I don't have any experience with game modding, so I'm basically just pitching this I know, but I think a mod that delivers on the premise of cyberspace, that being that it's essentially an ai-generated mishmash of Sonic's memories and stages he's visited in the past would go so hard.

You could get really obscure, throw in some spinball, advance trilogy, or 8-bit stages, make some stages not purely one stage theme, like maybe some stages have similar stage concepts blended together because they're similar enough that Sonic would misremember them or get them confused.

Idk, seeing Toxic Caves, Secret Base, or Aqua Lake would be so cool. But really just diversifying the stages and references present in Cyberspace in general would improve that section and make it feel less like a cost saving measure and more like an intentional part of the story.

Rollback: Fix to Abnormal Rotation Speed for Neuvillette's Charged Attack

Dear Travelers,

After the Version 4.8 update, we have been paying close attention to the feedback regarding the new version, of which includes the fix to the abnormal rotation speed for Neuvillette's Charged Attack. After reading through all of your feedback, we truly understand everyone's concerns. We are sincerely sorry that this fix has resulted in an unsatisfactory experience for our Travelers, and we realize that no matter what the original intention was, modifications to any released characters would hurt the trust and support that our players have given us. Thus, we would like to sincerely apologize to all of you.

[TLDR: 1,600 free Primogems and Neuvillette change reversed in future update]

Prior to this, the dev team noticed that under certain circumstances, players could achieve high-speed rotations with Neuvillette during his Charged Attack by adjusting the sensitivity or mouse DPI settings, which allowed them to inflict 360° damage. However, for Travelers using different devices, achieving similar results proved to be difficult. Moreover, the high camera rotation speed would result in a visual blur of game scenery and enemies, which significantly deviates from the usual gaming experience.

The developers' original intention was to ensure that under normal gameplay Neuvillette's Charged Attack damage remained consistent without affecting the intended controls by Travelers (whereby a normal rotation speed or shaking could be achieved). With this premise, we aimed to adjust the rotation speed to a reasonable range, to ensure Travelers' consistent experience over different devices.

With multiple factors needed to be considered, repeated discussions and testing, the fix was implemented in Version 4.8.

After the fix went live and Travelers experienced it firsthand, players provided a lot of feedback regarding the fix. Some Travelers mentioned that using Neuvillette's Charged Attack now felt more clunky, which was indeed an oversight on our part.

Therefore, after gathering and compiling feedback and suggestions from Travelers, we have decided to rollback this fix in a subsequent update and issue a compensation of Primogems ×1,600 to Travelers accordingly.

Please stay tuned for further notices regarding the specific update schedule and issuance of compensation.

We once again sincerely apologize to all of the Travelers. We thank you for your support, it is because of all of you that Genshin Impact has come this far. In future updates, we will be more cautious in decisions related to content that has been released to provide the best possible gaming experience for Travelers.

Even if you don’t see the sexual undertones there, do you actually want your children to have THAT kind of relationship? Let’s take a moment to examine Sam and Dean, shall we?

Sam and Dean are grown men who, with the exception of Jess, have never had any long term deep emotional or romantic relationships. Even from a platonic standpoint, they essentially do not have real friends besides one another. They have bizarre boundaries and Dean literally wouldn’t have sex without getting a thumbs up from Sam and knowing he was watching IN CANON well into their 20s. (There were blackout curtains available for privacy, but Dean left them open so Sam could see their shadows for the entire thing. That’s fucking weird!!!)

Dean literally cannot cope with Sam dying to the extent that he sells his soul, gets tortured in hell, and never truly recovers from the trauma. Sam is so fucked up over Dean dying that he literally tries to open the gates of hell and march in there without a fucking plan just to get him out, or to join him. Sam and Dean do horrific things to themselves and others when their brother is in danger. Sam and Dean are toxic and a danger to everyone around them. They are codependent, entangled, boundary-less monsters who will let the world burn for one another. They are controlling abusive nightmares. They are terrifying and terrible and perfect exactly as they are and are not to be touched, but they are not something to aspire to.

They are men in their 30s-40s who can’t wash a dish without one another.

Are you really sure that that’s the type of relationship you want your children to have? REALLY?

Aaaaa the Mine has a bit of its own thing going on followers-wise. About a year ago I watched a documentary about mine workers, and I got really fascinated with the way they talked about their daily routine. The gist of it is that the work in the mines has to continue 24/7, otherwise the oxidation process inside will grow and no one really wants that, BUT they didn't say it like I did just now, they talked about it as if the mine was a living thing. "It starts to suffocate if there is no one down there" they said. And it really gripped my brain and now in Tginf lore this situation is litteral.

The Mine needs to have followers doing work inside of her, otherwise she starts to suffocate, HOWEVER, she is quite toxic, and her followers don't live particularly long if they stay below with her. Thus she is in a constant need of the new ones. And while the King of the road, for example, likes to play in infrastructure and gives all of his followers (besides the Knight) made up townsfolk roles like Radio host and Diner worker, the Mine dedicates all of the people she gets to either staying with her or promoting the service to her to the passing travellers. They are all Promoters, just under the different numbers.

What I'm getting to - she is quite busy...well... surviving to indulge in a petty rivalry the King of the Road and the Oxygen have going on, and without this rivalry there would've never been more than one knight on the road in the first place. The King of the Road made his Knight because he is very physically fragile and was in need of protection. Oxygen on the other hand is the only feudal that never had to rely on anyone in her existence in pre canon, and could actually allow herself to make a living being out of thin air just for the kick of it, thus she made the Dummy even though she didn't had any actual need for him besides entertainment.

BUT I STILL LIKE YOUR IDEA A LOT and honestly this would be incredibly fun to design. The checkers theme is so cool and fitting im gnawing at walls thank you for this ask 😭😭😭 (and sorry for this ramble)

i feel like a lot of Discourse (read: fandom wank) happens in places that have forgotten or never learned the death of the author theory

(which i know is not sacrosanct but it is very useful for handling fandom spaces, particularly fraught ones)

for those who don't know, the death of the author theory goes like this: as far as the work is concerned, the author dropped dead the second that the final word was published, and thus cannot comment, object to, clarify, or expand on anything that is not on the page.

my understanding is that it's most strictly used to mean that that the author's interpretation of the work doesn't matter, but can be expanded to state that nothing which is not on the page matters. imo, the expanded definition is particularly useful for fandoms and needs to be adopted on a larger scale.

because what it means is this:

it doesn't matter what the creator(s) intended. it doesn't matter what they said in an interview. it doesn't matter what the actors think, it doesn't matter what supplemental materials say or imply, even if they're signed off on by the creator(s). it doesn't matter if everyone involved in making it hates your interpretation and says that it's wrong.

they don't get to say that it's wrong. they dropped dead the second the last episode/book ended. their interpretation is simply one more in a vast sea of others.

listen to me, fandom spaces. i am taking your face in both of my hands. embrace the death of the author. you will no longer be bound to the (possibly fickle) words of the creator(s), your interpretation can no longer be the wrong one. if the text can be used to support it in any way, even twisty ways, it's valid. you don't have to jump through hoops to defend it against haters who say you're wrong.
