Marauders & Dead Poet Society Parallels

(ik a million other people have done this, but im depressed and i need to get this out)

1. James Potter = Neil Perry

Incredibly kind and inclusive, extroverted, charming, golden-boy, the defacto ring leader. His death is the great tragedy of their story.

(also knox and james being absolute simps for a girl until they finally love them back lmao)

2. Sirius Black = Charlie Dalton

Troublemaker, more daring and impulsive than the rest ('Fifth year prank' & telephone from god), major fruity vibes, Best Friend and Right-hand-man of leader. Punished for going after the Traitor (prison/expulsion).

3. Remus Lupin = Todd Anderson

Was a social outcast until welcomed by the boys, the quieter and more level-headed blonde, proves to be a loyal friend. Falls in love with their best friend, and loses them (see: Wolfstar & Anderperry, shut up it's canon). 'Main character' of ATYD and DPS... coincidence? i think not.

4. Peter Pettigrew = Cameron something idfk

More reluctant to be a part of their rule-breaking but still wanted to be a part of the group... until they betrayed the group by revealing their secrets, gets off scot-free too ugh. (in all honesty, i have a soft spot for young peter, cause he was a genuine friend just weaker than his friends. cameron was mostly just annoying)

The Gang - a group of boarding school boys, love the taste of mischief/rebellion and their ultimate secret includes running around the forest in the dead of night.

Their Cause - protesting the oppressive norms of society. Marauders literally fought in a war against the pureblood rhetoric and Voldemort's reign. They illegally became animagi to help Remus through his transformations, even tho werewolves, like muggleborns, were deemed lesser than purebloods. Dead Poets snuck out for their midnight literary meetings to "suck the marrow out of life", at a time when individualism and passion for arts were shunned by their conservative elders. Neil pursued his love for acting in direct disobedience of his father's wishes.

The death of their leader. The marauders ultimately defeat the evil, but a lone man is left in the wake of victory. In DPS, the evil prevails (no justice for Neil, Mr Keating is sent away) but the poets are not alone in their grief. Both stories still leave behind a legacy of hope - Harry, the boy who lived, a symbol of the power of love; the final image of the boys standing on desks symbolising their continuing pursuit for change and free-thinking.

I like to think that how Eddie moved into Richie's house was by pulling up to his door then Richie opens it and says "what are you doing here?" And Eddie's like "I'm moving in Bitch." And shoves his suitcases at Richie. I also like to think that the paparazzi court all of it on tape.
