just because its not something you see in your religion doesn't mean it is inherently bad. you will never see a hindu swastik sign made with black. and then there are the dots which easily distinguishes between them. do not come for my culture/religion when that evil sign is a wretched interpretation of some other religion.

Maus is an incredible graphic novel and I implore everyone to read it. It is obviously not a light read and one should be in the right headspace for it.

It is one of the books that were banned in some US schools for wokeness or something. It was hard to get for a while but I think they might have done a reprint so I was able to get the hardcover of the complete edition.

Cancerates

When you eradicate cancer, you have to take out healthy cells too. Chemotherapy consists of murdering cells in your body, taking advantage of the fact that cancer cells are more vulnerable while not actually stopping normal cells from being vulnerable. If you think about it, even the actual cancer cells are a part of you. They are your cells mutated, not some invading outside force. Smoking, radiation, and air pollution can all encourage mutations, but it’s your DNA that ultimately poses the problem.

The swastika started out a Hindu symbol. It’s still exceptionally common in India, where it was used religiously for centuries before the Nazis took it. Between that and Indian political parties using the hammer and sickle, I have practice scrutinizing the background of family photos to make sure nothing questionable has slipped in.

I’m the kind of person who stopped using the okay symbol when it became an alt-right dog whistle; I’m not saying anyone has a right to reclaim the swastika. I just think a lot about the fact that it was ours, first.

This motherfucker is using the Star of David mixed with a swastika as his campaign logo, allegedly. At least, that's how it appears.

So, like, where are we as a society going to draw the line with his shit? He's been dropped from a lot of things already, sure. But who the fuck whose opinion will matter to him is going to bitch slap this shit out of him? This is actively dangerous behavior. He is knowingly spreading hate and it is going to (and likely already has!!!) cause problems for a lot of people. This isn't some lol so random ignorant thing like he'll probably act like it is. He's using his platform to make things actively worse for Jewish people, and I'm just out here trying to do my part to show everyone how much of a scumbag he is. But you can't just ignore him entirely, because then he'll shift even further right and be radicalized even more.

I hope everyone out there is safe. Feel free to chime in because my goy ass can't possibly ever feel the pain that the Jewish community must be going through right now. I just want to get this out there for everyone.

My partner just showed me the gods designs form Record of Ragnarok, most of which are hilarious. But this Mjolnr has a sonnenrad or the black sun symbol on it. The sonnenrad is a symbol created by the nazis. Do not add that to any cosplay designs

i hate having a bad memory because there was some guy in public walking in front of my sibling and me, and he had a bunch of nordic tattoos and a vest on that had a bunch of patches and elder futhark runes all along the bottom. and i could not for the life of me clearly remember what symbols were the nazi (folkish odinist) ones so i was just fucking shaking terrified until i could pull my sibling through an opening in the crowd to get away from the guy

anyways. i got home and looked it up and yeah that was a nazi lmfao. i fucking hate this bc I don't think I'm able to do anything about that since i am malnourished and tiny compared to most other people, and this guy was lowkey huge (tall and beefy). i wish i could do literally Anything about this kind of thing, i hate that these people feel safe to walk around with literal hate symbols proudly on display

BOBA AU - CHAPTER 1 EXTRAS

I had actually drawn a few more things than could fit within the 30-image-per-post limit. Here are the ones that didn't make the cut, with commentary!

(tw: mild animal abuse, n*zi mention, suggestive themes)

Zilch's animal companions. I named Carmina Burana and Tortellini, Gucci and Bosch were named by my friends - though Bosch was supposed to be called Hieronymus, it just didn't fit on the nametag lol

I wanted to illustrate some examples of Zilch casually mistreating/neglecting the animals but this was as far as I got. I don't think he would be a full on animal abuser, just... the type of person who likes having a bunch of pets to show off but doesn't really think about properly caring for them. He likes the aesthetics of animals much more than the logistics.

This was gonna be the chapter cover and I forgot. Oops.

This was just practice drawing the church characters from their sprites.

Zilch: I must say, it's an unexpected pleasure to run into another kindred spirit around here. I'm Zilch~

This scene was actually cut deliberately. I drew it before I decided exactly what the Nun's issue with Zilch would be and then once I did, I felt like it didn't fit anymore. Zilch is still excited to see someone else with ears and tail like him, but in the final version, he's a lot more derisive about it.

I imagine the Nun is, like, an actual animal-human hybrid whereas Zilch is a furry with a wallet that can afford bioengineered bodymods. (One day, my friends... one day...)

Zilch being flippant and Halara being dismissive/tsundere. Couldn't really find a place to put it but I still like the drawing - even if I did accidentally give Zilch human ears.

By the way, you might notice Zilch hasn't been wearing his cap. There are two reasons. One is to show off that his ears aren't actually connected to it. If I had the time to go back and redraw the prologue with him wearing it - so Halara's "holy fuck" reaction makes more sense here - I would. (Not really worth trying to fix though, not until the rest of the story is done.)

But the other reason is that upon looking closer at Zilch's original design, I thought it was a little too evocative of Nazi imagery and wasn't really comfortable with it. It's not really the same style of hat, sure, but combined with the swastikas in his eyes??? yeah no way is that not intentional. (I redesigned his eye symbols to be catlike slit pupils instead.)

I get he (or, the hitman, I guess) is supposed to be a villain, and a minor one, in the original game... but here I'm gonna flesh him out a bit more. So I guess in that sense the removal of the hat symbolizes his growth as a character beyond his terrible awful fascist upbringing lol (more on that in the Gumshoe Gabs soon)

If I were making this an actual game it would be fun to have Yuma get a fun little added gameplay element of using Zilch's Forte like he does with Halara's. He gets some little animal friends!!!

I imagined Zilch would ask to be carried, but Halara won't do it without getting paid an exorbitant amount. And then Zilch forks over the cash on the spot. Yuma screams internally. If he had that the whole time why were they even trying to negotiate over the coat???!? Why does he still have his own debt to pay if Zilch could just cover the whole thing up front????

Halara has to pretend not to be enthusiastic about this opportunity.

And then the mystery is solved!

Zilch feels indebted to Halara for saving him from the Nail Man, and wants to follow their example, turn it around, treat his animals better... his act of goodwill here is extremely performative, though. But, hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere!

Ultimately I cut this scene after coming up with the cat bed idea. (Was very tempted to have Halara cruelly taking the coat from the boy, but just decided to skip it instead.)

So Zilch kinda idolizes Halara now... which is fine... but then the morning after he really lets his simp flag fly.

Congrats on your furry boyfriend, I guess?????

Aziraphale unintentionally triggered Crowley's trauma in that scene. Crowley and Aziraphale are both supernatural beings who were not in danger in the 1793 scene but what they didn't factor in when planning this little game is that Jean-Claude the Executioner was an independent variable. Crowley came into the room to see a scene suggesting that Jean-Claude was trying to sexually assault Aziraphale and, while Aziraphale being magical meant that he was not in danger of being overpowered, Aziraphale's response was also pretty fitting with anybody in that position, which is to say that he was more shocked than anything else. It shows how sometimes it doesn't matter how much objective power you might seem to have in a situation, the shock and horror of it can make you feel powerless. Crowley froze Jean-Claude the moment he came into the room but he also came into Aziraphale saying "no" and being touched against his will by this creep of a guy, which wasn't fun for Aziraphale but it wasn't great for Crowley, either, as he's a survivor of this kind of thing.

While Crowley plays along, what happened is present underneath the scene and then resurfaces more directly near the end when Crowley puts Jean-Claude into Aziraphale's clothes and renders him unable to fully speak, just to make sounds of protest, before letting the other guards drag him to the guillotine. Jean-Claude is the only human in the series that we've ever seen Crowley just send straight to Hell, basically. Murdering, rapey bastard who touched Aziraphale? Satan can have him and right now, before he hurts anyone else. Crowley even gave The Nazis the chance to run in the church in 1941, showing just how much he tries not to harm anyone, but he was so (understandably) bothered by Jean-Claude that he actively made sure he got some karmic payback.

The apology dance that Aziraphale did in 1793 was a verbal apology afterwards. I'm sure the apology dance is mostly verbal. Crowley giving it a literal dance while doing a verbal dance in S2 was a joke on their language of literal things and symbolic meaning beneath it. What Aziraphale had really asked for was the little verbal dance they do when they apologize to one another and Crowley added the literal dance to it. Crowley shows in the same moment as he sends Jean-Claude to his death that he doesn't want to dwell on it if they can help it, as he moves onto "what's for lunch?", but Aziraphale apologized and got him to talk about it afterwards, which is what is alluded to in it being one of the times Aziraphale lists having done the "'I was wrong' dance."

You could also make an argument that it's why Aziraphale chose Paris, 1793 in 2008 in the first place. It's a given that they've had plenty of delicious crepes since the days of The French Revolution, yes? But it's doubtful they've found themselves in a situation like one that happened with Jean-Claude since. In 2008, they haven't been able yet to speak really freely when they agree to go to lunch but Aziraphale knows what happened the previous night, in terms of Crowley having been tasked with delivering the antichrist, etc.. He knows Satan made an appearance. He chose Paris, 1793 as a way of referring to a time when Crowley had been badly triggered but he and Aziraphale talked about it and they were okay as a way of expressing in 2008 that it's important to him that they communicate like they did in Paris.
