Was thinking about how much of a normo I come across as irl, how I’ve felt a lil odd person out at their shows bc of being a bit older (29) and looking so aggressively normal, how generally confused people in my life would be if they knew about my d&p obsession, how thoroughly i mask weirder traits and essentially codeswitch to suit the mainstream, etc.

i feel kind of fish out of water when I imagine how all the people that populate my tumblr phandom ecosystem are likely presenting to the world irl (I.e. more visibly queer, counterculture, and so on). But then I think maybe the most visible phannies are the ones with the most curated, alt, deliberate daytoday lewks/style? So maybe what I’m picturing is off base? But then I’m also basing this off of what audiences look like in audience footage, m&gs, etc.

Sooooooo i would like to know… do you guys feel like you present as someone who may be Deeply Online and obsessed with two gay nerds from the internet? Or do you hide it and fly under the radar, masking as a total normy and living a double life?

is adhd/autism really becoming a trend or is the internet just the place we feel the most heard and like we can speak up without the stress of having 'perfect' neurotypical 'social interaction'? is it a trend, or has social media just created easier avenues for connection for us? Is it becoming a trend, or are we just a big chunk of the content creators online? bc ya know... the 9-5 workforce doesn't jive with a lot of us, and we're all striving to be seen and understood.

something that bugs me is whenever someone says “can we address the misogyny in this fanbase” is the response of “well you should just create content of female characters yourself” like… no one is saying you have to stop liking or making content of the male characters. I talk about tsk and rui all the time. It’s just something that’s worth being mindful of wrt which characters you care more about and why - and which characters you consume content of and why (bc to an extent there’s the “nobody is gonna pay attention to what i make unless it includes the male faves” factor). If your response to people asking you to examine your unconscious bias is to get super defensive and big mad I think you should examine why that is. Just my opinion.

I was in my yt shorts foreverscrolling, as one does, and a clip of when Elphaba received her balloon from the Wizard came up and one comment said "you have to admit his little messenger balloon is pretty cute" and someone replied something like "manipulators like him often use 'cute' things to deceive people" and something in my brain just remembered "oh, right, so he's a charismatic manipulating charlatan who is also desperate for approval and praise but also secretly extremely insecure and he sees nothing wrong with lying and having big grandiose gestures to lie/celebrate/indulge himself even to the point he has no problem massively misleading people on an untold scale. Go on 👀"

None of the civilians even fucking know what the Wizard looks like but most of them are so camp-level brain dead that you could just have Madame Morrible say "oh, [the Reader] ran away because they're just so shy :) you know everyone has been young and in love and, the Wizard needs your help making sure they stay out of trouble and come home, everyone ^^" and you'd have munchkins tailing you by that same week

Personally I've always been a little, hungry for the trope of "Powerful 'damsel' whose abilities are used/exploited by the villain who is obsessed with them" trope and I couldn't decide if the idea of Reader being a witch or a civilian is more appealing to me. Are you powerless because of the social pressure and manipulated situation you are forced into, or, are you also literally powerless?

Seeing the new movie, and especially The Wiz, the Emerald City celebrations are always so grandiose, and I can picture he's just constantly dragging you to those. Or, would you be forced to be a recluse, since he hides his face from even his palace guards? Does he even go out or does he just make announcements with scwry automatons? How many people even know he's like, a person-person? Does the general public just hear "oh hey this is Reader they're gonna be the Wizard's 'special friend' ;) be nice to them everyone" and they just immediately accept you're this weird giant robot/human weird interspecies couple (or am I totally misinterpreting and people think he summons the robot to talk with magic...)

I mean, I guess spoilers but we also already know that the Wizard knows how to be charming and seductive when he wants to 👀 I admit I didn't recognize his voice when he first appeared but everyone is saying it's super obvious to tell and also that the play/book is so old that everyone already knows but, again spoilers, finding out that he's the guy I was talking about from my last post has me a lil 🥴😳 we literally just watched him seduce and party his way into impregnating her like, no I'm GONNA be gross about it! she really did deadass let him hit it raw he nailed that shit so good like???? Hello???? I'm about to risk it all--
