I think it's interesting that a lot of the critiques about Ted Lasso s3 are very repetitive (so very repetitive) statements about the show being overstuffed with "unrelated" narratives. I agree that it's an absolutely stuffed season, but I'm cool with it because all the arcs feel deeply related to me and I'm honestly having so much fun with it.

S1 was basically perfect. (I mean, nothing is perfect, but s1 gets close.) Each episode was a tightly-edited morsel that felt like something new and wondrous. It had to be an amazing first impression, otherwise it wouldn't have gone anywhere. Then s2 was about isolation and bad choices and the hauntings of past pain rising up, crossing the distance of an ocean or the distance of thirty years to hurt you again, and it was good but deeply imperfect. At times, some of the pain even felt rushed, while some of the episodes dragged, and I say that as a person who enjoyed s2 more than many!

S3 feels like my senior year of college (which, holy fuck, was 15 years ago).

My senior year was very fun and very sad. I ate so much pizza! I went to so many dance parties! I sometimes drank too much and I sometimes thought about adulthood and health and who I wanted to be in the world and stayed sober(er) to care for people having a harder time than I was. I took too many classes and worked really hard. I started a relationship that would overstay its welcome in my life because I didn't know how to be true to myself yet. In other ways, I was true to myself. I wrote the story of what was happening over and over and over.

TL s3 has this meta-awareness of coming to an end, of questioning WHERE Ted should be at the end of the story, and not only Ted, but everyone. All those people who got stranded in their own stories in s2 are finding their way again, and maybe it is messy and self-indulgent and taking a little too long, but tbh if I got the opportunity to tell a story this way I'm pretty sure I'd end up doing the same thing. There's a reason the exact halfway point of the season saw the majority of the cast reconnecting on a bus after spending wildly variant nights.

S1 was perfection and s2 was often great and often YIKES and s3 is like a long, magical night in which you're aware (self-indulgently aware, yes, but there are worse things to be) of the journey ahead but perfectly suspended in the moment.

Hi okay SO. I have been putting off making an introduction post because I'd mostly prefer people to just look at my blog and decide if they want to hang out based on that, rather than making some big definitive statement about Who I Am.

But I'm currently accumulating followers at a truly alarming rate and - look, I don't want to give the impression I'm ungrateful, I am genuinely SO TOUCHED by every single one of you who's interested in what I have to say!! The feeling is 100% mutual, and I am having a blast sharing everyone's thoughts and enthusiasm. It's just that my goal with this blog is to have fun and do my own thing. I don't hate attention but I'm also not looking for it.

On balance, then, I think it's probably a good idea to give people a general sense of what I'm about so that if it doesn't appeal to you, we can opt out of each other's social circle before anyone steps on anyone else's toes.

My general philosophy:

I am here to have fun. I might occasionally have a little kvetch about some fandom trend or another but ultimately, even if your favourite trope drives me up the wall, I'm genuinely so happy that it is out there bringing you joy. I try very very hard to treat everyone with kindness and to avoid getting caught up in drama.

This isn't a clique it's a community. Please leave commentary on my posts or drop me a message if you wanna chat!

I follow and unfollow pretty liberally and never mean anything personal by it. I might consider you a friend but still unfollow if your current hyperfocus isn't jiving with mine. In turn, I will never take offence to anyone doing the same with me. Regardless of our following status, I'm always up to chat.

Primary Fandoms

Good Omens - I have loved this fandom for years and years, since before the TV show as it exists today was even a twinkle in Neil's eye. I ship Crowley and Aziraphale SO HARD and I am completely blown away by everything that we've gotten since the first season came out in 2019. Fifteen year old me could not even have imagined!!!

Supernatural - Literal opposite energy. I resisted this show for its entire run, after watching the pilot when it aired and thinking "if I watch this, I will end up shipping the brothers, and I am just not prepared for shipping the brothers." Fifteen years later destiel came in swinging with the steel chair and I grumbled and decided I'd better watch it to find out what all the fuss was about. And do you guys know what? I was right all along. I came away from that show obsessed with it as a gothic horror story and shipping the brothers hard. So wincest is my otp, but I'm a multishipper and I have a soft spot for wincestiel, destiel and sastiel too. As a darkfic enjoyer, I also dabble in John/Dean/Sam and variants. I'm not, like, opposed to less-dark takes on this, they just don't do much for me. I'm pretty careful to tag ships in this fandom consistently, so if you don't want to see something, you can blacklist it.

Lasso (variant spelling of Laso) - weak, exhausted (Ouch...)

Welton (habitational name) - spring/stream + enclosure/settlement

Kent (habitational name) - coastal district?

Jones - John’s son (and John means ‘God is gracious’)

Higgins - From Irish Ó hUiginn meaning ‘descendant of Uiginn’. (A byname meaning ‘Viking’).

Mannion - Anglicized form of Ó Mainnín. Mainnín is derived from Irish manach ‘monk’. (Could there be a name less suited for him??)

The American Film Institute has set a date for its AFI Awards Luncheon, which had been postponed during Christmas Week as the Omicron variant began surging. The reception now is set for Friday, March 11, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The event originally was set for January 7.

PREVIOUSLY, December 20: The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today that the AFI Awards luncheon is postponed. The Luncheon was scheduled to take place on Friday, January 7, but due to concerns over the rising cases of Covid, AFI will reschedule the event for a later date.

Epic Sends Out Survey Listing Potential Crossover Characters Including Peter Griffin, Goku, And Geralt

Epic has sent out a survey to Fortnite players asking them about their interest in certain crossover characters, including Peter Griffin, Goku, and Geralt of Rivia.

Prominent Fortnite insider and leaker ShiinaBR posted the list of possible characters, saying, "Yesterday, Epic sent me a survey in my emails asking for my opinion on many characters/people/franchises. I'll just post some of the most interesting ones here! Remember that Guggimon (Season 7 BP) was also in one of these surveys before he came into the game!"

The list spans several different categories including anime, movies, games, influencers and musical artists. There are some not-so-surprising choices like characters from The Matrix or influencers like Dr Lupo, and then there are some really strange choices like How I Met Your Mother and a slew of Nintendo characters, despite Nintendo not having anyone in the game so far.

Strangely, there are some characters on the list that have already been included in the game, such as Lara Croft, Harley Quinn, Batman, and Kratos. This hints that the survey might be based on old data and choices, or it could simply mean that Epic was measuring the reaction to characters who were already in the game.

There are several inclusions that correlate with files released during the Epic vs. Apple court trial earlier in the year, including Naruto, who was previously mentioned to be in discussion to come to the game. Another interesting choice is Family Guy - which presumably refers to Peter Griffin - which has already been referenced in the game through an emote that shows Peter in an edited version of the chicken fight.

It's worth noting that these characters surveys don't necessarily confirm any of the names mentioned. Epic sends surveys out like this quite often to gauge interest in possible crossovers. As Shiina said, Guggimon was on a previous survey before coming into the game, so they can be taken as little hints at what might be coming to the game.

So, those are the main choices. Wondering which of these will stand out, though my money is on Dragon Ball Z first and foremost.
