damn Napkins was so sad because
1. job hunting hurts
2. Mikey telling Tina he doesn't have dreams or goals
3. Mikey praising Carmy's accomplishments when Carmy told his group that he was always looking for that praise but Mikey never expressed it to him.
like damn i cried for Mikey, Carmy and Tina

Like, I get anxious to pay the rent. Like, to pay for groceries, like, real shit, right? And I was thinking it would be real easy for me to get really angry at these kids. Like, "Fuck them kids. They don't know shit." They haven't been through nothing, they don't know real stress. But I'm also like "I would give anything to be one of them motherfuckers." I'm jealous as fuck.

Be kind and empathetic like a bear.

Remember, Carmy said, "And he had this amazing ability. He could just walk into a room, and he could take the temperature of it instantly. You know, he could just dial it. "
Tumblr media
Mikey was the first one to notice Tina. Another thing that stands out to me is that he knows how he's feeling- he can process the chaos of the place makes him sad. This is different from Carmy, who has trouble figuring out his feelings- he only knows he doesn't like the feeling he's experiencing in the moment.
Just an observation.

Where we restitch scenes and dialogue to set up 1x01's meet-cute, or, why the usual gooey, mushy bullshit is not bailing us out this time.

Carmen: I felt like I could speak through the food [more than with words, that have been so hard to form, harder to utter, impossible to take back], like I could communicate through creativity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natalie: Carmen. It's Mikey [he's gone he's gone he's gone].
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmen: Its a fennel allergy. Sub blood [of my blood, spilled on the State Street Bridge, dripping from my broken heart] orange.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney: I bought a one-way ticket to New York, and I spent every single dollar I had, every last penny, just eating at every single place that I could think of. And one of those places was the best meal I ever had. [I was given the chef's bleeding heart on a plate] it was Carmy's [and it was everything].
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carmen: And that kind of confidence, like I was good at something that was so new and that was so exciting, and I just wanted [my brother, who raised me, who's gone, who's gone, who's gone] to know that, and fuck, I just wanted him to be like, "Good job."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sydney: [But] I know who you are. [Before I ever laid eyes on you, I had your whole heart. I know who you are and what you're capable of and] I mean, you're the most excellent CDC at the most excellent restaurant in the entire United States of America. [And you are really, really, really good.]
Shout out to @outmakingmoonshine and their brilliant meta on this reblog thread for inspiring the title of this jigsaw puzzle of a post.

Liza praising Napkins
Source: Deadline.
Bonus track: They have been instructed by Storer not to talk about S4. Which is completely uncalled for given that Landgraf has already confirmed they have 4 more eps to go, as I already went over 2 months ago:
Unless... the re-writing phase got juicier than what Landgraf anticipated and we expected... Inconsistencies all over...
The only other option is that they haven't closed the door to S5, so since that is still in negotiations, they are not allowed to talk because they could spill the beans by mistake and they would have to confirm or clarify details they are still not ready to, which I deem highly unlikely.

not to project like a motherfucker on natalie berzatto but ohhhh boy the impact of a narrative that says “hey, is your desire to make sure everybody around you is okay also about you? and could that perhaps be partially a maladaptive trauma response you should look into and maybe mitigate? because if it’s a genuine question that’s fine, but if the only answer you will respond well to hearing is yes that’s a You Issue Too, Babe”

I know there are a ton of deserving actors out there, but I would really love to see Liza Colón-Zayas get some serious awards recognition in the supporting actress categories for season 3 of The Bear. She's been fantastic in the show since season 1 (the way you can be so pissed at Tina on Sydney's behalf for 4 straight episodes, but then so viscerally feel how intense and genuine the shift in Tina's perspective and emotion is when she realizes she's misjudged Syd). Getting her own character focused episode this season (which was personally one of, if not my favorite, episodes this season [so also shout out to Ayo for directing such a pitch perfect episode]) I hope will result in more recognition for what she brings to the show. Tina is the character who has made me cry every season and from such a wide range of emotion, too. How can you not feel what Tina feels?

fak was one of my favorite characters in s1&2 bc he’s so silly and sweet and sincere but like omfg bringing in other faks was sooooo redundant and imo diminished neil’s character…… like neil’s excessively chirpy personality worked well when he was the only one with an excessively chirpy personality surrounded by people with opposite vibes (i.e. richie, and the richie/fak dynamic is one of the best bc of it!) even more upsetting that more screen time was given to the extra faks than our freaking ogs…. ebra…. gary…… likeeeeeeeee >______< ok rant over

There are two types of people in the world – haters and enthusiasts. Two fans of The Bear watched season 3 over the weekend – only one emerged still a fan.
