and everyone in camp just watching that happen like.. that's Quite A Moment for him to go through right in front of a bunch of people he's only known for (usually) a handful of days at most? and Karlach is right there realizing he was 100% willing to get killed by his patron for her to live! and everyone else in camp is also witnessing all of this!

it's kind of an insane thing to meet a guy and go "oh he's cool and hot and has the tadpole he can come with :)" and then find out the "devil" he's hunting is actually another tadpole buddy and then shortly after that you watch his patron torture and transform him in the middle of your camp and he gets back up and keeps going!! and you're standing there like,,,,, your man just got marinated in all the hells at once,,

and you can talk to him afterwards and reassure him and all but listen. listen.. I just think people who talk about Karlach or a tiefling Tav (or the grove tieflings? do they talk about the grove tieflings?) helping him out with horn care are onto something I think he could use a little more... is the word 'aftercare'? just wouldn't his skin and muscles hurt after all that... what if he needs a little massage :( a gentle head rub :( he needs to go to a spa in Baldur's Gate (and it goes without saying that he (and every one of the tadfools yes but this ain't about them) could use a good therapist)

honestly, no wonder wyll sulks at the beach during the tiefling party. he has had no time to process everything that's happened - from hunting karlach in avernus, to getting tadpoled, the nautiloid crashing, saving the druid grove from goblins, helping the tiefling refugees, sparing the person you swore to kill, getting transformed into a devil, infiltrating the goblin camp, killing the three goblin leaders, rescuing halsin only to find out they have to go to moonrise towers anyway. all in - what? a week or two? not to mention he has a mindflayer parasite, the threat of mindflayer transformation looming over everyone in camp.

so the one time the party finally has time for rest and relaxation and celebration - that's the time it all hits wyll. he's permanently changed. because he did the right thing. he can't bring himself to celebrate despite all the good he's done. will the people still trust him to protect them? or will they only see a devil?

and AAGGHHH there really should've been more [tiefling] dialogue for wyll... comforting him... giving him advice on horn care... or even as a flirt option to just offer to take care of it for him. yknow. he deserves it and more!!

As I said, I've written the the duo/trio/group names down idgwjsy this is not all of it since idk some and I refuse to acknowledge MANY. (Will be updating constantly methinks)

I'm sorry for everyone who finds duo/trio/group names cringe and want them to end, but this is literally a way for me to organize stuff and make it easier for me. Yeah they're annoying sometimes, but duo names help me find art/analysis/general information about a friendship in the server without having to search up individual names. Because everyone has stuff other than that one specific friendship.

Like, if I search up 'Foolish Gamers' hoping to find some good Castleduo content, I will NOT find it easily. If I search up 'Foolish Gamers and Cellbit' I will only see stuff about them individually and not together. What I'm saying is, duo names are there (at least for me) for accessibility. And I don't WANT to combine their names because that's what fandoms usually do for romantic ships, which duo names are decidedly NOT.

But I do agree that the fandom should stop naming duos by the players' first random interaction. Stressduo? Really? Stop it, I BEG. At least think of something creative ToT

Yes, she and Asphodelpaw may have had a conversation about similar realizations she was going through just like Cormorantpaw, heheh. We'll get there someday.

I was so excited to finally include Seven Silvers in an issue!! When I first created her character I wasn't planning on it, but she's just too fun not to use. Hell, I'm allowed to invent magic cat hormone therapy if I want to, who's gonna stop me. Seven, Hush Puppy, and Egret are any manner of close friends you like, and found family/siblings are as good a way as any.

The POVs from other characters are not going to be very common, since Pinepaw is the protagonist in the end, but it's always nice to dip back into Cormorantpaw's thick little skull. I was pretty pleased with myself for thinking of the rubberhose style joke with "lovebug", honestly. Don't worry about his angst, I'm sure it's nothing.

Good catch on everything with Daffodilpaw in this issue! It's something I did intentionally include, and did want to draw a comparison between Corm describing her as not really listening to him with Pinepaw always listening to what he says (which as you said, doesn't mean Daff is a bad person, just that she's got her own things to work out).

Adrian hides everything about his passion for music, he hides that he plays piano on his own, even from his childhood friend. then he flees from the pursuit of music by trying to study theology, which however bores him. his private music teacher wants to convince him to take the final step and finally abandon the study of theology for music. the narrator, Serenus the childhood friend, points out that Adrian's mother would have no reason to think the study of music as something disturbing or unbecoming, and yet she displays a certain hostility towards the music teacher and an unexplainable protectiveness towards Adrian in his presence.

there is an entire letter from Adrian to his teacher where he tries to reason his way out of studying music and gives a series of explanations as to why his personality is not fit for it. he shows this letter to Serenus.

and like:

the way music stands for sexuality after this is then reiterated. Adrian in Leipzig is led into a brothel by a devil-like individual, who sells him the place as a tavern. only inside does Adrian understand where he is, but instead of accepting the girls attentions, he goes to a piano and plays. until one touches him with an arm, then he leaves with nothing done. he writes about this to Serenus who is, oh my god, balls to the walls mad about it, but deflecting the reason why. he tells us no less than three times that we shouldn't read this worry and apprehension and fear as a tell on Serenus' own character. it only speaks as a reflection of Adrian's character. and like, you're saying this a bit too much for it to sound legit my buddy. methinks it's about both of you.

Adrian's letter also has gems such as

and Serenus commentary of it all, because oh my god. oh my god. and note the repetition of "angel" as a descriptor for Adrian which is the same thing Adrian said of, uh, Chopin.

Sexuality Headcanon: i find it peak comedy to have one (1) heterosexual headcanon in a collection of queer characters, and that is what I am subjecting jin ling to. poor child <3 I could also see him being a very repressed bisexual but that's gonna take a while to figure out. zhuzhi-lang is gay methinks.

Gender Headcanon: I am very fond of transfemme jin ling. I feel like the "young mistress" thing becomes less of an insult and more of just a nickname at a certain point, and once jin ling stops being annoyed by it, he has a moment like "I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me" and then it does. get trans'd idiot. zhuzhi-lang's gender is snake 🐍 or agender lksdjflksdjf

A ship I have with said character: I don't really have much of a ship for either of them, but I do think jin ling/lan jingyi is funny. they're like kids pulling their crush's pigtails except they're both doing it to each other. zhuzhi-lang definitely has a crush on shen qingqiu because everyone on the planet has a crush on shen qingqiu, but unfortunately sqq is an oblivious motherfucker and does not realize this

A BROTP I have with said character: JIUJIUS!! BOTH OF THEM!! jiang cheng and tianlang-jun's relationships with their respective nephews makes me WAIL. sometimes i think about the extra about tlj and zzl and i have to lay down for a bit. aside from jiujiu, I love jin ling's relationship with the rest of the juniors! I really like him finally having friends :')

A NOTP I have with said character: I know lan sizhui isn't really wangxian's child but I still feel kinda weird about shipping him with jin ling. they're too close to being cousins to me. they should just be buddies. I have yet to encounter a ship I'm avidly against for zhuzhi-lang! except, idk, his uncle and binghe I guess. no incest ships please.

A random headcanon: just like a-yuan used chenqing as a teething toy, I think baby jin ling played with zidian! jiang cheng would be holding him as a baby, and he'd start playing with the ring/bracelet combo, and it's very hard to be intimidated by sandu shengshou when he's holding a gurgling infant that's playing with zidian like a fidget toy. my headcanon for zhuzhi-lang is that he is NOT dead, i don't CARE what the book says, he SURVIVES DAMMIT. I CARE HIM.

General Opinion over said character: I like them :] jin ling is one of my favorite mdzs characters, which really surprised me bc i found him SO annoying at first, but he grew on me so badly. love that kid. zhuzhi-lang also surprised me, I enjoyed how secretly unhinged he was, and I wish he had survived so bad
