Was tired of my long box being plain white, so I decided to do something about it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes some characters are on here more than once, turns out coming up with 60 characters I like is a lot, so I allowed for the same character with a different alias and didn't count the front and back.)
The lid is intentionally unfinished so I can add other characters I fall in love with in the future.
Also jokes on me because I spent so long working on this I collected almost enough comics to fill it and will have to get another box soon...

— BRUCE WAYNE ⋆
Tits. 100%. Classy.
You catch his eyes dipping to your chest mid-conversation. Doesn’t matter what you’re wearing—a tight dress, his button-down shirt, or even just a tank top and pajama pants—he’s looking. Bruce is an ass man in public, a thigh man in theory, but when it comes down to it? He worships your tits in private like they’re sculpted by gods.
He's the type to wrap a diamond necklace around your neck, only to trail it slowly down between your breasts, eyes hooded, voice gravelly:
“You have no idea how hard it is to focus when you look like this.”
Loves sucking on them when he’s stressed. Burying his face in your chest when he gets home late. One hand palming your breast while the other types on the Batcomputer like nothing's wrong. He’s obsessed in that quiet and unrelenting way. The way a storm looms on the horizon. Cold fingers sliding under your bra while you’re trying to talk about something innocent.
And when he’s really in the mood? He’ll sit you in his lap, kiss down your chest like it’s the last thing he’ll ever taste, and say with that low rasp:
“These are mine. You know that, right?”
— DICK GRAYSON ⋆
Ass. Without shame.
Dick is an ass man to his core. It’s not even a debate. He’s the type to openly admire it in the mirror while you’re getting dressed. The kind who walks by and gives you a casual, playful slap that’s way too possessive to be innocent.
His hands naturally find your hips, always pulling you closer until your butt’s flush against him. He’s the type to lay on the couch with you on top of him, hands running down your sides just to grip your ass like it's his anchor.
“God, babe… you’re killing me. You seriously expect me to behave when you’re walking around looking like that?”
When you bend over—even slightly—it’s over for him. He gets feral. He’ll pause mid-sentence just to gawk. Like a golden retriever seeing food.
Dick’s favorite position? Anything where he can grip, spread, and praise that ass like it’s the eighth wonder of the world. He’ll smack it, groan like a sinner in church, and whisper against your skin:
“You’ve got the best ass in Gotham, baby. Don’t even argue.”
— JASON TODD ⋆
Thighs. The Sinner’s Choice.
Jason is a thigh man and you know he is. It’s the way his gaze lingers when you’re sitting with your legs crossed. The way he kisses your inner thighs for way too long before doing anything else. The way he grips them like a man starved.
Big hands squeezing your thighs while you're straddling him? That’s his therapy. That’s his church.
He especially loves when you wear thigh-highs or those tiny shorts you think he didn’t notice. You’ll catch him staring, jaw clenched, knuckles white, and five minutes later he’s on his knees, spreading your legs, murmuring,
“You really gonna tease me like that, baby? After everything I’ve done for you?”
Jason doesn’t even try to hide it. He’ll rest his head on your lap and just inhale you like your thighs are made of heaven. Obsessed with hickeys on your inner thighs—territorial and tender at the same time. And when he's feeling really possessive?
“No one gets to touch these but me. Say it.”
— DAMIAN WAYNE ⋆
Tits & Thighs, but he lies and says it’s your mind.
Damian acts like he’s above it. That he’s too focused, too honorable, too disciplined to be distracted by something so carnal.
But the second you stretch, yawn, or lie on your stomach in one of his shirts? His eyes zero in like a falcon on prey.
He’ll never say it out loud, but he’s a tits and thigh man. Dual weakness. He worships your body with that intense, reverent devotion that makes your heart race. He doesn’t just look—he memorizes. The curve of your thighs when you're asleep, the weight of your chest in his hands, how your nipples react to his touch. He's studious and unrelenting.
When you ask him directly?
“What do you like most about me?”
He’ll narrow his eyes, smirk like the smug bitch he is, and reply,
“Your intelligence, obviously.”
All while his hand is halfway up your thigh and his other is resting on your chest.
He kisses your thighs like he's pledging allegiance, palms your breasts like he’s claiming a throne. In private he’s downright filthy. He’ll pull you into his lap, growl in your ear in Arabic, and say with absolute finality:
“You are mine. Every inch of you. And I will never tire of you.”
— TERRY MCGINNIS ⋆
Ass. But he tries to pretend he's not down bad.
Terry thinks he’s slick. Thinks he’s keeping it cool. The boy grew up in Neo-Gotham, wears a skintight Batsuit, flirts like he’s Bruce Wayne himself—but he’s not fooling anyone.
He’s an ass man through and through.
You’ll catch him staring when you walk away. You’ll feel his hand ghost over your lower back during hugs, just low enough to be suggestive. And when you call him out, he’ll smirk like he’s innocent.
“What? Just admiring my girl. Can’t a man appreciate fine art?”
Terry likes bending you over his bike, holding you tight against his chest with a hand planted firmly on your backside. Night flights? Always an excuse to touch. Back home? He’s got your ass in both hands, eyes glazed over like it’s the cure to every bad day.
But the filthiest part? He talks during. Low, breathy praise in your ear:
“All mine. You know that, right? Nobody else gets to see you like this. Nobody touches what belongs to me.”
— BARRY GORDON ⋆
Thighs. Gentleman. Pervert. Dangerous combo.
Barry looks like a soft, calm man. Wheelchair-bound, polite, smiling, with warm hands and careful eyes.
But beneath that? He’s got the mind of a freak and a thigh fixation that runs deep.
It’s all about control for Barry—the way your thighs twitch when he kisses the inside, the way you squirm when he goes slow. His hands are always on your legs. Stroking them, gripping them, resting possessively over your knees in public like a silent claim.
“You're always so tense, sweetheart. Let me take care of you.”
He has a special seat adjustment in his chair so you can straddle him when he pulls you into his lap. There’s something sinful about the way he kisses your thigh with adoration, then bites like he’s claiming you inch by inch.
And when you wear short skirts around him? You’re not leaving the house without a long, lingering stare and:
“Don’t test me. I may not walk—but I’ll drag you back to bed.”
— CASSIAN CAIN ⋆
Tits. Doesn’t understand why he’s obsessed. Just is.
Cassian doesn’t speak a lot. He expresses himself with action. Touch, breath, the sound of a soft grunt in your neck.
But the one thing that makes him visibly weak?
Your tits.
He gets flustered when you’re in anything low-cut. His eyes dip without meaning to, jaw tightening like he’s mad at himself for looking—but he can’t stop. He likes resting his head there. Likes the feel of you against him. The way you fit in his lap, soft and warm and everything he doesn’t think he deserves.
But don’t mistake his silence for innocence. Cassian touches you like he’s memorizing. Like your breasts are sacred, fragile, and sinful all at once.
kiss, kiss, press his cheek to them, breathe hard—groan like a sinner breaking.
He’ll get rough sometimes—biting, sucking, marking—but afterward, he looks at you like he’s ashamed of how much he needs you. Like he’s afraid he’ll ruin you just by loving you too hard.
You tell him you like it, and he just nods. No words. Just pulls you to him again and palms your tits with reverent, desperate hands.
— STEPHEN BROWN ⋆
Ass & Tits. Greedy.
Stephen is energetic in the sheets. The type to laugh mid-makeout, worship you like a goddess, and never stop touching you. But if he had to pick?
“Ass. No, wait—tits. Shit. Can I pick both? Please? Come on, don’t make me suffer.”
He’ll literally spin you around in his hands, grabbing your ass, motorboating your chest, moaning like you just gave him a million bucks. Every moment with him is hands-on, mouth-on, needy.
He’s the one smacking your butt in the kitchen, squeezing your tits while you brush your teeth, throwing himself into your lap like he deserves it all.
“You’re so hot, babe, I could write poetry about your curves. Limericks. Whole damn musicals.”
Stephen’s a playful lover, but when he gets serious? He gets serious. Pushes you against the wall, whispers in your ear with a trembling voice:
“No one’s ever gonna touch you like this. I’ll kill them. You get that, right?”
Then immediately follows it with, “Also, your tits are amazing. Just saying.”

Part 1
Gotham New Rogue 2
It's been a few weeks since Danny started to become the Trickster. To be honest, it is working very well. His core is expanding fast as ectoplasm is regenerating faster than ever before. He is also slowly developing new abilities and gaining more control and powers to his already established abilities.
For instance, Danny used to struggle making clones, but now he can easily create dozens of them with just a thought. He can also change his clothes to whatever he imagines using ectoplasm now. His ice power is also stronger and easier to control. His superhuman body is developing and slowly getting stronger and faster.
Overall, Danny will say that make a smart decision to become a rogue especially since no one has caught him yet. Danny is currently laying on top of a building watching the sun slowly set in the horizon. His stomach suddenly grumbles and he decides to hit the shack before he gets to "work" tonight.
Jumping off the roof, Danny lands and walks to the nearest Batburger while still wearing his rogue suit. He has a totally funny idea today and it involves him being seen in public. Entering the Batburger is like entering a library for some reason. As soon as he enters, everyone goes deathly quiet.
Danny slowly walks towards the cashier and orders his food.
Danny: 5 sets of set C please.
Cashier: Ermm, that will be 60 bucks.
Danny: Here.
After paying for the food, Danny gets his food and sits at one of the tables alone. It's only after he is through his 3rd set that reality is set in for the people. They begin to move and contrary to Danny's expectations, approach him to ask for pictures. Danny allows them some pictures and unknowingly raises his status as Gotham's friendliest rogue.
Suddenly, a white man that screams rich guy, a woman with blonde hair and a black guy wearing Signal's merch approach him. Danny has learned a lot of things from his 14 years of life and 2 years of half life and Danny knows when a rich guy approaches you, it's never good (Sam doesn't have the rich vibe).
Rich guy: Hello Trickster! May we have a meal with you?
Danny: Sure.
Rich guy: Ah, how rude of me. My name is Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne. These two are my friends, Stephanie Brown and Duke Thomas. You can call me Tim by the way.
Danny: Sure, Tim.
They sit opposite him with their meals and try to make small talks with him while eating. The trio realize that Danny seems to respond a lot better when Steph or Duke is the one to ask the question.
Steph: So, Trickster. Why don't you like my friend here?
Duke: Way to go in being subtle, Steph. Why not ask who is he really next?
Steph: Hey, I can't help it you know. He seems so snarky whenever Tim asks questions. I wanna know if Tim pissed him off or something.
Danny: He is rich, right?
Duke: Err, yes?
Steph: Let's say he is. Why does that matter?
Danny: I hate rich people. And government. But who doesn't hate the government?
Duke: So, eat the rich?
Danny: Yes.
Steph: Cool cool. We are also here just so we could leech him off anyway. We're not really friends.
Tim: Ow, you hurt me by saying that. What happened to our vow of eternal friendships?
Steph: I cross my fingers.
Duke: I lie.
Danny: Hahahaha. You're like my friends.
Tim: You have friends?
Danny: Of course I have friends. And unlike you I don't need money to have friends.
Tim: Sorry sorry. Are your friends also rouges?
Danny: Wouldn't you like to know? Last I need is Batman investigating my friends. I'm sure Batman is part of you rich people group chat or something.
Steph and Duke: *Snickers*
Tim: *Glares at the two* Why would you think Batman is in contact with the rich people?
Danny: Isn't it obvious? Batman has all these high tech gadgets and is always there fast whenever a Wayne is kidnapped. I would even say Batman is being sponsored by the Wayne.
Danny: I also don't like most heroes in general. They are just the government lapdog doing whatever the government wants.
Tim, Steph and Duke frowned at that statement. From the way Danny speaks, it is clear that he has some history against the government. Him being here also means he is at least confident enough to run away if any of the bats are here. Is it just blind confidence or a truly competent ability will remain to be seen.
Tim is just about to refute him when Danny suddenly stands up. All of them tensed up and ready for battle when Danny turns towards one side of the window, waves and disappears right in front of them. They are very confused and when they turn towards the direction Danny was just looking at, they see Batman and Black Bat right on the rooftop across the building.
Batman and Tim nod to each other and they all return to the caves.
-Batcave-
Tim: So you all hear the conversation right?
Dick: Except at the end where the sound becomes blurred for a moment, we hear everything.
Tim: Good. So what are your thoughts on this?
Damian: It is pretty self explanatory Drake. He has a personal hatred towards the government and that extends to all bodies of government or people he thought is connected to the government.
Tim: But why though? Is the hatred towards the government something as simple because he is a criminal? Or is there something else towards it?
Bruce: There is nothing to find about him currently with our limited resources about him. Return to the manor for today and take some rest. We will investigate it later.
All of them return to the manor and rest for the night.
-2 weeks later-
The Trickster is standing in front of an unconscious and tied up Batman. He is giggling loudly that evolves into full blown laughter.
He takes off Batman's belt and starts to pull out stuff one after another. Soon, he found the item that he needed.
Trickster: Hahahahahahaha. I have finally got it. The strongest weapon in the world!
The batfam that is watching the live broadcast shiver as they watch Trickster holds out the black object high in the sky.

Okay!
After nearly a full decade of our time of Stephanie Brown being told to go home and give up being Spoiler, Batman takes her on as a student and sanctions her, with no preamble or warning.
That’s weird, let’s talk about it.
Batmans strange choices in how he treats Stephanie Brown can only be understood by analyzing his character.
Let's place Batman in context of what is going on directly before his decision to bring in Stephanie Brown as part of the team. The last major event preceding Stephanie Brown being sanctioned is Officer Down, which by the time it concludes Batman has lost two of his oldest allies: Jim Gordon has retired and Alfred has resigned.
In the wake of Officer Down, I’d like to track two key conflicting characteristics of Batman, how they are exacerbated, and how they influence how Stephanie is treated.
1. A Longing for Companionship
Batman's desire for the company of others is increased post-Officer Down, as he deals with suddenly being isolated from most of his core group.
Other characters point this out:
Tumblr media
Batman #590 (1940)
Additionally, for the first time in a long while, Bruce Wayne is entirely alone in the manor.
Tumblr media
Gotham Knights #20 (2000)
So, why doesn’t Batman just do the normal, healthy thing and reach out to the loved ones he still has? I personally believe it’s because of how embarrassed he is after getting epically owned by Alfred, but the more general answer is: he’s the Batman.
Out of paranoia his feelings will be used against him, or out of fears those close to him will be harmed if he directly expresses affection for them, or out of just being too damn cool for “emotions”, any way you slice it, Batman is:
2. Deeply uncomfortable with appearing emotionally vulnerable
We can see this with one of Bruce’s primary response to immediate grief: denial and silence
A simple example of this is how he acts after Jason Todd is killed. Bruce completely refuses to acknowledge his existence, and remains utterly silent when confronted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #437 / #440 (1940)
Another easy example of this is how he inexplicably approaches Nightwing dressed as Matches Malone in order to express that he isn’t trying to step on his toes:
Tumblr media
Nightwing #14 (1996)
While it varies over time how emotionally closed off Bruce is, I believe one of the biggest triggers for an increase in this emotional cut off is when he is made to feel helpless.
During Cataclysm, he is helpless to stop the earthquake or meaningfully protect Gotham, there’s no enemy to fight, it’s just pure random crappy luck. He responds to this feeling of circumstances being out of his immediate control by cutting off almost all of his allies and sending them out of Gotham.
After he learns about how Zatanna and some other JLers wiped his memory and betrayed his trust, his reaction is to create an artificial intelligence to spy on the Justice League.
When Batman is put in situations which makes him feel physically or emotionally vulnerable, when he’s subject to circumstances out of his control, Batmans response has been historically to double down and isolate himself and cover up any potential weaknesses by convincing himself he’s better off alone and paranoid.
Eventually, after some time of this, he has a big moment where he decides to let people in, but his knee jerk reaction is always to pull away first.
This aversion to vulnerability is in play during and post-Officer Down, where Bruce is confronted by Jim’s mortality and retirement as well as Alfred’s resignation, all “enemies” he can’t just punch away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightwing #53 (1996) / Gotham Knights #13 (2000)
In the wake of Officer Down, these conflicting traits are prominently portrayed.
In particular, Gotham Knights #18 demonstrates how these ideas clash.
Batmans loneliness is explored heavily: he starts the comic off talking to a bat, repeatably calls Oracle who is trying to sleep, and wanders through the completely empty manor.
His loneliness is conveyed through how he is framed: a shadow in a batsuit, wandering though desaturated and darkened hallways and rooms, completely silently, like a ghost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the silence ends. Bruce calls Aquaman, asking for help excavating his giant penny. They have an awkward conversation, until Aquaman eventually calls him on his BS, pretty much directly stating that the penny was a total excuse, and that Bruce just wanted company, that he only called because he was lonely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotham Knights #18 (2000)
When confronted with his loneliness, we see his desire for companionship come into play. He tries to talk to the bat, to Oracle, and then Arthur.
We also see it mitigated by the second impulse, his aversion to vulnerability. He can't tell Oracle that he just wants to talk, he has to frame the interaction through a case that he himself admits he no longer needs her help with.
Likewise, he can't just tell Aquaman that he wants to hang out, he has to make up a lie about needing help moving his giant penny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His desire for companionship drives him to reach out, while his aversion to emotional vulnerability forces him to obscure this desire for human connection.
So, thats fine and all, but what does any of this have to do with Stephanie Brown?
As I mentioned earlier, Officer Down is the event that occurs just before Batman brings Steph onto the team. I argue that this dynamic of yearning for companionship vs. resistance to emotional vulnerability influences heavily his decision to "sanction" her as Spoiler.
Stephanie as a balm for Batmans loneliness.
This is immediately clear if you compare how much he's talking in Gotham Knights #18 to how he chatters away at Stephanie. He directly references Tim and Alfred's absence. But unlike Gotham Knights #18 the absence is not a bad thing per se, its framed against Stephanie's presence, how he allows her to stay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Green Arrow #5 (2001)
Stephanie's role in assuaging his loneliness is evident in other places as well, for instance, in the Gotham Knights Last Laugh tie in. Stephanie realizes she forgot to turn her comm of, and had been "blabbing in [his] ear all night", Batman reassures her that he isn't upset. Just the opposite in fact, he tells her to not turn it off, saying he "doesn't mind the company" and placing a hand awkwardly on her shoulder. He clearly appreciated the relief from his loneliness her "blabbing" had provided.
Tumblr media
Gotham Knights #22 (2000)
So Batman's embarrassing loneliness might have had some role to play in him taking her on as a student and "sanctioning" her. But what about that second impulse? How does it come into play?
2. How Stephanie as an outsider allows for emotional vulnerability
Originally, Batman takes Stephanie on because he needed her to help him find Tim at Brentwood, as he is unable to go himself. The reasons he "can't" go himself only become clear when Tim confronts Bruce, calling him out for being afraid of running into Alfred.
Tumblr media
Robin #87 (1993)
This scene illustrates how Stephanie satisfies the second impulse, her outsider status. Stephanie is different from the rest of the team.
Tim has access to the context and information which allows him to expose Batman's emotionally vulnerability. Tim can call out Batman out for his pettiness and cowardice in how he hides from Alfred.
But Stephanie? Stephanie doesn't know who Alfred is, or how embarrassing it is for Batman to be avoiding him after Alfred yelled at him and called him a baby. She doesn't have the context that Tim and the rest of the team have.
So what does this mean? It means that Batman can tell her shit that is not true, like that he calls his car "The Car" instead of the Batmobile. And, more importantly, it means that he can express emotional vulnerability without any of the potential consequence. She has no context, and she has no one to tell.
Alfred is beefing with her over Bruce's choice to tell her Tim's identity, so that potential friendship is over before it could begin. And she gets (seemingly) brushed off by Batgirl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin #88 (1993)
She doesn't even have Tim, who Stephanies believes is mad at her.
Tumblr media
Robin #94 (1993)
I cannot emphasize this enough: she has nobody to tell. And Batman absolutely knows this.
He is emotionally vulnerable with her, expressing concern for the future and uncertainty:
Tumblr media
Robin #92 (1993)
This moment is weird. It stands out. Stephanie seems aware of the strangeness of this moment, she reflects on it internally.
This moment parallels something in another comic. His fears and uncertainties about bringing other people into his "war"? We see a similar dialogue in the beginning of Gotham Knights.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gotham Knights #1 (2000)
These are his uncertainties and fears that he can normally only express through creating a case file where he writes in the third person, assessing himself as Batman as if he is a completely different person. But theres no subterfuge here. He just straight up tells Stephanie Brown, utterly unprompted.
And this isn't the last time it's mentioned. At least half a year later, at the very start of War Games, the strange and scary vulnerability of this moment is still etched in Stephanies mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman: The 12 Cent Adventure (2004)
And while Batman gets to dump his insecurities on Stephanie, it's not exactly reciprocal. Stephanie expresses fear that Batman will drop her if she goes to him for help after her dad threatens to kill her. She has no feeling of security in her place on the team if she's afraid of this.
Tumblr media
Robin #94 (1993)
And she's not even wrong about Batman's willingness to fire her at the drop of a hat, it just occurs later.
And when it occurs is important. The events of Bruce Wayne: Murderer lead to Alfred coming back into the manor and Bruce's employ. It ends with a big reconcilltion between the primary team, where Bruce explains he's been off since Officer Down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #605 (1940)
Alfred is back, no questions asked. The "real" team gets an apology and an explanation. And in other words, Batman is no longer as alone as he was before.
Everyone was locked out of the cave during Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive, but Stephanie is the only one who is not let back in once it concludes. She doesn't get an explanation, and Batman did not seem to have a plan to tell her she's been fired. She had to track him down and confront him to find out he'd given up on her.
Tumblr media
Gotham Knights #37 (2000)
We can see how his isolation contributes to how she is treated by who is told when she is fired/sanctioned. When he brings her on the team, no one knows ahead of time. We don't see him tell anyone at all. In contrast, once his primary support system is firmly reestablished post Bruce Wayne: Murderer, Bruce separately informs Tim, Cassandra, and Alfred that Stephanie was fired. He's able to do this because his web has been repaired.
Stephanie Brown essentially fulfills the same role as the bat that Bruce talks to in Gotham Knights #18.
A new presence, unencumbered with the point of view the rest of the team has, unknowing of Bruce's history of fucking up. A sounding board, a stand in for Bruce's normal company.
Stephanie's presence perfectly satiates the contrasting impulses Batman deals with when it comes to how he interacts with other characters. Through her, Bruce can have companionship without being afraid of the danger of emotional vulnerability. She doesn't have the context, she doesn't know Bruce Wayne. She only knows Batman, and she seems pretty starstruck about finally being let on his team.

batfam as types of isekai romance male leads
in this post: bruce wayne, dick grayson, jason todd, tim drake, cassandra cain, stephanie brown, and damian wayne
bruce wayne as rudiger winterwald (i will change the genre)
bruce is definitely the cold and "i make misunderstandings for a job" type of male lead. he's the one people in the comments bash or defend for their life. bruce in his past life is the one that the female lead thinks hates them so they die thinking that he won't care but plot twist: he does care... a lot. he's the one to destroy the entire world after their death (regis floyen core) and he's the one who turned back time for her.
dick grayson as isidor visconti (isn't being a wicked woman much better?)
dick grayson is the childhood lover, the one you don't think would be interested in you because of his bright personality. you think he's doing all these things out of pure kindness until after 100+ chapters he likes you. dick grayson is the one to stick by your side and in both lives, was devoted to you.
jason todd as izek van omerta (how to get my husband on my side)
jason todd is the one who unintentionally is cold to you (another idea is he's your killer in your first life) and probably causes your death... unintentionally... maybe. he's the slow burn type of romance where you fix past misunderstandings that have been building up for the past years you've known each other/been together. after a lot of years you've spent together, he's the greenest green flag you've ever met.
tim drake as schdermel raft (my dear aster)
tim drake is the male lead who takes a while to own the reader's hearts lowkey. timmy is a duke that rose to power in the female lead's previous life and is the one that could help her/protect her from her family/problems. timmy is such a sweetheart and i think it'll take a while before romance starts to come in the story (and has reader's asking novel readers who's the male lead).
cassandra cain as dorothea millanair (the tyrant wants to be good)
cassandra cain is the ultimate "i didn't want to be this, my surroundings made me be this." cassandra had a hard childhood because of her father and her "home" similar to many manhwa female leads. cassandra is the type to regret her past life and change for the better. she's not a brainless female lead, she knows a lot of things and will want to change (similar to dorothea).
stephanie brown as athanasia de alger obelia (wmmap)
stephanie is a female lead who is kinda stupid ("why did the plot change" type things) but overall is a strong female lead. she's one to go down in history (like athy). she's one who doesn't need a male lead to back her up and overall chases the plot to chang people's lives. steph is a happy girl and deserves a happy ending.
damian wayne as maximilian kasin ashet (father i dont want to get married)
damian is the one who (unintentionally/intentionally) killed you in your past life. damain grew up as a stuck up brat kid, though he is less of a brat, he's a trained killer for gods sake. damian is one who isn't familiar with love and being gentle. he probably grew up on the battlefield and is labelled "mad dog" or "cold blooded killer" or something along those lines. once you show damian you're not like the other girls afraid of him, he starts to fall... hard.
bonus: alfred pennyworth
the reliable butler of the family who's been serving the family for ages. he's the first one who trusts you and gets to know you on a personal level. he's always there to talk to the waynes and convince them you're a good person.
idk what to do next so lmk lol

Art-Deco Batman AU, also Nightwing!Steph. Brainstorming ideas and potentially seeking feedback.
So, we’ve been thinking about @dresdencodak’s art deco batman idea, and I decided to use it as a springboard to workshop an entire little universe. Stephanie Brown as Nightwing will basically be my main character for this.
One of the key pieces of this universe is that we’re going to in essence invert the emotional closeness of batman’s supporting cast. It’s already been done a bit with Steph becoming nightwing. Personally, I find batman to be the least interesting member of the batfamily, but he’s the linchpin holding them together, so lets think of him a bit like sun wukong in journey to the west. Not the main character, but the one that we start with and follow despite the story centering on those around him.
First of all though, we need to detail the setting itself.
Gotham.
We’re using an art deco theme, and one of the first pieces for overall architecture that you see at a glance is verticality. Big soaring towers with graceful details. And gotham’s also supposed to have a seedy underbelly, lots of corruption, and be located on the coast. It’s often compared to Metropolis, but at the same time is very different.
So here’s my idea: Gotham in this AU isn’t supposed to be Jersey or NYC. It’s on a coast, but that coast is cliffs and crags with a harbor in the center. The core of gotham sits atop the cliffs like a shining city on the hill, but that veneer hides a festering wound and rot. The bay is choked with trash, the buildings climbing the sides bay and the lower streets often sit in darkness. It’s a stark contrast to metropolis, a seemingly ordinary city that has extraordinary inhabitants in Superman - a being from the stars - and the luthor family who’re shaping the technology of the future. Gotham has several gangs, and the biggest one is definitely its police force, with the highest rate of corruption known.
Next, the Origin Story
I know, we’re springboarding from Dresdencodak’s work and she said “Don't retell Batman's origin - Everyone knows Batman's origin, and spending another entire film on it is lazy” but let’s change his origin and then explore it with flashbacks. There’s three key pieces of his origin that would precede the debut of the batman as gotham’s main vigilante: the alley, the inspiration, and the training. So let’s change all of them.
The alley has remained largely the same for decades: a random mugging that resulted in the deaths of thomas and martha wayne. Wayne enterprises got introduced later, and they often aren’t connected to it. So let’s explore how wayne enterprises might have made weapons, thomas or martha shut that down, and corruption leads to them being assassinated for it. Bruce was too young to understand, and he thinks it was a random mugging but eventually finds out the truth, only almost too late.
Next, the inspiration, and for this i’m going to tie in jim gordon and alfred pennyworth. Again, we’re inverting emotional distance. Bruce following his parents death becomes obsessed with vigilantism, the idea of stopping criminals with brutal vengeance, lashing out at the world for his pain. Alfred sees the orphan boy starting to scheme about using wayne enterprises for his plans, realizes that he’ll likely inadvertently grant the desire of the people behind the killing of thomas and martha, and places bruce under the guardianship of the one incorruptible cop in gotham, with a mission to instill an idea of due process and necessary force. Hoping to avert the course of fate. It doesn’t work, but batman is very closely tied to the police force and can be used to explore police corruption and justice. Also, the reveal of this would be very amusing with Jim and bruce arguing on the rooftop like usual and then suddenly bruce sarcastically calls commissioner gordon “dad”. It’s also in this time that Bruce sees how much death the cops are causing, and manages to strongarm alfred into making wayne enterprises begin designing nonlethal capture equipment with the hopes of the GCPD implementing it (and of course he pilfers some of the better prototypes when he debuts as batman)
Third, there is the training, and here’s where we’ll be throwing continuity into a blender. Batman is often thought of as the “original vigilante” of the DC universe, and most of the vigilantes are based partly on him. He also traveled the world to acquire his skills as the batman. So let’s change that by not only making him the second hero of gotham, and have the first be his mentor. And in a flash of inspiration, I decided that the first hero of gotham should be jason todd. He’d be a hero with a flight suit a bit similar to Stephanie’s suit but with larger wings, and the public would give him the name of Robin. He’d try to train the then-nameless vigilante, but one day on patrol they bump into the joker (who at the time would have been red hood), who’s somewhat of an anti-villain being a gang leader with very strict moral codes. Things go south, and Robin ends up dead due to a mistake on Bruce’s part. Red Hood is the one who put a bullet in Gotham’s hero and golden child, and he has a mental break and becomes the joker.
And with that done, Onwards to the Batfamily!
First, Dick Grayson. In this world we’ve got Stephanie as Nightwing and Jason as the original Robin, so Dick has to be something else. My idea was rather simple: Dick’s family dies when Haly’s circus isn’t in gotham. Instead of being taken in by batman, he learns from the likes of Superman and John Stewart (green lantern). Accountability is important to him, and he travels the country as a superhero with a public identity, showing off for the crowd even as he saves lives. This makes him a daytime hero, and takes from kryptonian myths for the moniker of Flamebird (Nightwing’s counterpart on kryptonian myth). Eventually he arrives in gotham, and learns about the vigilante batman and the dead hero Robin, and decides that he’s finally found a city that needs him.
We’ve already addressed Jason Todd, being batman’s mentor who died in an accident, but we need to explore how he comes back as the new red hood, and for that we need to talk about Ra’s Al Ghul. Ra’s in this universe would be a sort of vampire, the lazarus pit made him unaging with a powerful healing factor, but his body can’t produce its own blood and he requires daily blood transfusions to stay alive. He uses his healing factor to test diseases and cures on himself, and runs a pharmacutical empire that has never raised prices with inflation. He’s an affable old man with a distaste for monotony, as he requires new intrigue to stay sane. So when batman comes to him with the body of Robin begging him to find a way to bring him back, Ra’s shrugs as says yes (also his daughter is interested in the new vigilante, and he likes to meddle so maybe this’ll give him an opportunity to set the two up on a date). When blood enters Ra’s body, it’s changed in some unknown way, which when transfused into a body can revive them, but at a heavy cost: the light of day is forever denied to them. Jason is horrified by batman’s actions, and with his brain still addled by the revival process, decides to do something drastic: take over the mantle of the Red Hood. Hood’s gang was the least harmful in gotham, and helped keep other supervillains away from some the residential districts, so he quickly assumes control of the gang to keep them in line. Also, he’s given up on further improving batman, and if Bruce goes off the deep end, Jason would need numbers to put him down.
Next up, Oracle. Barbra Gordon will never become batgirl in this universe. Instead, she’s raised alongside Bruce and views him as an older brother. She’s very aware of the GCPD’s corruption, and when she discovers that Bruce is Batman she gets inspired by the We Are Robin movement (which in this universe I’m making would be a network of youths, former member of the Red Hood gang, and shop owners who share information and mobilize responses to incidents that the cops ignore), and assists as the one in the chair, gathering intel and providing overwatch for Batman. She also maintains partnerships with the more altruistic rogues in the city, including Selina Kyle, who operates a shelter for young women who’ve been forced into crime for various reasons. Instead of barbara becoming disabled due to the joker, I’d write her as already having some disability, and then pushing her body to the point that it gave out in addition to suffering injuries on the few desperate occasions where she’s been forced to get physically involved to help batman. One of the interesting things from the DCU’s batman was that it showed how “the life” will absolutely ruin one’s body and put them into an early retirement, and Barbara Gordon would end up pushing herself to far and causing that to happen. So she isn’t paralyzed, but requires a variety of mobility aids.
And on the topic of We Are Robin, we should address Duke Thomas, aka Signal. He’d have witnessed the death of Robin and started the movement, fuelled in part by a distrust of the Batman whose actions he deduced alongside private investigator Tim Drake. When flamebird rolls in and Duke awakens his powers, he joins Grayson as the Signal, keeping his identity secret because unlike the orphaned acrobat, he has people to take care of in his civilian identity (namely his parents, who were both crippled during Joker’s first big attack). He loathes batman and the GCPD, operating for transparency and accountability. He’s more of a super-powered fireman than a superhero, being one of the first on-scene after disasters and using his abilities to find civilians and get them to safety.
Next, we’ve got Stephanie Brown, Nightwing. My thoughts for her tools and the fact that in DC lore her name comes from kryptonian mythos would be that cluemaster obtained a kryptonian power source and was planning something big, but Stephanie found out and spoiled the plot by yoinking the power source and skedaddling to Batman for safe haven. He took the teenager to Wayne Enterprises to hole up while he deals with cluemaster, and that’s where Stephanie meets engineering prodigy Harper Row. Harper isn’t a hero, but she does help with the designs for the capture equipment that batman uses. Her personal work though is stymied because of heavy power draws that keep them from being mobile, but Stephanie has the perfect fix for that and the two hit it off. Stephanie debuts a week later as Spoiler, with a big old taser rifle that modulates its rounds to incapacitate without causing lasting damage. As she gets better, she moves more into close range and adopts the name Nightwing. If anyone in this is the main character, it’d be her. Also, one-sided nemesis towards Red Hood, who she hates for his increasingly violent behavior and she can’t understand why batman won’t go after him.
Alongside Stephanie as Batman’s other sidekick, we have the second Robin, Tim Drake. Formerly a private investigator who got rather mad at batman for his seemingly blind and hasty vengeance, he got persuaded to team up and help make it more clear as to the exact nature of their actions. He eventually adopts the title of Robin, and is kind of the everyman of the group, with none of the mobility devices that the others have (grapnels and a jetpack for Steph), and is frequently left behind grumbling and running for the nearest staircase. Additionally, his M.O. hasn’t changed much since his days as a private investigator, nor has his uniform and as such his identity is paper thin. The civilians love him though, so they keep it secret from any cops who come looking.
Cassandra Cain would take on the title of Catwoman in this setting, in the continuation of swapping around roles. For her backstory, I was inspired by the Young Justice cartoon and the new52 origins. Raised by the head of the league of Assassins Lady Shiva, Cassandra’s larynx was surgically removed at a young age so that she couldn’t learn to speak, and then she was trained to kill. Her first target was a whistleblower at wayne enterprises who helped get the weapons manufacturing shut down, one Miranda Row. After that and the realization that she couldn’t bear to kill again, Cass faked her death and went to ground in the lower levels of gotham. Eventually, Selina Kyle found her and took her in as one of the Cats. In hopes to atone for her crime, Cass tries to act as a guardian angel for Harper and her younger brother. When Harper meets Steph, Cassandra’s conclusion is that the vigilante can aid her in keeping Harper safe, but could also bring danger towards Harper. The two have a rivalry for Harper’s friendship, while also being drawn to each other, because I'm a stephcass shipper (with a side of stephcassharper, because every possible pairing between those three is hilarious). She tries to keep her past actions a secret from Harper, and is adorably unaware that Herper figured it out ages ago and mostly feels pity for what Cassandra was forced into.
And finally, Kate Kane, Batwoman. I’m keeping the military brat background for her, but her parents’ big specialty would be patching people up after battles both physically and mentally. So she’s raised largely abroad and when she eventually returns home to gotham after wiping out of the academy due to moral objections and dont-ask-dont-tell, she finds the place a disaster. Her baby cousin is an orphan and a vigilante, the city’s golden boy hero died then came back as a crime lord, there’s teenage heroes running around everywhere, supervillains causing chaos, and >90% of the police force is corrupt. But you know the saying “when in Rome…” so she adopts the moniker of batwoman and assists in keeping things as peaceful as she can. This includes teaming up with Ra’s to run a clinic for superhumans, with the hope of preventing deaths. She’s seen enough of fighting, and while she will protect people if need be her main focus is rehabilitation. Also she’s the gay godmother to disaster bi Stephanie, because everyone needs a queer elder.
Now I just need to figure out a story and then write the damn thing.
Also I'll probably do the rogues gallery later on. Thinking of an atlantean theme for Poison Ivy (since it's around a bay and the water is filthy), plus dryad elements, and joker being a bit more acrobatics and gadgets themed like the Jester from the 2010 Crisis on Two Earths film... Anyway, thoughts and feedback are valued!

Birds of Prey #12 brings the Cass action to the forefront!
It also gets me something I always wanted to see: Sophie Campbell drawing Cass. But it comes-- with a TWIST!!
We're nearing the end point of this arc, and we get the craziest issue yet of the world hoping. This time the Birds getting "toonnified".
And that is "the twist"
Since I first saw her work on IDW TMNT. I always wanted to see Sophie Campbell draw Cass. Well wish granted this issue. But it's an utterly adorable Cass.
Though, what shall we call this Cass version? Toon Cass? Cass Toon? No wait that one is taken. 🤪
Tumblr media
Anyhoot, this toon world feels honestly the most fleshed out of them all. Like it felt there was this underlying unease with each world the Birds visited.
Here this is the first one that feels like a world onto itself. I wonder where this will go with the "final world" teased at the end.
Even though, last issue Cass was put on the back burner, this issue she gets A LOT of focus. So much so I believe this issue she has more dialogue than the prior ELEVEN issues!
Even with all this Cass, all the Birds get a moment this issue. Barda and Vixen get absolute banger moments this issue and their toon designs are just perfection. Likewise so does Sin, and even Babs. Everyone gets something this issue.
And it all starts with Cela walking out, and Cass following. Now I now there was A LOT of shippers jumping onto the two this issue.
So let's dissect the real bonding, and maybe-- it can go to be more?
Writer Kelly Thompson has touched on many dimensions to Cass in the series thus far. Here she digs into the core of Cass: compassion.
Tumblr media
A few issues ago, we learned Cela's origins, and last issue put it on the back burner, but this issue we get the forefront as she knows the Birds reunited that time is almost up with her newfound companions and the hope of being free from this prison.
I think Cass can really relate to Cela. That she's stuck in this world, and really is trying to be good despite the world wanting otherwise. Not to mention losing A LOT of sisters?
It sounds FAMILAIR doesn't it?
think Cass relates a lot to Cela and is trying to break that ice with her being there for her. She can see how her body is screaming for someone to vent with.
And well... we get the scene between the two.
Now as to WHY people are jumping on this ship bandwagon so much? Well, when was the last time Cass had an honest to god love interest in the main DCU?
You could say Stephanie Brown (Batgirls 2021-2023). Or... Harper Row (2016).
But if we're going to her honest-to-goodness CONFIRMED she's interested in?
Tumblr media
It was Sal from Batgirl Vol. 2 (2009).
It's been THAT long since Cassandra Cain had a CONFIRMED love interest.
Tumblr media
I think fan interest in wanting Cass to get SOME loving is WHY we're at this point. The girl deserves it. Though personally I see ANOTHER option (if not Harper), who just happens to show up this issue too.
So I get WHY many shipping vibes are there for Cass/Cela.
Tumblr media
But the rest of the issue is Cass coming up with a plan to FINALLY be free while also dealing with Maia problem too.
And here we get our SECOND bit of Cass in the issue.
Tumblr media
This and a few other reaction images are so getting memed by us Cass fans. I know it.
But yeah it's a nice "character progression" from someone who told a "bad story" in #1 to now coming up with a good plan in #12.
And the plan even involves a homage to what Sophie Campbell is most famous for. 😁😁😁
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You thought I wouldn't notice the streams crossed did ya? BUT I DID!
Birds of Prey #12 is an emotional ride but with a toony twist. It has such a glorious cute edge this issue. And this world with the Birds REALLY clicked. I've gone back to reading this issue more over than the prior bits of this arc.
I feel there's nothing more to say than I'm REALLY curious where this all goes next issue and how this will tie into the Spirit World?
I guess we'll see. Other than, I'm curious what your thoughts are on Cass/Cela?
And are you surprised it's been THAT LONG Cass had a love interest?
*this is me now waiting for comments*

After two years Danny and Ella Fenton finally felt like they're getting this whole superhero thing under control. So of course something had to come along and ruin everything.
Ok, so this is a rewrite of savya398’s 'Phantom and the Knight', now renamed 'Phantoms and the Knight'. Before you ask, no this is not a gender-bend story and will recommend that you read 'Phantom and the Knight' first but that’s just me. I have a little obsession with making Danny a twin (a born twin not a made twin). In this story, we find out that the Fentons are not Ella and Danny’s real parents.
I am only going up to where she (or he) left it off, I will not make an alternative ending. If you are the author and are reading this, I hope I'm not being disrespectful for not contacting you first, but I really love your story. So I wanted to do this.

At the end of the world / Or the last thing I see / You are never coming home, never coming home
Prompt from @tuna-f-b: Do you still do request? If yes and angst is o.k: what would happend i all the bats died? Like how would the hero community react. The supers alone. Clark having to deal with losing his best friend(?) and the kids he basically co parented- as well as seeing his sons lose their best friends(?) Specially as ships that would be awesome angst
A/N: I'm not crying you're crying (Also, for those who don't know, Izzy is Duke's canon gf and one of the Robins from We Are Robin)
Words: 2504
TW: Mentions of blood, Major character death, Coping with loss, Self-blame, Mentions of relapse (drugs)
“If you’re watching this, I am either deceased or indefinitely unable to continue my duties as Batman. But the world still needs Batman. Gotham still needs Batman. My son Damian Wayne, if he is an adult, shall inherit my mantle— if not, Dick Grayson will take over until he is. In the event that he, too, is unavailable for any reason, the mantle goes to Tim Drake, after him, to Cassandra Cain, then Duke Thomas, then Stephanie Brown, then Jason Todd, should he accept it.”
In the video recording, Batman pauses, taking a deep breath.
“In the unfortunate event that the entire family is… deceased… I have a list of contingency plans on both the Bat-Computer and the Justice League’s primary databases. Oracle will help you access it, but in her… absence… the password is “a6ghr83kc02m”.”
Then video-Bruce takes off the cowl, his pale blue eyes looking straight into the camera.
“I know I was never the best with feelings. But I would like my children, my allies, and friends to know that I’m proud of you. And to my fellow Justice Leaguers… Diana and Clark, I am truly grateful for your companionship. I would never have made it this far without you. Barry, Arthur, Dinah, J’onn, you’ve all been good friends. Oliver, Hal… you’re not so bad either.”
Bruce turns around, and looks over his shoulder, the shadows of the Batcave making the scene even more dramatic.
“I wish you good luck.”
Then the clip ends.
A shuddering breath leaves Clark.
It’s real.
He’s really… They’re all…
He can’t do this anymore. He turns around and walks out the door, leaving the other core Justice Leaguers staring sombrely at the now-blank screen.
He doesn’t know when he started flying, when he started trying to escape. The walls of the Watchtower seem to be suffocating him, but he has enough sense not to just leave the airlock yet.
Instead he finds a corner by a window, far, far away from the others, where he can see a majestic view of Earth, the moon, and the Sun in perfect sync with each other.
He falls to his knees.
His breathing’s uneven, a tear rolls down his cheeks.
Then he feels a hand on his shoulder— soft, trembling, yet steady.
“Kal,” Diana whispers, sitting on the floor next to him. She doesn’t continue— she isn’t sure what to say.
“They’re all going to die, you know? We’re going to bury all of them. Everyone on Earth, everyone we know.” Clark’s voice trembles, in a way Superman’s never does. “It scares me so much.”
“Kal,” Diana says again, pulling Clark into a hug. “It’s okay. We’ve lost… We’ve lost so many of our friends. It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to grieve.”
“How are you— how are you so—” Clark can’t form his words properly. He turns to Diana, to see her face tight with grief, eyes misty with unshed tears.
Her voice breaks slightly as she speaks. “I don’t want to believe they’re gone. But… we have to carry on. We’re the Justice League. Our people need us, Kal.”
“So we just go on and on? Forever?” Another tear runs down his cheek. “Ollie, Hal, Dinah, Lois, Jon, they’re all going to… they’re all going to die one day and we just have to… to go on?”
“I’m sorry, but it is the truth,” Diana whispers, her eyes stinging with hot tears. “We must find peace in the fact, right now, that Batman— Bruce, the Robins, they— they were so brave. Brave till the end. And they fell as warriors, defending our world. I’m sure they’ll all reach Elysium.”
“And Dickie, Damian, Jason, Tim, Cass, Duke—” Clark’s voice is hoarse. “They were so young, just kids… I… I know Dick, Jay, Tim, Cass… they were adults, but… they’re gone, they’re gone…”
“They were heroes, like you and me. Don’t forget that.”
“I… I know, I just—” Another shuddering breath escapes Clark. “I just— I…”
“It’s okay,” Her voice is forcefully steady, but with an undertone of heartbreak. “It’s okay…”
Dinah looks around the room, her heart heavy.
Clark has left, Diana’s gone after him— both of them need their space, she knows. They were close to Bruce and the other Bats in a way no one else in this room was.
Was.
The word still weighs down on her.
Hal speaks up finally, breaking the deafening silence. “I always thought he hated me.”
No one replies for a long moment.
“I miss the kids,” Barry says finally, his voice quiet. “They were just… Robin was only 14. The others, even Nightwing, they had… they had their whole lives ahead of them.”
More silence.
“Jason, when he was Robin— do y'all remember? Kid was always my favorite,” Ollie says finally. “Was always so sassy. Roy loves him.”
Loves. Dinah winces, but doesn’t correct him. It’s easier to believe they’re just gone for a little while.
“Bruce was a good man,” Arthur adds. “They all were.”
“Tim was, I believe, the smartest,” J’onn says, somber. “It was his plan that allowed us to save Earth.”
“Damian!” Dinah says suddenly, jumping from her seat. “His… his mother. She shouldn’t have to find out from someone else.”
Everyone freezes, faces tight.
Dinah sighs, looking down. “I’ll do it.”
Then she leaves the room, dragging what feels like a heavy weight tied to her soul. She has to do this.
Roy’s sitting in a corner of his apartment, hugging his knees. All he can think of is Jason.
He’s never coming back.
He can still feel the lingering ‘goodbye’ kiss Jason gave him not two days ago, he can still hear him say, “I’ll be back before you know it, babe.”
He never came back.
He’s dead. Dead— dead dead dead DEAD DEAD—
“Small Red not okay?” A booming voice snaps Roy out of his thoughts. He looks up to see Bizarro’s pale blue skin and cold eyes looming over him. He’s crying. “Red him coming back.”
It takes Roy a second to register that Bizarro speaks backwards. It takes everything in him to not punch him for saying that, for giving him false hope.
He feels something he hasn’t felt in years— feels that whisper in his mind— one hit and it’ll all feel better. Just one hit.
NO! He screams mentally. He feels like bashing his head open.
Instead he lifts his dead eyes to survey the rest of the room— Kori’s on the couch, staring into space. Artemis has a crying Lian in her arms, she’s showing her something— old photos of Jason. Talking, whispering in a broken voice.
No, no he should be the one comforting Lian—
What’s he gonna say?
That— That Jason— That her Papa’s gone forever? That he’s never— he’s never coming back?
No— Jay— Jay deserved so much better, he— he already died once before, he’s been through so much, things were supposed to be better now— not— no, he’s—
Roy feels Bizarro sit beside him, gently patting his arm.
He snaps out of his thoughts again, turning to Jason’s former teammate, his eyes red-rimmed. His voice raw, he whispers, “Jay’s gone…”
Wally’s standing in the Hall of Heroes, staring up at the holographic projection of Dick— he looks so majestic, so mighty, staring ahead with nothing but hope and courage in his eyes.
Nothing like the cold, dead body that Wally held in his arms just two days ago.
He’s surrounded by his teammates, his friends— Kaldur, M’gann, Artemis, Zatanna, L’gann, Garth— yet he feels so alone.
He sees it again— Dick bleeding out it his arms, his wounds so fatal he died before help arrived. Wally’s the fastest man alive, damn it, yet he couldn’t even save his best friend— his boyfriend. He feels the moment when Dick’s breathing stopped, when his body went limp, when his grip on Wally’s hand loosened.
Everyone’s quiet. M’gann’s stress baking again, L’gann by her side. Artemis and Zatanna are sitting together, Garth’s lingering in a corner, and Kaldur’s standing right beside Wally— close enough for comfort but not so close he’s lurking. He’s shaking.
He can still hear it, hear Dick forcing out his last words, telling Wally it’s okay, that he loves him, that it’ll be fine.
It’s not fine. Not without you.
He wants to scream.
He wants to cry, yell, hit something, do anything.
But he can’t move.
So he just stands there, almost as still as the holographic projection of Dick before him.
Kon is left reeling.
Tim… Tim is…
Tim’s dead.
Tim’s really gone.
He thinks, for just a second, that this is how Tim and Cassie must have felt when he and Bart “died”.
Bart is sitting beside him on the couch, leaning on his side, Cassie’s got her head on his lap. Neither of them speak— Bart’s not even fidgeting— they’re all just trying to be there for each other.
The other Titans are up and about, but staying close for comfort. Jaime and Gar are making food for everyone in the kitchen, Raven and Vic have come back to the tower to make sure the others are okay, and he’s sure Karen’s around too, somewhere.
Yet he feels so empty.
Feels nothing at all.
How can he, when his best friend is dead?
Jon hasn’t spoken in a bit. Not when his Mom brought him his favorite soup, not when Grandma and Grandpa showed up to ‘help’ him and Dad through this, not when Krypto plopped down beside him to comfort him.
He hugs the dog close.
Krypto’s technically Kon’s, but Jon’s sure Kon wouldn’t mind if he stole Krypto for a day.
Another sob escapes him, and he buries his head in Krypto’s back. The dog whines, licking Jon’s hand.
He can’t believe Damian’s gone.
Really gone.
And he didn’t know just how much he would miss his friend.
Dinah finds Talia Al Ghul on a building in Metropolis, overlooking the city. Her face is tight with sorrow, but she keeps herself in check, her back straight, head held high.
She already knows, Dinah deduces.
“I… I’m sorry,” Dinah starts, unsure of what to say. She knows, from her experience as a psychologist, that ‘sorry’ is the last thing a grieving person wants to hear, but she doesn’t have anything else to say.
Talia doesn’t reply for a long time. Then she says, her voice numb, “I should have known, when bringing Damian into this life, that I would also be bringing him amidst the dangers that come with.”
Dinah’s brows furrow. “It’s not your fault. You couldn’t have done anything at all.”
“I should have trained him better, I should have kept him close, I should—” Talia takes a shuddering breath. “I should have never brought him into this life.”
Dinah can’t argue with that— she knows how Damian had come to be, and it… wasn’t the best birth ever.
“Now leave, hero,” Talia says, her voice numb and cold. “Go back to protecting the world. Leave me be.”
Dinah wants to say something better, comfort the woman, but she can’t. So she just turns back, and leaves.
By the time Harper Row makes her way to the Clock Tower, there’s already quite a crowd there— Kate, Renee Montoya, Harley, Ivy, Silena, and Helena Bertinili— they’re crowding around Babs, comforting her. Luke Fox and Isabella Ortiz are at the computer, looking through something.
Harper tries to open her mouth to speak, but she can’t get the words out.
She makes her way over to Luke and Izzy, shoulders hunched.
Just three days ago she’d been hanging out with Duke and Izzy and Cass and Steph— they’d all been so carefree, so happy…
And now…
Once she gets close enough she realizes Izzy’s crying, and immediately wraps her arms around the shorter girl. Harper’s trying to hold back tears of her own, too. She feels Luke putting a hesitant hand on her shoulder, squeezing tight.
No one speaks for a long time, they just stand together, seeking comfort in each other.
Then Babs rolls her wheelchair to the center of the room, wiping at her bloodshot eyes. But when she speaks, she sounds surprisingly steady. She’s compartmentalizing, Harper realizes. Putting away Barbara and bringing Oracle back.
“Gotham needs her heroes, now more than ever,” Oracle says, head held high. “We must honor our friends by doing the one thing they’d have wanted— to keep fighting. Keep Gotham safe.”
She sighs, her face tight to fight away tears. “Luke. Batman’s contingency plan, in the Robins’ absence, was to pass you the mantle of Batman. Do you accept?”
Luke’s eyes grow wide slightly, but he straightens himself, looking away. “I… I accept. Dad isn’t going to be happy, but… Gotham needs Batman.”
“Thank you.” Oracle nods at him. “As per Bruce’s will, all Wayne assets, the Manor, and the Batcave are split between Kate, me, Alfred, and Lucius. I… Lucius and I are still figuring out who’s going to take over Wayne Enterprises, but on the vigilante side, I’ve got a plan.”
She turns to Ivy, Harley, Kate, Silena and Helena. “The Birds of Prey are needed here, now more than ever. Dinah— Black canary has offered to help us with Gotham, too.”
Harley nods, sniffling. Beside her, Ivy speaks up, “The… Most Rogues aren’t happy about this. They’re not rampaging— Bane has fashioned his own version of the Batsuit, he’s going around ‘saving’ people, screaming that Batman never dies. The Joker’s searching for Lazarus Pits and Bruce’s body. Jervis Tetch and Nygma held a get-together yesterday, in the memory of the Bats. I… I think they might help us.”
Harper’s gotta admit, she’s quite surprised about this. Even Babs freezes, taking in this information.
“Gotham needs Robin as much as she needs Batman,” Izzy speaks up from beside her, her voice small but firm. “The Robins can come back, this time you can give us formal training so we can actually help.”
Oracle turns to Luke. “Taking on Robins is your decision, Batman.”
Luke winces at that title— it doesn’t feel like an honor to him, it just feels like an incessant reminder that he’s the last one left. Because his friends are dead. But he nods, anyway, not trusting himself to speak right now.
Then Oracle addresses Harper. “I… would you like to be Batgirl?”
Harper’s heart stops. Memories flash into her head— seeing Steph in the Batgirl costume, seeing Cass in the Batgirl suit, both of whom are now gone.
“N— No,” Harper stutters out, eyes tearful. “I can’t— I’m sorry, Babs. I appreciate the offer, but… Cass was Batgirl. I can’t take her place.”
“I understand.” Babs just nods, lips pursed, misty-eyed. “We will all need to work hand-in-hand until everything settles, we will need to be vigilant. Carry on Batman’s legacy, for as long as we may need to.”
No one speaks again.
They all just let it sink in, hearts heavy.
They’re going to have to do this alone now.

Something very Stephanie Brown about Stephanie Brown is that Bruce, Alfred, Babs, Damian, Kate, Tim, and Cass are all like "Wow! Dick Grayson's so spontaneous and wild and happy-go-lucky and rebellious and gung-ho and a ray of sunshine..." while Stephanie's like "OHMYGODDD, this guy's such a stick-in-the-mud!!".

Stephanie is literally chaos incarnate and Dick couldn't handle it (initially).
Meanwhile:

Most of these stories are happening around the same time by the way.
It also feels pretty hard-earned when these two do come around with each other, at the end of the Core Requirements arc. They had a cute dynamic and they're so similar in so many ways (Bruce even said it during The Road Home). We were robbed of more. It was absolute genius: "hmm...what if...Batman and Batgirl....were ROBIN!".

Reverse Robins Plot Bunny
okay, so i've been thinking about how a reverse robins plot would work while mostly leaving intact their origin stories and core personalities and also bruce's own plots and i have a lot of thoughts that i need to share asap cause i'm pretty sure this will never see the light of day (feels like a pretty big fic) but if someone wants to pick it up please go ahead just pretty please tag me or dm me or something so i can go and read asap
SO! we have 5 robins that in reverse order would be: damian, stephanie, tim, jason and dick (you can add or take batfam members as you please).
Damian Al Ghul-Wayne
so damian starts with his same origin: bio son of bruce and talia, after dropping out of med school bruce goes on his world tour and ends up in the league of shadows, he meets talia and falls in love and they have a relationship, ra's wants bruce to be his heir so he approves and talia finds out that she's pregnant with damian, but hey, ra's wants him for his own purposes and talia doesn't want that for damian (good mom talia for the win) so she tells bruce and ra's she lost the baby. bruce full of heartbreak doesn't align with ra's beliefs so he leaves to return to gotham. years later talia brings damian to bruce and damian creates robin. as his only son at the beginning, damian probably feels even more entitled to bruce's legacy and he's a bit of an asshole but gets better. even then, bruce's ideology and damian's upbringing clash a lot (he's still the son of talia and he grew up in a cult) up until the point damian leaves behind the mantle of robin and creates a new name for himself (black bat suits him i think) and his own group like jl (which are the titans).
Stephanie Brown
now, stephanie would be introduced slightly before than tim. we get the whole spoiler first and that's how bruce meets her, he gives her the mantle of robin for a while after damian becomes black bat which pisses him off (there's probs less friction that what dick/jason's dynamic had in the og canon over robin but oh boi their relationship ain't good for a while). it's not a long run as robin because stephanie gets in trouble with black mask, which ends bad but not dead bad, and bruce, scared out of his mind, uses that as an excuse to push her away and fires her.
bruce would then have tim as a robin and stephanie would create batgirl.
batgirl gives stephanie more freedom than working with batman ever would, she's really headstrong and being able to improvise is her main forte so i think she would create a new mantle as a way to recover after what happened with black mask. later she'll be the one to give it to barbara and would return to spoiler also as a way to join tim (now red robin) in his search for bruce after he "dies".
Tim Drake
tim's obsessed with batman and robin right? he goes out and takes pictures of them every night and he probably figured out their identities through matching every single one of bruce's injuries with batman's absences or through figuring out stephanie's identity. when damian becomes black bat and soon after stephanie!robin is fired he probably does some calculations and realizes that batman solves more crimes with a robin than without one and he tries to convince stephanie to return but stephanie is recovering from black mask (and creating batgirl in the background) and also mad at bruce for firing her so she rejects it and tim's like well, guess it's gotta be me and goes to bruce. bruce doesn't want to because of what happened with black mask but tim's really insistent and bruce gives him the mantle of robin. stephanie doesn't like it much but accepts it, tim's intelligent and rich and that makes stephanie feel inferior, but later on tim and stephanie's relationship becomes something that pushes both of them to be better. tim's parents die and bruce adopts him which makes his relationship with damian turn bad, and damian grows to despise tim, in his head stephanie wasn't adopted (she still has her mum) so she never registered as a threat for the cowl but now tim's adopted and bruce considers him a son but then bruce fucking dies! or at least it's what they all think but tim's convinced he isn't (he isn't) so he leaves gotham and the mantle of robin behind and becomes red robin (i do actually like the red robin title a lot) to search for a way to get bruce back and is joined by spoiler in his search.
at this point damian takes up the cowl and becomes batman.
Jason Todd.
now, damian is batman, he doesn't like the idea of having a robin, tim and stephanie are world trotting, and that leaves only him and alfred in that mansion. is lonely and he regrets a lot of his past attitudes with tim and all of the fights with bruce, so he's a really cryptid version of batman, all alone and sticking to the shadows because he's a ninja. one day he's patrolling crime alley when surprise! a wild jason tries to steal the tires of the batmobile and well, damian hasn't seen that kind of spunk in a while and he laughs. damian likes jason a lot and offers him a place in the manor, offers to train him, makes him robin, his robin, not bruce's but one of his own choosing. so damian really likes jason and they work together well and jason loves damian, he's his family, his brother.
and then bruce returns, stephanie and tim being the ones that brought him back.
now bruce and jason take a while to adjust and it's more common to now see black bat and robin together but still, bruce is a good father right? tim's not that good with jason but tries, and stephanie loves jason because they both have similar backgrounds. by this point bruce has more experience as a father figure and jason gets adopted and truly comes to see bruce as his dad and starts calling him that but still the whole thing with the joker happens and jason fucking dies. this hits bruce HARD. way harder than in canon because by that point his family is so big and has manage to grow, there's damian and tim, and stephanie even if she's not adopted and he has good relationships with everyone but then jason dies and bruce loses damian too because in his grief damian blames bruce, blames himself, kills the joker and goes back to the league of shadows and talia. tim and stephanie are dealing with their own grief, alfred too, and this leaves bruce completely alone.
a grieving bruce finds dick and, seeing a reflection of his suffering, makes him robin
while dick was becoming robin we know what happens, jason digs himself out of his grave, spends a year in a coma, another catatonic in gotham's streets. nobody finds him, bruce probably saw him once or twice and thought it was a hallucination, stephanie and tim don't patrol crime alley, and damian returns to gotham before talia finds him. when talia finds him and hides him from ra's. she first wants to bring him back to health before returning him to damian because jason meant so much to him, enough to disobey bruce's only rule, but ra's finds out about jason and that he came back to life, they try to figure out how and ra's is the one with the idea to push him into the lazarus pit. now jason is trapped with the league, talia tells him how damian avenged him, how he still mourns him, there's no true resentment with bruce about the robin mantle being passed, and damian was the one that made him robin, not bruce. so he's trapped with the league but talia wants to return him to damian so she plans and in the meanwhile she sends jason on his world training tour promising him that he will return to gotham one day. talia helps him escape and jason returns to gotham under the mantle of red hood.
Dick Grayson
bruce is devastated. he doesn't know how to be batman anymore and he's completely alone, left by his family that's dealing with their own grief. that's when he sees a boy that reminds him so much of himself. a young dick grayson that just lost his parents and is angry at the world. but he's also a really happy and hopeful child and bruce wants to help him, he needs to help him because he can't fail another child again. so, dick becomes robin. tim takes as his responsibility to train dick because he never trained with jason and he cannot fail another brother.
stephanie in the background trains barbara and makes her batgirl.
dick grows as robin, alfred, stephanie and tim telling him stories of jason, of how good of a robin was and dick becomes enamoured by the image of robin!jason. bruce is wrapped in his grief and dick is doing his best and sometimes it's not enough and it's been almost two years then damian comes back. he and bruce make peace with each other but in their relationship there's a jason shaped hole that'll never heal. dick and damian get to know each other and damian tells him even more stories of jason, stories that make him look more human, more like a kid that made a few mistakes, instead of the perfect picture the others paint.
and then, the red hood appears.
bruce and dick try to investigate but the red hood is good. not only did he take over the organized crime of gotham, he cleared crime alley of any other gang and made it his territory. damian starts to act weird all of the sudden after chasing red hood once and returning empty handed. damian and red hood meet, damian discovers he's jason, jason feels like he has no home to return because he's too different now, obviously damian doesn't tell anybody yet but bruce suspects. bruce and jason confront each other and good dad!bruce begs him to come home. after that, it's an adjustment, jason wants to stay legally dead and keep his apartment in crime alley but would still visit the manor and dick with his hero crush on him would look for him all the time
A/N: this is more of a gen fic idea, but i'm a shipper at heart so maybe i woud add some jaydick romance when they're trying to convince jason to return to the family. but yeah, after this i have nothing concrete, i guess it ends here when they finally get to be a big family again. bruce probs has a lot of ptsd after jason's dead and maybe decides to retire at 50 and officially give the mantle to damian. dick becomes nightwing after robin and later barbara becomes oracle and creates the birds of prey. but yeah, my only problem with all of these ideas is that it looks like a really fucking long fic. hell, i would probably make different fics for each robin and make it a series so i can correctly develop each and everyone of their personalities and stories and give them time to grow, each work would probs be from bruce's and the current robin pov's. but also, you can totally see that jason's my favourite and i haven't developed that well some of the other robins, so i would probs write his part first and never come back to the rest. i just needed to share my ideas and if someone wants to pick them up please feel free to do it. i'll probably start to share more plot bunnies of the fics that i'll probably never get around to write.

Real Kiss: a ficlet
Pairing: Harper Row/Stephanie Brown
Prompts
Febuwhump @febuwhump : vocal chords
February Ficlet Challenge @februaryficletchallenge : "buckle up" and "survive"
Femslash February Bingo @femslash-february : "You could've died"
"Buckle up, buttercup,” Harper makes a show of adjusting the straps on Steph's parachute.
“You're ridiculous,” says Steph.
“And you love it,” Harper blows her a kiss.
“I do,” Steph catches it between her fingers. Something about the motion makes something in her ache. “Please don't die.”
“Right back at you, baby,” Harper’s tone shifts, and for a split-second Steph wonders if they're afraid too. It makes sense - all Steph has to do is jump out of the plane; Harper has to land it. Then their normal expression is back. Steph reassures herself of one of the core truths of their relationship: Harper Row isn't afraid of anything.
Steph isn't either. It's why they work so well. “Come over here and kiss me for real.”
“I have to give us both something to look forward to.” There's an uncharacteristic seriousness in their tone.
“I'm holding you to that,” Steph swallows.
“You better,” Harper shoots her finger guns and heads for the cockpit.
Steph's delayed long enough. She jumps. The chute opens. Steering it the rest of the way down is just muscle memory after that. She's going to be just fine.
She hits the ground in time to watch Harper's descent. It isn't an easy one. The plane starts to stall out. A scream builds in Steph's throat and gets caught in her vocal chords.
Come on, Harper. You owe me a real kiss.
Then Harper gently coaxes the plane back into motion. It glides onto the makeshift runaway, jittery-but-stable. Harper scrambles out of the cockpit. They hit the ground hard. Steph cuts herself free of the chute and runs towards them, faster than she's ever run in her life.
She can hear Harper cursing under their breath as they pull themself to their feet. Steph reaches them. They have scrapes on their knees and arms and a wild look in their eyes.
“You're alive,” Steph breathes into her partner's chest.
“So are you,” Harper says, and kisses her. They hold Steph tightly as they dust her head with more soft kisses. Steph leans into their touches. She never wants them to stop. “We both are.”
