I just finished reading the ssr memory card in devilgram where Satan and Lucifer need to be escorts for Maddi.
Not gonna lie, I'm kinda scared of her. It would be funny if she could become a friend to mc and not a reason to be intimidated, but she acts soooo predatory.
Mammon goes to her house and comes back crying and with nightmares, Diavolo doesn't even want to see her and Lucifer says every man she likes will end up in her house/bed. He also warns Satan about her beauty so he doesn't fall for her.
Brother, she's the real demon here. If i was actually there I would fold like a chair out of fear. Fuck Satan and his rage; I'm scared of Maddi.
EDIT (because i just thought about it): she kinda reminds me of Jennifer Aniston's character in Horrible bosses.
In case you haven't seen the movie, she sexually harass her employee because she wants him and he doesn't have anywere else to work. (Spoiler: she r*p*d him while he was asleep).

Fun Facts 651-660
• Overhearing how much the brothers missed a soup from the Celestial Realm, Simeon hunted down the most similar ingredients he could find in the Devildom to make it for them.
• Mammon was once kidnapped by vines
• Leviathan made himself an octopus costume so he could sneak up on Lucifer. Lucifer threw him into the ocean.
• Even on his days off, Barbatos has a hard time stopping himself from working
• When his brothers splashed him, Satan pulled out a water bazooka and chased them down
• The Great Witch Maddi made Mammon cry. He refuses to be near her now.
• Leviathan accidentally threw a trident at Diavolo
• Solomon once blew up the kitchen in a failed cooking attempt and called MC trying to convince them it was a figment of their imagination and not to come check on him.
• Barbatos gave Belphegor a growth-spurt soup but Belphie drank too much and grew to be the size of the castle.
• When everyone was given a Lepus to raise, Beelzebub was put in charge of feeding them instead because they were worried he might eat his.

I love it when random side characters get blown out of proportion in a fandom.
It’s either “this is glupshitto he has 3 seconds of screentime and he is our lord and savior”
Or “this is cuntkenzie he is only mentioned in passing and everyone wants to crucify him and stomp on his shallow grave”

Another vampire Cass au
Danny didnt know how this is his life
It all started when his parents, doctors Jack and Maddie Fenton supernatural scientists and monster hunters, got an anonymous tip about vampires being in Gotham. Worse the tip was about one of the worlds most dangerous vampires, Lady Shiva. So with a excuse of a "Family hunting trip" his sister and he were packed and in the GAV and heading for Gotham
What his parents didnt know was that since an accident in the lab with his friends and a black grimoire Danny had been practicing necromancy. Well a subclass of necromancy called Ghost magic. Which he was apparently extremely good at. He couldnt tell his parents they were extremely old fashioned. He could hear his father now "All magic users are witches and warlocks and need to be burned or put to the stake with extreme prejudice".
Danny knew you didn't get "anonymous tips" about vampires, espectialy this vampire. Sure enough, as soon as they entered Gotham, it's ghosts started to warn him that this was a trap. Figures Vlad would be up to some new trick. He could handle whatever the fruitloop had planed.
It happened the first night. They were sleeping in the GAV when *Crack* the GAV was hit and tipped on its side. Despite all his parent defenses (UV lights, Garlic gas, Holy water sprinkler system, and stake launchers) one vampire seemed to dance through it all. Before Danny knew it his family and him were held down and the last of the defenses were destroyed.
Danny looked up from where he was being held on the ground by... ninja vampires? He looked at his family. They had been knocked unconcious with a 'gentle' blow. Then a pair of boots stepped in front of him and he looked up. The real Lady Shiva stood in front of him.
"Daniel Fenton, prefers Danny, Goes by Phantom, 14 years old, male, a virgin, and a powerful spirit mage." She looks into his eyes " you are going to be a great gift for my Daughter"

MC: It's been a while. I thought you would still be sulking somewhere in the corners of hell. *smiles*
Maddi: *hasn't visited the Demon Lord's Castle for almost a month*
Maddi: I'm a busy person. I have important things to take care of.
MC: I see. *serves her refreshments and desserts*
Maddi: I'm here to see Diavolo.
MC: He's busy with tons of paperwork. You can't disturb him.
Maddi: Then how about Lucifer?
MC: He's busy as well.
Maddi: ...
Maddi: How about you?
MC: It doesn't seem like it, but I have things to do as well.
Maddi: Can't those wait?
MC: It depends.
Maddi: Mammon has been captured by witches. It will be your best interest to postpone them.
MC: ...
MC: Were you involved?
Maddi: No.
MC: Very well.
Mammon: Thanks for saving me, attendant! You're really a loyal and reliable servant of The Great Mammon!
MC: Yes, yes. Now be ready to get scolded once you get back to the House Of Lamentation.
Mammon: Wha—
Maddi: ...
MC: *turns to look at her* *hand on their chest* Thank you for helping us. Without you, I wouldn't have known that he was in danger.
Maddi: ...
Maddi: It comes with a payment.
Mammon: Huh?!
Maddi: A simple dinner in my house. You will accept it, aren't you, attendant?
MC: I will go to your house. Sure. But I have this firm belief to never trust a witch's food. Same with sorcerers, of course.
Maddi: I will order takeout then.
Mammon: Uh... What's going on here?

Ectoberhaunt Day 16: Bloom
Summary: Jack and Maddie Fenton have been growing a special flower in secret for months, finally its buds are ready to bloom! But why is Danny becoming more avoidant than usual?
Ao3 link
At long last!
This rare flower, thought to be extinct, is finally blooming after all their hard work gardening. Well, mainly her hard work. Maddie took care of the more delicate and meticulous side of things. Jack tries but they both know he's not good at that sort of stuff. She can be hyper focused on the minute details but Jack gets bored easily if its not something he can freely do and has little patience for botany despite his best efforts.
A flower long thought to be gone for good grown right here in the lab. Sure they had to make a special enclosure for it but they didn't want ghosts or the kids with their rebellious, 'pro ghosts' phase, to mess with it before it could be ready to flower.
Heck, they were unaware it existed until one day when they were going through old Fenton Family Photos- the way Jack says it implies it is all capitalized- where they found notes by a witch hunting ancestors buried at the bottom mentioning how they were used to trap spirits and keep them from helping their witch masters.
It is said they are a great danger to the supernatural but completely safe, even delicious, for human consumption.
If enough bloom, they can use it in more anti ghost defenses if the stories prove true. Might even make a new weapon to capture a specimen if they get that far. The possibilities are endless!
While the kids were at school, they put it to the test. All throughout the house the blossomed flowers were arranged in every room. Red blooms decorate the walls and windowsills and other various surfaces connected by their black stems twisting around each other. Unassuming to those not in the know. Just a beautiful decoration to most.
And who else would even know about them? Not many for sure.
No ghost can leave the zone from their portal when the house has these flowers! If they come, they'll be trapped in the lab!
She's making a snack for her and Jack for the taste test, too!
Well, that and that she has been at this all day and does need a snack. You can't study and fight ghosts on an empty stomach after all!
Jack is in the basement lab working on a new weapon incorporating these plants.
The kids will never be safer here at home!
There haven't been any ghost attacks all day.
None of the ghost alerts they had set up around town have acted up. Sure, those only register ghosts above a certain threshold to compensate for the ectoplasmic background radiation the town is soaked in and that no good Phantom can seemingly hide in plain sight, but this has to mean it works on some level!
Anything coming through their portal will be trapped in the lab even when they're not home!
Oh, this is fantastic!
The kids will be happy that those spooks wont get in the way anymore. They should be, anyway. She can never really read them anymore, especially Danny. A shame, they used to be so close, too.
Speaking of the kids, it's about time for them to come home about now. Or it used to be before they both got so busy. Well, Jazz at least tries to be around them and return her bags before going back out or locking herself in her room to study.
Danny, though, keeps skipping school and ignoring curfew. When he doesn't skip, he has detention! That boy and his poor priorities. Why can't he be more like his sister? At least this way he will have more time to devote to his studies for once with his school getting attacked less!
"Mom! I'm home!" her eldest announces once she walks into the door. Dutiful and making sure they know shes home. What a good daughter!
Maddie, who was working on the Fenton Finder again, as its glitches keep detecting Danny, makes her way out of the kitchen to greet her oldest child.
"Hey, sweetie! How was school today? It's quite late, did you get some studying done or was it tutoring?" She couldn't help but gush.
Maddie is sure Jack would be asking the same, albeit with more arm pulling and back breaking hugs. She loves that man but he really doesn't know his own strength most of the time. Or keep it in check. There is a time and a place for it, after all.
"Things went fine, mom. What's with all the flowers, though? Didn't take you one for home decor."
There she goes, always questioning stuff. Such a strong, scientific mind.
Not that Danny doesn't but he tends to not want to use it. From what she has simply observed and all.
If something was truly wrong, then he would tell them. Right?
"Oh, just trying something new. Do you like it?"
"Um, yeah. I guess? But, why so many? And... you put these in every room?"
"Can never have too many flowers! These are a rare breed after all. They have special cleansing properties to ward off ghosts!" Maddie is excited to share this good news! They don't have to worry about one of those nasty ghosties waking them up anymore!, "And don't you worry about your rooms! Jack and I still remember your lectures on 'privacy' and 'personal space'. I just left a vase full in both yours and your brother's room, nothing too obstructive, on your windowsills."
"Uh huh. How did you find out about these flowers? What are they called, anyway?"
"Blood blossoms! We found an old journal from one of Jack's ancestors, Jack Fenton-Nightingale that held fascinating records we couldn't wait to see if they worked. I'm so glad you asked! You're welcome to join us if you want, sweetie."
Jazz looked more unnerved than enthused, but she's always busy with her own passions rather than wanting to focus on theirs, much to their chagrin.
"That's great, mom!," Jazz's enthusiasm sounds strained, "I'll let Danny know about the new floral arrangements before he gets home. I need to go study, they gave us a lot of homework today and I spent all afternoon torturing. Call me when it's time for dinner." And she is rushing out, clearly done with this conversation.
For some reason, it stings Maddie's heart at how flighty and avoidant her kids are. She knows they are at that age but it hurts her to feel them drifting.
"Wait," Maddie stops her daughter before she could leave, "before you hole yourself up. Where is Danny? Do you know? He usually tells you nowadays. I just... really do hope this helps him."
"He's with his friends like usual, mom. They have a project coming up and he might be staying over with them tonight. How do you think these flowers will help him?"
Jazz is fishing for information but Maddie can't bring herself to care. She desperately needs to share this worry with someone else. She has Jack, but sometimes he doesn't get it in a way that she needs and her social circle is depressingly small. A sacrifice she was willing to make for her studies and passion even if it's lonely.
"Your brother," Maddie begins, hoping the explanation will be able to let her oldest know her worries for her baby boy, "is always so frightened and runs away whenever ghosts attack. He can't even handle a conversation about them. I'm hoping that these ghost warding flowers will give him some peace of mind. Make it easier to sleep and study and catch up on school stuff. Where his priorities need to be if he wants to do well for himself. I know he has done well when given the chance. A mother worries, after all."
Jazz gave her a thoughtful, pensive look, like shes warring with herself, before settling on a sad, small smile.
"I get it. I'll make sure to let him know about the Blood Blossoms so he won't be caught off guard at the sudden change."
"Thank you for understanding, dear."
"Who knows, maybe Sam might think it's cool. She does have an interest in nature and preserving rare species."
It's obvious that she's trying to change the subject delicately and Maddie appreciates her thoughtfulness and more than willing to change it herself.
"That is a wonderful idea! I will have to bring that up next time I see her."
Maddie's joy at such a suggestion made her almost miss her daughters face fall, when she thought her mom wasn't looking. Such a sad, fragile smile as she made her way to her room.
I can feel the gap between us widening, but I'm unsure why or how to fix it.
It's been days and Danny still hasn't come home, not even to say 'Hi.'. Always at a friend's place for one reason or another. Maddie has grown increasingly worried. Sure, sometimes he skips curfew and sometimes he's not in his room at night, but outright avoidance is unlike him!
And she knows he didn't just up and leave. He still goes to school and is seen around town. Just never comes around here anymore.
What did they do to make him outright shun them? Shun her?
It wasn't until he did finally come home and stay the night that she saw something.
He's always been a bit withdrawn, more so since the portal activated, but this was a whole new level.
He was pale and shaking for at least an hour of him being home and out of his room. He avoided any food with the black stemmed rose-like buds, claiming to not be hungry when he hasn't left his room all day. He just smiled shakily that night, pretending nothing was wrong and claiming to just be tired. But his head drooped when he thought Jack and Maddie weren't looking. The bags under his eyes were more pronounced and he seemed to get worse the longer the night dragged.
Danny seemed nervous and on edge like something would come out to attack him. Which is silly, with our new defenses no ghost has left through our portal since they made these changes.
But, for some reason, he's more hesitant and distant from us. Like he expects us to hurt him.
Ridiculous.
I miss my baby boy. We used to be so close. I thought this would help him but it seems to have driven him further from me. I don't know what I did wrong.

HII!! Its my first time requesting here!! But i have thought about this idea just a minute ago while daydreaming
So, mc was back in the human world and basically, lucifer or satan was forced to get married to maddi. And when mc came back it was the wedding day, and mc was so surprised, scared, angry qbout the news she heard and she feels betrayed so she immediately went to confront him about it and yeah. Idk how will this go but you can decide the ending!!! Thank you so much and have a good day/night/afternoon when u are reading this
Lucifer would not put such a responsibility on any of his brother's shoulders. While conversations of the Wedding Day come about, and your visage dances around his mind, his decision remains the same. "It's gonna break their heart, you know?" Asmodeus, might not be the person responsible for your upcoming heartbreak, but the thought of your sorrows gut him all the same. "Is there really no way out of this?" There's not. Had there been he would have made it so. But it looks like everyone's hands are tied in the situation.
"What would you have me do?"
"Do what you always do and figure it out!" There was nothing left to figure. The ceremony is in a week. Supposedly, The Great Witch has invited all of the guest, picked the venue, and her dress. He'd already been measured for his suit. You already knew, not that he told any of the others. He had gone to the Human World himself to inform you, it was the right thing to do.
You'd been furious. Tears streamed down your face, as you continued to ask how he could do this? His response of that he had to, did not console you, it instead made you all the more irate, sentencing to leave and wishing him a happy life. His only regret, was that in that moment, he could do nothing to soothe you. That after all the times you'd brought him comfort and joy; he brought you misery without any means of alleviating the pain.
The night before, Lucifer dreams of you. Dreams of your smile, of your humour, of the precious memories that he'll keep with him for centuries down the road. Only to awaken with a start upon watching it crumble. The image of you crying and asking how he could do this to you, haunt him right up to the altar as he stands awaiting for it all to end.
"Should anyone wish to object, speak now or forever hold your peace." It's like something out of those movies you'd used to sit and watch with Asmo, the doors slam open, followed by your angry shouting.
"I object! I seriously object!" Lucifer takes a good minute to get over the shock of seeing you.
"How did you get here?" When a certain white-haired demon, who had been missing for a suspicious amount of time, stumbles in behind you, Lucifer can't even prevent his name from falling out of his mouth. "Mammooooon!" Mammon, just hides himself behind you.
"It doesn't matter. You can't stop this, it's for the betterment of the Devildom after all." Maddi, isn't bothered by your interruption, merely shrugging at your presence.
"What if he's already my husband?" The whole room turns to you, Lucifer quirks a brow, surely you don't think your lie is going to convince an entire room of nobles? Especially while, Diavolo sits in the front row, who would have known straight away if this was the case.
"Excuse me?" Maddi now seems to be very irked.
"You heard me, we're already married!" He's got no clue where your confidence is coming from, or how you even concocted this whole idea, but he wants to laugh. "You'd really break the first ever human-demon marriage for something that's been done time and time again?"
"And why was no one of aware of this?" Lucifer thinks your lie has come to an end, especially from how shrink ever so slightly at her questioning.
"You'll have to forgive me Maddi, but I requested the pair to keep it a secret." Only for Diavolo to chime in. "In fact everyone will have to forgive me, because I can't allow for this ceremony to continue, especially given the importance for the Devildom's future that these two remain together." The room break out into murmuring, and Maddi is outraged.
"Lord Diavolo, what about-"
"Yes that agreement, Barbatos found something most interesting about the information you presented me that I believe requires a private discussion." There's not much time for Maddi to react, while Barbatos comes up beside her dragging her through a portal.
The events that follow are almost a blur, until it's just Lucifer, Mammon, Diavolo and yourself in the room. Diavolo lets out a loud laugh, turning to you with a signature grin. "I must say, you're always full of surprises! I had a feeling you were going to appear, but I didn't think you'd be bold enough to tell an outright lie in a room full of Demon Nobles."
"What can I say it's part of my charm." You match his grin with one of your own, something that amuses the prince even further.
"Indeed." Lucifer chimes in almost immediately, and the two of you exchange a wordless glance. There's several words that linger on both of your tongues, eagerly awaiting to be said. But as you both stare at each other neither of you are entirely sure where to even begin.
"...so you guys aren't actually married, right?" Mammon does not help. Neither does Diavolo as his laughter starts up again.

People have their characters romance each other all the time while playing Dungeons & Dragons. There's deep meaningful monologues and sometimes some crying. It's normal. If anyone asks—it’s Karen’s fault. That’s what Eddie is going to make sure is written on his gravestone when this colossal lapse in judgment ends with him burying himself six feet under. this is technically a double rec cause the sequel is also great!! fluff and humour is one of my favourite tags and this captures both perfectly <3
family (portrait) | ProsperDemeter/@prosperdemeter2 | 45.1k | T
realizing that the family that you need has been beside you all along. i love the family dynamics here, both the complex buckley family ones and the maddie & buck & jee & chim & eddie stuff. brilliant fic!
i'm hearing secret harmonies | Chash | 18k | T
When the firefighter walks into Eddie's coffeeshop, Eddie immediately knows two things about him: he's not human, and he's the love of Eddie's life. i love witch eddie so much!! the diaz family here is so lovely as well <3
life like a face between your palms | hattalove/ @hattalove | 9.6k | M
in which eddie is sweet, and buck is a little undone by it. sweet eddie my absolute most beloved <3 the tooth-rotting fluff tag has never been more accurate!
a place in the clouds | lesbianrobin/@lesbianrobin | 5.1k | G

Part 1: what's lost can be found
"She won't make a sound, alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering if she stands she'll fall down. She wants to be found, the only way out is through everything she's running from wants to give up and lie down. So stand in the rain, stand your ground. Stand up when it's all crashing down. You stand through the pain, you won't drown. And one day, what's lost can be found."  -Stand in the Rain by Superchick
Regent Masterlist Part 2
Tumblr media
The decayed ghost siren echoed through the abandoned streets of Amity Park's Witching Hours. Its residents were well acquainted with what that sound meant, fear and exasperation a potent (strange) mix to keep them tucked in their homes, their beds, as the Fentonworks building seemed to come alive.
Of course, figuratively speaking.
(Nothing was truly alive there anymore.)
Jasmine Fenton had just arrived back from the Infinite Realms, muscles pleasantly sore from training with Pandora and very much looking forward to hugging her little brother before he begun his nightly patrol. The siren caught her attention before she’d stepped fully out of her portal, dread filling her gut like a rock dropped into a lake.
Oh no.
Team Phantom were young, no one could ever argue that, with some scars to show for all their battles to protect Amity from those that would claim their haunt- but no one outside the team understood just how paranoid they’d become since Pariah Dark and Dark Dan
The contingencies had begun when Jazz started to remember bits and pieces of a timeline that Danny himself had erased using the reality gauntlet. He’d never told anyone of what had happened, with Freakshow’s plan to make himself ‘ringmaster of all reality’ and all, but Jazz had somehow recalled flashes of sheer panic at watching her little brother accidentally reveal himself as Phantom on live tv, in the Fentonworks kitchen on that little box set. The white rings of light that emerged from his core to switch from half-alive to half-dead and vice versa damned him.
The elder fentons had gone on the offense immediately, Jack’s screech of ghost! Echoing in the house and they raced down to the lab to get whatever latest weapon they’d built to capture Phantom.
It didn’t matter that their son was dead, that he had died, that their ‘greatest work’ was Danny’s grave. That Jasmine was…well, she wasn’t entirely human anymore, not when she turned on her heel to follow her progenitors down down down into the darkness, sword tightly grasped in hand as her teal eyes glowed a sickly green.
She hadn’t hesitated then, to protect her little brother. One slash, two, three
Danny hadn’t known she killed their parents in that timeline. She would never tell him.
She would never tell him how they hadn’t even noticed her presence, her ever loyal weapon Faithkeeper about to take their lives, how she hadn’t even needed to summon her armor. She would never tell him how they begged for their lives, not to protect their children, but to kill the ghostly menace.
Danny never knew she’d dumped their corpses in the landfill.
(Right where they belonged.)
WIth the rewrite of the timeline, reset to the same day of the ill-fated Humpty Dumpty concert, Jack and Maddy Fenton’s deaths were undone, but not the blood on Jasmine’s hands.
With Danny’s defeat of Pariah Dark, came another revelation.
Jasmine was still mostly alive. Somehow she’d survived her childhood, but Danny hadn’t. She’d looked away for five minutes, forgotten to lock the lab after their parents left and he’d died for it.
With the weight of being schrodinger’s hero, could her little brother withstand becoming king of the infinite realms?
Perhaps not while he was still learning, still gaining his own grip on his strange existence. In time, he would become a great king- one of mercy and benevolence, but he still had a long ways to go.
Jasmine had borrowed ancient ghost law books from Ghostwriter and locked herself away for three days, cycling between crying for her and Danny, reading through the complicated laws of ye olden times, and writing down her findings- just in case another reality rewrite was due.
Tumblr media
Jasmine had accepted Regency on Danny’s behalf with a grace she didn’t know she possessed.
It had been a small ceremony, with Danny and his friends present and Pandora, Jasmine’s mentor, acting as sentry as she accepted the Crown of Fire. She knew it was a long road till she could pass it down to its rightful owner, but Jasmine was prepared to shoulder the burden for her little brother.
Pandora had simply laid one of her many hands on Jasmine’s shoulder with a solemn air, in understanding. There was work to be done before any of them could have peace. (Not even the afterlife was safe from paperwork.)

Her favorite journal contained the scraps of her hope and dreams bound in maroon leather, soft with age and imprinted with every emotion Jazz had unwittingly (and later knowingly) poured into every word.
Its pages were a kaleidoscope of her life.
Sure, it began with the soft tinge of curiosity-exasperation-fondness, some sentiment of better times before her progenitors began working on that damned portal, constructing the future grave of their son without the slightest clue.
The emotions began turning a darker turn when the work turned into an obsession. Jazz had plunged into her schoolwork and part-time jobs to afford whatever was needed for the siblings to survive, fondness becoming slowly poisoned by anger. Anger for the portal. Anger for the food other kids had, that they didn’t have to work so hard for. Anger that she knew what starving felt like.
Anger that she was so weak.
Then the day of Danny’s death.
The darkest part of her history, the last embers of her hopes and dreams, of the siblings escaping smothered. Danny’s death scream forever etched into her brain.
(It should’ve been her.)
She hated those pages of her journal, the emotions of grief-anger on her tongue, but she couldn’t bring herself to rip them out. No more than she could destroy the confessions of protect-rage-grief, the confessions of the darker timeline she shouldn’t remember.
On very last page was the contingency plan Jazz herself had created.
Tumblr media
Code Graverobber.
That siren wasn’t any ordinary ghost siren, no, it was the one Tucker had programmed himself- it was the quickest way to alert every member of Team Phantom and Tucker had made sure that none of them could mistake it for a Fenton ghost alarm. No, Code Graverobber was in effect.
Phantom had been captured by the elder Fentons.
Tumblr media
(Fate has a way of setting itself right.) (Death wants its due.) With a bleeding, sobbing and vivisected Danny cradled in her arms, Jazz left Amity Park behind for what she prayed to the Ancients was forever. The Fentons died that night, though the official records would claim they were killed in a explosion due to the highly unstable inventions they created, taking the lives of their children as well. No one really dug around in the wreckage of Fentonworks, not for the bodies of the family within, with the chance of another explosion happening should rubble be shifted the wrong way.
Jack and Maddie Fenton died..
But Jasmine and Danny Nightingale lived on, in Gotham City.
Tumblr media
The last of those three days she spent locked in her room, Jasmine wrote a letter to a future version of herself, tucked inside one of her favorite books now lost in the destruction of Fentonworks. To my future self, Forget me in your happiness.    Love, your past

A/N: BEHOLD!
Ahem. This is the original chapter 1 that I never finished or published. It's not my favorite or my best, but I unburied it for the 300 milestones. Thanks for reading!

Fic: Something to Sink Your Teeth Into 17/?
Pairing: Buck/Tommy
Vampire/Witch!AU
Read on AO3
It was so cold.
Icy cold. The kind of cold that hurt your cheeks whenever the wind blew, the kind of cold that made every breath a cloud of steam that floated around their heads like smoke from a fire before drifting away. The snow-covered ground seemed to glow under the light of a full moon as they walked slowly across a deserted field. Two figures, swathed in coats and scarves, each carrying a blanket-wrapped bundle. One was much smaller than the other.
He stood in the center of an intricate rune circle, laid out in polished river stones, and waited for the figures to approach him.
He was cradled in his father’s arms as he and his mother marched across the snowy field, the cabin they’d rented for the week—where Maddie was still asleep—fading into the distance behind them.
He was slumped in a comfortable armchair in a house he had no business feeling safe enough to fall asleep in, exhaustion he could no longer ignore pulling him under.
He looked down at the sigil the stones formed in the snow. The lines were meticulously straight, the snow underneath them packed down in a perfect circle to form a smooth surface for the stones to lay on. He wondered if it would make it better or worse if there were signs of hesitance—a crooked stone where a hand had trembled; disturbed snow in other places in the field where someone paced back and forth, arguing with themselves or their spouse. Something to show that his parents had ever had a second thought. Had struggled with their decision for even a moment. Would it hurt more or less?
He lifted his head from his father’s shoulder, blinking as the cold, cold wind made his eyes water. He was tired and achy—he was always hurting and tired these days—and frowned as the bundle of blankets in Mom’s arms whimpered softly.
“It’s too cold for Ev to be out here,” he mumbled, the effort of holding his head up becoming too much. He snuggled back under Dad’s chin, felt his father’s arms tighten around him.
“It’ll be fine,” Dad said, but his voice sounded funny, fast and clipped, the way it got when the doctors started talking about things like ‘hospice’ and ‘pain management,’ the way it got when he didn’t want to hear what the person was saying. He licked his dry, cracked lips and kept watching his baby brother with a worried frown.
He heard Kinard’s voice across the room, but it sounded like the vampire was speaking through a long, long tunnel. He couldn’t make out the words. God, he was so tired. As soon as Grant’s coven stepped out of the house, it was like the entire day had caught up to him; he couldn’t keep his eyes open if he tried.
He watched his parents stop at the edge of the rune circle , watched his mother take a deep, steadying breath. She looked up at the moon, the silvered light doing nothing to soften the hard, determined lines of her face. Her familiar Gregor, a sharp-eyed Cardinal, was nowhere to be seen, nor was Hepzibah, the great gray cat his father was bonded with. He’d never known if his parents had forbidden their familiars from following or if they’d chosen not to, and he’d never had the courage to ask Sally. She’d always treated Gregor with the same polite disdain she treated his parents but she and Hepzibah had been cordial, if not exactly friends.
His mother walked into the center of the rune circle and he automatically stepped to one side, even though some part of him was aware that he wasn’t really here. He watched as she turned to face his father, shifting the tiny—so tiny, he was only a few months old when this all happened—bundle of blankets into one arm as she held out her hand to him. His head ached with the strange triple perspective of his experience: he was standing in the rune circle, he was curled in the surprisingly comfortable armchair in Kinard’s house, he was huddled in his father’s arms as he too stepped into the sigil lines and took his wife’s hand.
Kinard’s voice came again, louder this time, closer, but still muffled. The vampire touched his shoulder, shook it gently, but all he could do was mumble to himself, his eyes feeling weighed down, glued shut, his whole body feeling heavy and useless—the teleportation and the little display with Grant’s familiar had taken too much out of him for him to be able to shake himself out of the visions that always seemed so much harder to escape when he felt like this. His magic was a sputtering glow in the back of his mind, flickering tiredly as the vampire’s voice washed over him.
It was all right. He was safe with Tommy. He knew that.
He frowned, something in that thought catching at his brain, but he was too tired to parse it out.
He blinked slowly, watching with dull eyes as his mother knelt down in one section of the rune circle and laid the baby that was him down on the packed snow and unwrapping the blankets that swaddled him, exposing one tiny, tiny arm to the cold, cold air.
He stirred in his father’s arms, lifting his head again as his brother started wailing. “Dad—Dad it’s too cold,” he whispered urgently. “Mom? What’re you doing?”
“It’s all right Danny,” his mother said over her shoulder, pulling something out of her coat pocket that glinted briefly in the moonlight. She started chanting, the familiar language of spellcasting, but it sounded weird, somehow. Different. Not smooth and musical and warm…this sounded like music that was being played on a broken instrument.
“Mom?” he tried again, trying to wiggle out of Dad’s arms, but Dad just held him tightly. His stomach dropped, fear starting to spark through him. Mom just shook her head, still chanting, and she grabbed Evan’s (his, this had happened to him) arm and made a quick motion.
Evan (he—this had happened to him) started screaming. The high-pitched cries echoed in the snowy field and he tried to wiggle harder in Dad’s arms, tried to make him let him down so he could go to his baby brother. Evan was crying, Evan was scared, and this was wrong, this was all wrong. He didn’t have a familiar to help him with his magic, yet, but he could still feel it through the coven bonds and there was something wrong with it.
“Mom? Mama, don’t…don’t, he’s scared! Mama, you’re hurting him!” he cried, tears welling up in his eyes and spilling down his cheeks, the sick swoop of fear spreading through him, hot and cold at the same time. Something was wrong. Something was wrong, something was wrong, something was wrong…
A few drops of blood spattered on the snow underneath his baby brother.
He tried to blink away the vision—the memory—tried to banish it, to shake himself out of it, but he was so tired. He couldn’t force his eyes open, couldn’t make himself wake up. The fearful shouting, the discordant chanting, the wails of a baby in pain, it all blurred together and he tried to cover his face with his hands, to block out the sights, but he couldn’t…he wasn’t here, this wasn’t happening, this had already happened, and he couldn’t change it, couldn’t…
Solid arms slid under his body, and he was dimly aware of being lifted. Held. His head came to rest against someone’s shoulder, his cheek and forehead brushing strangely cool skin. Tommy. Almost instantly, the horrifying vision faded, growing dim and shadowy as Tommy’s strong, solid presence grew sharper in his senses. He wanted to ask what was going on, wanted to lift his head and see what the vampire was doing, but his body stubbornly refused to cooperate. It was all right. Tommy had him.
His magic hummed contentedly in the back of his mind, the calm certainty that all was well spreading over him like a warm blanket, pulling him further down into darkness. Tommy had him.
He was safe as long as Tommy had him.
*
Waking up in strange beds with only the vaguest notion of how he’d gotten there was starting to become a habit Evan reflected muzzily when he opened his eyes. He peered around the room a moment, trying to figure out what time it was—perhaps unsurprisingly, the windows were all fitted with thick blackout curtains, making it impossible to judge the time by the sunlight coming through the window. When he got up and flicked one curtain aside curiously, he found the window was also shuttered on the outside. Shaking his head, he made his way over to the room’s ensuite and did his morning business, taking a moment to examine his reflection in the mirror above the sink.
He looked better, if he did say so himself. He thought his face had more color, and there were no dark circles under his eyes. His five o’clock shadow from yesterday had crossed the line over into full-on scruff, but a cursory search through the cabinet under the sink turned up no shaving supplies, which he supposed made sense. Not like dead bodies (even if they were only technically dead) continued to grow hair.
Although…now he wondered how fixed a vampire’s appearance really was. He knew they could heal from just about any injury, barring beheading, incineration, or the classic stake through the heart. Though he was pretty sure he remembered Sally mentioning that said stake had to take out a pretty big portion of the vampire’s heart. Which implied that the heart’s ability to circulate a vampire’s blood had something to do with its healing, which implied they weren’t really dead. And back to his original point, if they could heal from any other injury in a matter of minutes or hours, did that mean their hair would grow back if they cut it or shaved it? How fast? Like, if a vampire was turned with a full beard, were they stuck with it forever? Or if they shaved it off, was that it? If they really overestimated how good they’d look with bangs, or had been one of those monks that did the weird, bald bowl cuts when they were turned, did they have to stay that way for all eternity?
He blinked, shaking his head before he could fall too far down into a rabbit hole of his own making. Like the bathroom at the loft, there was an only slightly suspect bottle of mouthwash under sink (he knew the brand, but he didn’t think the labels had had that design since he was in high school) and he took a swig of it, the sticky feeling in his mouth overcoming any worries he had about expiration dates.
He wondered why Tommy would keep mouthwash in his places at all…did he have human friends? Lovers? He paused at that thought, an odd feeling rushing through him. Tommy didn’t seem the type to keep a coven pet—one of the humans who gave themselves up as blood donors in exchange for money or protection or the promise of being turned eventually—and the lack of first aid supplies or, you know, food and drink in his safehouses didn’t indicate to Evan that humans were regular guests.
Shit, Evan was probably lucky there was toilet paper in the bathroom.
Sometime in the night, Tommy had deposited the bag of clothes he’d let Evan pick out from what he had on hand at the loft just inside the door, and Evan quickly changed into a fresh sweatshirt and a pair of track pants before wandering out of the bedroom and down the hall.
“Tom—” He stopped, suddenly realizing he’d been calling the vampire by his name in his head all morning…was about to call it out loud. “Uh, Kinard?” he finished, blinking rapidly and running a hand back through his hair. What the fuck? No. No, no, no that wasn’t good. Getting comfortable around the vampire was not a good idea, no matter how calm his magic felt around him, no matter how many times he seemed to be risking himself to protect Evan, no matter how generally…decent…Kinard seemed to be. A witch was never safe in the company of a vampire, and Evan needed to remember that.
The fact that he’d felt safer in the vampire’s company in the last day than he had in the last year (even if they had spent part of it fighting for their lives) didn’t matter.
Couldn’t matter.
“In here!” Kinard’s—Kinard, Kinard, Kinard, damn it—called from the living room. Evan made his way down the hall to find Kinard scrolling through his phone on the couch, a local news channel playing softly on an honest-to-God radio Evan hadn’t noticed sitting on one of the bookshelves last night. “Hey. Feeling better?” the vampire asked, looking Evan up and down as he walked over to the chair he’d fallen asleep in last night and dropped into it again.
He very determinedly did not think about the fact that Kinard must have carried him to bed like…okay, like some Victorian debutante last night. He tilted his head slightly and took stock of himself, closing his eyes for a moment and murmuring a mildly difficult conjuration spell. His magic leaps to his fingertips, the power coming easily and without strain.
He opened his eyes again with a smirk and lifted the steaming paper cup that had appeared in his hand to Kinard in a little toast. “I’m good, actually. Told you—sleep and carbs, and I’m good as new.” He lifted the conjured coffee—oatmilk latte, perfect—to his lips and took a sip, sighing in pleasure at the warm sweetness. He looked up to find Kinard staring at him intently. “What? Promise, I’m good.”
“If you’re sure,” Kinard said, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Just out of curiosity, how much of a side-eye would Howie be giving that fact?”
Evan sat up a little straighter, taking another deliberate sip of his drink. “Why do you ask?” he asked carefully. Kinard nodded to himself, as though Evan had answered his question. In a way, perhaps he had. Evan sighed. “It’s…complicated,” he allowed, twisting the paper cup back and forth in his hands. “I don’t—I don’t want to talk about it.”
Unbidden, the hazy image of a snowy, moonlit field rose in his mind—the sigil lines laid out so carefully, the echo of an infants wails, the splash of blood on the snow, black under the moonlight.
Memories.
Memories that weren’t his, but were indelibly etched in his mind and heart.
Kinard watched him for a few tense heartbeats, and then gave a short, sharp nod. “Fair,” he said. “All I ask is that you be honest with me if it’s going to affect our chances of survival, okay?”
Evan looked up at that, startled by the vampire’s easy acceptance of what had to be a very suspicious statement. “Fair,” he agreed. He frowned down into his drink. “So, uh, so you really think this is gonna come down to more fights? Your friends aren’t going to be able to figure everything out before the high coven catches up with us?”
Kinard cocked an eyebrow. “Evan. I may be a vampire, but I haven’t lived this long by believing in fairy tales.” His look turned assessing, and Evan was struck with the uncomfortable feeling that Tom—Kinard was really seeing him, in a way not a lot of people in his life ever had. “I kind of get the feeling you haven’t, either.”
Evan didn’t know what to say to that. He covered his discomfort by standing up and moving to the kitchen, setting his latte down on the counter so he could grab the remaining sandwich from yesterday out of the fridge. He gave the paper wrapping more attention than it strictly needed, listening with half an ear as Kinard levered himself to his feet and joined him.
“Howie texted me a list of places that Greenway hung out at a lot, as well as his home address last night. If we’re going to bait the high coven into that snipe hunt, we should probably be seen snooping around some of those places. Would they have been able to tell you recovered that flash drive from the, ah, the sideways?”
Evan chuckled, shaking his head. “The between,” he said deliberately, “wouldn’t be a very good hiding place if it was easy to tell when someone had been fishing around in it. I doubt anyone would be able to tell I took something from Greenway’s.”
“Then we should probably start at Greenway’s apartment—it’s likely they’re already watching the place.”
“What about the vampires we ran into?” Evan asked, taking a bite of the sandwich. It wasn’t nearly as good after sitting all night in the fridge, the vegetables wilted and a little slimy with the vinegar and oil dressing, but he was too hungry to care.
Tommy—fuck, Kinard, what was wrong with him?—crossed his arms over his chest, drumming the fingers of one hand against his opposite bicep thoughtfully. “Depends on how good Greenway was at covering his tracks.”
Evan frowned in confusion. “You don’t think they were working for this Gerrard guy?”
“That’s the most logical thing,” Kinard said slowly, but he didn’t sound as though he believed it. When Evan said as much, Kinard smiled ruefully. “Gerrard’s better at coven politics than I’ll ever be,” he admitted. “But this kind of conspiracy bullshit isn’t really his style. If Gerrard’s gunning for you, he wants you to know it. And I still don’t see any scenario where he didn’t keep you for himself if he knew Greenway was sending you to that party.”
“Maybe Greenway was just double crossing him? Trying to get him in trouble with the SoCal high coven?”
“The high coven has definitely been trying to find grounds to drive Gerrard out of LA,” Kinard mused.
“What? Why?”
“You mean apart from the fact that our kinds have hated each other as long as anyone can remember?” Kinard asked sardonically, and Evan rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, besides that.”
“Truce or no, witches don’t like having older vampires in their territory. The high coven doesn’t like me much, either. We’re harder to kill, we’re better at keeping discipline in our covens, and we attract more vampires to an area for the chance to join a powerful coven.”
“But you’re not the leader of your coven?”
Kinard shrugged, a faraway look entering his eyes. “I’ve never been interested in being anyone’s coven master. I still have standing in the local covens that my friends can benefit from—they either respect me too much or they’re too afraid of me to give my coven much shit. It works for us.”
Evan paused, setting the sandwich back down on the wrapper. He hadn’t realized Kinard held such a place of importance in his coven—although he probably should have. What, did he think a nearly thousand-year-old vampire would be low man on the pole? “Are you—are they gonna be able to help us any?”
Immediately, Kinard shook his head. “I don’t want them anywhere near this. Most of them are less than a century old—Sal and Alonzo could’ve handled that blond fucker in the office building yesterday just fine, but the rest? Especially with witch blood in the mix. Too dangerous.”
Evan swallowed hard. It was crazy, feeling anything like sympathy for a bunch of vampires. Hell, Kinard’s coven master had ordered him to kill Evan. But…they hadn’t asked to be involved in any of this any more than he had. And as much as he wanted to deny it, Kinard had proven to be a lot different than he’d been led to believe vampires were. Even knowing him for such a short time, Evan felt confident that Kinard wasn’t the same as Vincent Gerrard. Wasn’t the same as the vampires who had attacked them at Greenway’s office.
And Evan couldn’t see Tommy staying in a coven that was.
Kinard. Kin, God, all right, fuck it. Tommy.
His magic fairly sparkled in the back of his mind.
Tommy had a coven that obviously cared about him. That he cared about. Two days ago, Evan wouldn’t have really believed vampires were capable of caring about each other like that. Tommy had a coven. He described it as just a political alliance, but it was clear from the way he talked about them that Tommy considered his coven his family. Tommy had a coven.
Evan had no one. A familiar he had betrayed and humiliated. A sister he couldn’t contact without putting them both in terrible danger.
“You don’t have to do this, you know,” he said, not looking at Tommy.
“I don’t mind—not like our coven politics is a secret or anything. Alonzo won’t care what I tell you.”
Evan bit his lip. Nash’s familiar had sat next to him nearly the entire time Chimney was trying to open the files on Greenway’s flash drive. The familiar’s aura—not nearly as strong as Sally’s had been, nor even really as strong as Grant’s familiar’s was, but still so hauntingly known…like opening of a song he hadn’t heard played in forever but could still sing note for note—had pulsed against Evan’s magic, so much like the touch of Sally’s power and yet so completely different it hurt. Yet he hadn’t been able to bring himself to move away, to put distance between himself and the feeling of a coven bond. He hated the desperation that had swirled through him, the way he’d instantly craved any scrap of connection the familiar was willing to give him.
Evan had no coven. No family to go back to. No home. Evan…Evan had nothing more to lose, not really.
Tommy did.
“No,” Evan continued, still not daring to look the vampire in the eye. “No, I mean…all of it. You, uh, you can get out. You should. You should get out of this while you still can.” He finally took a peek at Tommy. The vampire looked as though he’d just been hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat. He was staring at Evan, his mouth slightly agape, a look of stunned surprise on his face.
“Evan—” he started, but Evan plunged on. While he still had the courage to do the right thing. Evan’s life was a mess, and had been from the moment he’d gotten a frantic, terrified call from his sister five years ago. And maybe Tommy’s life was just as complicated in it’s own way…but it didn’t have to be this complicated.
“No, listen,” he interrupted. “You said it yourself…you don’t want your coven anywhere near this. There’s no guarantee it doesn’t come back on them no matter what we do. And those vampires knew who you were! Next time, they’ll be ready for you. The high coven will have put a kill order out on you. Tom—Kinard, you don’t have to be involved in this. I’m the one they’re after.”
“Pretty sure my chance to back out of this ended with that fight in the office, kid,” Tommy said dismissively, and Evan shook his head in frustration.
“Just say I spelled you! You can pin all this on me! I can put a hex on you. Something minor, something you can break easy…your coven can lodge a complaint with the high coven and they’ll sense the magic still on you. You go in all pissed that I controlled you, give them some details, show you’re cooperating. As old as you are, they’ll believe I wasn’t able to hold a hex long term. They’ll be so focused on finding me, they should leave you guys alone. You can walk away.”
Tommy was still staring at him, a new light in his eyes that Evan wasn’t sure he wanted to identify. “Evan,” he said again, softly.
But whatever he was going to say next was interrupted when the alarm box by the front door suddenly went off with a piercing, insistent wail.

Do you have any info posts about witches in game?
I do now
1. Witches are mentioned the most in season one of the OG game because Mammon is still under the thumb of three of them. He got into trouble with a particularly nasty group of witches, Mammon says it was three, other believe it was up to ten. They tried forcing him to make a pact but Lucifer told them to cut Mammon into pieces instead and somehow in the end he just ended up as a chauffeur/errand boy for them.
2. It’s mentioned Asmodeus once brought a witch home and she turned into a spider to hide from Lucifer but he still found her.
3. In a Devilgram, the Great Witch Maddi is introduced. She is apparently still youthful in appearance despite being thousands of years old and this is due to her power. She stayed in the Devildom and attempted to make Diavolo marry her. She also made Mammon cry once and whenever she visits, Diavolo avoids her and has Satan and Lucifer handle her because she likes attractive men.
4. Another witch mentioned only in season one is Helene. She was a strong witch who was trapped in a painting and villainized after having a relationship with Asmodeus which started a war.
5. Another witch mentioned in season one with some dialogue is Grisella. She created a book that switches bodies and predicted it would help Satan and Lucifer’s relationship and she is described as being their fan. She was later murdered by her helper when she refused to mentor him because she knew her time was coming soon. Her spirit helps solve her own murder before she moves on.
6. In a game event, Lucifer claims there are witches powerful enough to cover the Devildom in snow.
7. Mammon implies that witches are supposed to be able to see the future.
8. Witches are often mentioned as living in the Devildom which is something humans don’t do as Solomon and MC are mentioned as being the first, so witches are considered a separate species/Demi-human. Although in season one they are also mentioned to live in the human world as Mammon got into trouble with those witches too.
9. A witch mentioned only once is Artemisia. Diavolo says he hasn’t visited her in a while and Lucifer declined visiting as he owes her favors after what happened with Mammon.
10. Mammon believes novice witches are easy targets for scams and that he can pay Levi pack this way.
11. In season two Diavolo mentions a witch’s sabbath. He instructs how others should handle a witch who requests a summoning without an application in advance. This implies that demons and witches have contractual agreements and that witches have to request to summon a demon before doing so.
12. Solomon says he associates with witches on occasion.
13. Witches are the ones who let Solomon know when the strange phenomenon in the human world inadvertently caused by MC finally ended.
14. In season three Mammon mentions that once when Asmodeus fell sick a bunch of demons and witches showed up and turned it into a party.
15. In season three Mammon mentions he has to be used to the human world because of always serving the witches. It’s also implied Lucifer doesn’t know the extent of it and if he did he’d probably interfere.
16. In season three, Diavolo mentions doing business in the human world due to demand for magical products by the witches and sorcerers who live there.
17. Cats are a common familiar of witches. We know this because in season three Satan kidnapped a bunch of cats for a cat cafe and Barbatos returned them all to the witches who owned them.
18. Mammon is mentioned as often receiving shady items from witches. I’m season four it’s mentioned one gift was given to him by a witch as congratulations for repaying her.

Okay so I briefly mentioned having a theory about this to @pandapantslovesyou in the notes on one of my posts and then completely forgot about it ✌️
The Witch Theory 🧙
Okay so from Obey Me! we know:
• Witches are somehow different from sorcerers.
• Sorcerers are registered at the Sorcerer's Society and need a licence to practice magic in The Human World
• There's always a distinction made when they (specially Mammon) talks about witches vs MC & Solomon (who are sorcerers)
• It's not a gender thing because MC (they/them pronouns in the game - undetermined gender depending on the players) is a sorcerer
• Sorcerers and Witches can both potentially make pacts with demons
• The demons and angels were at war for a long time. This affected their relationship with The Human World as well. By the end of the war the three worlds were at peace but (for the most part) kept closed off from each other:
a.) Despite The Celestial Realm, The Human World & The Devildom being the three big worlds and so Angels, Humans and Demons being the three main species, we've seen there are other species, capable of higher cognition, that have a smaller presence and so weren't as directly inlvolved in the war & have more freedom moving between the realms. Eg: Reapers who have contacts with humans & demons (& presumably angels as well), ghosts who live and work freely in the Devildom, fairies who lived in both the human world and Devildom but later moved out of the human world, banshees, centaurs, dragons, yetis/the snowmen
• Demons can further be broken down into sub-species (or if you want to be technical/biological about it; Angels, Humans Great Apes, Demons are different biological families. Demons can be broken down into different genera so the "lesser demons" mentioned in-game would be one genus. These can further be broken down into different specific species;) Such as the Sins, Incubi, Succubi, the little Ds and those little ant sized demons (these can't only be considered as different races/ethnicities the way humans have because there are very significant biological changes between them <ant-sized vs Sins> rather than being differentiated due to culture, environment/location & small changes in appearance, though it's quite possible the Devildom has different races/ethnicities as well <The Night Lantern People>. Most possibly the different species of the people of the Devildom acts as another factor in defining their different cultures and so defining their ethnicities)
b.) Until Diavolo's exchange program, which opened those boundaries back up. S1's exchange program can be considered something of a pilot study and, as with Simeon & Luke being the first angels in the Devildom, Solomon & MC are the first humans.
• Though the general citizens become more accepting of the presence of humans (and angels) in the Devildom, as the game & events progress, the exchange program is never expanded at a larger scale (with only two new students - neither a human). And even in S4 there are still those that are against the whole exchange program and everything it stands for.
• HOWEVER, witches are present in The Devildom. They're just casually there, despite originally being from The Human World, supposedly being human and humans outside of Solomon & MC not being allowed in The Devildom. Despite the brothers actually questioning how human Solomon can be considered given how old he is and MC displaying many non-human characteristics starting from S1 itself, neither are allowed to stay long term in the Devildom without supervision/without an affiliation to Diavolo/RAD because at the end of the day they're still more human than anything else. Witches however are just living in the Devildom with no seeming connection to RAD or the exchange program.
• Furthermore; Maddi arrives in The Devildom from The Human World. Given who she is (one of the oldest and most powerful witches) she should be considered one of the leading figures of the magic users in The Human World. Aka one of the most important figures, in this context, from one of the Big Three Worlds that have been maintaining a tenuous peace for thousands of years. Though The Human World isn't one of the main warring factions this should still be given at least a somewhat similar significance to Michael visiting The Devildom. At the very least Diavolo should be there to greet her given how peace & balance is his goal and rightfully she should be a main part of achieving that. BUT, though they treat her with respect and go out of their way to meet her wishes it's not given this significance. Diavolo deliberately doesn't come out to meet her and has apparently already met her during previous visits.
And those are all the canon facts.
The main theory then?
Witches aren't humans.
Or rather they're a subspecies of humans (or maybe more accurately they're, like humans, a species originating from the genus homo that never went extinct like the neanderthals & rest).
Appearance-wise they're more or less physically indistinguishable from humans. The main thing that seperates them is their magic.
They're much lesser in number than humans but unlike humans, where only a select few have magic, all witches have magic.
Their magic could be more natural? Whenever I think of witches I think of little cabins in the woods and large cauldrons and that always makes me think of nature. But more seriously, the sorcerers have their Society and need a licence to practice magic - this gives the impression of strict rules and a very rigid system. The game never makes a connection between the Sorcerer's Society and how witches practice magic. So what if this is because their magic is more natural and doesn't fit into the rigidity of the Sorcerer's Society.
They're different enough a species than humans (& much lesser in number) that they fall into that small group of species that weren't as affected by the post-war regulations. Meaning like the fairies they were able to travel easily to The Devildom despite living in The Human World
Anyway that's my theory 😮‍💨
All those words to essentially say that Obey Me!'s humans & witches have whatever The Owl House's humans & witches got going on
