For about the past three decades the Republican caucus on Capitol Hill has become increasingly crazy because most of the less crazy ones have refused to stand up to their deranged colleagues.
The earlier one challenges dysfunctional radicalization, the more likely it will have an effect.
The GOP went off the deep end for good in 2016 when it adopted Donald Trump as its Lord and Savior. Many of them knew this would be problematic but they went along anyway.

if u have never been to texas and have ever wondered "how big is tht state actually", on a road trip from houston tx to los angeles california, we drove 9 hours and we were STILL IN TEXAS

Just doing a last minute reminder to fellow usamericans to file your taxes before April 17th 2024, with a high recommendation you use the IRS free filing or one of the affiliate programs they have if you make less than 79k a year (because the more people use it the better, fuck Inuit TurboTax & H&R Block)
You will need to make an ID.me account which isn't really any more difficult than making any other login (you will need your SSN tho), but the filing itself was so simple it took me no time at all and was way faster than using TurboTax because the IRS site doesn't waste a bunch of time doing needless animations to "show your progress" while filing
I filed my taxes a week ago and I've already gotten both my federal and state returns direct deposited. I've never gotten my returns so quickly, it has never been so easy to file, and if people continue to use this service from the IRS it'll only get better.
Also important things to remember with tax season! The IRS will never call you with an automated response about your taxes, those are scam calls just ignore them, and if you do make a mistake while filing don't worry too much because the IRS will just quietly fix your return and either mail you the check/bill or direct deposit it. Happy filing! You got this!
#the irs free filing is only available for 12 states rn as it's rolling out: AZ CA FL MA NV NH NY SD TN TX WA & WY#if you live in one of those states & make less than 79k I cannot recommend using it enough. generally I do agree with listening to your friends and caring for one another- but then you get those people who think all friendship is, is venting and y'all aren't even close- like i still want to help, but there's a limit. plus, frankly i've gone through so much worse i have a hard time empathizing especially bc she exaggerates to try to elicit sympathy- i don't know how to tell her she'll find more friends if she can just be chill the first few times she meets someone. anyway, personal rant. also, therapists aren't actually for venting at. all y'all whining about your 'stressful' days are why people with actual disabling mental health conditions can't get therapist. thanks y'all've flooded the market and it's much easier to help someone feel better about being nervous about speaking up more than it is someone who is a skitzo or manic and dealing with unmanaged hallucinations. Plus, the pay's the same so who do you think gets the boot? gets the seek help somewhere else? gets the have you tried [mentions the first two obvious resources out of the 40 i've looked into] therapist don't even treat people with "serious" mental health conditions anymore, smh. And it's all thanks to people like you probably.

#look everyone deserves therapy#but you don't go to a doctor every week to check on a painful but managed wound either#therapist#if this sounds like youconsider short term therapy 6-8wks on then 2-3months off to change habits or what get you need [might even work bet#or maybe just go once a month instead of one or more times a week#therapy is a limited resource#and those of us with stigmatized mental health conditions are the ones who lose access when everyone goes all the time#i literally have been verbally rejected by 12 and counting providers (not counting all the ghosting)#some even agreed to treat me/told me their schedule until i mentioned the bi-polar and recent hyper swing#all of them immediately change tune#even those that list it as something they treat; and i didn't even mention the more stigmatized comorbidities#this post got away from me#seeking therapist in nyc area [shot in the dark]#if you can get the same help from friends#you don't need therapy#not even the closest friend could help me with what i need therapy for- professional expertise is essential in my treatment#if i can even get Tx again lol

And yet they haven't bothered hotfixing any of the other issues..... frog farming was pretty soulsucking sure but at least there was SOMETHING you could to do combat all the other rampant bullshit in MoP Remix. I think a culture of mob farming is almost harmless in the grand scheme of the thousands of other issues like;
The HORRIFIC scaling which means if you're in an instance and aren't like level 10-20 with a full cloak you do 1 DPS and take about 2 mil from every enemy.
Upgrading your gear to compensate does little to fix the above issue; bronze is hard to gain reliably outside of frog farming or achievement hunting, and you still end up behind low-level players with fully upgraded gear when you could've spent that bronze to buy that mount you've been farming for years, or that transmog you've always wanted, etc
There is now a noticeable power divide between those who farmed frogs and reaped what benefits they could, and those who didn't have enough time
And that is literally just scratching the surface. Blizzard once again delivering the message to Abuse Early and Abuse Often unless you want to end up slogging behind the curve trying to wring out as much bronze as you can in the given time period
#[🌪️]:#tx#this is just one big ramble but bleghhhhh. i hate that they decided THIS was the issue they needed to hotfix and not... the scaling#which has ALWAYS been fucky but it's SIGNIFICANTLY noticeable once you start going past level 60 in remix#like my main is a fury warrior. lv 70. i do less damage than the level 12 healer in heroics and get two-tapped by almost everything#my reincarnation ankh goes off every time something breathes on me#i'm lucky to peak at 4 on details and i can count on my hand the amount of times i've gotten to maybe 2nd place let alone top spot#instances in general just feel.... awful. which makes trying to grind them out for the achievements so much less fun#id literally rather hop onto regular dragonflight and get better gear for my alts in timewalking than try a raid in remix#and that sucks!!!!! it sucks big time!!!!!!!! i wanna try and get the most out of this event because i really love it i do!!#but its so hard to love when it feels like working a shift every time you try to get a little bit more bronze!!!!!!!!

In an ideal world, it would be a program for Deaf teachers, the government could even put it under vocational rehab if they wanted to! Unfortunately, even some Deaf schools don't employ many Deaf teachers and a lot of teaching jobs end up going to interpreters or just hearing & non-signing people instead. But you're right and I love what you said, we can hope 🩷
idk man. i just think itd be really cool if sign language classes were mandatory throughout primary school. yeah because it would make communication with deaf kids and autistic/nonverbal kids much easier. and those kids would be accessible to the others so they cold make friends and have healthy relationships. yeah. and kids would eat that shit up man. like their own little secret language? they love that.
#during the school year i teach under a program set up by a CODA which is awesome but it's not a government (public school) job#i have a few regulars at my primary job who work at the local Deaf primary school and none of them can carry much of a convo#they can probably sign at a 2nd grade level or so but that's really not enough#there's a decent residential school w Deaf teachers but that requires being willing to send your child away for like 9 months of the year#this turned into basically a rant at the current system 😅 sorry but yeah i think the first step to teaching sign language in primary school#is overhauling the current system for teaching Deaf students as a whole#some schools are decent at it but a lot of us end up in special ed with 2 rotating terps and missing half the day in speech therapy#or in a 'Deaf school' surrounded by hearies. the exceptions in the US are all in like MD KY CA and TX#even then it's specific areas of those states#i didnt meet a Deaf adult until i was 17. i didnt get into the community until i was 20.#Deaf teachers in Deaf schools=> proof of concept that being Deaf does not mean youre incapable of caring for students=>#Deaf teachers in hearing high schools as a language elective=> studies on d/D/HoH feelings of inclusivity with their peers who learn=>#Language elective starting in middle schools=> improved literacy rates in Deafies bc they have teachers who understand them at a younger age#=> primary school inclusion of sign languages in the curriculum starting in third grade=> studies on whether hearing kids need reading-#-skills to understand signed languages=> sign language in curriculum starting in first grade or ideally kindergarten#is kind of the funnel i'd imagine we'd see for optimal chances of having fluent teachers in primary education for hearing students#which would. take at least a couple of decades.#also if this sounds argumentative i dont mean it that way at all!! this is a dream for me but it needs to be done right.#and no one is going to fund it the right way without a fight. terps are great but outside of codas they arent native.#we need native speakers teaching our language or it gets twisted fast. even my favorite (/most fluent non-native speaker) terp-#-cant sign a simple word like cereal- she signs soup for both soup and cereal 😭#and she's been using asl since she was 12 and is almost 50 now. i love her to death and ive tried correcting her#but it wasnt reinforced that way when she was young and now it's ingrained in her.#anyway sorry op if you read all of this i know it was very much this is just something im really passionate about and i want to see happen#like youre so right and i love the fact that youre talking about it and that so many people agree i just have a lot of feelings about it#ALSO if you havent read them i highly recommend the books:#Forbidden Signs by Douglas Baynton#Everyone Here Spoke Sign Language by Nora Groce#and Introduction to American Deaf Culture by Thomas K Holcomb#(obv a usamerican POV but the middle one is relevant anywhere i think) for their insights on sign language teaching/integration
