The Knight in Black (1567)
Giovanni Battista Moroni (Italian, 1525-1578)
When I come into money, you won’t be told, but the signs will be there. Or however the meme goes, he’s dripped out.

I have a plethora of photos I’ve taken at SLAM. This is by far one of the most intriguing museums I’ve ever set foot in. I’m excited to venture next door into Chicago, and have a day dedicated to some of the sights there too.
1. St. Helena and the Emperor Constantine
Presented to the Holy Trinity by the Virgin Mary, c. 1741-42 (Corrado Giaquinto)
2. An Italian Breastplate, c. 1570-75
3. Female Nude Supporting Two Heraldic Shields, debated who made this however the Museum suggests it was painted by Augustin Hirschvogel, and designed by Georg Pencz, c. 1500-1553
4. (From left to right)
- Langdebeve (Ox Tongue) Spear, c. 15th or early 16th Century
- Pollaxe (mazzapicchio) with the Arms of the City of Venice, c. Early 16th Century
- (unfortunately cannot remember or find the other weapons in this photo and the 6th)
5. The weapon behind me looks large, but it weighs around 8-9 pounds. The serrated edges were both for looks and for shredding through “objects.” (If only I could remember the name).
6. I was honestly shocked by this little hidden room on the bottom floor I get so overwhelmed at times.
7. Window Panel Fragment with Armored Saint, c. 15th century
