wanna say? goddammit i looked that up like two days ago. Ah. Wikipedia says week 8-10. close enough.)
If you've ever met a baby, you know that no development runs perfectly. Sometimes things get jumbled. Sometimes you got an unexpected uterus. Sometimes you got an unexpected absence of a uterus. Sometimes your ovaries were actually testis all along.
There's a lot of different ways our reproductive systems can turn out, and we need to stop stigmatizing them.
The phrase "men don't have uteruses" is not only transandrophobic; saying trans men aren't men for having uteruses— It is also a statement in support of violence against intersex men with uteruses. Intersex people imposed male often have their uteruses forcibly removed, all because of the both intersexist and transandrophobic sentiment that you can't be a Real Man if you have a uterus.
