-Ru Ja Gun Con- (continuation of the Green Ranger ask)
"It's best to boil down a Power Ranger to being a 'Teenager with attitude'..... sometimes. Most Rangers are either adults, young adults or teenagers. Hell, a Blue Ranger at one point was a literal 11 or 12 year old boy who, mind you, was a badass.
BUT...
A Power Ranger can also be boiled down... to this..
*shows Tommy morphing into the Green Ranger*
......Okay.... So basically that... besides if Green isn't your color, we also have White, Silver, Red, Yellow, Black and any other color that belongs in the rainbow which is pretty cool.
Previously
Ruby: So... It's people who change clothes to become a lot more powerful? That sounds kind of lame.
Jaune: Y-Yeah, there's, uh... No way anyone would make the effort to change their clothes to be even stronger... especially not with a flashy, half hour transformation sequence that has a chance of blinding you.

Kaiju Number 8 AU ideas (Cuz' now I have several :-| ) [mostly KafHoshi flavored]
Genderbend AU: Kafka is a wholesome, supportive, big titty tomboy Blue collar girlfriend and Hoshina is a small titty, punk gf who runs a martial arts dojo and is a closeted manic pixie dream girl who need the emotional support to follow her dreams.
2. OOPS! All Kaiju!: Iharu (bright pink with wings), Aoi (navy blue with armor plating), Haruichi (sea foam green and spikes?/acid?/speedy? just double checked its definitely projectile spikes), and Kikoru (lemon yellow and blade creation/ manipulation) all undergo the same kaiju-ification process that Kafka went through and now he has to act as the Peter B. Parker of the group.
"Yes, you shed like a lizard does. It takes a month and it sucks the entire time. For the love of GOD, don't pick at it until it's ready otherwise you end up with rashes."
You could include Reno in there, I'm sure he'd have a badass design, but I didn't because I want to put him through the same mental downward spiral that I think Hoshina would go through when they realize they're into monsterf*cking.
Reno is just sitting there like "What is wrong with me?" and Hoshina is standing next to him with a blender bottle saying
"Bit of advice? Get over it soon because fighting the post nut clarity is not worth it."
To which Reno asks "How would you know?" as Hoshina's eyes pan over to Kafka who's teaching Iharu how to use his new kaiju tongue to eat out a pint sized ice cream container.
"O-oh...." Reno says as realization dawns on him.
"Yeah" Hoshina says as he smacks his lips, "That could be us right now."
"SI-SIR!"
"Hey, don't act like you weren't thinking it too."
3. Model AU: Mina runs a modeling agency and Hoshina is a talent scout. She sends him to find people that a modeling agency wouldn't typically consider for modeling in an attempt to showcase diversity in a positive light. Not knowing where to start, Hoshina heads to a bar and accidentally meets Kafka. The two talk and it comes up in conversation what Hoshina has been set out to do. As a joke, Kafka makes a bet that Hoshina can't make a garbage man be the next top model. (he's the garbage man in question.)
Kafka and Mina know each other. They fell out of contact when Mina made it into college and Kafka had to help support his grandparents through a rough time. Hoshina then hires Aoi (blasian) Haruichi (top surgery scars) and a delinquent brother-sister duo for the teen division (Iharu and Kikoru, who are orphans being raised by their successful gamer live-streamer older brother Narumi. I'm aware this part's a bit of a stretch, so just consider it a non-essential personal flair.) Reno was already a part of the modeling agency but had started to have problems dealing with body image, which Kafka helps correct and sets him on a healthier path. Iharu and Reno later become actors in a popular Power Rangers knock off show and become a canon couple on and off set.
#kaiju no. 8#au's#I wrote this on 3 hours of sleep.#the oops all Kaiju one I've had for a while#the rest are more recent#idk I just like the idea of the division getting their own kaiju based Power Ranger superhero group.#With Kafka acting like the “cool sensei”#I.e. he just shows them all the weird sh*t they can do with their bodies now. like rib mouth#I don't know why#but I can totally see Kafka tearing up a catwalk in Balenciaga and glasses.#kafka hibino#soshiro hoshina#reno ichikawa#iharu furuhashi

I wrote this a loooooong time ago and just never posted it. Cobra Kai in general has always given me early 2000s Power Rangers vibes. Like I keep waiting for a monster or a Megazord to appear. Like imagine a Giant Kreese stomping all over the valley? Hilarious! Anyway, here’s my take on which character would be which Ranger, updated of course because of the new season.
Miguel - Red Ranger
The one who started it all. Confidence growing as his skills did. He’s a leader with a strong moral compass. Despite being mislead a few times he ultimately tries to do what’s right and just. Miguel is quick for action when something is going down. Others in his group look to him on how to proceed in any given situation. His fighting style is equal parts passion and discipline. He will not accept defeat but will extend mercy when it’s clear he’s won.
Eli - Blue Ranger to Indigo Ranger
Former bullied kid. Former baddie. Total badass. He started out as a Blue Ranger due to coming across as a second in command to Miguel. Due to being corrupted by Kreese, I think Blue is a little to clean for Eli. Indigo is one of the Ranger colors reserved for rangers who start at a dark place and eventually switch to fight for the light whilst staying true to who they are. Eli is an example and a cautionary tale. He’s proof that redemption is possible. He is a strong leader and passionate. His fighting style does have a brutality to it but in recent seasons has learned to restrain himself. He does well as a second in command to anyone he holds in high regard.
Demetri - Non Ranger to Blue Ranger
Probably loves being on this list until he realizes that Power Ranger stuff is dangerous. He’s on the edges of the karate drama but eventually gets pulled in. Feeling he has no choice, he involves himself fully to protect himself and to aid his friends. Whilst not being a strong fighter he has a strong heart and mind. He’s grounding in unbelievable situations. Loyal and faithful in his friends no matter which path they fall in. His philosophy for fighting is only when completely necessary.
Sam - Pink Ranger
Words to live by: Respect the Pink. Sam has the soft and graceful nature most Pink Rangers are known for whilst still having an unexpected strength to them. She is stubborn and it takes a lot to get her to budge on some things. Kind and compassionate but not easy to get over a grudge. Despite her shortcomings, she strives for understanding between her peers and within herself. She is open to new styles and combines them to maximize her chance for success. To the ones she loves, she will protect them til the end.
Tory - Yellow Ranger
Yellow Rangers are tenacious and hard working and Tory is no exception. Tory isn’t afforded softness and mercy, she must be sharp and hard. She is territorial and will protect what’s her’s with all the ferocity and power she has. She gives it her all. Her strong sense of integrity and struggle make her a hard worker and very skilled. She is not without a empathy or a sense of right and wrong. Her style is precise and devastating, with a great skill of resourcefulness. A great asset to anyone who has earned her trust and respect.
Robbie - Specialty Dark Ranger to Green Ranger
Now when I say Green Ranger, I mean Tommy Oliver level Green Ranger. Iykyk. Something about Robbie or maybe just Tanner Buchanan seems so silently powerful. A soft power almost. He’s patient, observant and rarely strikes first. He has wide knowledge of various styles due to being taught by various senseis. He’s strongly empathetic and is heavily guided by his emotions. His wondering from place to place and delinquency, previous seasons (especially season 1) and subsequent influence by Kreese and Silver gave him a darker energy. I think once he came to terms with himself at the end of season 4 (after witnessing how he negatively influenced Kenny Payne) his Green Ranger Era Began. His style was previously well disciplined but brutal. He now has a more controlled, even style of fighting with just as much passion but with plenty of hard earned restraint. And despite his history, you won’t find anyone with a purer heart.
Johnny - Veteran Red Ranger
Probably the most chaotic and irresponsible Red Ranger but definitely a Red Ranger. Johnny is a leader no matter how you look at it. More so a leader of action versus strategy but still a leader. His methods are questionable but he guarantees results. His intentions are not always clear but he undoubtedly cares for others deeply, including his students. He is passionate, protective, stubborn, and a bit unaware of himself. His fighting style is powerful, precise and brutal. Remember this man really loves the people he loves. You mess with one of his, he’ll mess you up worse.
Daniel - Veteran Blue Ranger
Yeah I feel this doesn’t need much explanation. Wise, discipline, strong moral compass, integrity, passion, lead by emotions, and a leader. His passion, moral compass, and emotions can sometimes blind him and carry him away. He fights not just for himself but for his students, friends, and his family. He is stubborn in his ideals but upon seeing reason is open to new ideologies. His fighting style is restrained with years of discipline but not lacking in power. He may not always get it right but you can count on him to mean well.
Chozen - Former Bad Guy to Veteran Black Ranger
Chozen was a bit difficult to decipher because he was a bad guy until he was brought back in Cobra Kai. He’s wise but also very silly with a young heart and soul. He was as bad as you could get and now he’s the first to offer a helping hand or fist. Despite his goofy antics, his presence can be very grounding in times of conflict. On the flip side he could also be the first to attack without being fully informed. He’s loyal and gracious to those who have given him a second chance. His fighting style is a mix between Johnny and Daniel - equal amounts brutality and hard earned discipline.

Not sure how to go about the headcanon things, but here's some for the comic timelines we both see and only got little hints at during Shattered Grid and Graphic One-Shots:
Eric Myers is not as big of an asshole as he was in the live action Time Force, or he never would have GIVEN Jen a hug.
Cam missed every single member of his team and his dad while stuck in Beyond the Grid, but was mostly worried that Drakkon got his slimy hands on his cousins when he saw a lot of the villains throughout the dimensions and timelines out on the battlefield.
Mia ACTUALLY learned to cook in the second month on Promethea when she lost her powers, because Tyler Navarro, Dana Mitchell, and T.J. Johnson were all there and all of them would have recognized something was not right when she didn't cook chicken and thought a Carolina Reaper made a great condiment.
Fun idea about the World of the Coinless: the Comic Relief or Secondary Characters are all badass and pretty much evolved like Pokemon when Drakkon took over. Fran got shipped to Pai Zhua with Casey when Skull finagled them out of the dungeons they were in for stealing bread and was given Orange, which made her perfect for dual combat in the field with RJ; Victor and Monty got found by Bulk trying to protect grade school children some sentries were bullying after curfew and turned out perfect to help out Trini and the first assault fighters in the field; Ben and Betty got split up during a bombing that killed their dad--with Ben getting picked up by the Coinless and taken under the wing of Rocky and Aisha, whereas Betty got caught by the sentries to be turned over to the Mastodon Division BUT got a final hour diversion into palace housekeeping because Adam is a big softie even if he can't stand up for himself. And so on~
Spike Skullovitch DOES NOT have a mother. Make of that whatever you want.
Animals still exist in the RPM universe, but are kept underground in a specialized, secondary location not terribly unlike the Son Doong Cave.
Cassidy and Devin are actually exceptionally competent when paired up with the Rangers in their high school to do literally anything; largely because the Morphin Grid sets up certain people to assist their Rangers from one team to another and these two were perfect. Though...for some reason they work 90% better with Trent than any of the Primary Rangers?
Orange is the rarest Grid Color and most of those who end up wearing it are female or have a lot of femme qualities and/or some form of mental illness.
When the Psycho Rangers were left to their own devices in the aftermath of the Psycho Path, Yellow never took up a different name and none of them ever went looking for the person that they used to be.
J.J. Oliver is a trans man and Anara is a trans woman and they're both pansexual. They go to Pride together every year and there is a MASSIVE betting pool on when they finally figure out they're basically dating.
Clare might be a massive klutz and Leelee might still be getting used to the whole being human thing, but both of them are the most responsible people in their circle of friends and family.
Sharing your headcanons is just sending me headcanons to enjoy/share with me, with I'm 100% down for. Asking me about mine is just asking me about headcanons surrounding specific teams or people. As a precaution, I haven't seen the comics at all.
I fucking love all of these!
Thank you!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Green With Evil Review (Sponsored By Brotoman.EXE)
Happy St. Patricks day Rangers! On this fair blog i've dipped my toe into the morphing grid before with "Forever Red" but today I dive deep as I cover one of the most important arcs in power ranger history, an arc that would deefine how the series tackled sixth rangers, change the status quo for the first time ever and introduce the greatest ranger of all, Tommy Oliver.
Green of Evil is a 5 parter from the original power rangers, and the ones I watched as a kid, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. MMPR was a massive part of my childhood: I had mmpr cutrtains, bedsheets, the toys, as did my brother, and played all the games, which would also be worth revisiting at some point. It was the big thing and likely, along with Fox Kids superhero lineup, helped steer me towards the superhero nerd I am today. Was the show cheesy? Yes. Overacted. God yes. Was the footage used from Super Sentai obvious in hindsight/ Indubtly. But was it fun?
MMPR is so earnest in it's cheese, toyetic nature and acting I just can't help but still love it. It's all the ham of a 60's era comic or monster movie but with a style all it's own.. well it's and Zyuranger, but still. And this was eaisly season' one's peak.
For those two of you not familiar with MMPR, a refesher: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is the story of "five teenagers with attitude" summoned by Zoron, a giant wizard what lives in a tube, and his robot buddy Alpha 5. They are Stallone style meat head and leader man Jason, valley girl and gymnst kimblery, cheery enironmentalist Trini, turbo nerd Billy, and breakdancer cool dude Zack. Together they became the Red, Pink, Yellow, Blue and Black rangers and using their martial arts skills, varied intrests and combinging giant dinsoaur megazords, they became the power rangers. Together they defend the world from the various goofy monsters sent to earth by Rita Repulsa, an evil space empress of evil who some astronauts found in a dumpster, and now hunts our heroes with the help of her minons: Goldar, a hammy furry in golden armor, Finster, who sculpts the monsters Rita sends out of clay, and Squat and Baboo… who certainly are there.
The show mostly stuck to the formula of "Rita makes a monster based on some intrest of the kids this week as she spies on them constantly", and our heroes have to stop it, eventually summoning their robots when Rita MAKES HER MONSTER GROWWWW.
Green with Evil is where it breaks for a bit: while some of it's still in tact Green with Evil is one long story, taking advantage of the sohw's daily release to tell one long epic as the team faces their worst nightmare: a sixth ranger under rita's control who soon leaves them without Zordon and on the defensive. It's the first time MMPR really had a story arc or higher stakes than go beat up a pumpkin what also wraps: our heroes had a real chance of loosing. Will they triumph? Well yeah, but find out how under the cut!
We begin our epic as Angel Grove is having it's 30th or so Martial Arts compettitoin at the Juice bar and being the team martial artist, Jason is naturally one of the front runners. He has some commpetion first as we first meet Tommy Oliver doing what he does best: giving a lot of badass "KIAHS" and doing some martial arts moves. Jason David Frank was a martial artist and it shows, and he'd go professional after leaving power rangers.
The show also does a nice job hyping Tommy up without it being too "GEE LOOK AT THIS GREAT GUY SURE HOPE HE DOSEN'T TURN EVIL' It's just the right amount "GEE LOOK AT THIS GREAT GUY I SURE HOPE HE DOSEN"T TURN EVIL", as he and jason are evenly matched to the point they tie and thus both win. or no one wins/ I dunno. Instead of sudden death or anything the two just shake hands and become best buds while Kimmberly is super into the new guy, kicking off one of the biggest romances in ranger history>
Tommy further wins Kim over the next day when Bulk and Skull hit on her as they do every episode. That was really all they did at first far as I can tell: hit on kimberly and get into shenanigans while their dope as hell theme song played. Bulk plans to teach her a lesson but before Kimberly rearrrange their face, Tommy steps in and makes it clear he will if they keep this shit up. Being Bulk and Skull, they scoff at the guy clearly more musccular than they are till he does some karate moves and scares them off. Kim asks Tommy to casually hang.
Sadly for their casual hang makeout plans, Rita has other ideas. Rita has a green power coin. Where did she get it?
Yeah Rita just.. has a power coin. It's hinted Zordon knows more but he never tells the audeince. It's easy to accept because this series is hamtastic, but ti's still weird they didn't really flesh that out in this five parter. With all the ways Rita rants you'd THINK sh'ed be all over this.
Still WHY she hasn't used it is shockingly not spelled out but is easy enough to figure and makes way more sense: Yes she could've given it to anyone. Even Bulk. They hassle the rangers. But Rita wanted the right canditate before trying this, the right person whose skilled enough to take on all the rangers solo.
She still has to test him: after all a fair tournament sanctioned match and two wonderous idiots who talk a mean game but couldn't defeat a paper bag are one thing. She has to make sure he actually can figh tand sends puttys after him. He easily beats him and thus she kidnaps him, brainwashes him and gives him the power coin, and thus the Green Ranger Is Born!
Now the fact there's a ranger on the bad guys side would be enough.. but shockingly MMPR dosen't skimp on the implications of this: Tommy's first act under his brainwashing after the requite evil speechifying, is to teleport into the command center, gives Alpha a virus, sends Zordon to Parts Unknown and trashes the command center just to be a real dick. What helps this is Jason David Frank's delivery: not only is he credible both as nice goo dboy face tommy, but as heel tommy while over the top as anything else on this show, he truly exudes malice, being perfectly intimdating as he cuts his way through the rangers and in one move has done more damage than any other foe they've faced. And this is just PART ONE.
Oh and he's not done, after fighting Giant Sized Goldar #1, the rangers are ambushed by Greenie, who HOPS DIRECTLY INTO THE ZORD.
I mean.. it's not good for the rangers whoa re all comically thrown out, but it shows just how much danger there in: in the span of one episode Tommy has trashed their HQ, gotten rid of all the support they have, and now can simply just pop in during a zord. Sadly he won't do this again, likely due to sentai footage restraints, but the fact he COULD and the fact our heroes , as far as I can tell hadn' tbeen brought THIS low in the 20 episodes before this by any of the various weird monster men they'd blowed up real good, it strikes a nice town of danger and despiar: our heroes are up against the wall and Tommy isn't about to stop pushing.
Part 2 eases up on the tension slightly and instead leans back into the series comfort zone: total bollocks. We get Jason venting, thrown off and wanting the green ranger's as far as he knows green blood. I mean… given the evil magic is also green it could be right now. Maybe evil!tommy donated blood and ther'es some weird green blood out there. We don't know. At any rate he does this in a striped tank top and thus I can't.. not laugh.
Even more rediclous is after getting his orders from rita, Evil!Tommy sees Bulk and Skull, who naturally want revenge for last episode as they have the self preservation of two pugs hopped up on cocaine and red bull. Tommy repels them by SHOOTING GREEN LIGHTNING OUT OF HIS EYES
I just have no words. And it just.. levitates them kinda into a trashcan. Which TBF probably isn't new to either of them. If anyone has "Slept in a trash can" energy it's bulk and skull. At any rate he also brushes off Kim
We then get a bit more plot advancement for a second, as Rita decides to cement the brainwashing with the sword of darkness, a sword that was presented ot her as a gift after one of her troops won it from Zordon long ago. Goldar however suggetss a proper test and rather than something Tommy hasn't easily done.. they just sick more putties on him except he's in a rediculous mesh shirt this time.
The shenanigans intestify as now he has the power of darkness Tommy's plan is to politely say he understands Jason has to back out of their plans to work out, seriously at this point it comes off like a love triangle between him and kimberly.. or a possible polecule. Oh 90's, so many of your problems could be solved iwth polyculres. But instead of a romantic workout TOmmy just… zaps jason in the back with the coin to some dimesion with a bunch of neat decorations and a fog machine. This is some pocket Dimension what Goldar lives in and he takes Jason's morpher
And mostly.. bullies him for a while. That said it does bring back the tension: Jason is up alone against one of the rangers most powerful enemies without his morpher, and at best can just hide under the fog.
We do get a cool bit as the rest of the rangers have to make do without Jason.. and hav eto fight Tommy solo. Well as a grou pbut he easily hands them their asses on a green decorative plate 10 for a dollar at k-mart, which force sour heroes to do something they rarely do: call the megazord on a tiny opponent. This is something i've never quite understood till this five parter as during the last part Zordon lays out rules for a ranger for newcomer tommy: two are pretty standard: dont' tell anyone his identity and don't use his powers for personal gain. Standard superhero stuff and fair thigns for zordon to ask: Rita knows who they are and could weaponize the fact someone knows for her own gain, especially if said relationship turns sour. It dosen't justify them later going to obscene lenghts to not tell bulk and skull judging from history of power rangers, but I get it. But the third while making sense also neatly explains WHY they always wait to use the mega zord mode: "Do not esclate unless rita does first". It's a fair play rule: they COULD likely just summon the mega zord and kill them, but that would be both exessive, and sometimes not necessary. While most foes do embiggen, not every one gets the chance. Plus if they did start using the megazord for every fight, Rita could just counter by doing "MAKE MY MONSTER GROW" at the start, likely causing WAY more collateral than if they were just person sized.
This case though makes sense; The Ranger outclasses them, being Jason's equal and having a shiny new sword with "whatever the plot needs him to do" Powers, so they hav eno cohice and it's their first real victory. But it's still a hollow one as Jason is still missing and inches from Goldar's sword'
Part 3 opens with Jason cleverly hiding in the smoke machine mists… then not so cleverly just jumpnig out, yahhing at goldar then getting his ass beat again
(plan was)
Meanwhile a LOT of this part is the rangers runnin runnin around because Tommy's go tthem searching, fighting some puttys, though we do get Billy and bestie Trini working hard on the commuincators off screen, which pays off as just as Tommy goes to go finish jason after Goldar spent several hours toying with him fo rhis own amusement, they teleport him out. It's not badly done stuff as there's genuine tension with both of jason's opponenets and he gets out JUST in time with his morpher, it's just not a lot to recap. Jason is forced to stay in the dark dimension.. which I just realized is claled that. Did… did Rita rent a room just for this scheme from Dormmamu? I mean I could see them being buds. Talking about conquering, cursing minons and such. We also get Alpha breifly reaching Zordon and failing, and a fight wtih Scorpina. Scorpina is one of Rita's lesser known minons who showed up ocasoinally before they ran out of stock footage. She sure is here. They fight, our heroes win by withdrawl as Rita calls Scorpina back with a bigger idea; since the Zord is solar powered and Zordon dosen't belivie in you know, having a backup battery in case this exact thing happens or you know, Rita decides to attack at night which likely would be easier but not as much evil fun as causing an eclipse, this would drain the zord and leave it vunerable. She then sends Goldar out as bait and the part ends with the Rangers looking on horrified, knowing this is a trap but planning to attack anyway.
Part 4.. is easily the weakest of the five. It feels like the story only got a part 4 because they needed 5 episodes and you probably coudl've condensed the events of episodes 3 and 4 into one. It's mostly just things we've seen before, the biggest being Tommy attacking the command center AGAIN… instead of you know just letting them have zordon back already given it's been three episodes and they've been working to do so the whole time. It does give Alpha a nice big moment as he imbolizes tommy in a forecfield and while Tommy doe shis best to taunt the android, Alpha just tries to unmask him and only fails because Rita pulls him out.. and even then STILL succeeds because he succesfully bioscanned him. It is troubling Zordon has bio scans of every single person in angle grove and I have a LOT of followup questions as to why, but for now this troubling development means our hereos can find out the obvious.
It's not without good moments though. While Part 4 is weak, being mostly some wheel spinning it has a few standout moments that keep it from dragging everything down: Just because nothing happens for MOST Of it, to the point that again ther'es not much to say dosen't mean what there is to talk about isn't good: We get a LOT of quality bulk and skull as they break from just "hit on kimberly get shot down" for the 80th time to instead get into the wacky shenanigans I love them for.
For starters Bulk, despite the juice bar COMMING DOWN AROUND HIM , refuses to let Skull leave until he's finished with his ice cream.. then when a massive beam comes inches from killing him and his hetro lifemate, gulps it down. He also has the smart idea of taking the bus outside the youth center that Ernie leaves the keys in just for situations like this. He may of lost 80 busses this way but dammit you have to admire his warm spirit wanting teens to flee.
Being Bulk and Skull this naturally gets them caputred and suspended over a cliff as bait because Goldar thinks their the rangers friends
But their still civlians so they still work to save them, while Bulk and skull get a LOT of good jokes in the process, from the two planning to flee the buss only to see it surrounded by putties, to Bulk calling for his mommmy and Skull also calling for his mommy because he's into milf, cumilating in Bulk wondering if their dreaming when their finally safe only for Skull to pinch him, Bulk to naturally get pissed.. then the two to bro hug as you'd expect when he realizes it does mean their alive. I can't help but love these two and wish they got more to do in this 5 parter, but what we get here is fantasic.
The other scene to note is after a good chunk of just.. dicking around, we get the fight, where the rangers have to fight both Scorpina , in game face, and Goldar. It's an awesome fight, helped by the spell meaning our heroes are slowly loosing powers, and is both creative and tense. What follows is also brutal as it is rediculously awesome: tommy grande sizes himself, beats up the zord and PLUNGES IT INTO A VOLCANO. Which angel grove has because stock footage makes it so! So we get horrific shots of the various zords plunged into lava as our heroes look on in horror. its impressivly creepy for a cheesy 90's live action kids show and ends the part on a real downer: our heroes are ready to give up, their out of options.. and then theyf ind out Tommy is the Green ranger.
We begin the end on what I realized as I wrote this was the heart of the arc: Jason. While he's your standard good guy hero type… we see thorugh the arc something beyond that; his determination. He never gives up neve rbacks down, wether it's being sent to dormmamu's summer guest house, or seeing it wrecked> He's bummed, of course, but he dosen't stop. YOu can call jason kinda flat, and very stupid, but you can't knock the kid for the fact he keeps going no matter how dark it is. It provides a nice counter to brainwashed tommy: With him we see all the determination jason has funneled in the wrong direction, waht someone that noble and detemrined would do if turned to the dark side.
It's why Jason has such a strong drive to free tommy and why the climax works so well: Jason clearly sees what coul'dve easily happened to him had the places been switched and he been the cool new kid, and while he couldn't convience his friends not to back down before, he begs them not to give up on Tommy and to save him. That an innocent, kind, rigtheous dude dosen't deserve this. It's ultimately that drive, that hope that wins against the forces of evil: Jason dosen't give up.. and in doing so Alpha dosen't, which frees zordon and gets them the zords back, leading to an epic fight between two childhood faviorites: the mega zord and the dragon zord, newly dreged from the ocean. It's a triumphant battle: after all our heroes have been through, one of them never getting up finally gets them a win.
And in the end… the finale is what it should be: Jason Vs Tommy. It's a match that had been expertly set up all 5 parter: we started with the two fighting evenly with no claer winner, and have seen all arc that NO ONE ELSE can match him. But it's here we finally get the rematch that the entire story is built on: the strongest rangers head to head, winner take all. Granted how Jason ends up destroying the sword of darkness is hilarous .. he just… laser guns it
But the fight can't be overstated… and the cathariss at seeing tommy free at last is oh so satisfying… and what comes next is predictable: JAson warmly welcoms Tommy into the rangers despite his doubts, citing not only all he's done wasn't his fault.. but this is what meant to be. It's why the early moments with tommy were important: we saw he had the makings of a ranter.. and now he really gets to be one. Everyone welcomes him and welcomes a new era while Rita naturally isn't happy. We also show off the dragon megazord because why not and we end on Zordon welcoming tommy in. It's a wonderful warm ending and a satsifying wrap up.
Green With Evil… is good fun and a well crafted story. It has some goofy bits and the ocasoinal bit of padding, but the core of it is strong and it's easy to see why most six ranger stories after this take some inspriation: it's a triumphant tale of good vs evil, of the triumph of the human spirit and of mesh shirts, bus shsenanigans, dark dimensions and heroes. It's well worth a look and really shows off just how from day one jason david frank was invulsable to the franchise and really bhrought it to the next level. It's all free on youtube, so go watch it if you haven't, or even if you have like I did, thanks for reading.. and may the power protect you.

The weak point smash attacks in Age of Calamity are cool enough, but I wish the camera didn't lock the way it does during the animation, because it means we miss seeing details like this:
The Blademasters wave to Kohga after they toss him, which you don't see unless the camera gets stuck at a different angle. Like, that's a fun detail! Why would you hide it where we can't see it?

Good news! I'm slowly becoming a fan of the Metroid series. This started shortly after I was exposed to the idea that Samus and Pikachu are pals ever since she rescued him in Smash Bros Brawl in the Subspace Emissary story. Which I know isn't part of the Metroid lore, obviously, but it did make me appreciate Samus as a character.
She is an ice-cold, unflinching badass in her games (which I need to finish playing still, so no spoilers) and relies on no one but herself. That said, I love the idea that she has a soft spot for this fuzzy yellow critter with the world's worse case of static. She saw he was in trouble, broke him out with no hesitation because it was the right thing to do and now they're inseparable.
And I know that has nothing to do with Metroid proper, but like I said, it makes me appreciate Samus that much more. That's the power of fanfic, baby.

Perhaps a spicy take:
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity did more to make Hyrule feel like a populated, living world to me than many of the mainline games.
I'm serious. This version of Hyrule feels like it's full of people, and as you play, you really get a sense that you're helping them out. See, to earn things like health bonuses and attack combos, you have to complete these little text-only quests. On every level where you actually fight enemies, you earn materials, and different quests require specific materials for completion. And all these quests have a little blurb about a task that needs to be done that requires the materials you provide. When you complete the quest, there's another blurb talking about how you helped the people out.

Random BOTW headcanon:
Master Kohga faked his death in his fight with Link so he could go back to his nap.
He's not incompetent by any means and is in fact a skilled and powerful warrior. The fight was a sham to get the Thunder Helm out of the hideout so the Gerudo would stop raiding it. His lackeys stole it because it's treasure, but he obviously couldn't just say, "Take it back, you're making it worse around here." After his 'defeat', the rest of the Yiga played along, accusing Link of murder and making their attacks more personal.
In conclusion, Master Kohga is actually very intelligent and despite being the leader of a cult of personality, he watches out for the clan and acts in their best interest at all times.

Got cool stickers? Do you get anxious about trying to decide where to stick them? Do they just live on the sticker sheets forever, gathering shameful dust in your drawer?
THERE IS HOPE! I saw this on Reddit.
What you need are magnetic sheets.

"Wild Access!" - When a badass power ranger actor recognises you're ready to be a ranger yourself 😎 💛 I honestly can't believe yesterday happened, I met and got to chat to @alysonkipermansullivan, aka Taylor Earhardt, yellow wild force ranger, who's probably one of the nicest power ranger actors I've met, it was honestly so cool that she came to do a meet and greet, even cooler that she has family in Ireland, but yeah she chatted everyone equally and told us some cool things about her series and her time as a ranger, even better she complimented me on my morph pose, shoes and on the fact I wore yellow and I wouldn't have changed that for the world and as I told her, to this day, she's still a badass! (Go to the last video when she called my pose excellent, best moment ever) 💛 Thanks to the amazing @heroescafedublin for hosting it too! 💛 💛 #heroescafe #heroescafedublin #alysonkiperman #alysonkipermansullivan #taylorearhardt #yelloweagleranger #yellowwildforceranger #yellowranger #yellowpowerranger #powerrangers #powerangerswildforce #wildforce #wildaccess #wildzordsdescend #oncearangeralwaysaranger #meetandgreet (at Capel Street) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmUPc7yNwY5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Episode ten
Now we're clearly getting backstory. Because this is an alternative timeline where Madoka and Future Lover meet for the first time, but their situations are completely reversed.
So Madoka dies against the bad witch, and Homura makes a wish to be able to be strong enough to help her. Which is how she gets the power to control time.
And we repeat the cycle, only this time Madoka becomes a witch.
So we repeat the cycle, and Homura gets more badass. But when Yellow Ranger realizes MG's become witches, she kills Red Ranger, and Madoka kills her. And that breaks Madoka's heart, and when they're both dying, Madoka asks Homura to promise to go back in time and save her. And Homura swears.
So the cycle repeats. And Homura keeps trying.
Oh... And now we finally get to the opening scene.
So my kids demanded I watch Madoka Magica. And, because I love my children, I have been. But I'm also dming them about every episode because if I'm watching this they're coming along on the ride with me. So, uh... Spoiler warning, if you haven't seen the 12 year old anime.

Timeforce was chosen by my wheel of Power rangers. One of my favorite seasons actually, but doesn’t necessarily mean I’m gonna have nostalgia glasses about these mechs.
(Also jesus this season TESTED me for finding pictures that weren’t 96p quality. Like lightspeed and wildforce were rough but damn my dudes)
Timeforce Megazord: Mode Red 4/10
So the main megazord has two modes so I’m gonna rate em separately cause they’re distinct enough. This one is ok, like I’m not angry with it but I also don’t know that I’m a fan? Going through all these ratings I’ve realized how picky I am about the helmets and this guy doesn’t fall into a good spot for me. It’s so WIDE, I understand the idea and I like the concept but in terms of improving it I wouldn’t know where to start. I do like that its supposed to be a knight with the shield and stuff, which matches the battelizer Wes gets but I can tell the idea of “futuristic megazord” and knight really clashed.
Mode Blue 6/10
Ok Ik what your thinking but I have my reasons on this guy. The helmet is definitely out there but imo the shoulders and the way the torso shapes up into the head makes it feel like they committed to the design a little more. Ik in the sentai series this one gets a bit more screen time but like the American show should’ve used more footage of this guy cause it’s the better half for me. Also I like that the ship the rangers use to board has a purpose outside of just being an elevator.
Time Shadow 9/10
(This thing took forever to find even a remotely decent picture cause they like AVOID showing a full body shot at all times cause its supposed to be mysterious but like BRUH i wanna see the cool zord! PLEASE!)
This things pretty badass and the developers clearly knew they popped off on it cause they make this thing so cool in the show. The hand blades are super unique and the overall shape of the zord as a whole is very reminiscent of it’s jet form it takes to make the time jump which I really like. Also everythings sharp in like the perfect place, and they left the legs simple (but not boring) because they knew the blades and the helmet were the stars. Design wise this thing just slaps and I’m actually bumping my rating up to 9 now cause I talked myself into it.
Q-rex Megazord 4/10
Ik I’m gonna get some kinda hate from the Quantum ranger fans but this thing is kinda a mess 😅 (yes ik its not a good picture! The other pic I found looked like someone took it underwater through a window screen 😑) The shoulders are really round while the chest and helmet wanna be sharp af. The feet are Q-rex feet but like they look super out of place compared to the armored torso this thing has. Also red/green/yellow is a BOLD color theme for a ranger whose suit is red and black. Funny thing is I actually don’t mind the helmet on this guy but the face looks so fucked up to me 😅 He looks like a middle schooler who’s taking a picture and his mom told him to smile with his teeth 😤
Transwarp Megazord 9/10
This is the one megazord I admit to having a ton of nostalgia for, this mf looks SO GOOD. The episode where this thing fights had me POPPING OFF. The flip down visor, the cool extender arms that look like huge boxing gloves, the super like chunky armored look it has is just 😤 its so good. No one can change my mind on this one and I honestly debated giving it a 10 but I don’t think its perfect just cause the legs feel a little weird and I think thats mostly cause the designers figured they wouldn’t get seen as often cause they’re mostly behind future buildings.
#transwarp megazord says trans rights#this season slaps btw#time force#power rangers time force#timeforce megazord#autism#special interest#infodump#infodumping#megazord ratings

AGURA AGURA AGURA
first of all, TWO people submitted this one and y'all are my FAVORITES, anons. sorry that anon asks weren't on before and sorry that I'm about to clog your feed with this long-ass post about one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. saddle up.
favorite thing about them um, everything but I will bucket it out -feminist icon: Agura's character is entirely her own and doesn’t exist to be a romantic interest to someone else on the team and this is so important. she's strong, she's a badass, and most importantly, she's second-in-command in a very male-focused show. she's an equal to them but she doesn't let them strip her of her femininity; she calls Vert out when he refers to her as one of the boys. And this isn’t Power Rangers feminism either; her color is not pink or yellow, her Shocksuit isn’t sexualized or revealing, and she actually has the highest neckline of anyone on the show. (Zoom you’re showing some serious skin there bb.) Like, could and should this show have absolutely featured more female characters, YES, but they did a very good job with her -supportive AF/team mom: Agura looks out for everyone and I do mean everyone. Stanford's having an off day? She's there to tell him to take a deep breath. Zoom is trying to be a hotshot and imitate his big brother Vert? She's already on top of it and is making sure Vert dials it down. Sherman lost Spinner to Zemerik? Sure, she'll help him repair the Buster AND comfort him even after he snaps at her because she knows he's hurting. Vert is stuck in A) a Sark trash compactor B) the Vandal homeworld C) a giant fish or D) generally over his head? Agura's there to A) get him out B) get him out C) get him out and D) tell him to get TF out of there because as much as he wants to, he can't handle it on his own. She just has everyone's back and knows them all so well and what triggers to watch out for/how to take care of them. one of her most common lines in the series is definitely just "Vert!" in a panicked tone because good lord this white boy cannot keep himself out of trouble so thank goodness she's there to keep an eye on him -independent AF: Do not call this woman helpless because she will unleash all hellfire down on you. Agura does not want your help, has never wanted your help, and will never want your help. she is the furthest thing from a damsel in distress but she's still very much here for teamwork where everyone is equals and it’s *chef’s kiss* -physically strong: they made Agura physically strong and this is so important!!! like, this woman climbs up 30 feet of rope, in the freezing cold, completely on her own. she rips the head off a Sark robot THE FIRST TIME WE MEET HER. she fights Kyburi and Grimian hand-to-hand and WINS, baby. I love so much that they made her athletic and even though she might not have brute power like Sherman, her fighting style is so unique and I will forever appreciate that they took the time to animate the sickest flips and twists for her. like, play to your strengths babygirl. would love to see her and Zoom spar because I truly believe they would tie -a real and flawed person: we get to see Agura struggle with anxiety and control issues! yes it's a little episodic but that comes with the territory. like, yes there’s only one female character on a team of eight but i truly believe they did Agura solid justice except for the part where she doesn’t get to kiss Vert, more on that later -her car is actually the coolest? like, I’m obviously biased but at first glance I think the Tangler is by far the most unique of all the BF5 vehicles and they gave it to her thank you
least favorite thing about them agura ibaden has done nothing wrong. send tweet if I must, I think her heritage could have been explored a little more. one throwaway line about African tracking skills?? c'mon Mattel, you did not canonically make this woman an African princess to not use it
favorite line Spinner: "I haven't gotten my tetanus shot. What if I get lockjaw and can't talk?" Agura: "We'll throw a party." someone call an ambulance for Spinner because he is DECEASED after this burn Stanford: "That is noise. The Reverb is a precision sonic assault weapon." Agura: "Much like your mouth." Spinner might be known as the comedian on the team but Agura will roast you alive and feast on your bones also, this isn’t a line, but when she hits Vert in the head with a wrench when he’s trying to cure her hiccups, that is peak Agura. Like, he’s just trying to do a nice thing for her and she goes into Attack Mode and follows protocol. these two need to kiss
brOTP -Stanford/Agura (copied from my ask meme on Stanford): Stanford and Agura are actually best friends. Like, yes they got off to a rocky start but they’ve overcome their differences and just accept the other person for who they are. Agura can be vulnerable with Stanford in a way that she can’t be with Vert because she feels like she has to be his strong and capable second-in-command, so Stanford is the one that she goes to when she needs advice or feels emotional about something. Once they get past the first five minutes of making fun of each other, they have really serious and helpful deep talks and give each other great advice. Their relationship started with hating each other and each thinking the worst of the other person, so now that they’ve gained respect for one another it’s really easy to be vulnerable and return to that place where you’re not posturing or trying to appear perfect, because they know there was a point in their relationship where they each thought so little of each other. so like, TL;DR, they started from the bottom and now they’re here. 11/10 would be wingpeople for each other at a bar and have wine nights or drink tea together also Agura relentlessly roasts Stanford with colonization jokes. like she brings it up every chance she gets just to watch him squirm and he is SORRY -Agura/Cortez bros: The Cortez brothers remind Agura of her five brothers back home so they’re usually her first choice if she’s looking for someone to hang out with. she has a different bond with each of them and hangs out with Sherman individually more than she hangs out with Spinner individually. she’s the one member of the team besides Tezz who will ask Sherman what he’s working on and actually try to listen and keep up -Agura/AJ: this section is brought to you by unexpected brOTPs. these two both have so much love for Vert and for the outdoors/extreme sports (AJ more so but they both love off-roading). Their temperature preferences are obviously very different but if Agura wanted to do a Tough Mudder or ATV race you know AJ would be the first one out there. like, they got their cute lil webisode together and I think they just have a solid fuck-around-and-find-out vibe. also, they tag-team Vert’s trauma around Jack like nobody’s business. when they all get home after “Legacy” you KNOW AJ and Agura deadass looked at each other and said “ok, who’s taking this one?” I think AJ would be super happy for Vert when he and Agura finally do get together (yeah, if you’re sensing a theme here, it’s right below this), like, his best friend has found someone who’s going to support him and love him the most and defend him with her dying breath and she’s also a badass ATV driver and AJ is here for it and WILL be the best man no questions asked
OTP y'all, you know it's Vergura and you can read more about that in Vert’s ask meme but I’ll add on here and put the repeated paragraphs in italics! Agura definitely had Vert pegged as a little bit of a himbo when they first met. like, this guy just shows up and asks her to fight aliens even though he's been doing it for exactly one day?? okaaaay. then he can't control the team, he has exactly one battle plan drawn up for them so far... she’s just like, this is the guy that the alien lady chose to hold the fate of the Earth in his hands??? let’s see how long this lasts. but as time goes on she sees how brave he is and how much he cares and what a great leader he makes and they gain each other's mutual respect of the highest regard and well folks the rest is history I think they balance each other super well: he can be impulsive and rash and she definitely helps rein that in; whereas she can get anxious and overthink things and Vert is there to smile and tell her it’s all gonna be OK. you know that Agura is dragging Vert to the medbay after every single mission because, see above, he’s driving his car into something, and you also know that Vert is dragging her to Zeke’s for pizza after their missions instead of going back to the Hub to do a mission report and get takeout. Agura worries constantly about Vert; she worries constantly in general but this man literally raises her blood pressure. she trusts him so much and believes in him 100% but also for the love of god could you stop throwing yourself in harm’s way every five seconds, Vert, do you have a death wish?? like her relationship with him is “if doing that dumb thing doesn’t kill you, i definitely will!” but in a ~loving~ way. Her “Vert! what are you doing?” hiss when he drives straight toward that fish in “Battleship 5″ is iconic I think these two just work together so well and spend time together/seek each other out constantly and when the war is finally over they’re able to lift their heads out of the fray a little bit and be like “oh shit about that deep friendship we had, I’m actually super in love with you and depend on having you in my daily life” Vert and Agura can read each other like books by the end of season one. Near the end of Legacy, when he looks at her and just immediately asks “What’s wrong?”, after we’ve received no dialogue from Agura and the only camera angle is her back, like that’s the shit that I live for also, I headcannon that before anything romantic happens between them, they’ll sleep in each other’s rooms when they know the other person is having a rough night. like, Vert will take the couch or if they’re really tired they’ll just get in bed together and not snuggle or anything but just be there for each other and drift off to sleep because the other person is there and breathing these two are the slow-burn friends-to-lovers dreamboat and I will ship them until I die, why yes my favorite BF5 scene of all time is when he puts his arm around her at the end of Grimian’s Secret, thank you for asking
nOTP -Agura/Stanford. See above, I just see them so platonically -Agura/Spinner. Can’t see it, these two are exclusively bros
random headcanon again, I gotta bucket these out because I have a million-skies -Agura works out a lot; it helps her with anxiety and she’s also just super physically fit and it’s important to her to maintain that. her teammates know that if she’s not in the common room or working on the Tangler, they should look for her in the gym. she and Sherman and Zoom are gym buddies and sometimes they’ll work out together; she and Zoom can spot for each other but they both have to collectively spot Sherman together -Agura does not get along well with her parents, repeat, does not. she loves her siblings but her mother is very traditional/royal and expects her to act like a princess and Agura is just not having it. lowkey, kind of ran away from home and does not want to deal with going back. shameless plug: you can read more about this in my fic Arranged! she has a line in “Artifical Intelligence” where Vert is talking about how the government can’t find out about their work and Agura says “knowing them, they’ll just mess everything up” and IMHO she is directly talking about her parents -P.S. based on her name alone I headcannon that Agura & her family are from Nigeria which is not a monarchy but for the sake of headcannon it is now -in addition to her five brothers, Agura has an older sister named Halla who is her polar opposite, like, very girly, outgoing, hip and stylish, always trying to give Agura makeovers. they’re super different but they adore each other, and she’s the sibling Agura stays in touch with the most when she’s in America -Agura doesn't tell her teammates that she's royalty; she doesn't want them to know or see her differently, especially after learning Stanford is royalty -Her personality is absolutely true and completely her own but at the beginning it was also slightly cultivated/emphasized since she's on a team full of guys. like, you know Agura took one look around the room when they first got together and very consciously decided that she would NOT be treated as the only girl™. so she burps and laughs at gross jokes and makes herself tough as nails because she knows how the world works for Black women and she intends to be their equal. it's not so much a put-on personality as it is her own personality but emphasized and distilled. this semi-act has relaxed a lot since they've become a team and learned to trust each other and found their places, but when she first started, this woman was not taking any pay cuts or BS feminine treatment. she is getting paid $1 for every one of your dollars, sirs. -her teammates secretly call her mom behind her back. she knows this and secretly loves it -everyone is way more scared of Agura than they are of Vert. Like, pissing Vert off is not fun but pissing off Agura is downright scary. Vert knows this and secretly loves that she’s the stricter one because it gives him the opportunity to take off the leadership cloak now and then and mess around with the guys... Agura also knows this about Vert and wants to let him be fun dad every once in a while and that’s part of why she does it... but mostly she loves knowing they’re all a little scared of her
unpopular opinion none, all of these are correct™. just kidding. um, I don’t ship Stangura which I think qualifies as unpopular
song i associate with them Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce because *obviously* Man Can’t Hang by Berry Galazka ft. GIRLI &Suzi Wu. Agura loves her guys but this woman is a girl gang of one
favorite picture of them
oh baby, there are so many good pictures and looks exchanged between her and Vert to choose from, but this is my all-time fave because this. fight. SLAPPED. Our girl got to SHINE in this episode and I was so here for it. she beats Kyburi without breaking a sweat AND works out a plan to save the Magmatrox, all over the course of approx. three minutes? our queen.
thank you for coming to my ted talk, I will love this woman until the end of time

This is your suit inverted. I really like the Turquoise kinda colour alot on it. But maybe I'm biased because Yellow, Purple and Turquoise are my favourite colours.
WOAH!!! That looks so cool!!
Like…like….I look like one of those special kinds of Power Rangers that join the team in the middle of the season!
That would be badass!

My Redesigns of The Specialists
Well, since I finished with the Winx Club girls and The Trix, I figured it was time to do my redesigns of The Specialists. However, not all of them are going to be just powerless fighters. I felt it would be more fun to make their team be made up of fighters, fairies, and sorcerers. Plus, they get to have their own transformations too. The fighters get transformations similar to the Power Rangers/superheroes (Because it makes no sense for there to be an emergency and they just rush off to change clothes, which is an INSANELY dangerous time waster), the fairies will have transformations similar to the Winx Club themselves, and the sorcerers will have transformations similar to the ones from Miraculous Ladybug (Honestly, I don't know what to think for the sorcerers). Why? Because it's so much more fun that way.
Sky
Well, I got the most BORING of the boys out of the way, so that's something. For his design I used Eric's body from The Little Mermaid, the face of Derek from The Swan Princess (Or at least from a specific poster), used his second hairstyle from the show because it suits him better and look less like a surfer dude, and I used the uniforms The Specialists get in the later seasons because it's BADASS. Plus, considering that Eraklyon is related to geology, it makes sense to have some armor that looks like stones. I did change the shade of blue to match his signature color, which is sky blue (I mean, it's in his name). He is the prince of Eraklyon and the son of a sorcerer and a fairy, but they still loved him despite that he had no magic. However, that made them even more protective of him since he was a child and there was a threat of him being kidnapped and held for ransom by Yoshinoya. So Sky's best friend/squire, Brandon (Who is a fairy and has magic to protect himself and Sky) was to switch places with Sky for public appearances and in school, so that no one would know who Sky really is. The only ones who knew the truth were the royal family, the castle staff, members of the royal court, and Diaspro & her parents (Who Sky was betrothed to since they were babies). Despite having no powers, Sky refused to be helpless and studied fighting hand-to-hand combat and weaponry. Sky is a boring character but could be good if put in the right hands. Give him flaws, have him held more accountable for his actions, none of the bullshit conflict that happens with him and Bloom from seasons 4-8.
Brandon
For his design, I used the face of Edward from Enchanted, the nose of Rameses from The Prince of Egypt, the eyes of Joseph from Joseph: King of Dreams, and the body of Bolin from The Legend of Korra. I've always questioned what race Brandon was supposed to be coded as because he seemed pretty ambiguous. Was he just white but with a tan? Was he Middle Eastern? Was he Filipino? Was he Hispanic or Latino? I saw someone say he was Middle Eastern and pointed out some areas in the Middle East where they have lighter tan complexions, dark brown hair, and similar features to him. So I thought for some representation, I would go with the Middle Eastern coded option. I made him a little darker than he was in the original show by giving him Flora's skin color from the original show (Since I gave her a darker skin-tone in my redesign of her), sharper eyes, and more Middle Eastern looking nose. I didn't want to use Aladdin's nose because the noses of Aladdin and Jasmine were a little too exaggerated the same way that the noses in Lilo and Stitch were too exaggerated (Polynesians don't have potato noses). I also wanted to show some body diversity by giving him a plus-sized body. NO, Bolin's body isn't fat but it's very much plus-sized. Brandon was a fat little boy growing up because he was just built differently. However, as he got older and started training, he bulked up. He's still plus-sized but is also muscular. You're probably wondering why I decided to make Brandon a fairy. I don't know but it just works. He is the fairy of geodes! I got that idea from Diaspro's fairy form and powers. They come from Eraklyon, so the magic in that world must be related to geology. So he's basically an Earthbender lol. But his powers are rooted on rocks, stones, gems, ect. so it's no wonder his body is so solid like a rock. I also modeled his wings after Diaspro's, which I noticed are solid instead of transparent like other fairy wings. I figured that must be part of the geology themed powers. As for his costume, I based it on one of the background fairies that were seen during the destruction of Bloom's home planet, Sparx. It just looked like it suited him. He and Sky have been friends since they were little and he is Sky's squire. He's the son of one of the palace guards. Since Sky was in danger of being abducted since he was a little kid, Brandon was made to pretend he was the prince for Sky's protection. Brandon's parents were dead against it, but the king demanded it. However, it was ultimately Brandon who decided to do it, even if his parents disapproved of putting their son in danger. You may ask, how would people believe that two white parents had a brown son? No idea! I guess they just said he was naturally tan lol.
Riven
For Riven's design, I gave him the face/head of Proteus from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, the body of Shang from Mulan, and the eyes of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. For his outfit, I didn't want to just give him the same outfit as Sky but with a different color because I wanted more individuality. So I gave him the outfits that were worn by Nex and Thoren (Sky's cousin). They looked less heroic and epic as the outfit I gave Sky, which suits Riven's more roughish nature and how he hasn't had an easy life compared to Sky (More on that later). It also has a bit of a low-key bad boy vibe to it. I still stayed true to his signature color, magenta, while making sure it didn't clash with his magenta hair, and giving him some purple to match his eyes. And I just had to give him an angry look on his face because it's Riven, so of course. Riven is my absolute LEAST favorite of the specialists. Sky may be boring as hell but Riven is ANNOYING as hell. He's poorly written, has terrible development, is always an asshole for no reason, has no backstory to justify the way he is, doesn't really change, and his relationship with Musa is absolutely toxic. In my version, I give him a backstory and better character development. His backstory is that he was born to a father that was a sorcerer and a mother that was a fairy while he was born without the ability to perform magic, which was a MASSIVE disappointment to his parents. They neglected him, emotionally abused him, and on occasion physically. This makes his actions and attitude all the more understandable. He's a show off because of how he never really got attention growing up from his own parents and is trying to make up for it, as well as prove that he is capable of great things and isn't useless just because he doesn't have powers. He's angry and a hothead but has more of a secret gentle side that he sometimes shows, MUCH MORE than the original Riven, which helps make it more understandable why Musa would have a crush on him. His emotional baggage also made it easier for Darcy to manipulate him, even giving him some magic (But takes it away when she dumps him). His backstory also gives him a reason for why he lashes out at his fellow teammates. In my version, Brandon is a fairy and Timmy is a sorcerer, so they can perform magic while he can't. He especially resents Sky because of how he was also born with parents that could perform magic while he couldn't but was still given love and attention despite this. It made him VERY angry and jealous because of how Sky manage to have parents that adore him, despite being born unable to do magic, while Riven had neglectful and abusive parents because of his inability to perform magic.
Timmy
For his face/head I used some old concept design of Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire and the smile, eyes, and body of Aladdin. I went with Aladdin's body because of how Timmy wouldn't be as masculine as the others but wouldn't be lanky. Aladdin has some muscles on him but he's not super built. I also gave him freckles because it's just too perfect for him. His outfit was tricky because of how I had to find a way of making him look like a sorcerer but also incorporate it with technology to go with his powers because of how he is the Sorcerer of Technology. For his scepter, I went with Tecna's Mythix wand, with some adjustments. Redheads look surprisingly really good in the color yellow. I decided to make Timmy a sorcerer because of how I feel it suits his personality. He's not as action-oriented as the other guys but more intellectual, even though he still fights. Imagine how amazing he'd be with technology with magic. He'd excel! No, I don't have him being from Zenith like Tecna but from another technology planet, though one that isn't considered as high up as Zenith. So this makes him feel a little intimidated by Tecna, that and him having a MASSIVE crush on her. He always is trying to prove that he is capable and isn't just some weak nerd. Out of all of the specialists, he's one of my favorite, if not my number one favorite. He's just absolutely awesome with how much of a dork he is.
Helia
Helia was the one that I was looking the most forward to doing a redesign of because of how I made him a fairy. Out of all of the Specialists, he's the one that really benefits the best from being made a fairy, especially when I got to his Believix and Enchantix. He has more of a feminine personality while still proving he isn't a wuss but rather a badass, despite being a pacifist. This gives him layers and depth beyond just being a typical good looking hero. Plus, his hair is just AMAZING! I used the body of Mako from The Legend of Korra, the eyes and nose of Shang from Mulan, and the head/face of Little Creek from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. I also gave him Brandon's skin tone to make him look more brown instead of just a light Asian. His outfit is very feminine but also clearly meant for a man because of how it's kind of toga looking. But I did his toga in a way that looks more Asian inspired instead of Greek inspired. Plus, this look suits his chill and relaxed personality. I made his outfit salmon pink with some orange because those colors just look so good on him and just suit his character. I made him the fairy of art, the same way that Musa is the fairy of music. So he can make art literally come to life, turn things like paint into ropes, can control paper (Particularly when in an origami shape), create portals, can jump into paintings to hide, and you get the point. Basically, his powers are awesome!
Nabu
And now we've come to my favorite of The Specialists, Prince Nabu. First of all, I want to make VERY CLEAR that in my version, Nabu DOESN'T die! That was a bunch of BULL CRAP! I mean, he's introduced in season 3 and then close to the end of season 4 they kill him off? Not to mention that out of all the boys, they chose the darkest one, who was also the love interest of black woman! She ended up having to suffer more than any of the other girls because of this. Not to mention that in season 5 they tried to replace him with a brown (But much lighter) man with terrible blonde hair and a terribly bland and boring personality to match, Roy. Then when that didn't work, they did a dumb love triangle in season 6 where the white man that has a personality mixture of Riven and Brandon, Nex. Yeah, all of this is TOTALLY not racist! And that's coming from a white man. Also, I wanna also point out that Nabu is NOT black! He is Indian, so he is coded as South Asian. Now that we got my rant out of the way, for his design I used the face/head of Naveen from The Princess and the Frog, the body of Flynn Rider from Tangled (I wanted to use Naveen but there wasn't a base of him to use or a tasteful nude picture of him), and the eyes of Esmeralda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I also chose to keep his super long single braid instead of the two shoulder blade length braids he had in season 4. Why? Because it just looks SO MUCH better and is more badass. Non-white men just look amazing with long hair. He is still a prince but he doesn't come from Layla's planet, Andros. Why? Because that planet is water themed and his powers aren't related to water. His powers are illusions and healing, so it only makes sense that he comes from another planet, especially when the rules of Andros are black while Nabu and his family are Indian. He and Layla are in an arranged marriage, which she refuses and their relationship still goes the same way it did in season 3. Except, I'm having them meet during my Sirenix story line because that season would be about Layla, due to it being water themed. He still went by a disguised name, Ophir before revealing his true identity once they fell in love. So I'm giving true respect to the Sorcerer of Healing and Illusions.
And now for Brandon and Helia's Believix!
Just like the girls, Brandon and Helia are getting Believix and Enchantix forms. For the Believix forms I took inspiration from @teawithlemonacid, who did some fanart of The Specialists as fairies. I did make some adjustments of my own but still did take inspiration from that artist, so credit where credit is due. As I said when I did the girls with their Believix, the way they earn their Believix is pretty much the same way they earned their Charmix in season 2. They have to believe in themselves and overcome a personal struggle. I also took liberties with the Believix aesthetic because of how I want the fairy looks to be more timeless rather than dated-looking.
Brandon's Believix
For Brandon's design, I gave him a new hairstyle because if the girls get new hairstyles for each new fairy form, so do the boys. I gave him Nex's hair, apart from those dumb looking sideburns. I embroidered some stoned onto his outfit because of how he's the fairy of geodes. Since I also decided to have his race be Middle Eastern, I decided to incorporate some of that into his look as well. I gave him some curled toed shoes and some Middle Eastern inspired accessories. That was hard because of how most Middle Eastern jewelry are women's jewelry. I gave him Tecna's Mythix wings because they just really suit him for some reason. As for how he earned his Believix, well he had to overcome some hidden resentment he had for Sky that was starting to show during a trust exercise. He resented that he had to put his life on the line for Sky ever since they were kids. That really effects a child when they are having their lives in danger in order to protect someone else. Yes, Brandon did agree to do it in order to protect his friend but he also knew that if he didn't do it that he and his parents would be in trouble with the King and Queen. Sky's parents didn't really show much concern for Brandon's safety and that caused more resentment because Sky didn't really say anything to his parents about their poor treatment of his friend. Sky could tell something was up and it was only when Brandon stopped bottling up his feelings that things started to get better. It was emotional and difficult but Brandon felt better when he finally let it all out. It was then that he earned his Believix.
Helia's Enchantix
homeworldHelia's Believix was A LOT of fun to do. I loved getting to have his hair loose because it looks amazing. I didn't make too many changes to the outfit I modeled this after. I love how the gold has a paint-like feel to it. It really adds to his powers being art based. I used Flora's prototype Bloomix wings for his Believix wings because they just seemed to suit him. I also had the magic coming from his hand looking even bigger and more powerful than it was during his Magic Winx form. The way he earns his Believix was different from how others earned their Believix. instead of mainly being an emotional struggle, it was also a physical struggle because he had to overcome his passive nature. He has a lot of power but he holds himself back because of an accident that happened when he was a kid. Because he didn't restrain himself, a friend of his got badly hurt. The friend lived but his parents wouldn't allow him to be friends with Helia anymore. After that, Helia kept to himself, chose not to be aggressive, and wouldn't live up to his true abilities because of that accident. His grandfather, Saladin (The headmaster at Red Fountain), has been trying to break him out of it and live up to his true potential. It was only when his friends, specifically Flora, were in danger that he finally overcame his passive nature and started using his full power. This caused him to earn his Believix.
And finally for Helia and Brandon's Enchantix
We have come to Helia and Brandon's final transformations, Enchantix. Just like the girls, they must earn theirs by saving someone from their homeworld by making a big sacrifice. The boys were hard to do, due to how there wasn't really anything for me to go off of. However, I think I managed to do a pretty good job. I also wanted to have them be in revealing outfits just like the girls. I mean, fair is fair, after all. Let me know what you think.
Helia's Enchantix
For Helia, I wanted to do something that had an Asian influence to it that also showed his art powers being influenced. I gave him something that was very flowing to go with his sensitive and feminine personality while also having a rainbow theme to go with his powers. I didn't use the colors of the rainbow because I didn't want him to just look like a Pride themed look, which ended up looking awkward and busy when I first attempted it. So I limited the colors to the ones in his wings to make it look better. I still wanted to include his two main colors, salmon pink and gold while still making the rainbow colors pop. I went with a very Asian inspired hairstyle, which actually shows both of his eyes. The eye that is usually covered is actually blind, which goes with the childhood backstory I gave him that helped him earn his Believix, which will also play a part in earning his Enchantix, which I will get to in a little bit. I felt it would show him embracing himself while also showing the Asian culture. I took some liberties with the jewelry because of how most jewelry is meant for women, which is why most male looks are boring. I tried to butch up his shoes to make them look less girly and making the gems resemble a paintbrush. For his wings, I used Stella's Mythix wings because they look like a rainbow, which really suits Helia. I made his powers in his hand the biggest and strongest they've looked out of all his fairy forms. As for how he earns his Enchantix, I had him save his old childhood friend, who Helia had accidentally caused to become permanently blind because of his powers, which also caused Helia to become blind in his right eye. He had seen him but was avoiding him because of his guilt, despite his old friend trying to reach out to him during this time. He saves his old friend from an avalanche that was caused by The Trix, specifically Stormy. Helia not only almost died but his wings were crushed, so he wouldn't be able to fly. He said that he lost his friend once because of something he did and wasn't going to lose his friend again when he could do something about it. However, it was due to this sacrifice that he was able to earn his Enchantix and gain a new and MUCH stronger pair of wings. Not only that, but he had his old friend back after all this time. Helia apologized for what he did to his friend when they were kids, but his friend forgave him and said he missed Helia.
Brandon's Enchantix
Brandon's Enchantix was even more difficult than Helia's because of how Brandon's not as feminine as Helia. I took some inspiration from Tynix because of how Brandon's powers are related to geodes. I made his vest and best/waist thing look like diamonds. I even incorporated gems into his sash. I took major liberties with jewelry because Middle Eastern (Which is the race I decided Brandon is) jewelry is very limited in jewelry for men, at least from the google search I did. I love the one sleeve look I gave him with his emerald vest/armor. I even gave him some gems on the bottom of his pants. I gave him very Aladdin looking pants, only without the crotch being so low lol. I gave him the hairstyle of the character Thoren from Winx Club and Stella's Tynix wings. The way he earns his Enchantix was by saving Sky from being eaten by one of Valtor's minions, causing Brandon to be eaten instead. This cause Brandon to earn his Enchantix and his powers were enhanced to where he could destroy the creature from the inside. This earned him not only his Enchantix, but also finally getting respect from Sky's parents, who, AT LAST, apologize for how they treated him. Yeah, this is simple but you get the point.
ENJOY!
