New ancestor work deck just dropped with 82 CARDS 👀👀

James is a spiritual person and, when feeling anxious about their relationship with Regulus, they consult their tarot cards. They used them to gain courage to ask him out, to gain courage to kiss him the first time, etc.

For months, they've been using their tarot cards to ensure that Regulus does love them and he wouldn't react badly if they told him. One summer away from Hogwarts, with Regulus forever away in France and James up late at night, they consult the cards one more time.

They decide that they are sure, despite the cards giving them mixed messages this time and warning them not to be overbearing, that they want to tell him that they love him. They know they do. There's not a doubt about it. They've loved him for a month into their relationship, and it's going on a year now. They have to tell him.

So they text him in the middle of the night, a quick, "You don't have to say it back, but I need to tell you that I love you." And hope that their dear night-owl is asleep because he was telling them that they were exhausted earlier in the day. They immediately shut their phone off and force themself to go to sleep.

The next morning, they have a text waiting on their phone, just reading, "I love you too, you fucking idiot." And James feels like they could take on the world. But they also miss himself dearly and just want to hold and kiss their boyfriend.

Judgement

upright: resurrection, reflection, reckoning, judgement, and awakening. reversed: lack of self-awareness, doubt, self-loathing.

Yet another tarot card edit, this time for my Curse of Strahd character, Avra! She's a shadar-kai/reborn phantom rogue who was brought back from the dead by the Raven Queen to serve as her chosen assassin. She was sent to Barovia to kill a rogue lich, but one of the people meant to help her (a raven given human form by the Raven Queen) has made a bargain with him instead...

Her epithet in my notes is "the revenant", and I think it's pretty obvious why. And also pretty obvious why she gets the Judgement card. (Resurrected from the dead, brings her goddess's judgement upon people, etc.)

In this case the reversed version of the card is also fitting, or at least it most likely will be as her arc progresses... (Though the "lack of self-awareness" is pretty accurate, given recent events in the campaign.)

Oh, and of course I had to include a raven looking down on Avra. The Raven Queen does keep a very close eye on her, even now that she's in Barovia...

I decided to put everyone into one post and to talk about some assosications I have with the characters and their cards

The Fool (Folly, mania, extravagance, intoxication, delirium, frenzy, bewrayment. [If the card is] Reversed: Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.) Of course it is Han Juwon in the begining if the story. "In many esoteric systems of tarot card interpretation, the Fool is interpreted as the protagonist of a story, and the Major Arcana are the path the Fool takes through the great mysteries of life." He is a Fool afterall: careless in his investigation, doesn't think about the people around him. He thinks he is the smartest guy in the room and the bestest boy in the area.

The Lovers. Here I decided to interpret it in the most literal way. But the card itself provides quite a nice explanation too. "6. THE LOVERS.—Attraction, love, beauty, trials overcome. Reversed: Failure, foolish designs. Another account speaks of marriage frustrated and contrarieties of all kinds." I really love the ending. The whole reunion thing is straight out of the romance story. That's why I chose this image to represent this card. The moment of piece at last.

The Hermit. When I first thought about this collage idea I was absolutly sure who should represent this card. "9. THE HERMIT. Prudence, circumspection; also and especially treason, dissimulation, roguery, corruption. Reversed: Concealment, disguise, policy fear, unreasoned caution."

The High Priestess. Oh Jihwa my beloved. There were several posts about her recently. She is a wonderful character. "Secrets, mystery, the future as yet unrevealed; the woman who interests the Querent, if male; the Querent herself, if female; silence, tenacity; mystery, wisdom, science. Reversed: Passion, moral or physical ardor, conceit, surface knowledge." Tell me this is not about her, I'll wait.

The Sun. The Moon. The Star. I thought it would be really symbolic to choose three young (and dead) characters to represent this cards. (of course, LDS is alive and old now but I think we can considr his younger self to be buried somewhere really deep in his mind. He wasn't the same person he'd been before his sister disappearance). Another thoought that I had in mind while making these three pieces was that scene from the first episode. The dialogue with Mother and her friend. "You are so lucky to have your daughter. Such a pity the God decided to balance it with your son." How almost everyone thought that Lee Yuyeon was a blessing and her brother - just a delinquent.

19.THE SUN.—Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment. Reversed: The same in a lesser sense.

18.THE MOON--Hidden enemies, danger, calumny, darkness, terror, deception, occult forces, error. Reversed: Instability, inconstancy, silence, lesser degrees of deception and error.

17.THE STAR.--Hope and bright prospects, Reversed: Loss, theft, privation, abandonment; another reading says: arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.

Kang Minjeong is a little star flickered out too soon.

The Magician. "Tarot experts have defined the Magician in association with the Fool". "While the upright Magician represents potential and tapping into one's talents, the reversed Magician's potential and talents are unfocused and unmanifested."

The Strength. One of my favourite cards and my favourite brave girl. I need to come clean I am not a fan of a lor of women portrayals in asian culture. But Yoo Jaeyi just stole my heart. She is kind, she is angry, she is loving, she is grieving. She is real. She is her own person. I love this image of her. "8. FORTITUDE.—Power, energy, action, courage, magnanimity; also complete success and honours. Reversed: Despotism, abuse of power, weakness, discord, sometimes even disgrace."

The Devil. Do I even need to explain myself? Well probably yes. Another candidate for this card was you guessed it - Han Kihwan. But after some thinking I finally decided on this one. "15. THE DEVIL.—Ravage, violence, vehemence, extraordinary efforts, force, fatality; that which is predestined but is not for this reason evil. Reversed: Evil fatality, weakness, pettiness, blindness." While Juwon's father is the evil person and the real villain of the story I do consider Kang Jinmuk the Devil.

he's so selfish.

he gave into the comforts of the manor too easily. the free yet quality booze that makes you feel all warm inside, the heavy meals served everyday, warm sofa cushions padding your back. he got used to it so quickly it stopped seeming like a privilege.

in moments like these he often remembers gertrude, how she's probably somewhere out there praying for his - presumably dead - body to at least be found in one piece. it has been too long since he left home in order to pursue a chance of a comfortable life for the two of them. no one would think he survived.

the unfairness of it all is what hurts him the most. how shameless of him is indulging in luxuries when his most beloved is probably rationing a two-day's portion of bread? there's probably a way to escape - but maybe he just doesn't want to.

the fastest way to cope is to indulge in those same luxuries over and over, day by day. a lavish life that would otherwise cost one a fortune is easily available to any resident. haunted by the past? down a bottle of wine with the other nobodies to forget your sorrows. or two, if one doesn't give you the kick you need. stressed? ring the butler, serve yourself and light a cigarette. don't mind the ash and the butts staining the velvet covers since it's not your duty to clean up. nothing's working yet? there's enough concoctions and drugs in the basement to take them recreatively.

he might not look like the type, but he has tried them all. he stopped with some, though, but mostly because they don't work anymore. the others, guilt. luckily his alcohol tolerance remained the same through the years and - although on very rare occassions - just a puff from a cigarette helps him unwind a bit. his two trusty companions when his head pulses from thinking too hard and the weight on his chest makes it difficult to move a muscle.

not a single speck of high taste in his actions. he doesn't chug the wine with vigour like demi or josé and whatever he smokes slips out of his fingers 'cause of his clumsy grip. the devilish temptations are splayed on the low table in front of him like a tarot deck and he slowly takes in whatever his gut finds appropriate for the moment.

he's not addicted, it's not like he'll die from withdrawal, it's just (sadly) the quickest and most effective way of avoiding his problems.

only a handful of people know about his destructive habit, and the secret hasn't spread any further since he first joined. the same way of coping with guilt and shame results in more of guilt and shame, creating a vicious cycle. especially since many newbies admire him, a veteran, for persisting for so long in the games and remaining near the top of the food chain. it's not an image one should uphold, let alone someone with his reputation.

as time passed, this means of escape became more like a ritual, way less frequent and if not more important.

besides, the end is inevitable. it has been haunting him from the very beginning, day and night. visions of chaos intrude on his peace of mind everyday and there's no way he can avoid them.

it's only a matter of time before this garden of eden turns to ash. the end is near, but what hurts the most is he's the only one who knows what's coming.

one may assume the influence of jerry carl upon him has dwindled with time. it has been years since aesop joined in the survivor faction and started interacting with others. he already has a set of prepared phrases to use in daily communication. to most, this might give off an impression of someone skilled in socializing - of course, this is all just learned behavior.

even with him gone, jerry did build the foundation on which aesop carl's whole being is constructed. he taught him the ropes, how to prepare the dead - or the living - for a safe departure to the other side. jerry nullified every speck of empathy that may have resided in him once, for he's just a third faction in this exchange of life and death, not somebody who can choose between mercy and violence.

his profession is what he is. he can't remember the last time he worked with a real human body, although that just might be the effect of the memory distorting drugs he unknowingly took during his stay. with no real purpose, no need for his kind, aesop carl started to crumble.

his life has been on a downward spiral ever since he stepped foot into the manor. "oh, but he embalms the puppets!" - aren't they just a disgrace to his craft!? they're nothing but a perversion of what should be the most graceful and important duty on this earth. turning cloth into skin, rice filling into flesh, doesn't all this just scream idolatry? playing god? the dead are supposed to rest, not come back to life! it's completely reversing the natural process!

he dreams of being of use again, to finally be praised and admired instead of scrutinized and avoided. the same people that treat him like a creep beg for his aid when their body lays limp in the hunter's hands.

he wants to work with real people again. sometimes he drifts off and finds himself picking out the best candidate for embalming. fantasizes of their tranquil expression, the faint traces of warmth on the skin after they die. blood trailing down the curves of their body and him gently wiping it, their life taken with just one little scar that he'll patch up anyway.

it doesn't have to always be someone else, though. he's often enarmored in thoughts about his own death. he has already decided he'll stuff his usual coffin which he uses in matches with the softest padding he can find and the freshest yellow roses from the garden. maybe he'll overdose? smoothly transport his mind from one world to another? if things don't get better, this solution is always available.

his own little funeral, fit for a prince. he has to treat himself with care, no? his frail frame has already been damaged enough.

he sometimes avoids visiting emily after matches since he'd rather suffer than engage in unnecessary conversations. he's pretty sure his left rib is broken and his right knee makes concerning noises when he puts a lot of pressure on it. not to mention the amount of times he dislocated his knees and ankles. it's all good until it hurts to breathe while running and he gets hit in the same spot over and over again until he coughs up blood. hunters catch up with weak spots faster than one may think.

the smartest decision would be letting the expert heal him, but aesop knows emily would mercilessly scold him beforehand. he often finds starting arguments and conflicts fun, but this one he wants to avoid under any circumstances.

despite how torn he is between morals his mentor showed him and morals imposed by the society he's now part of, jerry undeniably cared for aesop. he was like a father he never had. he's starving for praise, just a whiff of validation coming from somebody he knows. he's the only person that truly knew his worth.

maybe all this physical pain is a good omen, a sign that he'll pass by natural causes soon. he learned a lot about other interpretations of reality and death from fiona's seances and the religious residents' prayers. he hopes this feeling he has is right and, maybe, he'll meet jerry again in the afterlife.

Pulling the Sun card without pulling the Sun card

I'm reminded that I'm a bébé. As the first person to end several cycles in my family, of course I don't fkcn know what I'm doing. In previous meditations I've seen my ancestors going 🤷🏻 bc they don't have advice but are curious to see what I'll do. U mean I have to be responsible for my own choices?? Fine

Samhain is approaching and the veil is thinning. It’s the time to connect with the ancestors and collective dead. It’s the time to practise scrying or divination.

For your altar, decorate with natural things from your areas to honour the local land spirits and dead. Fallen leaves, acorns etc. carve or decorate a pumpkin for your altar or windowsill. Gather some local grave yard dirt for your altar if permission is given by the graveyard grim.

Practice divination with any tool you are drawn to. Traditionally it’s a time of scrying and all you need is a dark colour bowl filled with water and a darkened room lit only by candlelight (ensuring candles are not near anything flammable and secure in holders). The water you gaze into should be reflected by candlelight, soften your gaze as you look into your scrying bowl, it does take time and practice but stick with it and keep a note book close by for journaling.

You can also practice your tarot technique as well. Do a reading for yourself or even for the energy of the season. Maybe gather some friends together and do a group reading too.

Honour your ancestors by placing photos of passed loved ones on an altar for the ancestors. You could also add graveyard dirt,found animal bones, herbs associated with the dead etc and can be as simple or as fancy as you like. You can even offer the ancestors an offering. I often do one of incense, candle light and blessed water. I often do this around the dark moon and say the following to them during my offerings

On my ancestor altar (above) I have my late husband, my father and grandparents, aunts and uncles and even a passed beloved pet cat!

I give my offerings and say my words which I share with you here.

“Ancestors, I call to you now to be here with me now and always. Accept these offerings with the love they are given. I offer you Earth the grounding element to secure, I offer you water, the spiritual pure element. I offer you incense the air element for communication. I offer you a candle, the fire element for light and warmth. Ancestors accept these simple offerings in love and remembrance. Beloved Ancestors feed on this earth, smoke, water and light to nourish and strengthen you. Blessed be”

You can tailor the words to suit you and your ancestors and doing this on Samhain and every dark moon helps to strengthen the bond.

Enduring Roots Legacy Challenge

A seven generation Sims 4 legacy challenge based on some of the plants found in the base game. Focus on gardening and some supernatural gameplay.

Required Packs: None

Optional Packs (for some alternate aspirations/traits & optional goals): Basically all of them. This challenge is meant to adapt to whatever packs you have, whether that be none or all.

Getting started: Aging can be set to whatever you prefer, including being turned off entirely. Gen 1 can be created alone, or with a spouse, sibling, parents, etc., and can be of any age. The listed aspiration does not have to be picked as the sim's first one; they just need to work on (and ideally complete) it at some point in their lives. This challenge is meant to be flexible and guide storytelling, not to be intentionally difficult, so feel free to make changes to the rules where you need to.

Currently play-testing. As I do, and as new packs release, I may make some changes. 

Generation 1: Orchard 

Always bright as a summer’s day, and beloved by everyone you’ve met, sometimes you’ve been told you’re too much of a good thing. And that some quirks are just not endearing. It’s not your fault you can see things others can’t, and you refuse to pass up the opportunity to make a friend, living or dead.

Traits: Cheerful, Erratic [or Cringe (for rent), Clumsy, or Macabre (life & death)], Outgoing [or Dog Lover (cats & dogs), Cat Lover (cats & dogs), Animal Enthusiast (cottage living), or Horse Lover (horse ranch)]

EXR-PR9, known as codename: rogue , real name: ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ ⬛⬛⬛⬛, is a rogue expendable from the operations to recover crystals and data from the hadal blacksite

Age:20

A 5,10 male human with silver hair, fair skin, blue eyes, and a slim figure, seen armed and dangerous, wearing a Altered diving suit, with dark colours and casual clothes over it, along with a pair of goggles

apon arriving at the hadal black site EXR-PR9 cut the PDG out of his suit, using a makeshift knife, after which the other expendables in the group attempted to detain him to the submarine resulting in him knocking them unconscious before leaving, the team has not been heard from since, assumed to be killed

Through data in the blacksite cameras and more, we have gathered that EXR-PR9 has become well-equipped, to the point where EXR-PR9 could theoretically survive indefinitely. It is beloved that EXR-PR9 is working with Sebastian solace, who has denied all allegations of working with the rogue.

although well-armed, EXR-PR9 is not dangerous and is unlikely to attack unless provoked, or met with blacksite officials, and is non-threating to expendables

a normal human, EXR-PR9 should be treated with respect, and avoided if you have had a bad interaction with them before, they seem willing to help expendables, as shown in past expeditions, but meeting EXR-PR9 is done at your own risk

If possible, killing this rogue would be advised, however, due to the dangerous nature of EXR-PR9 it's considered a high risk operation

If these documents are shown to unauthorized personnel, you'll be put up for demotion, and any cover-up fees will be sent to your relatives.

As we were trying to conceptualize the second Oracle Card for Star of Inanna, many things came into our discussion. One of which was to have something about the Bull, since for some reasons, the ancient civilizations were obsessed with these animals. The Sumerian crown of divinity is also said to have pairs of bull horns on it. Though that subject led through many interesting corridors of research, we finally decided instead to go with this card expressing the Unconditional Love that Inanna has for her subject. Just like the wild Descent oracle card that can appear anywhere in the deck, we feel this Divine Love card can also manifest anywhere in your reading when you need it most. The message here reminds us that the unconditional love and light from the Goddess and higher beings always surround us. We only need to find a moment of stillness to tune into ourselves despite all the chaos and heartbreak. Personally, I (Rubi) believe in self empowerment AND that divine connection can only happen when we are deeply in touch with our core essence. No matter how hard Inanna or our higher help tries to assist us, if we are only open to the brutal external circumstances and close ourselves off to the inner guidance, they can’t reach us. They can’t resonate and activate that which is divine within us because we deny it ourselves. The painting for this card depicts the scene where Enheduanna in her exile wrote the hymns to celebrate Inanna, her beloved Goddess late in the night. While her home temple in Ur fell into the hand of the usurper Lugalanne, being stripped of her title, thrown out of her city into the land of the dead, she managed to find the immovable center within her to connect with Inanna and plead for the return of justice. As the world’s first known author, a prominent historical figure of Earth, Enheduanna’s appearance helps ground the deck into our human timeline.

Agatha All Along 1x07 with mentions of my boy again, my apologies

Hello again. We are at the beginning of my 2nd watching of this episode, so I can polish my review. Except I haven't even finished watching it the first time: I had the episode paused at the very beginning of the credits, because of that song. Okay, let's get through this…

We finally see Lilia again - only to cut away from her without explanation. Argh, what is patience?! What, was she resurrected just for her trial? Give me answers!

"I have a mom." Awwww <3. Good thing Billy can't remember his previous life or he might not have accepted the Kaplans, even after 3 years.

"Is Wanda Maximoff really dead?" - "Yes. … No. Maybe." Pfft, it's like when Peter asked Raven if Magneto is really a bad guy XD. Wait a minute! There's more than just the structure in common here! It's a Maximoff asking their reference person (Is there a film/TV term for a character who's another character's main contact point?) - who's a baddie but not really - about one of their birth parents.

"Did you see a body?" Look at him using his brain! I like it when characters do that.

"Hey, you want straight answers, ask a straight lady." LOLs were had. I love her, your honor.

I'm loving all the banter, but then the mood takes a turn. Ouchie. And I wonder if Agatha's definition of success will change. After all, what's the point of living if you have nothing to live for?

Agatha in disbelief over Billy not believing her, but she doesn't look crushed. Maybe someone who sees through her facade is exactly what she needs.

Daaamn, horns look good on Billy (very nice outfit & make up, 11/10). Which is obviously a reference to his multiverse uncle, our beloved Mr. Horny Stiffy.

Lilia & Jen are alive! \o/

Ooh, here we have Lilia's predictions in order. It's so satisfying when stories give you enough information to put the pieces together and then confirm that you did it right.

We're in an earth tunnel with not much happening and yet the story is so good! Exposition, feelings, bonding!

"We're not cool, Teenager." - "Damn, using his full name." XD

Loving the Dory reference. Loving even more that Jen is defending Lilia.

"I was doing a reading for you." - "That's right." Billy remembers the bar mitzvah! So is he also still William or just got his memories?

Lilia really only cast the sigil because Billy needed time? I mean, it makes sense, but it's so anticlimactic.

That Maestra is great, I wish I could put it into better words.

Ooh, I didn't expect to get more of Lilia and Jen bonding.

Jen calls Lilia's mind travelling in time a "mental walkabout" and I wonder if that was a very deliberate choice of words. As a Lost fan that show is the first thing I think of when I hear "walkabout" (though that word might be far more common than I'm aware) and it had a character's mind uncontrollably time-travelling. Actually apart from Lost and AAA, there's only one other example of mental time travel that I can remember (not that I have a memory like a sieve) and that was Logan's controlled journey to 50 years in the past. But let's not talk too much of X-Men. ahahaha

Heyyy, Billy's spell book! So I guess the Salem Seven pick it up and then lost it in the tunnel.

As Billy calls himself the queerent, Agatha gives him a fake laugh. Jeez, girl, you didn't invent the queer puns, let others have them too!

"Am I William or am I Billy?" Yeeess, let's answer this already! He is so focussed on the important questions this episode, I love it.

The disappointment that punched me in the gut when I realized that what Billy and Lilia had been talking about earlier in the ep wasn't the tarot reading from his bar mitzvah but from the trial. This non-linear editing is so cruel. Hey, show, I didn't a demonstration of what it's like to be Lilia!

Reunion, huh? How ambiguously worded. If there isn't some disappointment ahead, I'll eat my tinfoil hat. Hey, in German we say "broom" instead of "hat" - combined those objects might refer to a witch. Fascinating.

Hahaha, Agatha hating on the subjectivity of tarot.

There was a subway station for real! But what is it doing there? And a little fun fact: That underground tech reminds me of Lost's hatch. Wait a second, it was mentally time-travelling Desmond who lived in down there!

So proud of Jen choosing to go with Lilia instead of the subway.

Jen has immense spiritual power? Man, am I looking forward to seeing that in action!

Oh, is that a crown on Rio (and what is she holding in her left hand)? Since she's the Green Witch, I'm assuming those crowns mean that their wearers are the most powerful in their category. Wait, so Billy's is blue and if the shade doesn't matter, that would make him the heir of Evanora, so it's super fitting that Agatha is mentoring him. But what does the blue even mean? I thought it represented water as in potions, but that doesn't work with Billy. But if Jen has spiritual power, maybe that's what she has in common with Billy: I have no idea what exactly they mean by "spiritual" and if it intersects with Agatha's spirit witch stuff, but the spirit is the mind, so that would fit with Billy's mental powers.

Rio is actually Death herself, not just one among many reapers as I had assumed. Man, that workload must be insane, she's gotta have underlings! Anyway, why was she appearing in the tunnel? Did she save Lilia and Jen from drowning in the mud? Does she have more things planned for them?

The roots are glowing green and I'm confused. Since I had the thought that the Witches' Road must be Death's invention, it wouldn't make sense for Rio to have a trial. And neither would having that trial in the penultimate episode already… unless that last one is a denouement ep. Oh, please, no, I don't handle those well.

I love that by turning the tower card, the room turns as well. Lilia defeating the Salem Seven* is awesome too, I just wish this show wasn't so deadly for its main characters! *I hope that's what's happened here, but are they even alive and thus killable in such mundane ways? God, I hope Lilia did more than just buy her coven some time.

See? See?! If the Salem Seven are gone, that only leaves Rio as the villain, so if she's up next, that sounds incredibly anticlimactic for the final episode. Maybe that's why we get eps 8 & 9 together. Oh, or it's a two-parter, yes, yes. *fingers crossed*

What exactly is that last scene trying to tell us? That time is circular, you're dead now, but one day you'll be born again? Or that even right before the end, Lilia was skipping through time, living some more?

Very familiar guitar notes playing. Credits start, the song dares to continue *gasp* YOU DO NOT PLAY THAT SONG! UNLESS YOU ALSO MEAN SOMETHING ELSE BY IT! They can't be fucking with us that badly, can they? Nah, they mean the MCU will come full circle with the Fox X-Men and one in particular. Everything is fiiiine, lalalalala.

In conclusion: Another great episode, right in the fucking feels though. So mean to give me amazing character stories only to take away the characters right after!
