While I'm glad my classes are giving me more fun ideas for fucked up science in a world created by a man who doesn't know fuck all about science. Fun fact I used to consume a lot of Land of the Lustrous stuff.

Anyways this is one of my many Land of the Lustrous OCs, Vivianite. Mohs hardness of 1.5, dark green/blue in colour, and very old. Due to the nature of his weak composition, Vivianite can't actually do much of anything, and has had to live under very specific conditions.

Vivianite wears a tight full body uniform to hold any chipped pieces in place, and is kept in a box stuffed with loose cloth to ensure minimal damage. If he comes into contact with light, he begins to oxidize and darken, so he's kept in a windowless room with curtains over the entrance.

That's all to say he's isolated and bored. He spends much of his time inactive, but he'll jump at the opportunity for conversation if there's someone around. Certain gems visit him to chat, get guidance, or give him the recent news. A task given to some gems is to clear his room of dust, and maybe bring him some books if he's up for it.

Vivian sees himself as an older sibling/friend to many of the other gems, and as such he's very keen on providing a listening ear and giving advice where possible to those who need it. He's essentially emotional support in a can.

Other notes/details:

not all gems know Vivian exists! He's hidden away so most gems wouldn't see him unless they were actively looking for him. A lot of the older ones know about him, but the younger ones don't

Rutile is endlessly tired of having to glue him back together so often due to his softness, which is part of why he has a tighter uniform to keep all his broken pieces in place

Vivian struggles with walking, he tends to be slow and stumbly

the tanks in Vivian's room are for jellyfish. Gems who are sent to clean his room have to switch out the jellyfish too. They're there to provide a faint light source so he doesn't go completely inactive

Vivian, despite living in a box in the dark, has a lot of technical knowledge about things as a result of millennia of going through the library collection. He' a living encyclopedia and can usually offer some answers if a gem has questions on a particular subject

his internal structure is basically a lot of shards stuck together like fibers, so he does minor repairs on himself by affixing strands of his hair into empty spots. He's had his fingers repaired and replaced this way often

In the few instances where Vivian has gone outside, he has an abnormally high amount of energy as a result of his inclusions being able to work at full capacity in the light

The way Dean swallowed his feelings as soon Cas told him I love you. he swallowed his will to respond back, because he recognized the point of no return if he just said: You know I love you too. Cas's happiness will have been undoubtedly real. Dean kept silence because he tried to reject or negate Cas the 12 year fuckery between them. thinking it could have ended Castiel's deal with the empty. But he swallowed his words because he wasn't able to lie to Cas when he was so vulnerably open with him... AND THE EMPTY WAS A BITCH THAT ENDED THE THING FAST BECAUSE PLOT CONTRIVANCES.

Lester didn't understand that Meg launched herself onto the Tarquin in order to save him (because this is Meg why would she— he doesn't really deserve it does he he is such a terrible friend and he is fine with himself dying) until he was told about it by Meg.

Meg who feels guilty that Lester is dying and she doesn't want to lose someone else who is important dear to her.

It's not the first time Leo wakes up in your arms. It's not the first time he catches himself smiling and huffs a laugh after staring at your sleeping form for far too long. And it's certainly not the first time he basks in your presence.

But it is the first time he feels like he gets to know why.

It's stupid. He's seen you in the light so many times. The Lair's fairy lights as they give you a beautiful halo. The morning sunlight of your previous apartment when he stays over after a ridiculously tough night. Hell, he's even seen you under the midday sun after climbing out of the ocean, the rivulets of water making you glisten like a fairy.

But here, here the light of the Hidden City as its daytime population begrudgingly awakens, he might be finally catching sight of a dream.

You're wrapped in green. A stunning neon green he knows he's seen before. It's all over you, cradling you like a blanket, like a hug he hopes is keeping you safe. The fact that he can also catch flecks of blue has his vision almost blur as he laughs and hides his face in your shoulder.

He knows it'll be gone by the time he blinks and the Hidden slowly gears towards work. It can't be real. But god, does he hope his ancestors have taken to protecting you. That they love you... just as much as he does.

"... Leon?"

Because he finds it all too ironic that it fades the moment you rasp against him and he moves to watch you sluggishly open your eyes in a way that shows concern.

He cups your cheek and joins your lips. He hums as you do while putting your arms around his neck before scratching the top of his shell, making him churr. And he simply settles against you, oh so glad it's a Friday, and the worst he's got to do today is a waiter shift before meeting up with his brothers along with you.

Run of the Mill Pizza is going to be interesting tonight, but he can't care less.

"You okay, honey?"

"I'm fine. Just... remembering there's a family member you haven't met."

"There is?"

"Yeah. Just... not sure if you can. I'll have to ask Mikey."

You need to get started on your day. His brother can and will get mad at you if you don't show up on time, certainly with it being the last few days of summer. That new collection is not going to get done itself, after all, and it looks stunning from what he's seen.

"Breakfast?"

"You got the chai ready?"

"I did."

"Thank you, sweetie."

But, as you hug him before slowly crawling out of his arms, he wants to drag you back. He wants to hold you for a little longer. And he desperately hopes he did not imagine that glow.

Because you are Hamato. He is yours. Something he hopes to make official by the end of the month.

"Wish me luck, Gram-Gram," he whispers as he gets up and follows you to the kitchen.
