The theory that chara isn't evil is fundamentaly flawed and incorrect.
Throughout my binge watching MANY undertale theories I've noticed a pattern. I'll look in the comments of a theory that mentions the fact that chara is evil in some way and their will always be some comments like....
"ItS NoT ChARAs FAult ItS ThE PlaYEr"
While yes in the genocide route, one could argue the player's actions influenced chara's behavior. However.....
That Does NOT excuse their actions in pacifist and in the tapes.
I previously mentioned the theory that chara emotionally abused asriel in my Alphys theory.
(the video is almost done please be patient)
I am very convinced that this theory is true due to one line in particular....
Tumblr media
This dialogue from asriel....
The WHOLE point of this line is asriel realizing that Chara wasn't a good person.... Finally seeing through the manipulation and lies from his so called "best friend".... And the main reason asriel realizes you aren't Chara is because you show him true kindness and mercy...
Which when we take into consideration him thinking your chara in the ruins.
(Specifically in the route where you seek out and kill everyone, including his and chara's mother)
Is something Chara would NEVER DO.
This moment is a beautiful representation of someone standing up and speaking out against someone who manipulated and emotionally abused them....
And the theory that chara isn't evil throws this beautiful moment right in the DAMN trashcan....
Think about this logically... Do you REALLY expect me to believe Toby Fox, a beautiful storyteller would include this wonderful moment of a character standing up to the manipulation and abuse from someone who claimed to be their best friend...
Only to turn around and say that the person doing the manipulation wasn't really ever evil...?
Really...?
Let that sink in...
If your still not convinced hears some rapid examples of chara's evil behavior in the Pacifist route.
Insulting napstablook
Laughing at snowdrakes mother
"Big kids don't cry"
Asriel (chara's best Friend) literally saying they were not a good person.
Laughed after accidentally poising asgore
And if you want to argue Chara was laughing to hide their sadness about what they did.... THAT'S ALSO THEORY AND NOT CONFIRMED!
And you can't prove a theory using a theory unless both theories are backed by evidence...
Now do I think chara is truly evil....? No I don't...
It is theorized that they were abused on the surface and their hatred for humanity likely caused a lot of their issues...
So I don't think chara is completely evil. But as asriel said.... Chara is certainly not a good person....
But hey... That's just my little theory. If you have evidence to prove me right or wrong feel free to comment or reblog. I love hearing everyone's opinions and evidence that I may have missed.

NEW SOLARS FIC COMING UP ON AO3 !!
Hi all!
This is WinterBean (AO3 Writer) here. Just wanted to share with you guys that a new fic of mine will be showing up very soon hehehe... It's in the editing stage atm, but yes it has been sorta finished as a draft right now, sitting in between my first two fics in length (~12k+, although I'll have to change that depending on how long it gets after editing).
This focuses on Yumyulack and Korvo's relationship Post S5 Finale!
Here's a little summary of the story (S5 spoilers ahead!)
NAME: Papa Korvo
Potential Tags: Hurt, Angst with a Happy Ending, Fluff, One chapter is a bit of a whump, yes this is focused on Yumyulack and Korvo, Post S5 Finale, ~ Daddy Issues ~, Yet another excuse to hurt my favourite character, Taco Bell Parking Lot Fight Scene, Bad Communication, injuries and overprotective father moments, could be OOC but I can't tell by myself, etc etc...
Summary: Yumyulack and Korvo struggle with working through their issues as a family, and things end up going a little bit awry. After all, Yumyulack calling Korvo 'Papa' seems to have some lasting effects. In the end, Korvo just wants to be a father, and Yumyulack secretly wants to have a father, yet they simply cannot get over themselves and admit they do really see each other as family.
But when things begin to go wrong, Yumyulack's desire for a father figure becomes more of a need as some fights are just a bit too hard to handle all by oneself...
Anyway, hope you guys have a good day, and I really hope this little taster summary (I'll adjust it to fit the vibe more once it's up on AO3, in which I'll post the link here)!
See you guys there, hopefully! Comments / reblogs with any additions/ideas/opinions are welcome!!
-WinterBean ❤️❤️

Alright. I'll try my best.
Manipulation does have two definitons; but in the way of behavior; manipulation is when a person uses harmful, or controlling methods to either avoid responsiblity, conceal their true intentions and/or cause doubt and confusion.
Lying is part of this whole triad; to make an example. So is gaslighting. And sometimes blaming, critizing and shaming is included; but when that is the case, it is not to lie but to emotionally hurt or damage the indiviual.
Basically that's what some toxic people do. Emotionally manipulate. Surely you've heard of someone with a toxic friend? Maybe you were right and forgot this definiton (shrug)
Btw can I claim 👁🧩? Or 👁🔥? I might stay around.
yeah,, I think we get it now thanks. We have heard of toxic friends and had a few ourselves, I think we just didn't really understand the manipulation part,, if that makes sense,, either that or we did forget it ((memory loss be a bitch, especially when you have The Forgetting Things Disorder /silly))
thanks! And yeah you can be 👁🧩 anon! ^_^

I truly wish I was an only child,
all my sister's have done are fk me over and fuck me up mentally,
especially my lil sister she's turned into someone I can't stand to be around she's so manipulative I already can't trust anyone and they just make it sm worse.
But at least I know my mom has my back and will defend me,
She does things on purpose to trigger me and my mother.
She deflects and tries to make excuses for what she does wrong.
I know I should be more understanding and considerate about her mental health but it's tiring when she doesn't give 2 fucks about anyone else's I do not want to be the bigger or better person.
I will never accept or allow her being shitty to me or my mother that's never been me and it never will be.
She assaulted our grandpa hit him and tries to make me not tell my mom I've always told my mother anything that goes on so if it's serious I will tell her but apparently I'm the bad guy for that do I care honestly no.
She made the first move and hit him and bragged and laughed about inflicting pain on him and that she enjoyed it...
Now I wouldn't be so idk about that because I can be pretty violent too but not without reason.
We learned from a young age to never hit someone first to let them take the first hit on us then hit or whatever after...
But I guess it only stuck with me.

Do I actually ship Reid and Gideon? No
Do I like torturing Spencer? Obviously
So. One day, Gideon looked at Spencer - this young, beautiful, incredible man who worked for him, put all of his trust in him, and looked up to him - and decided he needed to own him. So. He starts to manipulate Spencer. Small things at first - asking him to play chess, patting him on the shoulder, complimenting him - but that soon progressed to bigger things. Chess became dinner, pats became lingering touches, compliments on his intelligence became comments about his appearance. It was all so easy for Gideon to do. Spencer was so sweet, so trusting, so sure that Gideon was a good man, the kind who would never hurt him. Not like that.
But Spencer was wrong, and it was only a matter of time before Gideon had manipulated his way into Spencer's heart, and then into his bed. He took great pleasure in teaching the boy how to do everything, and in punishing Spencer whenever he stepped out of line (their first weekend off, following meeting a certain actress, had been hell for Spencer but something else entirely for Gideon). Of course, they couldn't tell anyone, or be too obvious. That'd just get them in trouble. So, Spencer bit his tongue when Morgan made a vulgar comment about his lack of experience, and Gideon 'pretended' to go on dates, to keep up appearances. At least, Spencer thought he was pretending to, but Gideon. Well, Spencer was his, yes, but he wasn't Spencer's
Something he told Spencer firmly in the letter that he left. Finding out that none of it had mattered to Gideon, that Spencer had never been anything more than a challenge, a bit of fun, a project, broke the young man's heart. But he had to keep pretending that it was fine, it didn't matter. The rest of the team assumed his pain following Gideon's departure was because he had lost his mentor, his father figure. And sure, there had been a time when Spencer had thought of Gideon as such (it had been part of the fun for Gideon, twisting that idolisation and fondness), but in truth, Spencer was shattered because the closest thing he had to a first love (though now he knows he was manipulated to feel that way, that it wasn't real) had abandoned him and had never really cared for him at all
Or something like that. Idk, I just like making Spencer suffer

Was that [JI LI]? Oh no no, that was just [SHI MEI/SHI MINGJING], a [CANON CHARACTER] from [ERHA/THE HUSKY AND HIS WHITE CAT SHIZUN]. They are [TWENTY-FOUR ] years old, use [HE/HIM], and [ARE NOT] aware that they are not actually from Washington DC. Too bad they can’t stray from this city for long
Tumblr media
How long has your character been here Shi Mei thinks he's lived here since he was 8 but he's only been in D.C for a few weeks in actuality.
What is your character’s job He works as a blind travel doctor (like David Hartman), but instead of traveling to places worldwide, his focus is primarily on hospitals and clinics in D.C. that are understaffed and can't afford new doctors.
Where has your character been pulled from in their fandom Points to the end of the current timeline when he freed Chu Wanning, is blind and left as a traveling cultivator that heals all those who need it to atone; That traumatic and sad ending. He's taken from that, so even without his memories, he feels lost, unaccepted in all places and times, wondering why he is the way he is.
Has any magic affected your character It got rid of his memories and replaced it with a whole new life. He was adopted by an American family after being orphaned by his crazy father, killing and eating his mother. The adopted family fell through because they mistreated him, so he ran away and spent his life on the streets (open to found family plots). He already had a weak constitution, so he was weaker in terms of fighting, so he focused on healing and worked his butt off to get into med school and to get his job as a traveling doctor (though it's mostly interning now and working closely with a more experienced one just due to his age). Also, because he lived on the streets, he was used to manipulating others to survive and pave a place in a world that oppressed him (though in this place, instead of him following Hua Binan, Hua Binan is like the voice in the back of his head telling him what to do; Like an evil conscious that wants to survive. Though it's nothing like what happened in the novels; Just lying and playing up his innocence to get money and learn things to bring others down). He regretted everything once he got older, and while trying to atone, an accident occurred (he doesn't remember, but he knows his eyesight/eyes are gone from it a la Xiao Xingchen-like). That didn't stop him from wanting to atone, live a better life, and work as a travel doctor. Because he doesn't remember anything, he is depressed, he's lost, he doesn't know why, but he feels like he has regrets and pain that started centuries ago from a life he doesn't remember.
And any other information you might find useful for us and the other members to know!! Wiki Here Birthday: November 2 Siblings: Mu Yanli (half-sister) Zodiac: Scorpio Species: Half demon/half human Eye Color: Has no eyes/has a white bandage around where his eyes should be Hair Color: Black Scars: Missing eyes, various ones strewn about his body both from his life in ancient China and from being homeless in D.C. (because he did end up getting hurt here as well) Personality: kind-hearted, polite, wanting to reason with people instead of fighting, sweet temper and doesn't hold grudges, mediator, diplomacy and submissive, has a hidden bloodthirsty essence, manipulative, morally dubious Romantic Orientation: homosexual Sexual Orientation: homosexual
I am open to plots so please don’t hesitate to message me for plots and to know about his past !

Very well broken down. I have been focused on other things, and just ran into the supposed suicide attempt (2 people who are aware of James Somerton's irl contact info have stated He is not dead, and there's nothing to worry about) but this is basically what popped up into my head when I heard. He has a history of lying, and trying to twist facts to make himself the victim, and then using the sympathies of well meaning or naive internet users to form defense mobs (he's done this when smaller users called out his plagiarism or problematic behavior in the past, shown in HBomberguy's video). He's tried to downplay and excuse his action 2 times now since he was exposed by Toddintheshadows and HBomberguy only to fail in making himself the victim once again, and getting rightfully called out on his shitty behavior. So what better way to get the ultimate "I'm the victim here, and you should be feeling sorry for me and feeling guilty."-move than to set up a suicide and make a final spectacle of it, leaving the people who exposed your lying and cheating to be framed as bad guys lacking context. Whether there was an actual attempt or not doesn't really matter in my opinion. What matters more is why, if Somerton truly felt sorry and regret, why did he choose for the Nth time to make himself the victim from actions he himself had done for years and continue(-ed/-s) to do, even after his alleged passing? It really sucks that we have to be critical of someone saying they are suicidal, but this is one of those rare psycho pathic situations regarding a compulsive liar, with no shame that uses well meaning people as shields and swords against people he views as "aggressors/bullies". A lot of people may want to dumb this down to simple black and white terms; but the truth is Psychology does not work like that and this can't be so easily explained or categorized. The hard truth is: People like James are and should be treated as exceptions to normal forms of empathy and forgiveness
I wanna be blunt about this ongoing James somerton suicide threat issue but I don't want to connect it to my IRL Twitter to comment on the dogshit takes I'm seeing there or the good and well meaning but maybe too kind takes I'm seeing here.
Obviously, I hope that this is a false alarm cry for help fake threat. Yes, it would reinforce that Somerton is a self-centered egomaniac who can't handle consequences but that's preferable to dead.
But I work in local news and let me tell you something. I've covered half a dozen family annihilating murder suicides and heard hundreds of men making suicide threats over police scanners and a huge swath of these don't happen because they're depressed or because people are mean to them on the Internet. They're punishment. A person with an enormous amount of entitlement towards people around them gets backed into a corner and they punish the people closest to them by killing themselves or threatening to kill themselves.
No one wants to talk about this feature of suicide because...you want to help people who are struggling and guide them away from this path and being blunt about the fact that sometimes people die of suicide as a consequence of their own shittiness towards the world does not really help actively suicidal people. But suicide rates are higher in men not just because they have higher rates of untreated mental illness (a societal issue we must address for the sake of all) but because some people, often men, use suicide (but more often the threat of suicide) as a tool of abuse and control.
I'm not saying somerton is like, an icky abuser bad guy, he's just a run of the mill grifter scumbag, but his actions in the past show a clear pattern of escalating behavior that aligns with this.
Somerton gets called out -> somerton alleges physical threats of violence against himself and his fans rally around him supportively -> Harry calls somerton out in a bigger way -> Somerton says he's hospitalized but there are inconsistencies with the story but no one wants to talk about that because you wanna be nice-ish about a guy who just tried to kill himself and now he's trying to be framed as tragic but it doesn't really stick -> somerton apologizes again but his apology is rightly called out for lies and manipulative framing as well as his continuing attempts to profit off the community he betrayed -> James posts a suicide note publicly putting the onus of his own suicide on the loss of his friend Nick who he repeatedly threw under the bus and now everyone is rallying to say nice-ish shit and wring their hands in concern over poor james -> indefinitely repeat this vicious cycle forever until he actually does die or finally gives up and gets real, intensive therapy and a day job.
Thats not to say anyone's concern is misplaced, it's 100% better for him to be a living scumbag than a dead one. He deserves the chance to grow and learn and have a life outside of youtube.
But you don't have to portray this as the action of a sad depressed man who got bullied off the Internet. It's manipulation, whether he intended to go through with it or not and whether someone intervened or not. Not denying that internet bullying is a thing, I'm sure there were some people who were shitty directly to James but he made the choice to not unplug from this and to try and keep being a public figure rather than taking care of himself. He could have deleted Twitter, blocked anyone who was an asshole, gone to therapy and tried to move on with his life but if he'd deleted his channel he'd have lost monetization... Can't have that, right? So he posts some apology videos so his channel stays active and then complains about how ruinous this is while never trying to take real accountability.
But the reality is that people would have forgotten about him so quickly and maybe his job prospects would've been impacted but...that's on him, and that's for him to figure out but it's not actually life ruining. He chose to continue to engage knowing he'd get backlash and hate and he'd feel worse and worse and things would never get better without the time and space for people to forget.
He made the choice to make a public spectacle of his own alleged suicide. That is the action of someone who wants to put the weight of their suicide on someone else's shoulders and is morally wrong. He can be held to account for that, alive or dead.
