you can love a character and still admit they’re wrong. i love gale dekarios but can acknowledge his flaws (none) and can hold him accountable for his wrongdoings (he’s never done anything wrong in his life) and call him out for his actions (which are always correct).

with this being the preview for the next ep, and the beginning of gear 5 luffy-vs-lucci fight,

I went to reread one piece chapter 1070, and can't wait even more to see this fight animated in the next few eps! so much loony tunes and goofs ahead!

talking with my friend @voliialpha reminded me of how much content was cut from gale going from early access to the full release version of the game:

the two biggest scenes that were cut:

-the deer stew scene -the loss scene (which included another way to start the romance with him)

shorter ! conversations:

-his reaction after the fight in the abandoned temple of jergal -his reaction after you failed to save arabella / stood by to watch it happen -his reaction after talking to the paladins of tyr and agreeing to go after karlach -his reaction after edowin and the tadpole reveal -his reaction after mayrina giving ethel's wand to her or breaking it -his reaction after handing astarion over to the gur or defending him -his reaction to reaching the druid grove for the first time -his reaction to the player killing lae'zel after they feel the symptoms of ceremorphosis and comforting them -his reaction to reaching the goblin camp & looking for halsin -his reaction to killing the druids -his reaction to priestess gut & the brand & the cult of the absolute -his reaction after killing dror ragzlin and talking to the dead mind flayer -his reaction to the bugbear and the ogre couple -being able to give him the necromancy of thay book to read (not as an item to consume) -his various reaction after you dealt with ethel or made a deal with her -his reaction to the zhentarim chest -his reaction to the myconids after entering the myconid colony for the first time -his reaction to arabella dying

these were all conversations, marked with a !. some of the lines used in these conversation survived as ambient one liners ("the loot isn't for your pockets only." line for one).

i didn't realise it was this much. i was thinking about making a post with the actual transcripts of these conversation because it's just sad that they are all gone now. they gave a lot of insight into the character.

one of the few conversations that did survive are his reaction to nettie poisoning the protag, his story after saving mirkon, the story about the yawning portal after stepping in front of sazza, and his reaction to saving arabella from kagha.

time for more soren character analysis:

petrine’s battle conversation with soren in chapter 23 has always been a favorite of mine, and now that i’m looking at it again i noticed a few extra details:

it’s important to mention that this battle takes place directly after ike and soren’s a-support, in which soren confesses he’s a branded and expects to be shunned, only for ike to tell him that it doesn’t matter and he wants soren to stay by his side regardless.

anyway, besides “Now let me show you true fear!” being a really hard line, it’s really cool to see how soren’s reaction to his branded status being pointed out changes so sharply over the course of a handful of chapters. i already analyzed his reaction to nasir’s betrayal where he’s agitated over the fact that he could have prevented it if nasir hadn’t threatened to reveal him being branded to the army, so seeing him being so confident in himself is great, and i’ll touch on why here.

one of the reasons i like to say the game treats ike and soren’s a-support as canon is actually this particular conversation. soren, having just been reassured that ike will always want him at his side regardless of who or what he is, now suddenly has had his biggest fear and insecurity taken off his back. he doesn’t need to hate himself for being branded because ike, the only person who’s ever truly mattered to soren, doesn’t care at all.

back to the conversation, soren’s judgment over the situation at hand is no longer clouded by his own self-loathing. instead of comparing them as branded and seeing himself as just as horrid and disgusting as petrine (tiger branded, fun fact), he’s able to instead compare them as individuals and realize that what he’s done up to that point will never measure up to the atrocities she’s committed. i think the best part personally is just how disgusted soren looks by the notion he and petrine are the same, because he’s right— him being cutthroat and pragmatic is nothing compared to everything petrine has done in daein’s name— and the fact he can clearly see this means that, for the very first time, he’s finally starting to heal from the mental wounds inflicted upon him by his childhood.

overall, i like this little nod to soren starting to learn to grow and change from who he was at the beginning of fe9. it’s more clearly seen in radiant dawn, where he’s calmer to the point ranulf even comments on it, but these little inklings implying the start of soren’s healing are really cool to see.

regarding the leaks tomorrow, bkdks...if you are feeling nervous remember all the beautiful things and content we have, lets enjoy the ending together regardless of what hori decides, i know we are very attached to bkdk but hey there are big ships like ours that are not "canon" but the chemistry and content are just perfect and we lovee it! there are mean people out there that dont understand that no matter what happens bkdk will still be the #1 for us and are trying to start drama. Let our fanart, fics, edits, theories speak for us, the quality and passion speaks volumes! lets keep enjoying! the ride doesnt end here!
