The Spirited: Origins — update notes

v2.1.0 is now live!  PLAY THE GAME ON ITCH.IO

PLEASE NOTE: Old saves will not work - please restart the game from the beginning to avoid nasty bugs and overall game-breaking behaviour.

Everyone deserves some downtime after dealing with their first demon and potentially committing a crime. 

In this update, which includes the first part of Chapter 2:

— deal with the personal repercussions of your last case — choose how to spend your weekend: take a walk to become one with nature or spend some time with your friend/colleague (/crush) [an additional route will be available in v2.2.0] — find some interesting correspondence in your letterbox — hear back from a recently met friend

I have additionally made some small changes to the prologue and Chapter 1 and fixed a few known bugs. Changes include:  ✦ the addition of custom pronouns​ ✦​ new starting screen and menu ✦ controls pop-up which can be accessed from the starting screen and explains the game mechanics ✦​ the trigger warning screen is now its own passage which you can proceed from, instead of displaying at the top of the page ✦​ trigger warnings list is now separated into general and route/choice-specific sections

Custom pronouns can be set by manually typing them in (in lowercase) and the game will figure out the rest for you.

Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see your stats and relationships changing after a certain point  — these will be going through a major overhaul alongside the next update and therefore haven’t been coded into this update.

New trigger warnings added (some planned and some update-specific): hallucinations and delusions, mental illness, stalking, strong language (duh! can't believe I didn't include this before), various phobias, loss of autonomy, sexually explicit content

v2.2.0 will include: ✦ ​an additional choice on how to spend your free time at the beginning of this chapter (shopping route) ✦ the second half of Chapter 2​ ✦ relationships and stats overhaul

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? Crafting UI improvements

The Spinning Wheel/Sewing Machine got 4 new tabs to further categorize existing recipes and reduce clutter in the second tab. The Snugget tab contains items that are available to everyone but only Snuggets can/should use.

The Anvil/Forge/Replicator got 3 new tabs. The EPP tab was cluttered, so the light augments got their own tab. Paint guns also got their own tab as they can hardly be called actual weapons.

Finally, there is now a separate tab for the trim tools which let you modify blocks in cool ways and you probably didn't even know existed! You can get the recipes for them at the Small Instant Mail Catalog which is craftable at the Inventor's Table.

Items tagged MMP got their own tab. Same with the new items tagged SCB. Greebles got their own tab too. (I didn't even know these existed!) Finally, graffiti now have their own tab.

This, combined with the 150+ removed recipes (because they are also available at the Outpost Express) and two dozen or so more that have been moved, massively helped declutter the Workbench, especially the 4th (decor) tab.

Please note that not all of the above mods' contents will be available on Multiverstar Modded due to legal and community reasons!Unavailable items show up in-game as a "Perfectly Unavailable Item".
