I miss doing sims stuff. It's been almost a month since I've really done anything sims-related (other than the Rook outfit), and I miss it SO much. Hopefully now that I'm done with classes (I just have a few exams next week and then I'm done for real), I'll have the time and brain energy to do sims stuff more often.

Idk that I'm going to get anything interesting posted by the end of April, but May... I have plans for May. It's Rook's birthday in May!!! (Both in terms of when I first played him and when he was born in-universe, actually, though the two are not the same date.)

If I don't finally finish and edit this one render by his birthday, I'm going to lose my mind, because it's been a WIP for almost a year now. (Don't worry, it's not an angsty one. As much as I love tormenting him, it's time I gave him a break, at least on the render front.)

(P.S. - Good luck on exams to anyone who is currently in school!! You're gonna kill it!!!)

Lord Captain Xandra von Valencius, Rogue Trader of the Imperium

Following the unexpected death of Her Ladyship Theodora von Valencius and her known heir, a bladedancer named Xandra has taken the Lord Captain's seat. While she may be new to the role of Rogue Trader, Xandra von Valencius is far from a nobody. In fact, this isn't the first time she's been referred to as nobility. Prior to the reveal of her von Valencius heritage, Xandra made a name for herself as a crime lord on a hostile death world, wrangling the scattered pirates into a formidable fleet. Rumor says she ruled ruthlessly until she was captured by a rival gang. No one knows what happened to her in the 3 months she was missing, but when she returned, having single-handedly slaughtered the entire gang responsible for her capture, Xandra was changed. Having attracted much attention with her recent ascension to Lord Captain, it seems that Her Ladyship is eager not to fall into enemy hands. In addition to Xandra's own skills with blades, rumor says that she is accompanied by an eerie death cultist who never leaves her side. Will the new Rogue Trader grow the dynasty's glory, or will she be the reason the von Valencius name is struck from the history books? Time will tell if the skills she used to gain and keep control of her criminal empire will serve her well as Lord Captain. If you couldn't tell by the top half of this post, I started playing Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader a couple weeks ago. I bought the game on my birthday because it just happened to be on sale, and in the past 2 weeks I've racked up 31 hours. Which isn't much compared to my playtime in WotR when I first started playing, but it's pretty impressive given my workload. I've been having a ton of fun!! This is Xandra, and yes, she's a (space) pirate who was captured and tortured. I have a type, apparently.

I imagine that the 2nd outfit (the long coat) is her adventuring outfit (lots of pockets plus belts for weapons and such), and the other more uniform-looking outfit is her "ceremonial" outfit. (She's never going to get more formal than that.)

Also, if anyone else plays Rogue Trader and hasn't played the Void Shadows DLC, I highly recommend it. Kibellah is awesome, and the Bladedancer archetype is SO much fun to play. (Yes, I'm running a party that's 1/3rd Bladedancer Assassins. Surprisingly, it works really well. They are VERY efficient little murder machines.)

one of my friends asked me to make a sim and render of her dnd character for a campaign she's playing in so she can use it as character art, and I feel so honored??? Like, wtf??? A bunch of people who don't know what simblr is are going to see one of my renders??

And not only that, but this character is literally the most Morri character you can possibly get: A tiefling pirate captain rogue. (Not a Swashbuckler, but she is a Phantom, which is the subclass that Avra is, and might be my 2nd favorite rogue subclass.)

I'm very excited to see how this turns out, and I hope she likes it!! (I've been sending her wip/progress pics as I work to make sure she's liking how it's coming along, and so far she's been loving it. But now comes the hardest part: figuring out a pose that properly conveys the vibes.)

In other news, I've had a Rook render that's basically done for almost a year now, and I'm determined to finish it for Rook's birthday this year. Anyone who can guess what it is gets a gold star. (Hint: It's thematically appropriate for May.)

MylittleponyOh Starter Pack - The Sims 4 Version (Plot twist, it's not AI generated !)

You have probably seen this AI Prompt going crazy lately, and I loved the idea behind it, BUT, as a 3D artist, if I had time, I would definitely make it myself rather than generate it with AI. I don't have the time BUT, I have the Sims 4 and you do too ! So, I've created a PSD file with layers so if you also want to do your Simself Starter Pack version and don't want to use AI you can ! I love how not using AI pushed me to be creative ! All the textures have been hand drawn in Gimp ! How to do it ?

In game, take pictures of your simself with or without poses (I used one tehehe), and objects that represent yourself. Preferably a front view !

Supress the background of the in game pictures (I used this one online).

Get all the layers + your simself + objects in a 2D Editing Software (I mostly use Gimp and Canva) and place it as you like ! (I have created a blank layer just so you know where to place your different pictures !)

Add drop shadows to your pictures so it constrats with the background !

Add your own text ! (I did mine on Canva).

Start with a single founder in a new save.

Each generation follows the theme of a Major Arcana Tarot card, completing its unique goals and embracing the fate of the tarot card pulled.

Each heir must fulfill their generation’s goals before passing onto the next.

You may draw your Tarot card for the next generation when the first heir is born. You are welcome to choose any of your current heir’s children to be the next generation’s heir.

This challenge will include all packs so feel free to modify to fit your needs when necessary. This was created with Life & Death as the most recent expansion pack. As new packs release, you are more than welcome to modify the rules for the new content.

Play on any lifespan and with any mods or cheats you’d like– whatever makes the challenge more fun for you, have at it. Add any little twists that you’d like to spice up gameplay. If you want to use different traits/aspirations/careers than listed, go for it! Again, whatever you feel fits your playstyle best. Just try your best to stay aligned with the Tarot theme of that generation.

You can play as many or as few generations of this legacy challenge as you’d like. You don’t have to play all 22 generations. I would recommend a minimum of 5 just to make it a “legacy” – but follow your intuition 😌✨🔮

I'm glad I was able to get it finished and posted before I left for my little trip. I didn't say it on the post, but that is technically my 1k follower's gift to you all. Captain Rook - a recolor and mesh edit

I've been wanting to make Rook a captain's coat for months, but was never able to find a mesh I felt fit. But then I saw this one, and I knew it was perfect. And since I didn't get to play my favorite lying pirate this weekend, I hyperfocused on making this instead. Hopefully someone else finds it useful!! And if you do, please tag me! I need more pirate sims in my life. 🏴‍☠️

Details:

Majorly edited mesh (removed armor and metal decorations from coat, made sleeves symmetrical, fixed distortion on hands, removed partial gloves, removed leg garter, removed coat tails)

Texture edits (removed pattern from the back of the coat, as well as removing shadows left by removed decorations)

19 new swatches for a total of 32. (3 more with black coat and pants + brown versions of the first 16 swatches.)

Known Issues: there’s quite a few split edges scattered around the coat mesh. Unfortunately they were a part of the mesh I started with, and aren’t a result of my edits. I might give fixing at least the most obvious ones a shot when I get back home, but no 100% promises.

Still haven't figured out the sleeve thing, but it's turning out pretty good so far!! As you can see I (mostly) fixed the shadow map (right pic), and made brown swatches. (plus added a few of my own swatches to the black version, so we're at 32 swatches total.)

To-Do List: Must Dos

figure out the sleeve thing!! (somehow. Either by editing the texture to get rid of the dark spot, or ideally by figuring out the sleeve mirroring. Might just have to detail tweak the vertices.) DONE!!

get rid of the dark spot on the lapel where the pin used to be

fix the weird little black part on the left fingers (only showed up after I fixed the shadow map)
