edit: ok i originally had this in the tags but i've decided i feel strongly enough about it that i'm putting it in the body of the post:

i have this little tiny worry about this compliments blog making people feel unseen if they arent being posted about, so i have a tiny little worry that i could be contributing to that by reblogging. but i also love the thrust towards using kindness to counter some of the other stuff that's been going on on here, and i really celebrate that impulse. plus i feel so heartwarmed by the kind messages and rly must say thank you! so thank you <3

but also to all who read this, please just remember that fandom isn't a popularity contest and unless you're like, actively and intentionally a dick, then however you are showing up on here is probably great! you can lay low and that is great! or you can put yourself out there, and that is also great! fandom is what you want it to be for you and communities shouldn't feel like a hierarchy, bc we're all just sharing in celebrating something we love. but also if you DO put yourself out there, you'll probably never have the slightest inkling just how much people appreciate and dig your individual presence on here, whether people are actively saying anything to/about you or not. seriously. that's also true generally in life; we're all generally much more cared for than we realize.

but this is ALSO a reminder to tell the people you appreciate that you appreciate them on here! they'll love it you'll make friends it's all great. plus fandom is community and community needs to be reciprocal. when we just rely on creators to create, therein lies the hierarchy to be avoided. tumblr's better than a lot of platforms at eliminating some of the corrosive hierarchical/popularity-based tendencies of modern fandoms, but it's not perfect, and how we use it def makes a difference. anyway, case in point, i yap and digress.
