One of my weird voyeuristic pleasures is occasionally scrolling through the trad//blr tag. Like damn you guys really live like this? At least when I talk about getting on my knees to worship someone it's a roleplay thing, you guys are really out here wanting others to make decisions for you.
"Arch your spine and shoulders back" buddy that is NOT proper posture have fun with that back pain
^said by people who definitely use Wholesome Traditional Punishments (violence against defenseless children)
God. Oh my fuck where do I even begin with this one. It was bad enough and then I got to the end of the post and was like jesus christ this is a 15 year old advertising exactly how to groom herself huh. I genuinely hope she's okay and that no one takes advantage of that. This is like watching a trainwreck. Flashback to a reality TV show I watched once about Christian marriages where this fresh 18 year old married a man a few years older than her that she barely knew and that made her promise to always submit to his will. Like I couldn't even laugh at that one I just wanted to help her.
NOT EVEN PRETENDING. MASK OFF RACISM I love it
The classic stolen picture of a skinny white woman wearing an all white dress that would be inconvenient for actually being around farm animals, I love it.
#15 minute ethnostates sounds like a dark joke id make with my boyfriend#not a lot of overt racism etc i find#its mostly just “i wanna be a pretty housewife and never have to make decisions” and “i felt happy when i embraced my femininity and submit”#like. embracing your femininity? great! i love that for you! i encourage you to gain skills in traditionally feminine forms of work or art#that have been diminished bc of their association with womanhood. yeah man spin that wool!#but like. maybe do that without the white supremacy and sexism and queerphobia?

now that posts about this are everywhere less can i say that, even as someone who loves barbie and fashion dolls in general, the way people talk about how the barbie movie is the peak of feminism and any woman or anyone who was raised as a girl in general who talks abt how the pink hyperfeminine barbie aesthetic alienates them or was used as a weapon against them as a child is actually being misogynist and anti-women having fun was actually kind of awful?
#sorry if this is too discoursey#to elaborate a bit. yeah youre right that femininity and feminine things shouldnt be devalued#but to so closely associate all womanhood with that aesthetic is just dumb as hell#and women who dont want to center their identity or feminism around a marketable white cishet feminine ideal image arent wrong or ur enemy#angel.txt

y’know what fuck It im showing up to the [redacted] meeting in full veil and dress and I’m going to the [redacted] later dressed the same. can’t be much more disarming to right wing nuts than what they perceive to be a white woman in formalwear. wish me luck.
edit: survived. only directly heckled by two or three insane maga men all of whom seemed to get uncomfortable and stopped calling the guys around me faggots when I was looking at them. conclusion: being watched by a white woman in formalwear embarrasses white boys. notes for next time: amp up the ‘disappointed grandmother’ vibes.
#ra speaks#personal#I’ve been hemming and hawing all morning. fuck it we ball in a dress and mantilla.#it’s part of the job to be demure and disarming and diffuse tensions and what’s more pavlovian associated with safety in white conservative#psyche than a white girl wearing modest feminine clothes.#I can pull it off. probably. I can still do the customer service voice.#to bind or not to bind…that is the question….#probably won’t matter w a coat but I’ll see

she's not even that good to be committing crimes over
#I have been out of a loop with how swifties are actually rabid#I always saw them as toothless but it's disturbing to make someone lose their job just bc they don't like her music#she's not even that good to be going on like that#I'd probably understand if it was beabadoobee. but we're talking about some bland white girl#it's also funny that the original tweet is about Jennifer Anniston 🤧#it kinda sucks bc the vocal haters of Taylor Swift are potato looking str8 white men who don't wash their ass & smell like bacon bits#and they only hate her bc she's dating Travis Kelce & fear seeing anything remotely feminine in their space#that's one reason why I keep my criticism of her quiet - I don't want to be mistakenly associated w them#my thoughts

watching selkie become mainstream is weird bc i remember when this was a niche designer line
#💖.txt#its weird watching a lot of the very girly styles i associate with weird fem people on tumblr become popular!#i do wonder when itll stop being a trend bc. i am kind of annoyed#i try not to be bc yknow fashion is fun everyone should have a good time and i also indulge in trends#but. at a certain point im like ok can the thin cishet white women who havent read anything about gender#beyond the handmaiden stop talking about 'reclaiming femininity'#yr not reclaiming anything. it was never taken from you in the first place#narratives about reclaiming or choosing feminine self expression started as talking about queer/lgbt ppl and fat ppl and poc and now.#'oh but people judge me for caring about fashion' thats just misogyny! you are just experiencing normal misogyny!#anyways. can the normal cishet thin white girlies stop acting like normal misogyny#is somehow Extra Bad bc theyre feminine. misogyny is bad enough you do not need to exaggerate#you also sound silly when you insist masc women are celebrated

Ken's progression OUT of color
This is kinda a cornplate thought that I had nowhere else to put but I love how in the Barbie movie(SPOILERS), Ryan Gosling's Ken's outfits symbolically showcase his "descent" into full patriarchy mode over time.
At the beginning of the film Ken's beach outfit (his default) has an equal balance of pink and blue. Pink is obviously Barbie's color, and shows Ken as fitting well into the femininity and style of Barbieland, while blue could be argued to be Ken's color (a scene later when he's especially confident features him wearing all denim blue, and the stereotypical gender of these colors, especially when found in kid's toys, supports these basic binaries as associated with these colors).
When Ken decides to leave Barbieland with Barbie to delve into the outside world, his color scheme goes full pink, desperate enough to be with Barbie that his attire reflects how dependent his identity is on hers at this stage.
However, it isn't long before Ken's exploration of the real world leads him to exciting new discoveries about the patriarchy and what it can do for him. Here he is introduced to a newfound sense of self independent from barbie, and while he still carries a pink scarf around his neck, the rest of his outfit has devolved into black and white while hers has remained colorful. As he pursues this new-to-him idea further, his worldview is becoming less unique, pretty, and vibrant(in addition to becoming much more masculine).
It is only his scarf that ties him to Barbie now, and upon making the choice not to follow her to Mattel, he becomes fully independent, losing the scarf and any trace of pink in his attire the next time we see him in his mojo dojo casa house coat and beach off outfit underneath.
In his most masculine moment during "Just Ken", he and the other Kens all wear a uniform of the most traditionally male ben shapiro outfit ever: A T-Shirt, belt, and dress pants. All black(and no white either to contrast like the previous 2 outfits). It's fitting that the Kens, in their destructive warpath, imagine themselves as perfectly cleaned up yet violently masculine dancers in their heads, their outfits devoid of all of the flair and character of Barbieland.
(excuse the shitty picture) After Ken has his little self-growth moment, his new sweatshirt reflects the changed and much more balanced man he has become, much more accepting of himself and a life where he can co-exist with Barbie without being with her. This outfit is again an almost perfect balance of pink and blue, both sides of Ken now a bit more at peace, his colors not pushed out by the LITERALLY black hole of toxic masculinity.
The color scheme also matches the roller blading outfit, so perhaps it shows a somewhat intermediary stage of Ken's development wherein he is still attached to and at peace with Barbieland, but where he is starting to become more independent as well. anyway these are all fun and i genuinely have no fucking idea why Mattel didn't cash in on literally making dolls of all the characters and their outfits these would be so fun to own

very lestat is violent and abusive so he's the Man. louis is abused so he's the Woman. there are no blurring lines here any time lestat is effeminate it's a trick or a ploy to get people to trust him. do you guys even hear yourselves? and people act as if these categories they've invented for them are absolute and unchangable as if louis and lestat don't have both in them it's infuriating especially when people are always so smug about their weird gender essentialism
there have always been a lot of people in the fandom who have been very gender essentialist in their read of louis and lestat but it's really ramping up now
#interview with the vampire#I've already said everything I wanted to say about it (and got blocked by like 20 people for simply stating my opinion on my blog; lmao)#but it's fr such an insane swerve into terf logic and these people STILL double-down on it as if they can't see how insanely conservative#they sound with it#denying that white women/white effeminate men can be violent or abusive to their partners or their children#unless they're deliberately acting out some ploy for them to be 'taken less seriously'#(as if racism doesn't exist and Lestat gets more privilege from that than 'faking' femininity for white masculine men...)#it's especially wild hearing of them saying that the show is also trying to trick you into making him 'more palatable' by associating him#with femininity??? as if white abusive mothers are somehow less judged for their abuse.......read any social/court case about#abusive mothers I beg of you#also there's more to criticize in the show taking on a tone of dark comedy within some of his scenes where he's being deranged and how THAT#if anything 'lessens' the effect of the abuse to general audiences than his effeminate mannerisms...#I also find it very funny how some of these people double down on the 'Louis is the mother!' point#and then don't even delve into Louis's own complicated views on women#and particularly how he treats the other women in his life from his past#from his time at the Storyville houses#to Grace and Claudia? just absolutely zero genuine interest in discussing this#bc they gotta stick to this abuser=man/victim=woman binary#and neglect Claudia in this equation either way

some astro notes on the EYES
- pisces, especially revati nakshatra can either have very expressive eyes or a blank stare; a gaze that's here, but "not here," a far-off look
- a strong influence of pitta - firey, hot planets like the sun & mars, malefic planets in fire signs can lead to "discolored" eyes that are not a bright white but may have an off-white or yellowish tint
- the whiteness of the eyes is associated with femininity, which corresponds with the water and earth element. kapha tends to give bright white eyes
- ardra nakshatra's deity is rudra, the terrifying form of lord shiva, who is said to have red eyes in some depictions
ardra natives are associated with red eyes and can have a wild, fierce look about them.
ardra is also associated with red eyes via its crying symbolism
& being a rahuvian nakshatra, is inclined to smoke 🌿
- leo rising can potentially bestow "yellow eyes," more prominently in males
- scorpio risings are said to have "power in their eyes," meaning they are very observant and see what people are doing. their eyes can be commanding & intimidating, as well as alluring, scorpio being a water sign
scorpio risings can be observant in a psychological sense, such as a observing body language and trying to gauge emotions and intentions from that, or studying micro facial expressions; observant in the occult sense of observing dreams, astrological studies, etc.
- rahu's nakshatras (ardra, swati, shatabisha) are extremely observant of their surroundings and the physical world they are placed in. immersed in the sights, sounds, smells of their environment, often leading to big, childlike eyes - full of wonder, soaking in the sights & sounds of the world
- the fire element represents vision, so afflictions to the fire signs may afflict the eyesight, depending on planetary conditions
- ashlesha natives have alluring, cat-like eyes that pull you in. eye makeup such as kohl or kajal and mascara can enhance this quality
- chitra natives can have big eyes that tend to narrow significantly when they smile, as well as rohini
- revati, bharani, krittika and venusian natives are good at acting with their eyes. they can excel at dance and can express different emotions with their eyes
- bharani natives can make excellent actors and performers due to being able to cry on command, & how dramatically they can express different emotions and invoke different emotions and reactions in audiences
bharani natives are also prone to crying and may often burst out in tears, though they may not like to show this aspect of themselves
bharani is associated with childbirth and babies who are prone to crying to express emotion.

I was asked why the moral panic around Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was so centred on trans people when there’s no evidence that she’s trans. I thought I’d share my thoughts publicly.
The reason is that, in many ways, transphobia isn’t about trans people, it’s about what trans people mean to ideologies of race and gender. The controversy about the Olympic boxers is linked to rising anxieties about the line between men and women becoming increasingly blurred in contemporary society. These anxieties are fuelled by right-wing movements who see rigid divisions between men and women as critical to maintaining white social, economic, and political control. Because trans people are seen as challenging the justification of gender norms and roles based on biology and reproduction, they’re targets of particularly intense hostility and violence. My colleague Blu Buchanan and I tracked that racial logic a bit more in depth in a truthout essay a few years ago. White supremacist ideologies are heavily invested in rigid gender norms and roles because they see them as necessary to white reproduction.
The moral panic about ‘gender ideology’ is about trans people, yes, but it’s also explicitly about cis men and women not conforming to gender ideals that see men and women as fundamentally different forms of life with different roles in a society organized around the nuclear family. Women have to act and look a certain way to be considered ‘really’ women, much in the way that gay men are deprecated as ‘not real men.’ This moral panic manifests in the disproportionate targeting of racialized women and especially Black women for not conforming to white ideals of femininity. This dynamic is only amplified in the context of elite sports given the pervasive association of athletic ability with masculinity, especially in contact and strength-based sports like boxing as opposed to, say, gymnastics.

Me: hey there's a big issue with anti-masculinity in queer and leftist spaces. Trans fems, if they don't constantly perform hyperfemininity and aren't little and skinny and white, are demonised and people call them pedophiles because there's such a dislike of any association with masculinity. Trans mascs are told they're "whiny MRAs" when they talk about the oppression they face. Masculine intersex people are erased or told they should just be more feminine if they don't want people to be scared of them for looking masculine. People act like marginalised men (queer men, trans men, men of colour, etc, intersex men) aren't actually marginalised because they're men. The vocal "all men literally ARE evil" rhetoric isn't actually venting when it's constant and public, it's harming marginalised men and is a contributing factor to teens and young cis (often but not always het) going down the alt-right pipeline, and is directly linked with trans people not transitioning or being too scared to transition because by becoming a man they are becoming "the enemy". There's the idea of "women +" or "women and nonbinary," which positions all nonbinary people as 'basically women' or affiliated with femininity, and in practice ends up pushing away anyone who appears or identifies with masculinity, regardless of their gender identity. Butches are treated as if they're just sex toys, or that they're scary and dangerous because of their masc presentation. This is actually a huge, pervasive issue that is further hurting already marginalised people AND is pushing potential allies away because it's making them feel bad for something they can't control (being men.)
Dumbasses: lol op thinks cis men are oppressed by minorities

Yamato, Transness, and "Passing"
Now that we're nearly a full arc removed from Wano and Yamato's introduction, I want to talk about the reaction that a subset of the one piece fandom had to his reveal as a trans man/transmasc person, the transphobia behind that reaction, and how the concept of passing plays into that reaction. I'm not going to be arguing that Yamato is a trans man, as I think it is very obvious that he is given how he is referred to in the canon text. This is instead going to be more of a fandom dissection of why (in my personal opinion) so many people refuse to acknowledge Yamato as a man.
When we are first introduced to Yamato, he is dressed in a way that gives him the appearance of a flat chest, and is wearing a mask to hide his face. He looks like a man in a cis-heteronormative way
When Yamato was depicted like this, he was (from what I can tell) mostly referred to with he/him pronouns by the fanbase. This is based on comments underneath his chapter debut and episode debut. There are comments under his episode debut that do use she/her pronouns and refer to him as a woman, but because these episodes have been out for a while, it would make sense that these kinds of comments would be left on his debut after his second design was revealed.
Then, when he removes his mask and outer layer of his outfit, he is depicted like this
After this reveal, more people began to refer to Yamato with she/her pronouns, and refer to him as Kaido's daughter, despite him referring to himself as Kaido's son, as well as the people around him using he/him pronouns exclusively for him. What changed? Well, Yamato went from having a design that looked traditionally masculine to having a more traditionally feminine one. As such people who associate only women with having breasts and more "feminine" features began to insist that Yamato was a tomboy, or a delusional woman, anything but accept that fact that he is a man.
There is a phenomena with trans "acceptance", where a character is accepted as trans only if they look like their gender according to the cis-heteronormative ideal, and questioned and denied if they don't. Kiku, a trans woman who "passes" as a woman did not receive nearly the same level of speculation and denial of her trans identity. (This is not to say that Kiku received no hate or transphobic comments, but that because she looks like a woman to the average cis-het viewer, she was treated as a "real" trans person, whereas Yamato was not).
Yamato has been repeatedly referred to as mentally ill for being a "non-passing" trans man. He has been called bad representation (despite large numbers trans men/transmasc people, myself included, saying that his IS good representation). People have made claims with no canon backing in an attempt to hand wave away his transness because he "looks like a woman", a popular one being that Kaido some how forced Yamato into being a man, despite his backstory telling us the exact opposite.
And the reasoning for all of this speculation is that trans people are held to such high standards in terms of appearance and presentation, even in fictional media. A trans man must have a flat chest, deep voice, facial hair etc. or he isn't actually trans. A trans woman must have breasts, a high voice, a lack of facial hair, etc. or she isn't actually trans. Non-binary people are dismissed entirely. This denies the many different and diverse ways that a person can be trans. Sure, some trans people wish to medically transition, get the "surgery" and go through life as if they were cis. But not all trans people want that. Gender is messy and complicated, its not nearly as black and white a we have been taught to believe. There are many trans people (both binary and non-binary) who will never medically transition. That does not make them less trans, it does not make them delusional. Yet because we have this black and white thinking ingrained in us from childhood, any deviation from the strict boxes of "man" and "woman" are immediately questioned, and that includes gender non-conforming people - both trans and cis.
This type of transphobia is not talked about enough, as the people doing it will so often hide behind the idea that they are protecting "real" trans people, and just want to make sure that they are respected and taken seriously. But, respect for a persons gender identity CANNOT be conditional. It does not matter if they "don't pass". It doesn't matter if they are a good person, a bad person. The second you start dictating who gets to have their gender respected is the second you stop being an ally. And that includes fictional characters like Yamato.

What's a dyke
you know i get this question a lot and i don't get sick of answering is, so thanks for asking!
a dyke can be a lot of things. the term "dyke" is a slur that is thrown around in North America, primarily the United States and Canada as well as certain other English speaking countries that is generally directed at masculine or androgynous women (usually cis women and AFAB people). it is intended to be lesbophobic in nature. it is meant to be used in a way to imply that other person is a lesbian, and in a very bad way.
however, because a lot of people have a bad read on what a lesbian is, they often times misdirect it towards other people that they consider lesbians and thus dykes. if 2 women are close friends no matter how they express it they can be affected by the slur as well, no matter what their orientation is. other than lesbians, cis masc, androgynous, gender non conforming women and fem women who spend a lot of time around other women, regardless of their actual identity, people who get called dykes the most tend to be:
transfeminine people
trans women
intersex people
transmasculine people
trans men
butch people
bisexual, pansexual, polysexual & omnisexual women
multspectrum lesbians
non binary, genderqueer, and genderfluid people
two spirit people
multigender people
bisexual women & people
... a lot of other queer people
dyke is a slur that affects a really broad range of people due to the complexity and diversity that comes with both womanhood and transness. both trans men and trans women are affected by this a lot more than people want to talk about. if a woman or woman adjacent person reads as masculine, they very well can get called a dyke by someone hateful who is angry. the slur dyke is associated with AFAB bodied people and women, but there are a lot of transfem people who are targeted by this slur due to them not fitting inside of a restrictive binary of what can be a woman in someone else's mind.
this affects women, people assigned female at birth, transfem and transmasc people, genderqueer people, enbies and so on who express attraction to women. bisexual women have this directed toward them all the time. women who come out as bi, pan and/or polysexual get told they're dykes just for being attracted to women. any mention of sapphic attraction and you're a dyke. no matter if you're cis, trans, perisex, intersex, if you clock to them as a woman, they will call you a dyke for being attracted to women. even spending a lot of time with women can get this directed toward you
it affects trans men like crazy. most trans men and mascs are called this term throughout their childhood and early lives. if they aren't they're getting called a tomboy or something else of that nature. a lot of transmascs reclaim the slur because it's so heavily associated with antimasculism and transandrophobia. not every single transmasc and/or trans man will experience this but it's super common especially if you're butch and dress masc.
it affects trans women and transfems who don't "pass perfectly" in certain people's eyes. if we're attracted to other women, if we're hairy or have bulkier bodies or filled out jaws, deep voices or whatever else, we get called dykes. if trans women DO pass we still get called dykes, especially for spending a lot of time with other women of any identity. people are so emotionally charged about who women and femmes spend their time with that this affects trans women and femmes way more than people realize. it's transmisogynistic on top of everything else
it's racist in nature as well because any traits that are associated with masculinity present will also be targeted by this slur. women and people of color may get targeted and called dykes by cishet white racists due to the fact that they have different "beauty standards" and don't see certain traits as "feminine" or "womanly" enough. it disproportionally affects people of color, regardless of identity.
it's a slur that's layered with misogyny and antimasculism, intersexism and exorsexism, bio and gender essentialsm, transmisogyny and transandrophobia. it's lesbophobic, butchphobic and anti sapphic. it's racist. it's a slur that affects a really broad range of people and i like when people ask this question because i get to down the misconception that the slur only affects cis women who are lesbians. that's just not the case, it affects so many trans and queer people. intersex people are a large portion of the people affected by this slur and no one ever wants to talk about it.
the reason so many people reclaim it is because it affects so many parts of our identities and how other people view us. it's a very powerful slur to reclaim and it's very healing to do so, because other people use it so flippantly. even other queers will gladly call someone a dyke if they're upset. no matter what it's always waiting to be used against us, especially if we're trans men and women, intersex, people of color, and/or disabled.
it's a very powerful thing to reclaim because people seem to have zero hestitation to hit people with it no matter what. and it's important to take the power back from those people, so a lot of people choose to use it casually. it's something that i believe should be used proudly if so many people are going to judge our lives and how we should live them.
sure, maybe i am a dyke. maybe we're in agreement.
It's Mr. Dyke to you.
so thank you for asking! i hope this helps. feel free to ask, let me know if you have any other questions!

real
personaly i think postcanon emma designs should be some degree of gnc otherwise you missed it by a mile. i think there's a lot of significance in her refusal to wear skirts at all post-escape
#i've said this in the past but man do i dislike the takes on her with long hair that just feel like extensions#like you can see her original hair outline and they just feel tacked on? as opposed to being fully integrated and seamlessly flowing#that and the association with (white) femininity#and how frequently that's intertwined with Mama!Emma AUs and specifically following the same path as Isabella to heighten the tragedy#also i'm heavily biased bc i greatly prefer short hair lol#the fine line of respecting people's different takes on a character they connect with#and exploring parts of themselves through projection which is generally harmless and a useful function of fiction#vs the expectation that she *should* do all these things to achieve self-actualization as an adult woman#greatly dislike inexplicably hardline tradwife or hyperfemme Emma for reasons already touched upon tho kfsldk </3#Post-Canon#Emma
