Agent Stone had to admit the dinner was better than he would've expected for such a small town. He had held a rather pleasant conversation with Maddie and, to an extent Tom. In another life, maybe they could've been friends, but Stone was loyal to Robotnik first and foremost. Their double date had been remarkably boring, save for Wade trying to eat one of the plastic fruits in the centerpiece.

"Well, I had better get going. Early morning tomorrow." Stone stood and nodded politely to Tom and Maddie, even giving Maddie a firm handshake. Wade stood up and said his goodbyes, following Stone out the door.

"You want me to walk you home?" Wade asked smiling at Agent Stone, who gave him a briefly confused look.

"You drove us here." There was a pause in the conversation and Stone suddenly felt the weight of the night on his shoulders. "If you wouldn't mind, I'd like a ride back to the Mean Bean."

They walked to the squad car and Wade opened the door for Agent Stone before getting in the driver's seat. Their rode back was uneventful as Stone decided not to distract Wade with idle conversation. They pulled up in front of the Mean Bean and Stone climbed out, watching with a mix of surprise and confusion as Wade got out and joined him.

"What are you doing?"

"I, uh.... I was gonna walk you to your door..." Stone paused, and then nodded sharply. Maybe he could still gain some information tonight.

"Very well, I live above the shop." Agent Stone leaned his head to the side, almost pointing at the steps on the side of the building that led up to the apartment above. Stone weighed in his head how to best pry information from the deputy, given all he had observed tonight. He needed to play this just right.

As they reached the front door at the top on the stairs, Stone turned to Wade and sized him up quickly.

Pupils dialated, breathing hard, light perspiration on forehead, and uncertain what to do with his hands. He's clearly trying to use the dating cliche playbook. Likely Wade was expecting at least a kiss, Agent Stone could use this.

"Would you like to come in?" He asked, his voice going down an octave. He smiled at Wade and knew he hit the mark when Wade began stuttering and chuckling awkwardly.

"Sure!" He said almost too enthusiastically. Stone unlocked the door and led Wade inside.

I am going to do this in full color but I love the stippled version so much that I made a scan of it before adding anything else. I think I'll do some stipple-only pieces after this one since I really love the effect. Plus they work really well for prints!

Why do I do this...

Night had fallen and Agent Stone was looking in a mirror, making sure he was dressed well enough for his quote/unquote date. Wade Whipple seemed simple minded enough that he likely would.not care what Agent Stone wore, but it was a level of self respect instilled in the agent by Doctor Robotnik. His doctor.

He just needed to pump more information from the bumbling deputy.

By 7:50 Agent Stone was standing outside the Mean Bean, waiting patiently.

By 8pm he had become irritated. 'Did punctuality mean nothing anymore?!' His doctor valued punctuality. Another reason that Ivo Robotnik was far superior than the average man in Stone's mind.

At 8:07 Wade Whipple pulled up in a squad car, jumping out long enough to open the passenger side door for Stone.

"Such a gentleman." Stone remarked with veild snark before sliding inside and buckling himself in. Wade smiled at the assumed compliment and ran back to his door, not realizing it had closed on him. He tried pulling on the handle yet it didn't open. Before Wade could speak, Agent Stone rolled him eyes and opened the door from inside.

"Heh, thanks. That happens way more than you'd think." He chuckled at himself, missing Stone's response of "I don't doubt it."

Together they began driving in silence. Stone appreciated the quiet, but Wade clearly felt differently.

"So, how long have you been here? In Green Hills? I don't remember seeing you before."

Stone felt his face freeze in confusion. 'Seriously?! I was standing next to his desk?!' With a quick clearing of his throat, Agent Stone decided to play the 'New Guy' card and feign ignorance. "About a month ago, actually. My... previous job was, well, let's just say dissolved."

"Really? So you missed the whole Evil Doctor thing, then?" Stone would've face palmed if it wouldn't give his plan away.

"Evil Doctor, you say? My, that sounds exciting. Do tell." He smiled at Wade, who unfortunately became distracted and rear ended the car in front of them that had stopped at the red light.

"Whoops. My bad." Wade laughed apologetically and stepped out to talk to coupld he just hit. Stone had to suppress the urge to slam his head into the dashboard.

This was gonna be a long date...

so of course when my mom passed away we went through totes and totes and boxes and boxes of things she had saved throughout her lifetime.

she had an absolute shit ton of things I had made - clay things from kindergarten, finger paintings, drawings from grade school, etc etc.

special meaningful things that I remembered making and will always remember uncovering while sorting through her life’s worth of saved possessions.

out of all of it though, this was something I felt like sharing here: a stipple of Nightcrawler. a study based on a Marvel Icons comic done in High School (2003)

it made the art class calendar that year for the month of October, which was far and away the most vied-for month slot (because everyone wanted to draw weird, creepy stuff and October was the month to be featured with those subjects)

Let’s start with my profile image! If I were a tattoo artist this is the kind of tattoo I would do. Some people find stippling tedious, I find it super therapeutic. And I love how it looks on this vintage teapot.
