“Occasionally I’ll have a beer after work and break out the sketchbook. But I had wanted to be this great painter. I wanted to do these grand things: big, huge oil paintings. But those days of painting all the time were such a roller coaster. There were these periods of extreme depression, followed by manic states of trying to put myself out there. I couldn’t do it anymore. I mainly felt sorry for my dad. I know it was rough for him. My mom hadn’t wanted me to go to art school. She wanted me to do something more practical, but my dad said: ‘No. This is what he wants to do, and I want to support his dream.’ And then I abandoned it. That was the first time I had to deal with real failure. A lot of times when you’re an artist, it’s your job, it’s your lifestyle, it’s your entire fucking identity. It wasn’t like I failed to do a thing. It was like: I failed to be something, you know? It was a failure to live up to what I thought was my destiny. But then on the other side of that, there was this figuring out that there was nothing wrong with me the entire time. I didn’t need to be something else to have meaningful friendships, or a good relationship. I didn’t need to be something else to be loved and cared about. After work tonight I’m going to meet up with a person who’s in love with me, and I can’t wait. And that person met me long after I gave up on being a full-time artist. They met me when I wasn’t even a chef yet. I was a piss-poor, part-time line cook. But even then, they decided I was worth it. So you know, there’s something there. There’s something there that’s enough.”

⟢ Heyy angels!! today, I’m gonna share my top secret formula on how to start attaining what I like to call main character energy. This will be a long post sharing all my secrets on how I’m working to become THAT GIRL. ♡

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ WHAT IS MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY? 🕯️ ⊹₊⟡⋆

• main character energy is basically walking into a room with all eyes on you, full of confidence, joy, and hypnotic magnetism.

• if you want to start feeling like that girl, first you have to realize that you already ARE. YOU are the main character of your life. YOU are the star.

• it’s extremely important not to flip flop with this mindset, or it literally won’t work. in order to persist in this idea I really reccommend manifesting it and listening to SUBS that help affirm that “main character” identity you’re going for. my fav sub I use to manifest a sweet, magnetic, and feminine energy . .

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ SETTING THE STAGE 🎀 ⊹₊⟡*

• main character energy is a FEELING. In order for you to harness that powerful energy, you have to set the stage in your life

•what do I mean? Removing bad influences from your life. How do you expect to be an admirable and magnetic person if you’re surrounded by terrible people?

• anyone who is vibrating on a very low level threatens your ability to elevate your own self. you are who you surround yourself with so choose your friends wisely.

• you should also actively try to curate your social media feed and social space with things that are positive and helpful. social media has a HUGE impact on us and it should be used for our improvement, not to bring us down.

another way I love to do this is MUSIC! you can create an uplifting and confidence boosting playlist full of songs you like.

for example I really like songs like perfect night by le sserafim (kinda controversial ngl…) my world, lucky girl syndrome by illit, a lot of ari grande songs too. ♡ also girlblogging duh and looking at other girlblogs.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ STOP TAKING SHIT 🩰 ⊹₊⟡

• Stop TAKING SHIT from others. You are a walking goddess capable of doing amazing things, who is actively trying to better themselves. Who are you to take someone else’s crap?

• Walk with purpose and confidence, show people that you are secure in yourself. BUT when people are disrespectful to you. DO NOT LET IT SLIDE. That sets a terrible precedent for how others can treat you.

• You CAN Respond in a mature and calm way. But sometimes ignoring it and simply not letting it affect you can work too. Acknowledge what was said, take a deep breath and move forward. Let it go and don’t let anyone else’s comments hinder your journey. You are the one in control.

ways I calmly respond to people trying to check me:

• friend gossiping about me? bye!

• someone’s whispering under their breath about me? block out their voice and instead think about how perfect and beautiful I am.

• someone spreading rumors about me? Correct them to people who may bring them up around me, but be okay with that being misunderstood as long as it isn’t something genuinely harmful that requires adult intervention

• literally anyone has anything to say about me? distance myself from them. they aren’t worth my time, presence nor my precious energy. make that known.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ PUTTING YOU FIRST 🍵 ⊹₊⟡

• put you first ALWAYS. you are the main character in this life, not everyone and everything is worth your attention! never feel obligated to go above and beyond for someone who doesn’t deserve it.

• self care should be a huge priority in your life, because the most important relationship you will ever have with someone in your life is with YOURSELF. it will dictate everyone according to your mindset, the way you view yourself, and the WORLD.

ways I started putting me first:

• dropping the people pleaser thing: practicing saying “no” or “I don’t want to” or “I didn’t like that” in the mirror, then trying my best to apply that in everday life

• stopped answering random unplanned calls from people when I knew I was busy and texting them when I could talk

• stopped agreeing to every hangout as well

• I stayed kind, but I stopped letting people treat me like a doormat.

• letting go when people were displeased with something I said or did.

This is an Adjuration by @not-freyja, after 86 chapters, 300k words, and 10 months of joy, laughter, tears, heartbreak and love, has finally reached its end. 

Adjuration is a tragedy that is nothing short of an act of love. That much is clear in the passion and dedication put towards the story, the characters, and the message Freyja is trying to convey. This fic will teach you about love. About death. About the inevitability of existence and why despite knowing it will all come to an end, there is still meaning in trying and hoping and loving each other. In loving yourself. You will laugh, you will cry, you will hope and you will despair as you read this story, but you will not be able to put it down.

It’s hard to say goodbye to something that has been so important to and loved by so many people. So we won’t. Instead, we will say thank you for this incredible journey and the community this fic has built. For the friendships that have been made and the endless inspiration you have given us. Thank you for wanting to tell a story, and for letting us join you around the campfire to listen.

This is an Adjuration is the kind of story you fall in love with, the kind of story you think keep thinking about long after you put it down. The kind you keep finding hidden details in after you think you’ve got it figured out. 

The characters are distinct and people with their own voices, motivations, relationships and histories. You’ll have your favourites but love them all. They influence how you’ll see the characters in everything else. 

It’s full of moments where everything clicks and everything before is recontextualised in a way that’s so satisfying and make the whole story very re-readable. A time travel story where all loops are already closed, where you can know but not yet understand what will happen. It’s long, complex, and beautifully, meticulously planned and detailed. It’s clever and considered, funny and heartbreaking. 

A story that whispers ‘it matters’ over and over. It is worth it to love, it is worth it if it doesn’t last forever, it is worth it to give someone a little more time, it is worth it to fight. It’s about loving others and your world and finding grace for yourself. 

It’s loss and tragedy and the cruelness of fate. It is the sacrifice and the breaking. 

Full of heart to both fill yours and break it in the best possible way.

Sometimes, it’s hard to explain to others why art moves us.

I could tell you This is an Adjuration will make you cry, laugh, and sit at the edge of your seat in anticipation. And it’s probably true - I did all of that as I read, often with a coffee in one hand, early in the morning as I got ready for the day. 

But that’s not the reason why I’m writing this.

The real reason is how it followed me during the rest of the day.

You see, at a certain point I realized this isn’t a story about Links going on adventures. Well, it does feature Links, and they do go on adventures, so let’s talk about that for a minute.

The first thing that caught my attention about this book was the characters. Each individual is unique, interesting, and exciting to follow. Not only are the Links individually compelling, but one thing that stands out in Adjuration is how the relationship between each Hero and their own worlds matter, and these connections shift, evolve, break and grow as the plot progresses.

Freyja does an incredible job of bringing together impactful storytelling with humor and heart. This is an Adjuration starts with an interesting premise, and then twists and turns in directions you wouldn’t expect. It’s rich in thought-provoking moments, soft joy and intense action, blended in with carefully crafted time travel and magic.

Adjuration sucked me into the world it builds, combining believable characters with fascinating stories, an unnervingly devious antagonist, plot twists, and lovingly crafted details that slip unnoticed until you’re surrounded on all sides. It made me cheer for characters I feel as if I’ve known intimately for years, made me worry for their safety as I would for that of a loved one, kept me hunting for hints and hidden references, pulling on a thread to try to find the end only for it to twist and loop into itself and show me a completely new side to the story.

Yes, This is an Adjuration is a fanfiction piece that explores the winding river flow of the Legend of Zelda timeline and how the stories of each Hero merge into each other. It also stands out for its heavy emotional content, and it doesn’t shy away from angst and hurt.

But to me, Adjuration is an epic journey that taught me how the choices we make, make us in turn. It’s a tragedy that deals with pain and healing, and it bares naked the non-linear nature of grief. It’s a celebration of the things that make us unique, of our flaws, an essay of the impact of little acts of love. Indeed, it’s a story about love.

I can tell you now, This is an Adjuration moved me. It still does. It has a special way to surface in my mind in unexpected ways at seemingly random times, from something as simple as tossing an apple core, to watching a lightning storm in the distance, or finding a picture of an old friend.

And every time, without fail, it makes me think about love.

This is an Adjuration is a wonderfully and beautifully crafted story about love, loss, and choice as the various incarnations of Link come together and travel through time. Freyja seamlessly weaves a tapestry of setup and payoff across different timelines and loops, in the best-constructed time travel plot I’ve ever seen on page or screen. Even at its surface, Adjuration is an emotional rollercoaster involving tragedy and the soft moments that make that tragedy worth it. But the deeper you look, the more meaning you can pull from every chapter of this amazing work. This work has made me cry, squeal with delight, and think more deeply about its themes all while having an absolute blast reading it. So in summary: READ IT. READ IT. READ IT NOW. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

While I love that every chapter is emotionally enthralling, with carefully woven, visceral tension you crave in any good story, yet Adjuration is more than that, and you feel it in the careful weave of each character and plot point. Nothing is lost or unanswered. It's the kind of story that, by the end, makes you stop and take a hard look at your own life. Are you appreciating the now? Are you savoring joy? I want to hug every person out there with a harsh moon-saturn aspect. A person with this aspect likely went through some hardships in areas of childhood; especially in regards to the relationship with their caregiver/mother. Their caregiver (usually the mother) could have been emotionally distant therefore being unable to provide proper nurturance a child needs. Maybe the mother herself was dealing with her own emotional distress during her pregnancy or after the child was born. I’ve also seen people with this aspect (including my own experience with this aspect) who had a caregiver that struggled with some sort of addiction or that the child was a witness/victim to some form of abuse. Facing poverty is also something that’s commonly seen. Because of the lack of warmth in their upbringings, this could heavily impact one’s sense of self worth. They end up internalizing the mother’s actions/words or lack-thereof believing that the reason their caregiver is so distant (whether it be emotionally or physically) or acted that way towards the child was because of something they had done.

Building solid and healthy relationships for these people is quite difficult as well. They have to learn how to accept other people’s warmth and nurturance and allow others in. Because it’s so foreign to these people to be on the receiving end of things, they could entirely self sabotage or have this innate belief that they’re unworthy of recieving another’s loving gestures. Many moon-saturn people feel that they need to take on the role of both the mother and father and step into a place of needing to be responsible for everyone and everything. They are often the most mature within their families and amongst their peers. They need to realize that it’s not their job to carry the weight of the world and that they’re only responsible for their own words and actions. They often have very depressive thoughts that causes them to dwell or deeply ruminate. Sometimes they have very rigid perspectives and see things through a black and white lens and have distorted beliefs. It’s almost like they have a weighted blanket covering the mind, and a chain wrapped around their heart. Because of their commonly cold upbringings, these people have a hard time healthily expressing their emotions. They may often feel numb or scared to express how they really feel.

Some common misconceptions people make about these folks is that they’re incapable of being emotionally open, that they’re cold and have no heart or that they’re too in their heads (the last one might be true lol). These people haven’t been dealt the greatest cards and they need to establish a sense of trust within themselves and between them and the other before they feel open to express how they’re truly feeling. They’ve build walls around themselves to keep their heart protected. You won’t be able to win their trust easily, it takes time (saturn). They likely care about you but are reluctant to showing it because they fear rejection or dismissal. Many people also think these people are boring or are somewhat robotic. Moon-saturn people likely weren’t allowed to act on their childlike qualities or really delve into their interests due to growing up so fast because of the kind of environment they experienced in their upbringing so their expression is somewhat diluted. These people are silly and have a side to them that is playful and lighthearted and they have incredible interests that they usually express when they’re by themselves. It takes time for them to fully open up; it requires patience.

Here are some things a moon-saturn person can do to work with and hopefully overcome this harsh aspect:

Therapy (CBT, DBT, Trauma therapy, Somatic therapy).

Allow yourself to do things you weren’t allowed to do as a child.

Work on reframing the mind.

Work on getting out of scarcity mindset.

Do things that bring you joy and make you smile/laugh.

Write a gratitude list.

Talk to trees/plants/animals. They’re the least judgmental of all living things.

Create a space that’s comforting for you.

Journal.

Develop a healthy sense of self worth (You can use affirmations, express yourself how you want, tell yourself you’re deserving of good things, meditating, practice self compassion, accept yourself for who you are, etc.).

Get a ESA/service pet.

Write letters to yourself.

When faced with difficult situations, find the lesson within them.

If your family adds stress to your life, set boundaries with them or fully cut them off.

Find community (there’s community all around).

Write down the beliefs you have about yourself and look at them from an objective POV. Recognize how harmful they might be.

Work on your relationships. If you have friends and they’ve stuck around, there’s a reason they’re still there. Open up and allow them in. The right ones will stay in your life.

If in a romantic relationship, openly express your love for that person. Don’t hold back.

Make time once or twice a month where you and your partner can sit and openly discuss how you guys feel within and about the relationship.

Eat a hot meal.

Find new hobbies!

🐢 for a mental health headcanon

Zenos has always been a traumatized little guy and also canonically was very interested in stories and reading, so I like to think he has a very active imagination even as a depressed adult, and recedes into his headspace when he's in those dull, empty moments where nothing feels good. I feel like the reason he was so quick to swap from calling the warrior of light things like "eikon slayer" and "champion of the savages" to "friend" despite really not knowing them outside of the battlefield at that point, was because he imagined a whole other life in his head. The little description of "whiling away the hours and friend and confidante" he brings up couldn't have come out of nowhere after all, he thought about that a lot. I think the reason he ultimately rejects it even if the warrior of light accepts him in that moment is because as much as he dreams of better things, he is the first to squash those fancies in himself. He was conditioned to believe he didn't deserve good, so he truly believed it, even when being offered something good. 🥺 He is nothing if not a sad, whimsical, deeply damaged man.

🌼 for a happiness headcanon

Zenos getting into any non-violent hobby and hyperfixating on it. I think at first he would be coming from a place of competition since it's all he knows: he was trained to be this way, to seek out victory over all else, so I think it would begin as like, a bit of friendly sport with the warrior of light. The warrior of light, naturally, does not take it so seriously. Maybe they picked up weaving as a way to pass the time between missions in the rising stones, or leatherworking to feel less guilty about slaying wild beasts when attacked if they can repurpose the skins, or culinary arts to recreate dishes for their friends after tasting them all around the world (or on other shards, whatever the case may be).

Whatever it is, it's something simple the warrior of light enjoys doing and they are not at all worried about being the best or most efficient at it, but seeing that familiar spark in Zenos makes them want to play it up a little and encourage him. Spinning thread for Tataru's boutique, mending adventurers' armor, cooking meals for the hungry, etc. More and more the hobby has an impact on other people too, and Zenos gradually catches on that it's not the competition that matters, but the ripple effect it has on the people around him.

Basically, wol teaching him the joys of helping others for the sake of helping others by tricking him into hyperfixating over something productive 🙌

Another spectacular performance by Lyney and Lynette has brought huge smiles and loud cheers from the crowd, expressing utter satisfaction and glee from the magic they have witnessed once more.

It was no lie that Lyney was fond of the crowd cheering for them, it boosts his pride and confidence as a magician. It gives him strength to go further with magic, to bring joy to people, even if it's just for a while.

Dawn has fallen as the Opera Epiclese started to empty, the audience had started to make their way back home with a lingering excitement left in their souls, magic truly has such a strong impact. Some started to go home while some stayed, chatting with their friends, family, whoever as laughter filled the air. It was like music to Lyney's ears.

A kid who happened to be an audience from today's performance waved at the magician who made his way out of the opera with his sister, or also known as his magic assistant. The little boy jumped excitedly as he shook his arms in the air, eager to be noticed by him.

"Hello there," Lyney did not fail to notice, that's a given. He waved back at the little boy and grabbed a card out of nowhere, making the child gasp as his eyes went wide as plates. Flicking the edge of the card with his index finger, Lyney pulled out a balloon from it, amazing the child further.

The distinct sound of the child's cheers immediately drew attention from other people, ending up creating another circle of audience.

Lyney chuckled and gave the white balloon to the kid, patting his head firmly. "You're the coolest magician in the whole world!" Beamed the child as he made sure he had a good grip on the string, jumping happily while the crowd clapped their hands along.

"Magician Lyney show us another trick!"

"Another one, encore!"

The magician placed a hand on his chest, wholeheartedly feeling warm from the crowd's cheering. Usually, he doesn't do any more tricks whenever he finishes a performance at the opera. But as he looks at the crowd cheering for him in glee, how could he say no? The crowd's happiness was, indeed, his happiness as well, after all.

Moments has passed as he showed the crowd small tricks here and their, erupting the joy and excitement further more, creating a lively evening. Twirling his hat on his index finger, he tapped it and white doves flew out, swimming in the air.

Lyney adored magic.

That was what he thought, until he saw you in the midst of crowd.

He felt like time has stopped the moment his eyes landed on your figure, your skin that illuminated from the light that the moon had radiated. The way your hair flowed along the wind as you walked past. You made his heart stop beating, but beat so fast at the same time.

Were you not interested in magic? Or were you simply just the type to mind your own business? A foreigner perhaps that has yet to know him? Either way, even though you didn't turn to look at the crowd surrounding him, he was enticed by your beauty.

The cheering of the crowd became more and more incoherent to his ear the more he stared at you, as if you and him were the only ones there. Or better yet, as if this moment was given for him to admire you and your unfamiliarity that he found so alluring.

Have you noticed him before he could even notice you? Were you looking at him while he was busy entertaining the crowd? Was there any second that you took to look at him before you turned around? He hoped you did. He hoped that you glanced at him by any chance.

That's all he thought about as he went home. His head was drowning in the thought of you. It felt weird for him to feel this way, you were a stranger and yet he felt attached already. He wanted to see you again.

the pillars of self-fulfillment⋆.ೃ࿔*:･🎐

something that i love to talk about and quote is that u cannot fill the cups of others when ur own cup is empty. but what about when we do have the capacity to pour into others?

for me, when i pour into myself i feel refreshed and revived. however when i pour into my environment and others, the return on investment that i experience is immeasurable and gives fulfillment. so i've decided to separate my views on self fulfillment into 3 pillars, relationships, self, and community.

pillar one - relationships : pour into ur friends and family. remember to maintain a healthy and strong friendship u both need to give, so put ur energy towards a friendship that u want to stay strong.

ik a lot of self improvement blogs (including my own) put emphasis on the importance of spending time alone, and it IS important, the most important actually. but once you've built a relationship with urself u can build meaningful relationships with others. take good care of urself and take good care of ur friends too.

pillar two - community : start putting forward time to help ur communities. it sounds so cliche but it makes u feel fulfilled as a person knowing that ur making an impact not only in the lives of ur close relationships but also in the lives of strangers.

some schools require x amount of community service hours to qualify for certain privileges and opportunities. in my school, to qualify for scholarships u need a certain amount of community service hours so not only does it benefit others but it also benefits me and my goals.

raise awareness for serious issues in the world

Joy to the World

Reviewing it a day late, but I enjoyed Joy to the World for the most part. It felt a little disjointed and unfocused, and honestly it seems like the Doctor didn't even need to be there (without him, the briefcase would have sent the last carrier a message and carried on its merry way). The star was never going to hurt earth and Villengard was never going to have control over it, and it's unclear why the carrier couldn't tell the Doctor that from the outset. I'll need to watch it again to decide if it feels pointless after knowing all that, but at the moment it just feels a bit underwhelming.

I liked Joy as a character, and Nicola Coughlan is truly wonderful. She did a particularly great job with her creepy blank smile and then her real and justified rage against the politicians who partied it up while they told the rest of us to isolate. I was fortunate enough not to have to say goodbye to a loved one during COVID and I can't imagine the devastation and rage people like Joy had to go through. I'm so glad this storyline was written into the show. It needs to be talked about. (Also is this the first acknowledgement of COVID happening in an episode proper? I can't remember it coming up before.)

I also liked Anita and Trev. Trev in particular had such great chemistry and banter with the Doctor, and I wish they could bring him back. However, I think the Doctor essentially gaining three one-off companions (who never properly meet) is part of what makes it feel so disjointed. Much though I liked Anita, I think basically all of that plotline could have been cut. I know it was part of the larger theme of the Doctor being lonely and hating himself, but unfortunately that whole thing felt very forced. Ncuti Gatwa still does a great job with the material and he almost manages to sell it, but the writing rang a bit hollow to me. The part that worked the best for me was him bringing out two mugs at the start, which genuinely gave me a little pang of sadness. The rest was a little too "I'm going to speak my self hatred out loud to make it nice and clear for the audience".

Also, the Doctor being cruel was interesting and quite unpleasant, but mainly all the things he said about hotel rooms and what you're willing to subject yourself to were just strange. I know he was just trying to get a rise out of Joy to get her back, but none of it had a ring of truth, which it's clearly meant to so that 1) Joy can admit he was right and 2) turn it back around on him for staying there for a year. It doesn't work, though. People just stay in hotel rooms. It's not a big deal and that was a perfectly nice one.

The whole turning into a star ending unfortunately didn't really do anything for me either. It did have me crying at Joy saying goodbye to her mother in 2020, but the rest of the ending fell flat and the Bethlehem moment was also just extremely silly. Maybe I'll get more from it in future, I don't know.

Miscellaneous other thoughts:

I really liked the Doctor staying while the Silurian was dying, but I initially thought he was doing so at the expense of chasing after Joy. When it turned out she was just waiting placidly for him, even though he was trying to hinder her mission, it slightly lessened the impact and the logic of the scene.

The couple of times the Doctor said "French" instead of a swear word was obviously to do with the expression "pardon my French", but I also have to believe it's a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which one of the worst swear words you can use is "Belgium".

in light of how egregious anti-trans fascism keeps getting in the UK I (from a US "safe state" (a term which... lol)) want to say that the work you're doing with queer youth has got to be super impactful in ways that go way beyond just the people you directly serve. & it makes me feel more empowered to protect my community knowing that it's a global project as well as a personal one. sending so much love & courage

The work that I and my colleagues do, and the work of all the other queer organisations and movements who are doing all kinds of amazing things around the country and the world has really been what’s kept me going through all the terrible things which keep happening to trans people here and abroad.

It’s not always easy, especially when we have to explain quite how bad the situation is to someone who assumes that they/ their child will have easy access to rights at school or any kind of medical intervention before being 18. But the support and community we can and do offer is lifesaving for so many people, and brings so much joy and hope which is so important and needed right now.

Thank you so much for this message, it’s so nice to hear the impact of our work and get a reminder of how much of a community exists globally.

I'm a big Gwynrial fan and was in a mood of angst today. It's my first public writing.......I'm nervous

Part 1

(gwyn pov)

Battle around us raged on, but I was barely aware of it. The clang of weapons, the shouts of soldiers, the chaos—it all blurred into nothing. I couldn't focus on anything other than the aching emptiness in my chest.

I had known the bond had snapped for years. The moment I realized it, I understood the truth: I was his mate, but he wasn’t mine. Not in the way I had hoped. He was in love with someone else. Elain. She was everything I wasn’t—pure, innocent, beautiful. The perfect match for him. I could see it every day in the way he looked at her, the tenderness in his touch when they were together, and the joy that seemed to radiate from his soul when she was near. He was finally happy. He had finally found someone who could make him whole.

And it hurt. It hurt in ways that words could never explain. To watch him love her, to be completely invisible in his presence—it was a kind of torture that I couldn't escape. And yet, I never told him. Not once. Because I wanted him to be happy. I couldn’t be the one to ruin that. He deserved her, not the broken, scarred version of me.

He had chosen Elain out of love. And I—what could I offer him? I was nothing like her. I had scars, inside and out. And besides, he had always ignored me. The bond might have snapped for me years ago, but I had learned to bear it in silence. He never noticed, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell him. The bond wasn’t a burden—it was the only thing keeping me alive, even though I knew it would never be reciprocated.

But today, everything had changed.

The battle had been brutal, relentless. Every swing of my sword felt like it took a piece of my soul with it. But I couldn't stop. I wouldn't stop. Not with the lives of our people on the line. The clang of steel and the cries of dying warriors blurred around me, my focus narrowed only to the fight. I gazed behind me and only than i noticed that i was edging toward the cliff's end, a canyon beyond that. I swing the blades with more urgency, the stakes are high. I looked around and...

I saw him—Azriel—rushing toward Elain, his shadows twisting and striking down the enemy in his wake. His movements were so fluid, so deadly. For a split second, my gaze lingered on him. I couldn’t help it. His power was intoxicating, and it made my heart ache in ways I wasn’t ready to confront.

And then the world tilted.

I didn’t see the blow coming. One second, I was blocking the warrior’s strike, and the next, I felt the cold steel sink into my side. Poison. I could feel it spreading, numbness slowly creeping through my body as the warrior grinned, pulling the blade back. My breath caught, my vision blurring at the edges. That bastard !!...

I swing my sword with everything i've left with and it striked right. The head is gone . Much better!!...

As the chaos continued around me, I felt the pull of the bond stir. I thought I had forgotten what it felt like, but the familiar tug in my chest was undeniable. I turned, and there he was—Azriel. His eyes locked with mine, and I saw it. His expression shifted, a flicker of confusion, pain, and then... something else. Something I couldn’t name.

I locked eyes with him, my breath coming in ragged gasps.

It was too much. Too much to process in a split second. And then, in an instant, the world was upside down.

I was falling down the cliff.

The world blurred, my vision turning dark as I plummeted toward the ground below. So that's how it's going to end...tragic, painful...incomplete. I should've told him.......Az...

But then,

I felt him. I felt him dive after me. I couldn’t see him, but I felt the force of his presence, the shadows that whipped around us. In the last moments of consciousness, I felt him catch me, his wings enveloping me, his body pressing against mine.

The impact was brutal. He shielded me from the worst of it, but still—pain coursed through me. He was holding me as though I was fragile, as though I was the most precious thing in the world.

And all I wanted to do was tell him—tell him that I was his mate, that I had always been there, but I never let him see me. Because Elain had always been his first choice, and I was too afraid to ruin that.

His voice was frantic, desperate. “Mate.” He whispered it, but there was no triumph in his tone, only confusion and anguish.

I didn’t have the strength to say it. I couldn’t. I couldn’t speak the truth to him now. Not when he was finally holding me, finally realizing that I was the one who had always been there.

I had always been broken, scarred beyond repair. Azriel deserved better. He deserved her.

“I love you,” I whispered, my voice barely audible, knowing it would break him in ways I couldn't undo. “But you don’t love me.”

He froze, his breath catching in his throat as he looked down at me, his face contorted in horror. But I saw it—the realization. The bond had snapped for me. It had always been there, even when I tried to ignore it.

And now... it was his turn.

His voice cracked as he tried to speak. “Gwyn... I... I never wanted this. I never wanted to hurt you.” His hands cupped my face, trembling with the weight of his regret. “I’m sorry. I didn’t see it. I didn’t see you.”

I closed my eyes, the darkness overtaking me. I had always known this would be my fate. I had always known I would love him from the shadows, silently watching him find happiness with someone else. But in these last moments, I finally felt seen.

I gasped for breath, the world slipping away. My vision blurred, and all I could focus on was him. Azriel’s face above me, his eyes wide with terror.

“Can you feel it?” I whispered between painful breaths, each word like a dagger through my chest. “Can you feel the bond breaking?”

Azriel froze. His body shook with raw emotion as he looked at me, the shadows in his eyes flickering with the agony he couldn’t hide. “I... I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said, his voice trembling as he gently brushed the hair from my face, his fingers lingering on my skin as if I was the only thing keeping him tethered to the world.

I forced a weak smile, despite the agony tearing through me. “You can feel it. I know you can.” My voice cracked with each breath.

“No... nothing is going to happen to you, you'll be fine...yes you'll fine,” Azriel said, but there was a tremor in his voice, the desperation impossible to miss, as he was reassuring himself.

I could see the fear in his eyes, and even though the darkness was closing in and I've no energy left to say anything . I couldn’t help but smile faintly. “Next lifetime,” I whispered.

Azriel’s breath hitched, and he began sobbing uncontrollably. “No, no, no... not like this. Not like this...” His voice broke as he held me tighter, as if trying to stop the inevitable. “I’m so sorry, love.”

I managed to whisper through the pain, “It’s okay.” I wasn’t angry, I wasn’t sad anymore. I was at peace with everything. “I’ll wait for you."

Azriel shook his head violently, his hands trembling as he cradled my face in his palms, trying to find some sign of life in me. “I love you... i love you” he sobbed, his voice breaking with guilt. “I was too scared to say it. I should have said it sooner.”

But I couldn’t reply. My breaths were shallow now, my body growing colder with every passing second. The shadows around Azriel seemed to mourn with him, writhing in the air as if they, too, felt the loss.

“Rhys... someone... please...” Azriel whispered desperately, but no matter how hard he tried, no healer would be able to save me now.

I closed my eyes and whispered one last time, “It’s okay... in the next lifetime. We’ll be together forever...”

As time went on little to nothing had changed for the poor little cookie. They were all alone and anyone who did try to comfort them ended up perishing in the endless floods and storms of their grief. The child wasn't necessarily evil like the other beasts, more so they were hurt. And that pain began influencing everyone and everything around them. It's not fair. It really isn't fair. They had been good for as long as they can remember. So then why do bad things always happen to innocent people?

Well soon enough they found that they're situation got even worse. How? The beasts escaped the silver tree. Y/N cookie only became aware of this when the beasts themselves stumbled upon them. All five of them were beyond surprised. This was Y/N cookie? The bundle of joy with a smile that could melt any heart? The sweet caring child they all practically raised? No, it can't be. They looked so miserable. But who else could it be? When the beasts tried stepping forward the child moved away, their crying came to a momentary halt. What was this feeling? The grieved the loss of their family... but now that they were actually here it didn't feel nice... It felt awful... They never truly realized how seeing the beasts would impact them, nor did they consider how they'd feel about them. But it started becoming clear now.

They grew to resent the beasts... Grew to resent them and didn't even realize it till this moment. This was all their fault. If they hadn't turned to evil, if they hadn't betrayed them, none of this would've happened. The tears of the young cookie streamed down their cheeks faster as they confronted the beasts. What was so wrong with what their lives were like before that they chose to not only betray earthbread, but also betray themselves?! How cruel did they have to be to destroy innocent lives?! Look what they did now! All the innocence the child once held has been reduced to mere grief and it was all their fault! This wasn't a family. This was nothing more than an inconvenience to the poor cookie. An inconvenience that ruined their life.

The beasts, realizing the gravity of what they did, tried to reach out to the child. But it was too late. In a fit of pure sorrow and hatred, the child fled. They ran. And they ran. Until they could run no further. Their home was no longer in sight, and neither were the beasts. Feeling all their energy run out, the child collapsed. When they woke up they were in a lavish bedroom in a big comfortable bed surrounded by five cookies. At first their were scared, but a cookie who's eyes were closed and wielded a staff with a sunflower reassured them that they were. The cookies revealed themselves to be ancients, new ones to the child. When the child explained their story, they were all stunned. they didn't know there was a virtue of innocence. But If that truly was you, they decided to get it back. Not all innocence is gone in the world, and they were gonna help you see it.

My friend is a huge anime watcher and told me that she thought I would enjoy the series. (And oh boy was she right.)

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is everything I want my stories to be.

From the fantasy setting, magic system, and world building, to the character dynamics and subtle but steady character growth, it is phenomenal.

The running themes of time's steady progression-- consequences of actions, both good and bad across generations and decades is brilliantly executed by the character concept of Frieren.

The key to defeating evil being presented as a form of humility- one that evil cannot comprehend- is absolutely brilliant.

The gradual revelation of multiple layers of the world and history and character relationships. I love that a large aspect of this show is simply character study. It's an intensely character driven show and I adore that.

The simple and subtle humor is wonderful. It isn't afraid to be silly and goofy- and the fact that often it is the wiser characters who show this silliness or (for lack of a better term) humanity in their lives is artfully done.

The art style and music are both GORGEOUS.

The longevity of love. The impact people have on you, even if they are only in your life a short while! The emphasis to value the people around you and pay attention and build relationships and never take people for granted!
