I hate the stretch lines in the front of Curly's uniform because that means the devs rushed to make a model in like a month or so and thought "They gotta at least know he has huge knockers, gotta know he's got back pain." Cause like what is the thematic importance of his tits having overhang?

What responsibility is that representing? Breast reduction? It shows an inherent greed in his character due to the excess and heshouldletmeholdone and that he clearly is blinded cause if he tries to look down his damn ladder all he's seeing is his own cleavage.

Some Ericka + Moon fun! While I agree with alot of @lovelylivelyv 's sentiment on Moon's character being handled badly, I can't really hate Moon. She had the potential to be a good character, she was just poorly handled. Alot of this came out of that since Ericka was in a similar situation once and prefers to teach others and convince them to do better than fight them.

That is, if she thinks they'll listen.

1. Despite Ericka's issues with the Magic High Commission (...Mostly Rhombulus and Heckapoo) and Mina, I think Ericka woukdn'r have a problem with Moon. Moon's alot more reachable than the others and I think Ericka'd ultimately empathize. After all, she was in a similar situation. The only problem (Besides the Star and Eclipsa-like clash between Ericka's more bouncy, crazy, free-spirited and optimistic nature and skewed morals and Moon's much more uptight, reserved, and straight-laced one) is Ericka DOES agree that working with Mina behind Star and Eclipsa's back was a stupid thing to do and a breach of trust. Even if she doesn't judge all that harshly for it. ("I mean, not only did I date a guy while trying to kill him, I ran a whole monster cruise death trap and knowingly helped my Great-Grandfather retrieve a magical weapon of mass destruction. I am the LAST one who should be judging here.")

2. Here's an idea I've had for a while: I feel like Ericka and Moon have completely different reactions when it comes to seeing what the other side thinks of them. While Moon takes things seriously and personally, getting offended and trying to correct with her OWN misconceptions, Ericka ENJOYS any opportunity to see things from the other side after a lifetime of only learning from Great-Grandfather and finds the fact monsters had silly misconceptions of their own about humans funny and almost adorable compared to her own. She forgives and forgets far more easily than Moon and can even laugh at the monsters' dark humor and join in with her own jokes about the past...something that drives the much more uptight, serious ex-Queen up the wall.

It's fun playing with the clashes between these two. While Ericka's willing to easily forgive Moon for her mistakes and past views of monsters since she sees hope for Moon to do better, she can't help but enjoy how easy it is to play with the much more straight-laced women's head a little. Even with their difference in rank and power. Perhaps it's Ericka's way of trying to get her to lighten up, her seeing some of her old self, Great-Grandfather, or even Drac in the other woman, or it's merely Ericka's mischievious "I will cause problems on purpose" side coming out. Who can say?

And Moon, while she can't help but like the charming, friendly woman that oddly reminds her of her own daughter (they even relate to eachother on many things, including parenthood, being one of the leaders of their community, and having been an accomplice to Genocide once); she finds her VERY odd and at times talking to her is like dealing with Eclipsa, Mina, and Star all at once...with the challenge of Ericka KNOWS full well what she does drives Moon nuts and enjoys it immensely.

Basically, Ericka enjoys bending or breaking MANY of the rules Moon has spent her whole life upholding. She lives by her OWN rules, and it causes clashes between the two.

Ericka: Mmmm, Sounds like SOMEONE still has hate they haven't let go of yet. Not to mention some control issues. C'mon, Moon. Even YOU have to admit the irony of them being just as scared of us as we are of them is atleast a LITTLE BIT funny!

Note: Yes, Ericka copying Drac's "When will you Van Helsings learn to let go of the hate?" Pose and phrase was 100% intentional.

I strongly associate these 2 with "What I know Now" from Beetlejuice since Ericka not only had been an accomplice to Monster Genocide who learned she was wrong about Monsters and made a heel-face turn (but betrayed someone she loved in the process and nearly ended up dead because of it,) but she grew up trying to live up to the rigid, serious rules and expectations of being a Van Helsing and ultimately rejected them in favor of making her own future. So "If I knew then what I know now" is both her trying to tell Moon what she learned about Monsters and taking rules and life seriously.

Being in prison was a torment.

One that he thought he rightfully deserved. After everything he'd done to Jowd and his family and to Lynne, he thought he deserved to be locked up forever. The only thing that prevented that thought from going further, was the fact he actually had someone waiting for him outside of that dark cell.

Someone he loved with all his heart. Someone he saw dead in the old timeline. Someone who didn't know the monster he had become.

She always came, everyday, to check on him. The first few months weren't pretty, with Yomiel struggling to remain sane after experiencing ten years of undeath, developing a mental condition known as Cotard Syndrome and refusing to eat because he thought his body didn't need it, because he still thought he was dead and this was all a dream.

She wasn't the only Sissel to visit him, though.

The first time he received his best friend's visit, he was in shock. Never in his wildest dreams, he'd think his best friend would end up in the same predicament as he was. But even if the thought terrified him, being able to talk with Sissel again was what helped him get a grip on his sanity and realize that he wasn't dreaming, that he actually had his fate averted.

He was in the middle of painting something when he felt the familiar presence in his mind.

“Hey, buddy.” He greeted mentally, his tone, even in the Ghost World, revealing how tired he actually was. “Wasn't expecting you to come so early today, but I'm glad you came. Couldn't sleep well this night.” As if he ever slept well ever since that day in the park.

THE SMILE ON SADIE'S FACE IS JUST... HAPPY. Really happy. Yeah, she's happy Piper ain't handling the dangerous lifestyle that she was forced to accept to survive... happy Piper ain't out there in the wilderness often, where all kinds of danger lurks. But this ain't that kind of happy. No, it's the one where she is COMPLETELY RELIEVED to be home again. To hang up her hat (even though Nat has it on right now an' that's perfectly okay...), along with her coat on the rack by the door. Jus' to settle down without having to keep a sharp eye out in case she was followed an' keeping a hand on the grip of her revolver.

She's just so damned happy to be herself again an' take a break from the whole tough bounty hunter façade. It's Camille's turn anyway... Lord knows that woman is giving them bastards hell in her stead.

'How is it this woman makes me feel... jus' feel.' Sadie thought quietly to herself, the bright smile STILL lingering on her face -- especially when Piper's warm hand slides down her wrist an' into her hand. You know what, maybe that question ought to be left unanswered... better to simply experience it. Some things you jus' can't really put into words anyway.

He knew he hadn't deserved to live a long life, but life was cruel. Or maybe, life was forgiving. It all depends on how you look at it.

Eric, in his old age, smiles down at the family he has created. One he didn't ask for, but one that was made over time. It was his grandchild's birthday and as a request from the birthday boy, he had decided to let them all come here to his home out in the woods of South Park, Colorado.

A change of pace to let his home be used so openly, but a part of him had softened over the years. May it be from his daughter who had grown to be a beautiful women, just like her mother. Wendy, who's companionship benefited the both of them in such a strong, intimate way. Butters, his right hand man who's been with him through thick and thin. And Kyle, the boy from another world that made the mistake of coming to this one. A mistake, that had evolved from a nightmare, into quite a beautiful friendship. It wasn't perfect, but it has taught him a lot over the years. And even though they had been through a lot, Eric could honestly say that he was happy, even if they were just friends.

The sun rays beamed through the trees, making the grass a shade of orange from the sunset. Kids ran around in the open area as friends and acquaintances openly drank and danced to the music.

Hired men had this place surrounded. It's no surprise, Eric was a powerful man. But he had gotten too comfortable on his snowy throne that he called his home. He was the man with all the answers, and if he didn't have them, he sent men to find them or he dealt with it himself. And if he deemed it unimportant, his silver tongue knew exactly how to strike, a silent poison, if you will.

Usually, that alone was his secret weapon, but it was of no help into the oncoming disaster that was karma. A loose end.

As Eric turned towards his bedroom to leave his private balcony, a sharp pain enters right into his chest, meeting the eyes of emerald green so cold that it took the breath from him.

Kyle Broflovski. No, not his friend. Somebody that he use to know. One that he had hurt in more ways than you can imagine. It was a dark time for them both, but Kyle took the brunt of it all. 

Their eyes are locked as Kyle shoves him harshly against the wall, a stake still lodged in Erics chest. With every breath, a sharp pain is felt, the shock of seeing Kyle after all these years is apparent, but the red heads expression remains cold.

“Kahl--”

“Do you know how long I’ve waited for this moment?”

Eric's legs feel weak and he slides down, blood streaking down against the wall until hes sat uncomfortably on the carpet, Kyle moving down with him, staying eye to eye.

“I’m not who I use to be. You changed me."

Erics shock melts into a softness of some kind. The eyes that use to bore deep into Kyle's soul all those years ago.. they were different. But Kyle's pain and rage were so wrapped tightly around his heart, he couldn't find it in himself to care, even if it did take him by surprise.

"You've been alive way too long- it's not fair. I should've killed you a long time ago."

Erics breathing starts to slow, his mind in a whirlwind of emotions and thoughts, but nothing could come out. Nothing except a whisper.

"I knew yew would come back for me." And there was a small smile that graced his lips. Kyle's taken aback, mouth agape as he lets Eric go. Before he could respond, a voice is heard down the hall, identical to his own.

"Cartman?" It calls out, getting closer to the bedroom door. Kyle and the brunet stare at each other. A silent goodbye, eyes glossed with so much emotion, that there was nothing and yet so much left to say. The bedroom door opens just as Kyle rushes out the window, making his way down the side of the balcony where he came.

And there stood his long time friend, the boy in the green ushanka hat. His expression falls as he watches his doppelganger escape and he almost moves to run after him, but seeing Eric on the ground with a stake through his chest, he practically stumbles over to him instead, falling to his knees at his side.

"Cartman- What- why-!?" Did he really need to ask why? Should he really be surprised? Was that Kyle who he thought he was?

"Shhh. It's okay-- its--" a cough of blood splatters down to his chin, but it was inevitable. He knew this was it.

Eric grabs onto Kyle's shirt, clinging to it like he's clinging to his life. He's killed so many people, he didn't deserve to have this kind of merciful death. He always thought he would die all alone, with nothing but his thoughts and regrets, forced to play over his shitty life, but there Kyle was, tears brimming those green jade eyes, and it was all Cartman could ever ask for. Somebody out here really did care for him, and it was a Kyle no less. This Kyle.

As he stares up at Kyle's terrified, sad stricken face, he knows he could walk with death satisfied, if it meant looking up at him like this. The way the sunset captivated Kyle's beautiful features, looking at him. But Eric has always been a selfish man so without warning, he pulls him down for a soft kiss. He's kissed Kyle before, usually full of greedy and aggressive lust, but it's been years and this one was different. There was so much behind it. Words left unsaid. As soft as it was, it gradually goes slack and as he takes his last breath, Eric slumps back against the wall, blue eyes faded and lifeless.

Ondine and Charlie would get along so well. They both believe in seeing the best in people, are both nice to a fault, and both have the life experience of being a sheltered “princess” with parental issues. Their personalities are fairly different, what with Charlie being endlessly outgoing and peppy while Ondine is perpetually timid and melancholy, but even in that regard, they’d mesh well. Charlie is a leader while Ondine is a follower. Ondine would love to have a friend who takes charge and prompts her to do things that’ll actually be good for her and everyone else. Ondine has a habit of ending up in relationships where the other person does things she doesn’t necessarily agree with, but she’s too afraid of making waves to push back. It’d be so nice for her to have someone in her life who she can trust completely— who she’ll never have to worry about leading her astray.

Charlie would be thrilled to have such a committed and enthusiastic member of the hotel, but might eventually realize that, uh… Ondine’s maybe a little too eager to turn off her critical thinking and go along with everything she says. Vaggie may be undyingly loyal, but at least she’s willing to push back and give Charlie a reality check every once is a while. Ondine’s just… unquestioning.

This started out as a list for me for fanfiction purposes, but then I decided I should just post it cuz why the hell not?

These are my observations for what religions some RDR characters may follow. These assumptions are going to be based off cultural details and dialogue.

Again, they're only assumptions, so I'm very much aware that they can be wrong.

Dutch: Dutch is really interesting in the sense that he believes in a higher power. The three main components of Romantacism were the relationship between man and man, man and nature, and man and god. Dutch is a romantic. He also has many lines where he talks about heaven, with one being: "Be a man who knows that there is a heaven above or scurry off like some god forsaken monkeys." We know Dutch isn't Catholic considering his negative views towards Catholicism ("Here we are in this strange land of Papists and rapists."), so he is most likely from some sort of protestant background who then rejected it for the romantic tradition as many of the newspapers in RDR1 would say things about Dutch not getting saved. John says the same thing. Dutch is a diest but not a Christian.

Hosea: Hosea is some sort of protestant Christian and we get this through cultural background and dialogue. We learn that when he was younger, he wanted to be a priest but let go of that because he needed to be Catholic. America was and still is a majority protestant nation but even moreso back then. We also hear him talk about heaven and hell a couple of times, lamenting about how when he does, he won't see Bessie because she'll be in heaven. He is angry at his faith, yes, with the line of "And we're supposed to believe in judgement" when ranting about Bessie's death, but then apologizes, admitting that he can't understand it, not that he doesn't believe.

Arthur is agnostic, but he's open to the idea of faith. In one of this journal entries, he says something about whether he can achieve salvation or heaven or whether that's all fairy tales, as he's not sure what to believe when he dies, even though to the nun, he says he doesn't believe in anything. Arthur also seems to have a distaste for the church as an organization, evidenced by his dialogue with the grave digger debtor, but he seems to like religious people, or at the very least he is open to them. He never knocks down Brother Dorkins and he feels at peace when he speaks to the nun in their final meeting at the train station. Very interesting that he feels better after he talks to the nun, a character who is supposed to embody positive religion and what it can do for people.

John is a non practicing Christian, which makes sense considering his background and the work he has to put in to keep his family safe. It keeps him from actively practicing. Though he's a realist and isn't practically concerned about religion in his everyday life, shown by his father dismissive attitude towards religious people in the game, God is still an active force in his life. Throughout the story, John has lines about God as an active force in his life. When he marries Abigail, he says he wants to marry her "in front of God." A preacher authenticates the wedding. John owns a Bible in his house, makes references about Dutch not getting saved, and talks to Jack about the possibility of redemption as something the "good book" says, despite not reading it with him.

Abigail seems to also be a more practicing Christian, given that she does ask Jack a couple of times throughout the story to read verses for her, but beyond that, I feel like she is also pretty lukewarm in regards to her faith, but she is still a Christian.

Sean and Javier are all most likely cultural Catholics. Sean is an Irish man and is proud of his Irish heritage, which also includes Irish Catholicism and he mentions being a child of God a couple times throughout background dialogue. Javier is a Mexican man and Mexico is very Catholic and though he doesn't really speak of it, he has done the symbol of the cross in game, so it's likely that he still holds some religious thoughts.

Molly is most likely an Irish Protestant due to her conflicts with Sean as well as her family's connections with the English.

Charles is tricky because we know that despite being proud of his native heritage, he is still very much displaced from his culture. What this means is that while he might follow native religion, it equally as likely that he follows some sort of protestantism because of his lack of time with his tribe, forced assimilation, and his relationship with his black father, who would culturally most likely be a Christian. There are really no clues or hints about Charles' beliefs besides his cultural backgrounds so take that as you will.

Micah is a reddit atheist. He doesn't believe in divinity at all and he uses that to shape his worldview as well. No such thing as heaven and hell, only winners and losers. He bullies Swanson a lot for his faith and constantly belittles the idea of religion.

Karen, Tilly, Marybeth, Grimshaw, Pearson, Lenny, Leopald, Josiah, and Kieran don't really have any clues as to what they personally believe. The only idea that we have is the setting that they lived in and the culture that they frequented which makes it most likely that they are some sort of Christian, but what denomination? Don't know.

Sadie is a Christian, but most likely non practicing. We have multiple lines with her referencing God as an active force. "Everyone's got to choose who they're loyal to. God, the state, themselves. If a bounty hunter wants to last, his loyalty has got to be with the one issuing the bounty, plain and simple." "Guess he began to believe he was God or something."

Uncle is nonreligious, most likely agnostic due to his very lax tone in regards to faith, which is also evidenced by his rather wild lifestyle in multiple stories of his. "Do you believe in reincarnation?" "I hope and pray to whatever is out there-" "It's like rooming with the King James Bible."

Swanson is a protestant. Need I say more?

Writing kisaita (on and off) for 15 years

Excellent, friendly people in the fandom to keep making content (Cynni)

Presentation is less about the specific ship and more about the general qualities that make their ship S-tier. You may find this echoed in your own OTP, IDK.

Powerful, badass characters who can kick anyones asses no problem, as depicted where they are casually taking a stroll after Kisame (who still has his little fo-hawk) casually takes down the four-tails

Kisame is noted as the ‘tail-less jinchuuriki’

Itachi is clearly a fucking powerhouse, we don’t need to debate that

Working with strong characters means you are more easily able to portray their weakness and explore that side of them since that rarely gets screentime

Auxiliary, not main characters

Main characters are harder to write because they spend a lot of screen time accomplishing their goal and doing Plot

Auxiliary characters are more malleable, and morally gray ones especially so

Depicted here are Itachi and Kisame, separately, being ordered by their villages to kill their own people. They carry this order out, but do not particularly like it. Nor are they particularly loyal to their own villages, despite carrying this order out. It’s hard to say where their loyalities lie.

The answer is WITH EACH OTHER OBVIOUSLY

Any ship that has a timeskip has LOADS of canon-verse material you can work with, especially if it feels like the characters have changed or their dynamic has changed.

For Naruto especially, WTF are Kisame and Itachi doing for three years? Clearly neither of them are out capturing jinchuriki. They aren’t seen lounging around Amegakure or Akatsuki headquarters. They are just traveling the world. Probably doing hits. Probably hitting on EACH OTHER WOOOOOO

Long time skips mean a few thing: 1) Canon divergence, 2) Canon compliant, 3) pre-time skip, 4) during time skip, 5) post time-skip; and that’s not even the AU’s

They clearly haven’t made any other friends during this time either so lots of relationship to explore

The Naruto franchise is notorious for retconning. Probably because Kishimoto (the writer) was pushed to create at a pace that was impossible for any sane or healthy man to keep up with.

Fanficition writers can take advantage of this poor writing by interpreting the character in a lot more ways than if the character was solidly written.

There are a lot of different ways Kisame is written, and accepted as so

Itachi less so but we don’t have time for that

Retconning allows you to take a writers mistake and turn it into utter brainrot that ten other people (me) will reblog every 3 years

This one is kind of specific, but if you like angst then OH BOY this ship has a lot of potential for it

Any OTP that involves an angsty edgelord and a sadistic tagalong can indulge in either EXTRA ANGST and be able to balance out the angst with humor

The KisaIta ship has 4 great themes about it:

Redemption

Acceptance

Forgiveness

And Existentialism of course

Dynamic:

Sharkboy / lava girl

Edgelord / goof

Leader / follower

Maybe old? / a touch too young

Respect for each other

S-tier OTP because of strong themes and repeatable dynamics

Kinkfest here we come

S-tier OTPs must be able to withstand an intense variety of smut writing

Powerful level = able to handle pain and dish out pain

The Shape of Water was one of the single best thing to happen to the KisaIta 18+ fics because (even though it existed before the movie came out) a lot more readers were into it now

Also, Kisame makes this ship work more than Itachi. He is fucking DEVOTED

You post a lot criticising Zuko. Do you like Zuko or not?

Well, let me break that down a bit:

Do I think we should have sympathy for Zuko?

I think as a 16 year old abuse victim he deserves a lot of sympathy and should get support.

Would I enjoy being around him?

No, I think the Zuko we see is a deeply unpleasant person and I doubt I would enjoy it if I were around him. However, I suspect I would also find Azula, Mai, Ty Lee, and Toph quite unpleasant to be around too, so that's hardly unique to Zuko.

Do I think Zuko is an interesting character?

I think Book 1 Zuko is actually quite interesting and in his own way quite likeable, even if he's a terrible person. Book 1 is where Zuko's writing peaks for me.

Beyond that, I honestly think Zuko becomes much more boring. The writers started leaning entirely on having viewers closely emotionally identify with Zuko and feel personal emotional catharsis when he "achieves redemption." If you don't, Zuko becomes much more boring and the flaws in his writing become much more apparent.

I also think Zuko isn't a particularly interesting or unique character in general. Azula, Ty Lee, and even Mai all manage to be way more interesting and unique than Zuko, despite getting vastly less character development time. At their core, Zuko's arc and themes amount to rejecting an abusive father in favor of a better surrogate father, which feels pretty standard to be honest. By contrast, I can think of only one character the least like Azula in any Western media, Miles Vorkosigan from the Vorkosigan Saga.

Honestly, the most interesting thing about Zuko is analyzing the difference between how the narrative frames him verses what his actions actually suggest about who he really is. That's probably why I write so many "Zuko critical" posts, because I find analyzing the difference interesting.

Do I think Zuko's arc was well-written?

No. The writers were very good at tugging at the heartstrings but beyond that I think "Zuko's redemption arc" is not nearly as good as people make it out to be. In particular, the way that the narrative after Book 1 stops holding him accountable for anything he does weakens his arc badly. That, along with making Iroh the center of Zuko's arc at all costs, made things drastically worse than the original writing plans for Zuko.

Do I think Zuko is the morally pure perfect Firelord the narrative tries to sell him as?

The finale tries to present him that way, but it falls flat for me. Zuko is a very badly flawed person who never addressed most of his flaws, and he's not the least bit suited to be Firelord. The narrative needs him to be the perfect, rightful prince who will redeem the Fire Nation from darkness, and if Zuko had been written differently and his arc had been taken in a different direction, he could be that, but he's not. I could never buy the person we see at the end of the show being a good ruler, and I could never buy him being happy as a ruler.

Could Zuko be an interesting character?

Hell yes. If the narrative had been less prone to gloss over Zuko's many flaws, and more inclined to force him to address them and deal with the consequences of his actions, he could be very interesting. Even if the narrative was willing to seriously acknowledge Zuko's flaws without having him ever improve on them, things would be more interesting. The Zuko-Azula relationship is actually super-interesting if you think deeply about it, but you need to ignore everything about how the narrative frames them for it to be interesting. "Good boy tormented by evil demon psycho younger sister" is boring as hell.
