When I read the mdzs novel earlier this year, the "Come back to Gusu with me" scene was probably the scene that hit the hardest to me

Idk why, it wasn't even the first time that I experienced it having already read the manhua and watched the donghua but reading It that time caused such a visceral reaction in me that I was left uneasy for the whole day and I couldn't bring myself to continue the novel for a month

Maybe I related to WWX, maybe I related to LWJ, maybe I related to both, or maybe I got that invested in their relationship

And now that scene is one of my fav scenes in the whole novel for this exact reason

Half of the plot of MDZS happened because Yiling Laozu was so HOT that he made a lot of powerful people figure new things about themselves and they got mad about that. wei wuxian would probably be taller than lan wangji if he wasn't starved as a child. my guy was 186cm tall after being starved for 4-6 years, he would probably be like 190-195cm tall.

i love the idea that both wei changze and cangse sanren were also both freakishly tall, and because of that their kid is eye-level with nie mingjue or more, like dude. dude.

So, I recently finished the novel and wanted to do a take on how I imagine this character.

On the left, Lan Wangji/Zhan in his 15/16 years old, when he first met Wei Wuxian; on the right, Hunguang-Jun in his 30s, just a few days away from finding the reincarnation of his lost love.

An adema: Although all of the Lan clan's clothing are described as white, I like to think that they typically feature blue and gray color patterns, like the clouds that adorn their symbol. But, as our narrator himself says, Lan Zhan appears wearing all white clothes: mourning clothes. Well, I just really thought about it. Quite a lot.
