roy & grant and jesse & dick!!

although i have some complaints about this run (like how much they’re trying to push dick as some sort of “womanizer” etc etc)

i love how well thought out some of these dynamics are, how jesse and dick are so similar yet so different. the way she takes command of a group of people parallels dick so well! and grant’s explosive personality willingness to protect the people he loves reminds me of a younger roy.

really hoping to see more of these dynamics

my absolute fave lowstakes hc is that donna and garth and kory’s first proper impression of a vanilla human was dick grayson which like…. permanently fucked up their perception of what humans were supposed to survive. like they see dick jump out of a plane head first with no parachute and are like…. yeah that makes sense. humans can fold themselves into a discus and launch themselves at 80mph to take down enemies. that tracks. humans are just sorta like that ig

then the first time donna tries to throw roy as a javelin and he almost breaks his spine going through a wall and she’s like

donna and wally most complicated ass relationship in the entire roster of titans. they’re best friends they love each other they’ve been close since they were thirteen, donna couldn’t be in the same room as wally without wanting to throw up for a year. he saved her life, he took a piece of her personhood to do it. donna knows she’s being irrational but can’t help the loss of autonomy she feels when she looks at him. wally saved her life because he loved her and as much as he tries he cannot fault himself for this. donna was remade through wally’s memories, was remade in his image, and how much of her now belongs to her, how much of it came from him? wally saved her because he had to, because he loved her, because it happened, and it’s like she hates him for it and he doesn’t know how to break the barrier they have between them now. she dies again, close after, and he can’t fix it this time so what did it even matter?

For anyone else who is gonna struggle surviving the next 3 weeks with the angsty and tense situation of Callowmoore here's a few things from the last 2 episodes that I feel were underrated and will assist in trying to keep me sane/emotionally stable: - Matching messed up hands built for holding - Fearne nervously playing with her hair as she approaches Ashton - Ashton wanted Fearne to be either the last thing they saw if they died or the first thing they saw when they succeeded - Fearne's admittance corroborates Ashley's 4SD revelation that Fearne is in love with someone in the party but doesn't know how to process the emotions - Fearne wanted Ashton to be happy, while Ashton wanted to feel whole so they would be worthy of the Hells - Ashton twice tried to lead a search for Fearne, and instantly clocking onto Chetney saying he followed Fearne - Fearne making herself look as radiant as possible before giving Ashton the cold shoulder - Ashton only rose to Chetney's provocations until he said 'You hurt Fearne' Use how you will

Tim Drake’s got a history with cloning. So does Vlad Masters.

Tim is past his “cloning-deceased-best-friends-in-the-basement” phase. Really, he is. But back when he wasn’t, he’d had all sorts of research compiled, on every type of cloning tech ever recorded.

One company, VladCo, had negotiated itself an amount of Cadmus’ exclusive resources to study the interactions between cloned tissue and recently-discovered ectoplasm. The quasi-sentient abilities of ectoplasm, in theory, might help fill a host body with a real soul.

The contract Tim had dug up is frankly insane. VladCo is in no way beholden to share the results of its study, nor does it need to return any of the equipment, and VladCo’s relationship with Cadmus is under a strictly worded gag order. Nobody in their right mind would’ve signed it. Cadmus did, and aside from a few million dollars, Vlad Masters got his machines gratis.

And now, a couple years after the contract was signed, fulfilled, and buried away, VladCo has done a grand total of nothing with it.

The guy’s rich. And a genius. There’s no way all that tech’s been left to collect dust in storage with how aggressively it was acquired. Masters was going to do something with it, and it was going to be revolutionary. (Tim had actually planned to steal into VladCo for notes, before the thing with the Brain, and Cassie finding out, and the intervention that followed… yeah. He’s over it.)

It’s suspicious as all get out. Eventually, though, the whole Masters deal took a back burner to a crisis (followed by a crisis… followed by a crisis).

But now with Kon and Bart back, and a few less things on his plate, Tim thinks the responsible thing to do is finally head a classic Team investigation to Master’s Manor, Wisconsin.

(Nightwing in JLA/Titans #2)

One of my favorite quotes ever! JLA/Titans does a great job at really getting to the core of the difference between the two organizations. To be a member of the JLA is something to be proud of. It's about putting the safety of the many, of the world first. To be a member of the Titans is to have a group of people who will love you and protect you, would do anything to save you, while also saving the world. It was a place for the kids and teens and disenfranchised to feel safe and cared for. No kid with a perfect life joins a cause like this, they're all escaping something and the Titans provides that safe space to escape to.

I love the JLA, this is in no way a bash on them. I think they're important, and when you factor in the Titans "team is family" mentality they cover a gaping hole the Titans would leave if they were the only team.

But this "the team is family and will protect each other no matter what" is a huge part of what makes the Titans MY team. It's not perfect, and it often causes more problems than it fixes. And sometimes, the bonds they have can be too much to overcome when faced with extreme loss (Graduation Day and the dissolution of the Titans), but they always come back to it. The ones who need that family, that connection will always be there when needed because the others would be there for them.
