Here's what our friends at the Cleveland Museum of Art write about these four 17th-century paintings entitled "Scenes of Witchcraft" by Salvator Rosa:
A huge upturn in interest in witchcraft emerged during the 1500s in Europe, but by the middle of the next century - at least among the cultured elite of Florence - a backlash arose against the many accusations of sorcery. Artists and writers explored the topic more out of curiosity and amusement, chief among them the poet, painter, and satirist Salvator Rosa, who examined witchcraft with gusto in numerous poems and works of art, including these four paintings. They show a range witch types - from the beautiful enchantress to the old crone to the male sorcerer - and represent activities commonly associated with black magic - levitation, love potions, devil worship, the invocation of demons, and transformation.
If you think that's awesome, you should browse the museum's collection in JSTOR—lots of great art from a wide variety of cultures and eras, and it's open and free for everyone to view and download!

I think I relate so much to wild magic sorcerers because I have tics. And a surge and a tic are kind of similar in that they're both involuntary, they're loud, they're attention-grabbing and usually socially unacceptable. And there's really no way to prevent either of them or control when they happen, you just kind of have to apologise, laugh it off as best you can and hope the people around you are understanding about it.
Anyway, if we wanted to make them more similar, my proposal would be that sorcerers should set each other off. Because one thing about tics is that seeing someone else tic is like being hit with a reflex hammer. If you have a bunch of people who tic in the same room, one person ticcing will usually set off everyone else. And I think surges should work the same way, one person surging should start a chain reaction.

"'toru...?"
you groggily whispered into your dark room as the door to your bedroom cracked open to let in a sliver of light from the hallway.
the sudden intrusion had roused you from your nap after you and satoru gojo had been fighting curses across Okinawa islands and had come to a motel to get some much needed shut eye even though it was 2pm.
satoru wordlessly entered your room, his stark blue eyes piercing through the darkness before he shut the door and you both were again engulfed in darkness with nothing but the sound of your breathing and his. and also the old AC whirring noisiliy.
you heaved a sigh as your stage 5 clinger "friend" had showed up unannounced. you wordlessly scooted over in your bed, lifted the blanket and opened your arms a little bit as an invitation. you knew he could see you.
he always did.
"can't sleep?" you asked him as he obediently settled his head against your chest, letting you hold him despite the comical size difference between you.
he silently nodded as he wrapped his arms and legs around your form like a boa-constrictor-turned-human. or well, sorcerer.
"what happened to "friends don't sleep on the same bed?' huh?" you asked him with a light voice, aware of the conflict inside him about the relationship between you both. it was never a good idea to get attached to anyone in your line of work. it doesn't ever end well.
"we can be just friends again once we wake up," he muttered into your chest, breathing in your smell.
"did you just sniff me? my boobs, even." you say trying to come off as reprimanding but the laughter is clear in your voice.
satoru sniffs you with even more exaggeration which makes you both chuckle out loud.
"i miss him," you say after a beat of silence. the absence of a person from your group of four was felt, even after it felt like it had been ages since he made the decision to go.
you feel satoru burrow his head deeper into you at your words and you know, that if someone missed him, it wouldn't compare to how much satoru missed him.
"he would've been 27 today," you hear him faintly mutter, long after you had fell asleep.
"i will never let you go, not again," he finally says it out loud as he stares at your sleeping form, brushing off a few stray strands of hair from your face before planting a lasting kiss on your forehead.

Town that’s been cursed and won’t be un-cursed without the love of two powerful sorcerers who unfortunately just died
So it’s like. a long ass time later. town is still hella cursed. when who should drive in but the reincarnations of the two sorcerers and their kid
And everyone’s hella excited because they’re here, they’re clearly in love, they can undo the curse!
So they’re doing everything they can to befriend the couple and see what they know and try to convince them to undo it, but all signs are pointing to the couple having no magic at all, as well as no memory, just a very normal couple looking to find a fresh start with their kid that they absolutely adore, so what gives?
Turns out it’s the kid who’s being kinda ignored by the whole town (because they’re not the reincarnation of anyone, the sorcerers never had a child before dying originally) who has magic (because they’re the embodiment of the couple’s love), and that magic is extremely powerful, stronger than the two sorcerer’s combined when they were alive, and can definitely undo the curse
Unfortunately for the town, this is a comedy in my mind, so no one’s really figuring this out, just testing the couple repeatedly, while the kid (who I actually imagine as an older teen) is doing magical feats in the background
And for the drama of it all, the one responsible for the curse, who’s stuck in the town too for whatever reason, is the closest to figuring out it’s the kid who has the magic

One of the many reasons Fundamentalism sucks is because it reads spiritual text as a fact. As an absolute that can't be challenged.
On the other hand, I don't think there's much to be gained as seeing spiritual text as "pure metaphor".
The "spiritual" is neither metaphorical nor factual. It exists in an abstract space between the two. That's why we have a whole different word for it. That word being...well, the spiritual.

Chaos Sorcerer Tzarketh, Bane of Law.
Decked out in furs, blackened metal armour, and all manner of profane trinkets, he wields a staff and carries a grimoire surging with raw Chaos magic, the perfect embodiment of a Chaos Sorcerer and the ideal accompaniment to a Warhammer day that’s all about the Dark Gods.
He looks good.
Likely we will be getting another generic (multipart?) Chaos Sorcerer with the coming Slaves to Darkness tome.
