There are a few places in mdzs where, in the midst of Wei Wuxian trying to placate him, Jiang Cheng says something so terribly, egregiously misrepresentative of Wei Wuxian and his morals that all Wei Wuxian can do is stare at him—like an adult realizing for the first time that the tantruming child they are attempting to calm may just be spoiled—before deciding to give up on the conversation. “Sure, Jiang Cheng,” he says, “it’s whatever you feel. It’s whatever you want.”
People like to say that the problem with the Yunmeng friendship is simply communication issues, but I think the real problem is that when true conflict happens between them, they both realize that they truly do not like each other. The difference is that Jiang Cheng reacts to this realization by trying to force Wei Wuxian into the shape that he wants, which is submission—“Do as I say! Listen to me! Obey me!”—while Wei Wuxian stands at the other end of the torched bridge he plans to never cross again and goes, “Sure Jiang Cheng, it’s whatever you feel, it’s whatever you want.”

There is a brutal contrast in how Megatron and Optimus's stories end. Optimus nobly surrenders his spark, along with the Matrix of Leadership, having been sent off by his dear and trusted friends after giving them a fond farewell. He has accomplished his life's greatest goal; now he is able to rest. He dies willingly, at peace, bringing hope and giving life to the next generation by restoring the Allspark.
Megatron had already been killed, and was told that he can never join that very Allspark. Having been enslaved, and only released because of Optimus's actions, he is now reanimated, inhabiting his own corpse. His only remaining ally, who has constantly betrayed him, does not understand him. He flies off, alone, having lost all his forces and failed in his mission, and realizing that his life's greatest purpose was misguided. He is left, we can only assume, to live a hellish and hopeless life--a shell, consumed by the past.
And he did not tell Optimus goodbye. He knows that Optimus will leave him behind, will obtain the heaven he can never enter. He gives him the parting gift of his repentance, to acknowledge this. But in his refusal to say farewell, there is an echo of his own wretched endurance. He does not get to rest. Megatron will remain, eternally alone--eternally waiting for a reunion that will never come.
#transformers prime#transformers#megatron#optimus prime#megop#meta#megoptimus#depressing post alert...#just finished watching the predacons rising movie and i was feeling so many things so i had to inflict them on you#just. megatron leaving and KNOWING that optimus will leave him. you can tell in how he says his final words to him#he's of course nominally talking to starscream. but he turns and looks at optimus.#he knows the significance of what he's saying. and he knows that the only reason he is alive is because of optimus#because optimus was willing to sacrifice his own spark‚ to become one with the allspark‚ megatron received his own spark back again.#optimus saved his life.#and megatron knows this. he knows‚ because he has always known optimus and has always been able to see what he does#so he knows that when he leaves it is the last time he will see optimus--to the best of his knowledge‚ in this life or the next#he knows he will likely never join the allspark that optimus is already one with. and he still doesn't say goodbye.#because he can't let go. he isn't able to. he is the remaining half of their whole. the former servant of unicron‚ now without his prime#the primeval opposition‚ now with only one opponent; the original brotherhood‚ now only one without a brother.#his refusal to say goodbye is an expression of his desire that optimus remains. but--as all his desires have been--it is a futile one.#so at the very least it is his declaration that he shall remain even so. he will be waiting‚ for all the eons to come.#and maybe‚ in the end‚ though he does not believe it‚ primus will be merciful.#optimus always was.#kay has a party in the tags#my meta posts#kay can i just catch my breath for a second

James Fox and Dirk Bogarde on The Servant (1963) Dir. Joseph Losey (P. 1/3)
- "You won't get many better than me, you know. What do you want? An old hag running around the house, getting you up in the morning at the crack of dawn, telling you what to do? My only ambition is to serve you. You know that, don't you?" -

PTM Question: I may have missed it. but does Yev have a Kronk? Though in a strange way, I see the himbo ending up in RSA rather than NRC, just with how he is. I'd love to see your take on him if he is going to featured at some point.
(Thoughts and prayers being sent your way in the next round mochi vs bees. May you always have an epi-pen and a fly swatter close at hand when the bees come.)
(thank you my dear, i will simply be dropping nuke on my person to be rid of them)
Yes! His Kronk won't be brought up in the main storyline since I can't really fit it in a way that would be worth to bring it up, but his Kronk is his uncle actually!
His uncle is is the botany professor, Kallpa Apaza, though he prefers for students to call him by his first name. He's also the head grounds keeper, who can often be found in the botanical gardens or tending to the many plants and mini-gardens found around campus.
He's a very tender man who is not the brightest when it comes to most magical education, but he is surprisingly adept with wildlife and plants. Because he is firm but still soft when speaking with students, he is often a favorite for nervous freshmen.
Unfortunately, very few people, most of those the rest of the faculty, know that Yev and Kallpa are related. They don't look alike, and Yev deliberately goes out of his way to keep a professional relationship with his uncle on the surface. In private, Yev is much more relaxed, practically child-like, a strange and almost scare sight for nearly every other student.

King Magnifico Backstory Part 3
Part 2
On the Princesses 18th birthday, a strange messenger came to the castle, with a desperate plea.
"Princess Maroula, my mistress, the Keeper of the Wishing Stars, who granted both you and your father life, needs your aid. There is a quest that only one such as you can fulfill. A dangerous quest but a necessary one for the good of all people within this world and the EverRealm. She has done what she can herself, but her gaze is stretched thin by her obligations. We ask that you leave as soon as possible, if you are willing to come and aid us.”
And the princess, always kind of heart, and remembering the conversation in the garden all those years ago was willing
But her father was not.
Tumblr media
“How dare your mistress ask this dangerous task of my daughter! She knows the perils that exist in that realm, that befell me. She did nothing to aid me in my troubles, why should she ask to place my daughter in peril now?”
“The Blue Lady is young, in the way of her people, she had only recently taken over this charge when your misfortunes befell you, and she has sorrowed over them ever since. She granted you your daughter in part as penance for that failure. But still she has her duties, and she has foreseen a threat that only as deeply linked to Wishes as Maroula is can combat. Would you see an entire realm suffer for what was done to you?”
Maroula knew the anger born from his past heartache, which her father usually tried to keep under control, beginning to rise, and tried to sooth him
“Father, I am willing to go. You and Mother have taught me well in both the use of magic and the need to be generous in helping others. Please, let me go and help the Lady. How can I call myself a princess of Rosas and not do so?”
Tumblr media
“No Maroula!” The King cried, his fear for his daughter and anger getting the best of him. “I won’t allow it! What right has this fairy to grant my greatest wish, give our happiness tangibility and then take it away!”
“She’s not taking me away Father, she’s only asking that I—“
“Enough!”
The king turned and dismissed the messenger coldly from his sight, demanding that it never return, for his daughter would not be going to the other realm, now or ever.
“That choice is the Princess Maroula’s.” The messenger said as it left, unfazed by the king’s anger. “She is a woman grown now, able to make her own choices, even if they are not what you would choose for her. If she wishes to go, then she may go”
“Then I shall insure she cannot!”
And with that, the king used his magics to open up a room, deep deep beneath the castle, a room he had discovered upon taking claim of the castle, (a room where he had found a dangerous and deceptive tome of magic). Here he wove about with his spells and enchantments so that he was sure no star’s light could find his daughter.
“I don’t wish to leave you here Maroula, but I must keep you safe, at all costs. Let that other place deal with its own problems. You will stay here until you’ve learned to see sense”
And so the king left his daughter crying in the dark, as his gentle queen cried in the palace above, torn between supporting her husband in keeping their daughter safe from unknown danger, and supporting her daughter’s generous wish to help
Tumblr media
What neither realized, is that there was one small opening within the dungeon, a keyhole that the king had failed to account for, a keyhole through which a single thin strain of starlight came through and found the weeping princess. The princess beheld the light, and taking the power within her, she wished upon the star
And the star answered
But what came after for Princess Maroula is a story for another time…
Tumblr media
The king and queen sought day and night for their daughter, but even with all his powers, either the power of the Lady of the Wishing Stars was greater, or Maroula was using her own to avoid her father’s search. Even his wishing her back did nothing. And so the king and queen fell into despair, knowing their daughter was lost forever.
Is this the thanks I get for granting everyone else’s wishes all these years? To have my own daughter run from me? I’ve cared for her from the day she was born, given her everything and and she still decides to defy and disrespect me with this rebellion?!”
At last, the king, letting his anger over this perceived betrayal overcome his grief, decided that they could no longer go on as they had, and so he crafted a spell that would enable them to move forward
He asked his wife to give to him her wish for their daughter’s return, gifting it to him to hold onto until it could be granted. And as Amaya gave him her wish, trusting that one day it would come true—the memory of her daughter left her entirely, along with the grief of her loss. Letting her forget without the weight of regret…
Tumblr media
From then on, the king utilized this spell whenever it came time to grant his people’s wishes, holding on to them in perpetuity, instead of granting them on sight. Having lost the love of his daughter, he tried to substitute it with the love he felt imbibed in each wish as he guarded them, keeping them safe as he couldn’t protect her. Each person who gave him their wish forgot it, and so Magnifico intended to ensure that not only would no unworthy wish be granted, but no wish would lead to the heartbreak he had suffered
Despite his anger at his daughter, over the years he took many other apprentices, seeking to fill the void she had left, even granting their and their families wishes when he usually would have declined to—but none of them ever filled the place of his beloved Maroula.
And as the years passed, his anger over her loss, the heartbreak of his past, and his frustration over watching everyone’s wishes be granted but his own began to harden the king’s heart, and a darkness grew beneath his pristine exterior, waiting for the day until he felt threatened enough in his power and control to break loose…

Did you guys ever see the Beauty and the Beast sequel Belle’s Magical World? Every time I describe it to someone I have to comb my memory to make sure it wasn’t just a REALLY weird dream I had.
My perception of the first movie was that Belle realized Beast would never actually harm her and immediately lost all fear of him (and that his servants were never actually scared of him). But no, in this movie, he upends a table and crushes several of his living dishes. To death. We see their corpses being swept up later.
He does this because Belle called him rude. Which she did after he backhanded another one of his servants across the room because it was too hot.
Belle later feels guilty? And wants to apologize? But she wants him to apologize first. So three of the servants (who, bear in mind, are trapped as appliances until these two idiots decide to fall in love) forge a letter from Beast. Beast finds out and banishes the three of them into the snow, threatening to kill them if they return. When Beast finally does decide to apologize, he barges into Belle’s room so aggressively that he crushes Cogsworth against a wall.
Belle fosters an injured baby bird. Everyone is terrified because, we are told, Beast hates animals, especially birds. Belle is so enthralled with the little dude that she misses lunch with Beast. He flips out and barges into her room, sees the bird, and starts chasing it around the castle on all fours like a dog, trashing the place in the process. He’s so checked out in this blind rage that he slips on a flight of stairs, landing on his neck.
Suddenly, he loves the bird and decides to put it in a cage. He yells at it for awhile but it won’t sing for him. Belle says it will never trust him or be happy as long as he’s keeping it imprisoned (*COUGH*) and I’m fuzzy on the details here but then he falls off a building for some reason and the bird is free and loves him.
Beast’s comical levels of abusive behavior are broken up by a weird song from Belle, and an extended sequence where the feather duster thinks Lumiere is having sex with Belle and attempts to orchestrate their deaths. (No, not a vague disneyfied canoodling, it was clearly implied to be sex.)
No, I didn’t make any of that up. You’d think a movie this ??!?!??!??! would at least be not incredibly boring, but you’d be wrong there too.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Joseph Bologne, CHEVALIER (2023)
There are various reasons why that powder blue is Joseph’s main colour. Firstly, it is the colour that is recorded to be one of Marie Antoinette’s favourite colours, so it made storytelling sense to use it for Joseph because it’s like his tool for social acceptance within the aristocracy and the French Court. It’s almost like a uniform that he needs to put on to be able to exist and flourish within that racially unjust society that he’s in... During the last half of the movie—which is what you’re referring to—he’s no longer looking for that approval, he’s in this self-acceptance mode and he embraces his cultural roots and becomes a part of the African community. So, the colours that he wears reflect that. -Costume Designer, Oliver Garcia (x)

Man, I'm so obsessed with Steel Under Silk.
I thought for so, so sure that Heeyrang would let his heart get the best of him and let Yeonjo go. Instead, he went the complete opposite direction.
But of course he did.
He and Yeonjo are exactly the same. One is desperately, unwaveringly suicidal and one wants to live so desperately he'll kill to survive, but beyond that, they are the exact same. Their stubbornness, their pride, their obsession with violence as a defense mechanism and rejection of any positive emotion as something weak and dangerous.
Yeonjo stared happiness in the face and decided that it simply couldn't be him. That he had to go through with it, because not going through with it meant giving up on everything he'd built his self-worth around. He decided that he couldn't find forgiveness, love, happiness, peace, comfort; he had to burn the bridge for a messy murder-suicide that no one in his family asked of him.
But in the end, he couldn't kill him. He never would have been able to, even before he was caught. He knew the poison couldn't kill him. He just wanted to kill himself, but his pride wouldn't let him go without saying he tried.
Heeyrang had to stare this betrayal in the eye and realize he actually does love Yeonjo, and he does regret what he did, that Yeonjo could never possibly forgive even when things are going good. He has to face the fact that his actions, all he's done just to survive, means he walks a path where he can never trust others. But in order to continue on, in order to not unravel his entire sense of self, he has to steel himself and pretend he doesn't care and act even worse. He has to burn the bridge, just like Yeonjo did. Because the only other option is remorse. And if he looks back at everything he did and regrets it, where does that leave him?
Just a bastard who became a murderer. Just like if Yeonjo had to look back with nothing to show for it, he'd only be a traitor's son that became a prostitute.
They're so similar it's insane. The exact same while being polar opposites. If they were reborn in opposite situations, in opposite body types, they would end up in this same situation, doing the same thing to the other that the other is now doing to them.
