That all ends with this post. Let me keep it simple and straight to the point. Your brain is not designed to hold an overload of information at once for something so straightforward as the pursuit of goals - there is never a need to go down a YouTube or Tumblr self care post rabbit hole when they all essentially regurgitate the same, core information.

Besides, no amount of information will prove beneficial if you aren't willing to commit to goal execution.

2. Identify your ULTIMATE goal

Look back on all the years that have gone by. What aspect of your life makes you feel like you need to improve? What do you truly want to achieve right NOW?

Was it the lack of exercise you got? Your low grades? Your poor relationships with others and yourself? Mental health issues? Unhappy with your job? Financial stress? Pinpoint the areas of your life that carry the most weight at this time.

Depending on what you feel, you may feel unhappy with the way you handle your responsibilities or the way you can't seem to navigate through your hardships.

Yes, not even the sky's the limit! You can be and do whatever your heart yearns if you know it's your calling or if you truly know it'll make you happy but when it comes to goal setting, we will pile so much more than we can handle at once and you know what that does?

As we try to tackle all these goals/habits, it gets overwhelming- unsustainable.

And because it got overwhelming, you'll start to "fall behind" on being consistent in every one.

If you "fail" to be consistent or expect yourself to be a master at it within the first 2 weeks, you'll throw in the towel and say "Well. Since I can't do this, I might as well give up altogether."

3. Create a SIMPLE, fail proof plan that works for YOU.

Print out a paper with a time block schedule, set it infront of your desk, make it a widget on your phone, tape it on your room wall- anywhere where you can easily keep track of the time and what you should be doing now and in the next hour.

4. Reflect, always!

Keep a track of your consistency. 

This doesn't have to be an inconvenience or all set to be pretty and aesthetic.

Print out a habit tracker and tape it, along with a pen on a wall, next to your vanity, wherever is convenient and hard to miss so you can easily mark it off.

If it's close to bedtime, make it a routine to check what you have yet to accomplish.

You knocked off learning how to code, your phone says you walked 10k steps, but you see that you forgot to drink water? Then drink a sufficient glass of water, and place a check in the box.

Quick. Simple. Easy. No excuses.

There. 1 week goes by, soon 3 weeks, then a month, that month turns into 2, then 3, and those "goals" are now habits. A part of your daily routine. They become non-negotiables.

Just like how it's routine for you to go to wake up, brush your teeth, and get dressed everyday. 

Now that you created a set of habits, you can build upon them. In a few months time when you feel that it is right, create another action plan and introduce 3 new habits.

For example, you can try another dance style, wake up at an even earlier time, and you can learn how to speak another language or to put it simply, make it goal to reach an advanced level of your new skills

Another example could be towards a more specific ultimate goal. Like taking care of your outward appearance.

haruka and what each animal on his case represents, an analysis

before we begin, general CW for the issues haruka's story deals with (neglect, child abuse, animal death, etc).

Throughout the MVs, animals play an important role in Haruka's story. I think each of these represents a part of Haruka, both how he perceives himself and how he wants to be perceived. Even if Haruka presumably has numerous animal victims, the ones most emphasized are dogs, fish, and rabbits.

1. RABBITS

Haruka is seen on many occasions with his bunny plush. It’s so important that it appears not only in Weakness and Undercover but also in graffart’s collab, where each item is importan on the character's story in one way or another (like mahiru and the mantis). I see it as a toy from his childhood that he’s very attached to.

The fact that it’s specifically a rabbit is interesting to me, as the rabbit is a prey. If we go to the unique point of view of Japanese culture, rabbits are also quite related to the moon. The lunar cycles are also an important symbol in weakness, showing white, blue and finally red moons over a red sky. The origin of the relationship between rabbits and the moon is debated between admiration as they are perceived as objects of fertility and health because of their reproduction, or a legend that spread from India:

"a rabbit can't tolerate seeing people die and jumps into the fire to become food, then Indra rewards him for his sacrifice and takes him to the moon."

The theme of self sacrifice and the ultimate reward one receives for it is reinforced by Taoism, where the hare, like the moon, dies to be reborn and represents immortality. More popularly, rabbits are also associated with good fortune. It being white also points to innocence, and in turn to the pursuit of something that upon attainment brings discovery, an idea popularized by Alice in Wonderland. Even if it's more seen as a weak and tender animal, it has also been culturally represented as cruel and capable of aggression, closer to what Haruka is than the role of merely a prey. Haruka wants to be seen as weak prey that the strong hunt, to be pitied and loved for it. To be perceived as someone to be protected, as he cannot defend himself, but this is contradicted by his own actions both in weakness and throughout milgram. The prey becomes the predator and gives way to the next animal;

2. DOGS

The dog is universally a symbol of loyalty and the effort it takes to form a training bond between a wild animal and a human. Dogs are seen accompanying men and being obedient to women.

Dogs are perceived as creatures that love unconditionally and are capable of giving everything to protect those they love.

In terms of personality and behavior, they are the closest animals to Haruka, who accepts and actively seeks to be guided and to be faithful for someone, to be used to feel useful and not abandoned.

Even if they are domestic, the dogs whose breeds are distinguishable are large dogs, considered to be hunting dogs. Haruka being represented as a dog also creates a parallel with kotoko, who is represented by a wolf.

However, whenever a dog is featured on screen it is accompanied by loud instrumentals and rather graphic visuals. In Weakness, child Haruka accepts and expresses affection towards the animal, who apparently is suddenly injured and runs away from him into a forest, where he is disoriented and confused. Haruka follows its footsteps and ends up seeing his hands in horror, realizing that he's the cause of its injury.

The perspective of present Haruka isn't so different, who now attacks it, destroying it until the only remains are the necklace it was wearing, ultramarine liquid and eyes, which I consider represent the opinions of others and looks that judge him.

I think the fact that this dog bleeds the same color as Haruka's is a not-so-hidden hint at the fact that, in a way, Haruka is ending up with a part of himself (this time a bit smaller, not being human yet) to escape people's judgments.

There are also many sayings that by mistreating someone, "you are treating them like a dog", like an animal, something inferior, but that still sticks to what the human wants and believing all their words.

In AKAA, we see that instead of being a mix of at least two dogs, they're now separate entities and different breeds that dissolve as Haruka sings about being reborn. Again, dogs often appear in stories as spirit guides, helping humans enter and exit the realm of the dead safely, representing a middle ground between life and death. Dogs are followers of their owners, not leaders, and no matter how close a bond they form with humans, they are rarely recognized as equals to us.

3. FISH

Most of the similarities between Haruka and fish are presented visually, with Haruka being a passive spectator of his own life, observing others from behind something akin to a glass wall that separates him from normal people. He's constantly surrounded by water drowning, and in one scene is even presented at a fish-eye angle, being watched by his mother.

In AKAA we can see two specific species of fish.

Yellow bobfish: they're very complicated fish to keep in aquariums because they release toxins when stressed and are naturally solitary once they reach adulthood, it's not recommended to have more than two in the same tank because they are territorial and aggressive among their own species, however it's friendly and sociable with fish of other species. It responds to stress with aggression and attacks its own kind (in this case other weaklings) just like Haruka.

Clownfish: they usually inhabit anemones, forming a mutualism in which they find shelter and food. Toxins from anemones don't affect them as they develop immunity to them throughout their lives to eventually live in them. Anemones benefit from clownfishes cleaning its tentacles. Clownfish often eat parasites and are also known to steal more food from anemones than what they give in return. They are also capable of changing sex from male to female. Seeing this particular species depicted tells us a lot not only about haruka, but about his relationship with Muu, as for the first time it's not depicted as a mutual need, a codependency that endangers their lives if they become separated, but a mutually beneficial relationship where both can exist separately, but live much more comfortably by relating to each other in this way.

Extra: Insects (specifically butterflies) and parasites.

The symbolism of transformation and metamorphosis is so present that it even took the title of both voice dramas. Caterpillars can only wriggle and are no different from any worthless worm, but after a season, they manage to transform into a butterfly: beautiful, admirable, much more memorable and lovable. Having been forgiven and meeting Muu, Haruka manages to "fulfill" his metamorphosis and become someone he believes is better. Still, from what is shown in AKAA, it doesn't seem that Haruka is entirely happy with this change happening - the monarch butterflies represents ambition and perseverance, but it seems to be rejected by haruka, who crushes it in his hands

Haruka longs for this transformation, but is unable to fully accept it happening. I think it's because no matter how much he changes and wants to be someone else, he can't get rid of the disastrous image he has of himself, or he has forced himself not to change so as not to be disliked even more by others.

Now, Kotoko is an important figure to Haruka despite not interacting much. It highlights both his codependency (or mutually beneficial relationship) with Muu as much as the fact that he assimilates a parasite.

This is a point I've made several times before, but Haruka's way of socializing is based on taking parts of others and melding them on himself, especially women. It started by stealing his mother's necklace and taking it as his own, continues by killing Mirai and stealing what he lacks, and ends now in a much more obvious way with Muu, imitating her personality, accepting her accessories and the clothes she chooses for him and even copying her sprite pose a bit.

If he had become closer to Yuno and Mahiru, I'm sure he would also start imitating their behaviors in one way or another. Haruka lives by taking parts of the women he surrounds herself with, and he seems to want to take something from kotoko as well, but it's still unclear what he wants.

What does all of this have in common?

Not only is the theme of change and rebirth prominent, but every animal that Haruka comes to hurt relates in one way or another to his desires, thoughts, or parts of himself. Figuratively, we can say that Haruka's case is about him eliminating and hiding every part of himself, until he murders his human victim, Mirai, who at the same time is the closest and most prominent part in him, with whom he wishes he could reconcile and exist together, accepting each other - for, unlike his other victims, Mirai is often presented as a friend and someone Haruka misses. I have yet to write Mirai's analysis on its own, so whether she is also a part of Haruka or not and whether all his kills are figurative is up to each one's choice, I tend to wander between both sides because I like both scenarios. In a less figurative way and taking the case more literally, these facts are simple trivia and interesting symbolism to consider when analyzing Haruka.

apparently I've been on and off the hellsite for 15 years?!

I might actually be having feelings about that.

Lord knows this place isn't perfect, and it remains at the whim of whoever's currently holding the pursestrings, but tumblr remains the only social media site I can spend time on without quickly feeling like I'm about to have a panic attack. (it's a combination of the busyness of their interfaces + content + menopause transition, which has decided instead of moodswings I just get overwheening anxiety ready to spiral at the drop of a hat).

I used to joke about being fandom old but let me be really blunt here: I will be 48 this year. Don't ever let them tell you you're too old for fandom. I'll bet you anything I'm a long way from the oldest user on here. For most of my fandom life I was/am a lurker; a full-time job, an offline hobby that takes up a lot of my time and, well, age-related stuff like family bereavement and my own health take up a lot of my mental bandwidth.

But a decade or so into my tumblr existence I watched the Terror in lockdown and was so discombobulated that I wrote a fic and now i have four - FOUR! - fics on AO3 and plans to write more (always plans, eh) and I cannot thank Terror fandom enough for being so welcoming and wonderful, I am trying to be more active in fandom in general but it's a stop-start thing.

Over these 15 years I've posted and reblogged stuff that 2025 me would look at and say eeshk, mate. That's part of growing older and learning. I don't take those posts out of my archive (unless someone specifically asks me to), because to remove those posts from my tumblr history seems to me a 1984-ish rewriting of history, a pretending that I always knew *insert celebrity man who turned out to be an utter shitheel here* was iffy, which I didn't. Alas.

(and good lord, there's so much Glee on there in the early years. Shout out to my fellow Glee survivors. I met my two closest fandom friends through Glee. They live on a different contintent but we Zoom every week and I'm going to visit them this year and meet the four cats and a rabbit I am a long-distance auntie to <3)

Anyway, I firmly believe that tumblr has helped me stay just a little bit weirder than society wants me to and that will always be a good thing (now more than ever). Thanks to this inimitable place, I have a list of blorbos that range from the first man killed at the Charge of the Light Brigade to a bloke who's playing his new single on Jimmy Fallon next Tuesday.

Hi everyone I’m sorry I haven’t updated as much as I planned, but I thought I’d share pics of how everything’s going in my garden (6/23/24)

The tomatoes have exploded and there’s lots of flowers. I’m hoping it’s not too hot and we actually get fruit this year (last year got so hot our tomatoes didn’t even flower during the normal growing season).

Next is the corn, which are also doing really well. It’s the sweet corn variety. Funny story, I planted the corn seeds without knowing you kind of need a lot to get a good crop because it’s wind pollinated. However, we have about 10 mature stalks and I’m hoping to get at least a small harvest. A few of the stalks are taller than me (5’3”/160cm) and one of the ears growing already has silk growing out of the ear.

Next are the cucumbers. One of the plants has a few eggs on the bottoms of the leaves so I used some Sevin dust. I’m hesitant to use neem oil because I’ve noticed lots of ladybugs in the garden and don’t wanna kill them.

The carrots are doing well after being transplanted. Unfortunately I don’t remember when I started the seeds so I’m not sure if they should be farther along by now (I believe I planted around late April/early May—late for seeds I know but I’ve got a long growing season and few frosts).

The various fruit trees/bushes/shrubs are doing well. Pictured are a thorny blackberry vine, an olive tree, a papaya tree, and a babcock peach tree. Everything is doing amazing. The blackberry is producing, the 4 peaches are growing and changing color while the olive, fig and papaya have been putting in some major growth/establishing.

Last is the melon patch. It’s also exploded and there are so many watermelons throughout the whole patch of varying sizes from bb-sized to the one pictured with my hand. I didn’t see any cantaloupe yet, but there’s lots of flowers. I haven’t actually gone into the patch due to how crowded it is (I’m hoping if we do get some we’d be able to see them when they get big enough). I’m estimating we have between 12-15 watermelon at least so far.

However, not everything is doing so well. The rabbits have been so destructive, they killed my producing pole bean, the peppers I transplanted into the ground and most of the radishes, leaving 2 left for us (I did start new seeds though because radishes are some of the quickest vegetables you can grow from seed to harvest).

For things I didn’t cover like the grapes, blueberries, raspberries, guava trees, the apple tree, the lemon tree, various flowers, onions, potatoes, and pineapples, they are all doing good as well. I also wanna add that I did start new bush beans/pole beans as well as various kinds of peppers (jalapeños, hot salsa blend peppers, golden bell peppers) in containers to make up for the ones that got chewed. Hopefully those will make a nice fall harvest. The potatoes are almost ready to be harvested and the blueberries and raspberries have had berries ripen one at a time due to how small they are (this is the first year for berries).

As for other things I have planned, I have a few art pieces I’d like to post if that’s something y’all are interested in. I also would love to talk about my experience with gardening and mental health but any and all posts related to that will be labeled with appropriate trigger warnings.

Update: I’m literally crying (like actually crying fr) because I think the reason I can’t find my favourite mbappe fic on here is because the person who wrote it deactivated last month as well as one of their friends who I also used to interact with over anon.

I took a break from tumblr for a month and it was suddenly gone from my likes, couldn’t search it up or NOTHING, literally spent an hour searching for it and couldn’t, but I remembered that the author had mentioned that they’re Arab and then I went on ANOTHER rabbit hole in the search and then I saw a username similar to the one I remembered and then I searched that up and while the fic that they wrote was recent and probably deleted, someone else had reblogged some of their old fics and they have the same format and all as the fic that I remember AND NOW I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THAT PERSON DEACTIVATED AND THATS WHY I CANT FIND MY LITERAL FAVOURITE MBAPPE FANFIC BY MY LITERAL FAVOURITE WRITER ON HERE AND MY OTHER FAVOURITE BLOGGER ON HERE DEACTIVATED AS WELL(in terms of writing, I guess @hopefulromantic1 and @iamquiantrelle are moving up three spots on my top 10 favourite active fanfic writers list now considering that emjaye stopped writing too, she was so sweet 😢)

Got a Pizza Tower AU in the works! Going to call it Cocktail Tower!

The main man Peppino is a bartender and owns a tavern instead of a pizzeria. So far I have references for Peppino and Gustavo, written ideas for other characters, and I definitely plan on making more in the future!

American-Italian. Raised in the south of the US and initially spoke with a southern drawl, but code-switches to Italian to give a better presentation of himself towards others. Only uses his drawl if he is completely comfortable. Southern expressions (i.e., y'all & dagnammit) may still show up when emotional or caught of guard.

Hospitality is in his blood. He will gladly help someone if it is in his capability.

Always have to be doing something. Either that be cleaning up or simply talking to someone, anything works.

Is able to keep his anxiety from showing, but can quickly crack under pressure if he gets surprised. When heavily stressed, he bites his fingers. He wears cloth gloves in hope to stop his bad habit or at least cover it.

Gustavo & Sous the Rabbit

Cook at Peppino's Tavern.

37 yrs. old.

Gustavo is 4'10" and Sous is 8"

Is good friends with Peppino, but is more reserved and stern when it comes to others. Due to having a more reserved personality, it can be hard for him to connect to others, but he is willing to try if the other seems genuine.

The adopted introvert to Peppino's extrovert and has help Peppino through many hurdles during his time knowing Peppino. If there is something Peppino isn't willing to talk about, most definitely Gustavo has heard, seen, or consoled about it.

Sous is a black & white French Lop rabbit.

Sous appeared outside the tavern one day injured. Gustavo took pity and helped bring Sous back to health. Sous decided to not leave Gustavo nor the tavern, and since then has been Gustavo's pet. He seems to also like Peppino, but will always go to Gustavo first if he is in the room.

How the Kwamis work in my AUs

As per an ask, I want to go over how I've reworked the kwamis in my AUs. In general, they primarily function the same, but I'll get into those deviations here as well. Now, let's begin:

General:

The kwamis received a massive overhaul. No longer are they creatures to be contained and kept in check. They are divine entities that have their own autonomy and freedom. Their concepts have been reworked to feel more like actual abstract concepts rather than their powers, like Illusion or Teleportation. The kwamis, once their jewels are activated, are bound to the person and cannot be removed by anyone aside from the holder. Furthermore, there are 27 main kwamis that I use that come with a pair. The paired kwamis function as opposites, yin and yang. Paired kwamis can cancel out the others powers, working as a balance. When paired holders come in contact, they will neutralize the use of each other's powers. I.e. if the freedom holds connection, freedom cannot teleport and connections can't communicate telepathically. The opposites are also immune to the effects of the other. I.e. sorrow uses their sadness aura, joy is unaffected. The exception to this ruleset is the five remaining kwamis of this set of 27. These five have no counter and can swing either way depending on the hearts of mortals. I.e. Health being able to either cure or inflict diseases depending on a person's heart and agenda.

The kwamis, and their pairs and new concepts, are as followed.

Lastly, each pair possesses a Miracle power that must be used with the other half willingly. I.e Creation can create anything permanent, only after Destruction has destroyed something of equal value to be created. Or Connection can broadcast a message that transcends language and distance with the assistance of Freedom.

Now, the powers work differently based on the AU. So, let's dive into that:

Miraculous AU:

The first AU I started and is still ongoing. This is full of experimental ideas that not all carried over to the other AUs. I will explain them and give a brief why they didn't carry over:

The holders would get stronger the more they used their powers and the stronger the bond was with their kwami. It works for this AU, as there is an essence of time to allow this. In the others, the stakes are higher, so the systems work differently. It is also integral to the story as the bonds with the kwamis have plot relevance, especially with Papillon and later Lord Bug.

The kwamis fall into one of three categories based of their concepts: Defensive, Combative, Hybrid. I honestly don't know what I was thinking or why it seemed like it was a good idea at the time, but it is extremely flawed. Essentially, kwamis would offer special protections or skills the closer they were with their holders. I.e. the ladybug holder couldn't be hurt, but wasn't good at fighting while the black cat holder excelled in combat, but was a glass cannon. It is a messy system and didn't carry over.

Greater and lesser powers. So, the powers in this AU were to gauge what would work, carry over, and figure out what was OP. While powers have changed, the system did too later on. In this AU, you have holders with three sets of powers. Lesser powers they can use more freely while greater powers were limited to one use per transformation until they were stronger. The third power was their miracle power, the Miraculous. The Miraculous stayed the same, but the system of lesser and greater powers changed.

Salvation - Game of Gods and Men:

Here's where the deviations and changes begin. Salvation introduces the concept of Holders and Avatars with different rules for each.

Holders are what you get in the show. Has to transform to use powers, active their powers through a phrase, and overall limited. They have one power to use as many times as they want, but typically a lesser power.

Avatars are demigods. They are the mortals that consumed (yes, I said consumed) the essence of the kwami, i.e. the kwami itself. Providing they survive the ordeal, they are forever changed. Their bodies are essentially dead save for their still beating heart. They don't need food, sleep, breath, and are sterilized. They cannot fall ill to mundane diseases nor killed by worldly means. The only way to kill an Avatar is by another Avatar's powers or weapons (unless you are the turtle). With all the powers that they gain, they gain access to an unleashed form that is their true form. A mix of human and kwami, their Avatar forms, but only once they've mantled their concepts and stay true to their concepts.

Avatars gain three additional powers, giving them four. While there is no technical limit, there is. Each Avatar has a pool of power they can draw from. If they tap it out before resting or eating, then they will draw on their own life force. Should an Avatar do this, it will shorten their lifespan until they die. Furthermore, an Avatar that truly embodies their consumed concept can achieve their Avatar form. While in this form, they gain two more powers, but only while in this form.

So, yeah, this one. No activation phrases needed for powers, strong variations of the powers that make them like gods, and seemingly unlimited use. However, should the holders sustain enough damage or has used all the power reserves of the kwami, they'll de-transform and pass out from the strain.

Furthermore! There is a concept within this AU known as Soulbound. This is soulmates for kwamis. Kwamis can become soulbound with mortal souls they have been with in different incarnations of that mortal's life. This level of a bond between kwami and mortal allows for both to feel, experience, and think as one. And, yes, Marinette and Longg are soulbound. And if you think it's a massive advantage, you are right, but also oh so wrong.

The kwamis come in vials of tattoo ink (well, the essence of their powers, making them more like blessings/curses). The "holder" has the ink tattooed into the skin and the process, like Salvation's Avatars, can kill because of the sheer pain of having the living essence of a literal god tattooed onto mortal flesh. Those that survival can only be killed by overexertion of powers or by another "holder".

The "holders" get two powers they can use freely, and an ultimate power. This ultimate power can only be used when they "transform" a la venom style. This form and the power with it are extremely taxing on the holder. They can only maintain the form for so long, but are unstoppable in it. Once they use their ultimate, they immediately de-transform.

First, I have no problem with people who are vegans, do whatever the hell you want with your health and personal choice for yourself.

Edit: And I understand not all people who following plant based diet are doing this but still But I don't get people who insist on feeding their dog vegan food??

Doing it for the environment? You are already contributing to minimizing the harm that is done to the environment by choosing a different diet. Why dragged the dog into this?

The pups are not involved, nor they understand the complexity of human diet, politics, morality, and the slow decay of the environment that is caused by human civilization.

Dogs doesn't have to make a penance for the environment.

Minimizing animal exploitation in huge farm? You can buy eggs from a free-range chicken source, catch your own fish, or buy meat from a local hunter or sustainable local farm

Still feeling uncomfortable to feed animal product to your dog? Maybe you should get a different pet? Like a rabbit? Or I don't know let your dog hunt on their own and let nature takes it course, it's not your fault. It's just nature doing its own thing.

Yeah, there's argument that you can give them supplement or vegan kibble for dog? But animal product is already there, just cut off the middle man and give your dog the real thing...

I mean yeah dog is omnivorous, but their diet is still more on the meat side, not to mention they came from wolves, they evolved to eat meat. Setting the argument of manufactured vegan dog food aside, why go out of your way preventing your dog from eating the meat that they like and beneficial for the pup because of your own personal politics/morality, it is just odd. Dogs likes meat/egg/fishes, why take away their food preference?

What would you do if doggie sees a chicken breast lying on their floor? Take away the chicken?

Reminded me of those parents who hardcore banned their kids from eating sweets. But it's even worse because in this case animal products are good for dogs and an important part of their diet unlike candies for humans, Dogs evolved to eat animal product, they cannot comprehend your reasoning for not allowing them to eat meat nor they care anyway. I have the same thoughts about dog race or dog beauty contest. Airbud doesn't care about medals, maaan...

Personality Shirley is a single mom with two kids at home and she always puts them first. Her main focus is taking care of her family and working as a sword for hire puts food on the table. She’s a sweet gal, even if her day job involves a lot of killing. She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she’s cheery, friendly, and outgoing. She’s not book smart, but she has emotional intelligence. She’s also a very even-tempered person.

She’s talkative and the kind of person who’ll strike up a conversation with a total stranger like they’re old friends. Being a little dimwitted, she can be taken advantage of. She’s far too trusting for her own good. She is self-aware she’s not the smartest person in the room. 

People often look at her and think, “There’s nothing going on behind those eyes.” She’s basically a Labrador Retriever as a half-orc. 

Background Shirley is the product of an arranged marriage that was created to form an alliance between an orc tribe and the human village of Northwick. Her father relocated to the human village as part of the alliance since Shirley’s mother didn’t want to leave her hometown.

Fortunately, her parents did get along even if it was a loveless marriage. They were able to come together as friends to give their daughter a good life. It gave Shirley an unusual advantage compared to many other half-orcs. Her parents may not have been in love, but they did love her. She was raised in her mother’s village among humans. While she struggled to find acceptance, her good nature helped her worm her way into the hearts of the townspeople. She slowly got people to tolerate her and even won over some genuine friends. 

Her father trained her to be a fighter and she became set on protecting Northwick. She worked as a guard and this helped earn her respect among some of the higher ranking villagers. She even met and married a human paladin, Kayne Evenwood. They would have three children together, Galvyn and Bilga. Sadly, not long after Bilga’s birth, Kayne drowned when he was caught in a current while trying to save a small child who slipped into the river. He was able to save the boy, but lost his life in the process.

Alone, she took jobs as a sword for hire to take care of her children. When a tadpole got lodged in her brain, she had to set out to save herself and her children. While away, the kids stay with their grandparents.

Likes: Her children, her late husband, giving her kids a better life, children (in general), animals especially dogs, giving to charity, volunteering, social events, talking with people, early mornings, and romance novels

Dislikes: Anything that could harm her family, being away from home, criminals, bullies, people judging her based on being a half-orc, loneliness, bugs, hurting people who don’t deserve it, math, 

Fears: She’s afraid of anything happening to her children. Outside of her children, she’s terrified that she won’t be able to protect her village or that peace between the humans and nearby orcs will be compromised. She hates it.

Quirks: She talks pretty loudly, even when trying to whisper. There’s a running joke amongst her friends that she just CANNOT whisper even in a life or death situation.

Fashion Sense: She’s a simple woman with a simple wardrobe. It’s all about durability for her. As a woman with two kids, she doesn’t dress up fancy. (Bilga is just going to spit up on it.) She does like to wear nice things from time to time though. In those cases, she keeps it simple and elegant.

Family: 

Nybarg Whiteclaw — He’s Shirley’s orc father. He was offered to the humans for the marriage contract simply because he didn’t really fit in with the other orcs. While he’s not cuddly and sweet, he is agreeable. He doesn’t actually like to turn to violence in most cases and prefers to just let people live and let live. He loves his daughter and grandchildren with every part of his being.

Enid Whiteclaw — She’s Shirley’s human mother. She’s a strong-willed and kind woman. She quickly earned her husband’s respect shortly after meeting each other, mostly because she’s an assertive person. She’s a bit pig-headed and she was definitely the head of the household. She loves her daughter and grandchildren more than anything. Enid and Nybarg are not in love, but grew to love one another as friends.

Kayne Whiteclaw Evenwood — He’s Shirley’s late husband. He was a human and a paladin who swore to the Oath of the Ancients. He fell in love with Shirley’s big heart. He was honorable, brave, and kind.

Galvyn Whiteclaw Evenwood — They’re Shirley’s 5-year-old kid. 

Bilga Whiteclaw Evenwood — She’s Shirley’s 1-year-old daughter.

I slightly ignored how DnD does half-orc aging. I’m treating her more like she just ages the same as a human instead. If you don’t like it, you can fight me. But don’t actually because I can’t fight.

Something I realized is that gege akutami doesn't create many punishments for ''bad'' characters other than death. I think an interesting punishment for the geto character was to create a binding vow in which he was obliged to save humans and never harm them I would have liked to have seen him save those he hates and abhors most.

Hmm.....I think trying to think of JJK as a story that punishes the "bad" is very limiting in understanding arcs for these characters and overall theme. JJK isn't written to punish the bad guys, but I think to highlight different ideologies. One thing that's represented by our villains is the horrendous work culture and rampant reduction in mental wellness in our society- this is shown very clearly through curses. So if curses(who are often the villains) represent the real-world issue of toxic work culture, lack of access to proper mental health facilities, and a billion other things that cause suffering to humans, you can't just punch/punish a curse because you cannot punish the very real issue of systematic injustice like that.

The bad guys don't get 'punished' the way you're describing because in reality that's not possible. You cannot punish a volcano for erupting (Jogo), you cannot control, or create a manner for the way humans hate each other, to be punished(Mahito). If you've noticed, even death doesn't stop the influence our villains have on the story.

The curses that are killed are supposed to come back and take new form. You cannot control such large concepts like depression, tsunamis, climate change, disease, and punish those things. Therefore, you cannot punish the JJK villains in such a planned manner.

Now Geto isn't a curse right? So yes he could be shackled and made to save the people he hates but what's the point? Geto is a character who turned out the way he did BECAUSE he was basically being forced to neglect his own well-being to serve the higher ups and save those he hates. Doing so would only prove Geto right.

Punishment like this is pointless in my opinion. Rehabilitation through communication can help, reaching out can help. Shackling him will just make him hate everyone more and do we really want that? Do we want Geto, miserable and festering in resentment, forced to consume the worst of humanity, to save them? That's how we got to genocidal Geto in the first place.

What is the purpose of punishment? Vindication? Rehabilitation? Inflicting pain? The type of punishment that the villains suffer will have implications for what the moral of the story is.

Yuuji trying to kill Mahito means something, it means even more that he is portrayed as a wolf hunting a rabbit. A predator/prey relationship indicates necessity. Yuuji has no plans of punishing Mahito beyond death and he even tells him he'll keep killing him. Yuuji here represents faith in humanity, Mahito represents human hatred. Thus, Yuuji's mission to kill Mahito means essentially the triumph of human will and love over hatred. Each kill means something too.

In-story, Geto's actually respected by all of his living classmates, even NANAMI respects him (the man openly has no respect for Gojo). He represent rebellion against the system. Thematically, he opposes the destructive nature of sorcerer society. Trapping the character meant to represent the ways in which people are failed by sorcerers and suffer by curses is....not a good look.

So yeah, kills are more frequent than extended punishment. I mean it's hard to sympathize anyways if our MCs are going imprison people. Like isn't that kinda fucked up? Geto's a sympathetic character. What does it mean for Gojo if he traps his best friend to do the bidding of the people they both hate?

that's why we teach children about stranger danger, and when they get older we teach them about self defence. we teach kids to look both ways when crossing the street, and don't let them leave the house unsupervised until they're old enough to learn those lessons (around 5 years old at the earliest).

cats have roughly the intelligence of a two year old child. if you would let a two year old just walk out of your house and out to god knows where without any supervision, THAT'S what makes you a bad parent.

then there's the fact that cats are smaller than two year old children, and so are more vulnerable to wild animals like birds of prey, foxes, coyotes, snakes, etc.

first of all, if your house doesn't have fresh air or sunlight then you're probably living in a bomb shelter. almost every living space in the world has windows and ventilation, because guess what? humans like sunlight and fresh air too.

secondly, as I mentioned earlier, cats are small. they don't need as much space as people do, and are perfectly happy in the average home. if your house is so small a cat cannot live comfortably in it, it's probably not big enough for you either.

thirdly, if you believe that NO animal should be 'trapped' inside a house, then let's take this to it's logical end. surely you also disagree with keeping pet hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, parrots, budgies, rabbits, lizards, spiders, beetles, fish, and so many more animals that cannot be let outside, either for their own safety, or because it's logistically very difficult. do you disagree with keeping all of these animals as pets, or are you using a flimsy argument to feel better about yourself?

alright, so if, to use your 'children as cats' metaphor, a child doesn't want to eat anything but candy, their parents let them and they die of malnutrition at the age of five, you would see that as good parenting? after all, the child was happy when they ate candy, and you believe that if a child is happy it's okay if they die because of it.

what's that? you disagree? you think that's child abuse? congrats, you have more than a single grain of intelligence.

I'm really not trying to sound pretentious and holier-than-thou here, and I'm sorry if this severely upsets you, but the fact is that pretty much any vet you talk to will tell you that letting house cats outside not only halves their expected lifespan, but damages local ecosystems and can cause other pets to be injured or killed (eg, if a cat finds their way into a chicken coop).

if you want an animal you can take outside, get a dog or consider leash training a cat (which you can do by the way), and if you want a cat, for the love of god, keep it inside, don't declaw it, get a scratching post, get it neutered, and if you're ever unsure about something, google it, and only trust sources with some form of resume, like vets or people who have owned cats for decades.

in fact, don't trust me at all! you don't know who the hell I am! go online and find sources! do your own research! read scientific papers on the effects of letting cats outside, I'm sure they exist!

Joy and Tragedy! Joyah Tali's Hidden Face!

Joyah Tali surprised the world with her sudden return to the public eye exactly one month ago, standing on the stage of the Pallasite Museum of Heroics alongside Spectacle Mascot Rosette and her former partner Saturn V, but ever since her return, the city has been wondering what happened. The apparently cruel exterior caught by the cameras seemed nothing like the cool but considerate hero of five years ago. Matters worsened as hushed rumours began to spread that after the press conference, Tali was sighted around the city, hunting for the fugitive known as Livewire. She was declared rogue on Tuesday, 26 March 2019 and apprehended approximately one week later.

In the Marble Falls Spa in Morningside, I had the opportunity to talk to Ms. Tali, who was on rest and recovery after her ordeal. The woman I talked to, however, was not the cold blooded killer which has been infiltrating public perception. Rather, she was a sensitive, reserved individual still healing from great loss. Joyah Tali has had a hard life. After STAR’s meteoric rise to success and the swirling mixture of acclaim and controversy that came with their marketable brand and adoption of teen sidekick “Rabbit Boy”, Joy and Bruno “Tecton” Tali became very close indeed. After the unfortunate accident that lead to his death, Joyah found herself adrift, sinking below the public eye, working below the radar. Joy fought against the more insidious villainy that public heroes cannot engage. She became a recluse, solitary and quiet, never reaching out for what she believed to be practical reasons; Heroics is a career where people die, heroes and villains alike. Joy told me in no uncertain terms that she doesn’t want to get close to people with that being the case. She “can’t do it again.” [09:59] But of course, she already is close to people. Riley Abbott, the Leaping Lagomorph Hero, expressed how he misses Joy to me recently, and how he regretted how emotionally distant she had become. Gravitas, the Icon of the Forgotten, mentioned Joy as a friend. Even without trying, she has touched the lives of others. No one is an island, even if they’re the ocean.

All of this is not to say, of course, that her actions have been excusable. To take the life of another is never justified, but now that she is on probation with MARC, perhaps her peers will be able to once again show this hard-hearted aquatic hero the feeling of true compassion. Joy’s main motivation for heroics is to ensure that no one goes through what she had to, but perhaps now she can inspire hope in the hopeless, rather than fear in the fearsome.

I will strive to remember that being a hero is more than just fighting dangerous villains; it's being a role-model to those in need of one.
