PICK A PILE READING- (EXPERIMENTAL) what does your body need?
Tumblr media
welcome back my luvs, this is the last part of my experimental saga (for rn at the very least, if anybody wants to offer me some ideas feel free to inbox me or dm me!), i already made a hair and skin version, if you're interested.
of course this is not medical advice but a collective reading made for entertainment purposes, so take what resonates and leave what does not as usual. love u, thank you for being here <3

pile 1: the cards i got for this pile simply scream OVERSTIMULATION. some of you might be neurodivergent, some of you are looking into getting a diagnosis, probably. you might be disassociating a lot lately from your body's needs in favor of mental control or productivity. you’ve projected your energy far into the future but haven’t checked in with the vessel that’s carrying you there. your body feels betrayed or neglected, like you’ve been pushing past limits, avoiding rest, or ignoring signs (like skipping meals, overriding exhaustion, overconsuming caffeine or stimulants, masking pain). there is also a possibility that you’re ignoring or hiding symptoms, anything from chronic tension, hormonal imbalances, to sleep issues or stomach disruptions. it is very important to look more into what's been afflicting you lately because as invincible as we all seem, we are still human and our bodies are still fragile little machines who need to get checked from time to time. you might be also recovering from an injury or past illness atm.
definitely check in with your nervous system (signs of disregulation, insomnia, jaw clenching, digestion sensitivity...remember that chronic stress can also lead to hormonal shifts (ask me how i know), water retention, fatigue). consider taking magnesium and going on slow walks before the evening.
what your body needs rn: i feel like you are aware of the cognitive dissonance you and your body have been experiencing lately and you might have been trying to "over" fix it, as in, trying too many routines at once, trends, diets or stuff from tiktok that you thought was cool or attainable. it's sensory hell. the seven of wands being here could indicate your immune system flaring up, like it's fighting to keep up with your bullshit (sorry), it needs less chaos. you could be dealing with skin flare ups, pms, cycle irregularity or even autoimmune warning signs. investigate those triggers, protect your sleep, make sure to stick to ONE routine (like meals at a set time, sleeping at a set time), slow and repetitive movement for the win. your body is desperately trying to get you to collaborate with it, rebuild trust with it and create something SUSTAINABLE. spiritually, your body is telling you that you’re not meant to be a solo soldier, you’re here to build something with your physical self, not at its expense. most importantly: stop focusing on your brain alone, your body knows more than you think.
pile 2: see, while pile 1 is struggling to put their body first, you might be having the opposite issue here. the king of cups indicates that you're silently suffering, holding everything in and appearing composed but there's something brewing under the surface. like your body might be looking fine but internally there's a flood of stress hormones, mental tension and some somaticized emotions (as in your feelings are turning into physical symptoms). you might be currently struggling with anxiety a LOT and it reflects on your body, like you might be prone to insomnia, muscle tension, chest tightness or digestive issues tied to this emotional overload. you might be also feeling in a constant hypervigilant state all the time or being stuck in survival mode, operating on fear and anxiety. your body is asking you to show it kindness, compassion and to fix the balance between mind and heart. also pay close attention to muscle injuries rn or your knees or thyroid issues, i feel like that's relevant for this pile.
what your body needs rn: your body is showing signs of burnout, post illness fatigue or a nervous system collapse that's been building for a while now. your body wants emotional release and retreat, it needs softness, water, rest, nourishment and silence, even some isolation. deep rest, lots of water, warm salt baths, cry it all out, yoga, WATER!!, soothing and hydrating foods (bone broth, herbal teas, oats, fruits, veggies...), less caffeine, meditation.
pile 3: oh you're in grind mode but there are conflicting energies here. the knight of pentacles is slow, methodical and grounded, he loves habits, discipline and routines but then there's also the knight of wands who is impulsive, fast and who craves excitement and quick results. it's like part of you wants to stick to consistency but another part of you wants adrenaline and chaos. your body is rebuilding something right now, it could be recovering from past stress or making physical upgrades or even stamina building. you are creating a new body as we currently speak. you have energy, but it’s scattered between hustle and healing. your body can go far if you align your pace but right now it’s like pressing gas and brake at the same time. it's unrealistic yk?
what your body needs rn: you need to commit to one thing instead of burning out in too many directions. your body wants you to feel sensual, alive and in movement, you might feel the need to dance more and that's great, you should definitely try that or even doing creative workouts. you have endured a lot physically, there might be some long term tension that hasn't fully healed yet, consider taking things slow. your body needs steadiness and grounded care, think nourishing meals (do not restrict), restful sleep, regularity in movement and nutrition. your bones, muscle, digestion and endocrine system really crave earth energy (solid routines, strength, warmth, safety, think warming foods like cinnamon, ginger, soup, dark greens). i feel like pilates could be a great workout for you if you're interested in that.
thank you so much for reading, have a great day/night <3

🧼 β€” THE FIRST RULE OF MOGAI CLUB IS:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CRASH OUT: a person who reclaims the concept of being a β€œcrash out”, who is always angry and/or frustrated, aggressive and overreacts to minor issues. this might be due to having anger issues, emotional disregulation, being cluster b, constantly being overstimulated, etc
(do not use this to be a glorified bully. there is a difference between recognising/reclaiming one’s symptoms and being content to cause harm)

Apparently, Spinda can contract cerebellar hypoplasia. My girl is extra wobbly. The vet only caught it because he works with Spinda regularly, and was able to notice something off.
The clinic I used to go to for her checkups never noticed, and I doubt anyone who isn't deeply familiar with Spinda ever would.
It's got me wondering, though; what are some diseases that are extremely difficult to notice in a pokemon unless you specialize in their care?
oh, that's fascinating...i wonder how much of an impact that has on her balance and motor function! this is why specialty vets are so important for non-exotic pokemon. the range of information about pokemon biology is so wide that no vet could ever learn it all!
there are tons of potential health issues that are harder to spot depending on the pokemon- heart disease in spoink, muscular degeneration in abra, metabolic disorders in komala and slakoth...but in my opinion the most nefarious issue is any disease where a primary symptom is disregulation of temperature in fire types. fever can be a silent killer in fire type pokemon, because trainers often don't think the check their temperature (or might not even be able to without specialized veterinary equipment!). it's rare that they get to a temperature where it would be lethal, but i have read several case studies of fire types who unfortunately passed away because their fever wasn't noticed until further symptoms developed and their illness worsened. hypothermia is less common, but it's been documented in fire type pokemon belonging to traveling trainers when they stop for a checkup at a pokemon center, all without the trainer noticing.
your spinda's case is obviously very different, because only a specialist would notice that, but this is why it's important to be familiar with the signs of common diseases in any pokemon you own- especially if the pokemon's normal behaviors or morphology may mask signs of illness!

How much variance should be expected between periods? I'm within the first year of having my period, and they've varied a lot. I've had some that were pretty heavy (like having to change pads every two hours) and some that were super light (like lasting 4 days and barely bleeding at all). Also at first I didn't really get cramps, but now I do (they're not bad, just mildly annoying). I've also had variance in emotions (one time I was feeling super depressed right before my period, but other times I barely feel any emotional disregulation at all). Is this normal? Will it sort itself out after a couple years?
Well, that depends! In your first couple of years having a period, variance is to be expected. Both in how regular they are, the amount of bleeding, the symptoms, etc, it's very common for that to vary a lot in at least the first year of having a period.
Often, it sorts itself out. Sometimes it doesn't though and especially if your symptoms occasionally range on the more severe side, that's a good time to get checked out!
For example, if pain from the cramping gets really bad [even if its only sometimes!] or if you start getting depressed to the point of being suicidal [even if it's occasional!], those are immediate signs you should get checked out, ask your doctor to run some tests.
But what you're talking about in of itself [as long as the occasional depression is not severe] is okay and usually regulates eventually. If it doesn't, it's always okay to get checked out just in case if you have the ability.
Hope this helps, Anon! Let me know if you have any other questions. <3

Hello! I hope your having a nice day/afternoon/night. I’m a writer who has a oc with ASPD. I’m doing research and i saw most sites have ableist things and stereotypes about ASPD, and I didn’t want to add that to research. I was wondering if there are any sites or things that gives accurate info and not ableist
Hi!
I am not aware of any actual websites that provide decent info about ASPD beyond the diagnostic criteria and basic treatment info, to be honest? I don't think anyone has actually made a website for compiling info like that!
The thing with ASPD is, that theres not that many (publically available) research articles and those quickly keep repeating the same information, which you often already know from the diagnostic criteria. So in order to really grasp what the condition can look like beyond the stereotypes (which are valid and real presentations too), you sorta need to deepen your understanding of overall psychology.
If we take the impulsivity symptom as an example, you can look at how impulsivity works on an emotional and behavioral level. What makes a person act like that? How does it work neurologically? What can triggers be? How do children get taught to not act impulsively & to instead think about their actions and regulate themselves? How are different kinds of impulsivity responded to socially? What aspect of impulsivity can cause distress for people and how can it interfere with their daily lifes?
Once you understand a certain characteristic like that intrically, you can connect that to what you may already know about how ASPD forms and what sort of "core reactions/lack thereof" ASPD runs on. Theres patterns that, if you connect them with the characteristics mentioned in each symptom and take into account how trauma can influence a persons characteristics, it will just sort of make logical sense and tell you more about what presentations are possible yk?
What I'm trying to say is, that ASPD specific research will only get you so far, especially with ableism making it hard for people, who aren't that familiar with the subject, to differentiate between accurate info and ableism.
At some point you unfortunately just need to get an overall grip on how brains work and how what goes on in them translates into behavior and you need to do that research outside the disorder context in order to get good less biased info. And then you need to do the work yourself and see how the puzzle pieces logically fit together.
I mean...theres no website or article, that tells me that chucking my cup against the wall can be because of my ASPD. But if I do the thinking and understand that ASPD can cause impulsive behavior and sudden bouts of aggression and I understand that theres gonna be some sort of trigger for that, thats probably connected to trauma in some way, I can conclude, that I may have been stressed, that I may have been disregulated or may have somehow been reminded of a traumatic memory/moment and thus reacted impulsively and aggressively and let it out on the only object I currently had: my cup.
No idea if any of this makes sense, but the point is: learn about human brains and learn about them until you can apply psychology related concepts on your own without needing a scientist to give you a list of examples! Thats the point at which you can actually even extract useful info out of ableist articles, because you can spot the ableism. Its a lot of work, but after that you can understand most disorders pretty well and your OC will be accurate portrayal, because you know what humans act/think/feel like.

for this disability pride month, i want to highlight a couple of things with autism and ahdhd, particularly in girls.
if your teen girl is staying up every single night until 3 am doing homework, and she's been at it since 230 pm when she got home from school... that needs to be acknowledged and addressed. thats not normal, even the insane amounts of schoolwork that a white rich school would require for students in those college level courses wouldnt require almost 12 hours of studying a night. especially if her grades don't reflect that level of attention.
if your teen girl forgets things constantly, if she makes mistakes in sending the right documents or doesnt buy what you tell her to at the store, she is not lazy, stupid or malicious. these are symptoms that need to be acknowledged and addressed, this is not normal brain behavior. there is something going on cognitively.
if your teen girl is amazing and lovely until she's explosively angry, she's not an evil person hellbent on ruining the family. this is emotional disregulation, she needs help. these are symptons that need to be acknowledged and addressed.
if your teen girl is talkative and likes being around you until she doesnt, and if she goes silent until she's allowed to go to her room and sleep off the grumpiness, she's not being hateful towards you. she is likely burnt-out socializing and needs to gain her energy back, let her be. this is a symptom that needs to be addressed and acknowledged.
if your daughter constantly needs to chew on gum, even after you berate and shame her for doing so, to the point where her jaw often hurts, this is not her being defiant. this is a symptom and needs to be addressed and acknowledged.
if your daughter walks funny, laughs funny, dances weird, cries too much at commercials that are overly dramatic, and you make her feel bad for displaying any of these traits, you're harming her. let her exist in this world without feeling the need to box in her behavior into "acceptable" mannerisms. unlearn what it means to walk, laugh, dance "funny" and examine why you feel the need to bully people who don't behave in ways you've approved beforehand.
if your daughter has had trouble making friends her entire life and if you often catch her talking to herself in rehearsing full on conversations, she is most likely exhibiting symptoms of autism and these need to be acknowledged and addressed.
if your daughter learned to do things early on and had an extensive vocabulary or skipped the crawling stage and walked immediately, or if your daughter never learned how to "play properly" i.e. she loved having toys but only to organize and line them up and refused to let anyone else touch them, your daughter is exhibiting symptoms of autism that need to be acknowledged and addressed.
if your daughter often refuses to acknowledge her tone or states that "i didnt say it like that" "i didnt say that" or "thats not what i meant" and if she repeatedly tells you "i dont understand what tone you're talking about" she is not gaslighting or manipulating you. she is not being stubborn, she is not lying. she is exhibiting signs of autism that need to be acknowledged and addressed.
if your daughter only likes to eat certain things, to the point that it affects her health, she is not a picky eater. this is a symptom that must be acknowledged and addressed.
if your daughter is black and white in her thinking, to the point where she will argue with you about things that she thinks are objectively unfair or wrong to her, she is not doing it out of spite. she is exhibiting symptoms that must be addressed and acknowledged.
if your daughter loses her shit at not being allowed to sleep in on the weekends, especially if you know she's been pulling 12 hour "study sessions" all week, she is not being spoiled and ungrateful. she is exhibiting signs of autism/adhd burn out and she biologically needs to sleep more than other people to begin with, let alone in the situation that she is currently in.
please stop demonizing the behavior of your teenage daughters and start looking at each individual situation as pieces to a larger puzzle. if your daughter shows a majority of these signs, please start looking at these behaviors as manifestions of the symptoms that are distressing your child in that moment.
autism in girls is often treated as "bad behavior" that parents often try to "discipline" out instead of symptomatic behavior of a disorder that has gone unmanaged and unaccomodated for probably over a decade and half at that point. please treat your daughters with respect, love and dignity even in their worst times because that is when they need the most.
it doesn't help when you demonize your child as being purposely spiteful and hateful towards you, especially if you feel like you've communicated with them sufficiently and they aren't listening or compromising with you at the very least, because your children *do not* want to hurt you. your children are begging to be heard and you refuse to help them.
please research autism and adhd, especially how it can differ in girls versus boys, and please start treating your teenage girls with more love, kindness, and empathy.

I can't believe nobody has pointed this out before? (Small clarification for Robbie: he's happy in a secure romantic relationship. Wendy made him feel insecure, and he took it out on Dipper. Tambry did not, and his whole personality became healthier as a result.)
To be clear, I'm not saying all of these characters have BPD. But I'm also not surprised that a show whose main theme is "Family is Important and Being Rejected Makes You A Little Weird" has a lot of characters that Feel Rejected, and as a result Get a Little Weird. All of these characters are given the chance to form healthy relationships and grow as a result, which is really cool.
For those who don't knows, Borderline Personality Disorder is a traumatic condition that's characterized by things like:
Extreme emotional reactivity
Extreme sensitivity to rejection
A tendency toward black and white thinking
A tendency toward intense but unstable relationships
Alexithymia, or inability to feel/understand/describe one's emotions
Severe anxiety
Self-destruction
It tends to happen when one is consistently rejected or taught to suppress one's identity as a child - usually through intense bullying, abuse, et cetera. People with BPD often struggle to form healthy support networks because the emotional disregulation can make you act inappropriately (stalking, yelling, destroying property) and because there is a lot of social stigma against strong emotions even if you have your behavior well-managed. Therapy can help with the behavioral symptoms, and a strong support network can make the emotions and anxiety much more manageable. (There is no medication for BPD. Medication for comorbid conditions like depression might help.)
Anyway, this is a kids' cartoon, so everyone's behavior is over-the-top and the story arcs are black-and-white by design. I still like them, though.

May we have some RE neurodivergent headcanons pls (diagnoses + symptoms?)
Yes you can my gorgeous Rott. Up until RE5 since that’s the only ones we’ve fully completely played.
Jill Valentine: Autism, alcoholic
She is incredibly trusting and easy to manipulate, completely trusting Wesker and Barry despite being given every reason not to in RE1. She is extremely talented at piano, able to play a complex tune suggesting the fantastic pattern recognition associated with autism. Her response to being betrayed by Barry and Wesker seems to suggest RSD, and the fact she’s reluctant to let anyone be close again… but still trusts fairly easily in RE3 is suggestive of autism.
At the beginning of RE3 we see evidence of extreme drinking as a result of trauma, which also explains her withdrawn behaviour, being so warm in the middle of the night in the American Midwest that she can wear a vest. She has extremely vivid dreams, hallucinations, and disordered sleep and eating.
Chris Redfield: Dyslexia, ADHD
Chris feels incredibly self conscious about his neurodiversity especially when under pressure. It’s one of the reasons he struggles with locks (dyslexia often comes with directional issues and inability to tell left from right), as well as getting overwhelmed and failing when encountering the piano in RE1. His letter in RE2 sounds odd and not like him, likely because it’s all in code but it could also be due to the fact that because of his dyslexia his text tends to sound strange and disconnected. He tends to avoid reading and writing, contrasting colours causing pain in his temples and eyes if he focuses for too long.
Chris can have a temper and tends to act impulsively and not always incredibly rationally, this could be connected to ADHD which comes with mood disregulation and impulsive action due to the brain being unable to create and manage dopamine. He tends to be more focused on physical activities, which makes sense if his hyperactivity means he has more energy and his dyslexia means he focuses on things that don’t give him sensory overload.
Albert Wesker: Autism
His reason for wearing sunglasses constantly is due to an extreme light sensitivity that causes sensory overload and migraines. They are also his safe item which is why he’s so possessive over them and also has emergency pairs. There is also the added benefit of not having to maintain eye contact. His voice tends to be monotone and he can appear emotionless to those who can’t read him very well. His laughter sounds forced and strained, as if he is permanently wearing a mask. He also seems to talk in strange ways similar to autistic people who speak using phrases they’ve learned from media. He wears the same colours and fabrics, suggesting sensory issues. He tends to get extremely possessive over individual people and not socialise very well (William Birkin and Chris Redfield primarily.) He has special interests in: genetics, biology, chemistry, boats, and sharks.
Rebecca Chambers: AuDHD
For both autism and ADHD symptoms mixed: she has a tendency to misplace things or be forgetful, such as the snake venom antidote. She also had a hyperfixation (or special interest) on learning the piano years ago and thus with a little practice could play a particularly difficult tune again. She can be very bubbly and cheerful in strange situations suggesting hyperactivity. She is also is a medic for STARS despite her age making her almost something of a prodigy, something which is also associated with auDHD. She seems to find new situations and places quite stressful and overwhelming (needing to be calmed down repeatedly by Chris.)
Leon Kennedy: AuDHD, Major Depressive Disorder, alcoholism, PTSD
Leon is incredibly trusting to begin with, resulting in him being taken advantage of repeatedly - this is the case with the RPD, Brian Irons, a whistleblower, Annette Birkin, and Ada Wong. He also trusts Claire Redfield and Sherri Birkin instantly which isn’t something that ends badly but it is unwise and surprising. It’s very characteristic of autism, he assumes everyone is upfront and doesn’t try to read between the lines. His reaction to zombies in RE2 is difficult to predict and odd, he tends to have no reaction on occasion and extreme reactions on others. This seems characteristic of autism (as a lack of an outwardly emotional reaction is common) and ADHD (hyperactivity and inattentivity cause inconsistent reactions). He often bows his head and hides behind his hair, and avoiding eye contact. His wording often comes across as awkward, for example when he meets Sherri he just says β€œokay” and forces a smile. In RE4 he often seems like he’s masking by mimicking what someone would say or do in a film. His special interests are true crime, several metal bands, James Bond, and Metal Gear Solid.
Leon’s actions before RE2 suggest someone with severe mood problems who tends to act impulsively. He breaks up with his girlfriend, runs to Raccoon City to join the RPD, even though he doesn’t even have a place to live there. This is indicative of the lack of foresight that comes with ADHD, and also the erratic behaviour that comes with many mood disorders. The fact he desperately wanted to leave his old life behind and start over again suggests he was running away from some kind of pain. RE4 also shows him seeming extremely disconnected and I think it’s fair to say going through an extreme depressive episode. There is also clear trauma, he has flashbacks, and he deals with his PTSD with alcohol.
HUNK: DID, autism
HUNK is an alter who replaced the host of his system. The body has DID, and as a result of severe, prolonged trauma his alters all hold very specific memories. HUNK has disassociative amnesia and is not aware that he has DID. The HUNK alter was created so that the system could do horrific things without the mind of the body being affected, ensuring he is without guilt.
Claire Redfield: BPD, PTSD
In regards to autism, in Code Veronica a letter can be found shows HUNK’s inflexibility and discomfort over thinks he can’t predict. It also shows his fixation on rules which is also show in RE2. He doesn’t wish to stray from his instructions and this can make him extremely one track minded. His voice is monotone, which seems odd to allistic people. He tends to speak in short sentences suggesting he’s low verbal. He constantly has his face covered, perhaps he wants to stay hidden and avoid people looking at him or having to look at other people. His extreme talent is indicative of autism.
Claire gets very attached to Leon extremely quickly, she takes it upon herself to almost be Sherri’s new parent almost immediately, and she seems to be more disconnected from Chris than she lets on (she doesn’t know where he is, she hasn’t heard from him). This suggests trouble maintaining relationships and behaving in an intense manner in them. Her emotions are badly managed - she seems perfectly fine and stoic in RE2, being oddly smiley on occasion. impulsive, which is useful when she’s fighting zombies but suggests that she functions best in high pressure environments.
The way Claire acts regarding protecting Sherri strongly suggests she suffered from extreme trauma as a child. She spots the warning signs of an abused, traumatised child instantly and does everything to protect Sherri. This suggests that she is acting from personal experience. As does the close relationship between Claire and Chris. It’s not uncommon for siblings to become extremely close in abusive environments.
Ada Wong: Bipolar, ADHD
Ada’s inability to commit to one side or another, sudden changes of heart in relationships (Leon and potentially Annette), last minute mind changes (suddenly deciding to side against Wesker), and extremely impulsive actions (deciding to help Leon when it’s against her best interests) suggests bipolar disorder (possibly type 1 with a focus on mania) and ADHD. She seems to experience RSD, as shown by her disappointment when Leon won’t come into the helicopter with her, and the way she reacts to Leon and Luis giving her moments she perceives as rejection. She also has a hardened exterior but she actually is a little bit easier to manipulate than she likes to let on. Whilst Leon isn’t toying with her in RE2 or RE4 it feels as if she’s trusting him a little bit too much than she would like to admit. Wesker definitely seems to be manipulating her in RE4 and it seems to take her awhile to realise.
William Birkin: Autism, body dysmorphia, EDNOS
William’s fixation on the Progenitor virus, and his work as a whole seems to suggest it’s a special interest. He is willing to risk his life and everything else in order to keep working, and he becomes greatly distressed at the idea of getting rid of it and stopping. William doesn’t seem to express affection in a way allistic people understand although his love for his daughter is obvious. He also is a child prodigy which is more common amongst autistic children.
His body is scrawny and unhealthy looking, as if he doesn’t eat enough to sustain his body. He tends to have coffee for meals more than anything else. He also binges on occasion but not massively often. This is primarily because of his extreme body dysmorphia which is why he was so desperate to change his body even if it meant becoming something horrifying beyond human comprehension.
Carlos Oliveira: AuDHD, dyslexia
Carlos has no idea he had any of the three - since his upbringing to did not allow for any of them to be noticed. He mostly assumes he’s the strange one, and is self conscious that he’s the problem. He thinks his dyslexia is his own fault for not trying hard enough, same with his attention span and sensory issues. He forces eye contact even though it hurts him. He masks to intensely he suffers from burnout often. It’s because of this that he is fairly easy to manipulate, as shown by how easily he trusts Umbrella despite their evil nature. It also gave him hyperempathy and intense sense of justice which is why he is so quick to help Jill. He also likely is so enraptured with her as the first person he’s ever met who openly thinks and acts like he does. Or how he would if he didn’t hide himself so much.
Luis Serra: ADHD
Luis has a hyperactive streak, he tends to be quite playful and often uses it as a coping mechanism so that he doesn’t feel the sting of RSD. If he is seen as annoying and not someone to be taken seriously then it doesn’t hurt quite as much. He also has the ability to hyperfixate which is why he is so talented at chemistry, and his hypersensitivity, emotional deregulation, and sensitive to manipulation is likely why he stayed with Umbrella for so long.

It's so frustrating that people are so determined to fight each other
And like I know it's from decades of propaganda
But it's still like when I list things that I want everyone goes oh so you're on my side of the political spectrum
Not everyone's political goals align but I think if we could focus on the ones that match enough we could get some shit done
Here is some stuff that I know all sides want based on conversations
Keep national parks protected
Regulate insurance companies
Things being produced and bought locally (yes there are nuances but both sides do want it we just worry about different nuances)
Bringing back and protecting traditional skills (leather crafting, fabric making, sewing, theres way more but I know about these specifically)
Literacy (we both agree literacy is important we just argue about the books that people should be allowed to read but like lets get people able to read with actual media literacy first)
Owning livestock and gardening (we all want to be less dependent on big box stores and corporations)
The right to hunt responsibly (I have even met vegans who agree with this they just prefer the meat goes to other animals rather than humans, but that off topic)
Good and free public transportation (Everyone I have met hates having to deal with idiots on the road and would be happy with public transportation if it was on time, clean and free)
Tax breaks for local businesses rather than big corporations
Kids should be kids (crazy that this is a political topic. If you don't know schools have been pressured to do less learning through play and removing play all together from curriculum for preschoolers and kindergarteners. Which is crazy detrimental to behavior health and will lead to the kids being unable to focus and disregulated emotional outbursts that can be completely avoided with some educational play, also ipad kids are a problem)
These are just what I can think of off the top of my head. I know there's more but I just can't think of it
But this is already ten things. Ten goals we could all work towards together before we get into the things we disagree on
And what I have found is a lot of the stuff we disagree on is just symptoms of some of these issues so working on these goals could help other issues at least loosen up their tangles so we can work through it with compromise
Remember we're all in the same class and the ruling class has just full on admitted that we are an oligarchy with the 1% in charge by charging Mangione with terrorism
The only way we can defend ourselves from tyranny is working together

Okay fam, how do we think Raine died? And please let me know if it's been word-of-god'ed somewhere. I don't think I've ever seen it.
I have a thought. I wouldn't even call it a theory because I have virtually no evidence to support it. It's more like... what I would find interesting.
I'm overthinking a 25-year-old videogame again...
Lil bit of a trigger warning here... Mention of some severe impacts of mental illness.
Honestly, I hate the "died in childbirth" thing. It's just... vague. Uninteresting. I don't know, kind of lazy. Okay, maybe she did die as a side effect of having Squall, but how? There's more than one way to die in childbirth.
And I am not saying dying in childbirth is unrealistic--it definitely is realistic, unfortunately--but I kind of hate how introducing a pregnant character and then killing them is always joined with the (again VERY BROAD) concept of "dying in childbirth."
Maybe it's just because I'm a Star Wars fan and Padme's death ruined me for "died in childbirth" as a suitable end for a pregnant character. I also just get annoyed in general how frequently pregnancy and childbirth in sci-fi/fantasy media is seen as something alien or bad or the end of a character. There's so many episodes where pregnancy is used as a parasitic plot point. I could go on.
And how often a mother is just killed off with "died in childbirth" off screen... It's just lazy! It's like saying a guy died because he "went off to war." Is it realistic? Sure. But specifics, backstory, please!!
But like!! These women have already done the incredible act of carrying a child, sometimes through war zones and major stressors, or, in Raine's case, while completely alone and waiting for her husband to come back from saving her adoptive daughter. If she "had" to die (at least in the eyes of the writers) immediately after Squall is born, I want her to have a death more specific to her character and more interesting overall! Also, it would be nice if she had SOME time with our little baby Squall, no matter the circumstances... Now, the way I think about Raine's death isn't exactly a nice way to die (if there is a such thing), but I think it would be enough to lock her ghost in Winhill. And, again, I think it gives her plot a realism that I want it to have.
Here is where I launch into some pretty reaching headcanons so... buckle up.
So Squall, we can all agree, exhibits signs of depression. He's able to push through it, because lots of us depressed people adapt to do that, but he definitely does. From what I know about therapy and psychology, I'd also say he has C-PTSD but that's another story.
But I'd like to propose that Squall is not just depressed, but potentially even bipolar.
Now, the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for bipolar disorder requires at least one manic episode followed by a depressive episode or hypomania. I don't believe Squall has ever experienced mania... But the thing about bipolar disorder is that a lot of times, it presents as depression until it isn't anymore. And for some individuals, that moment doesn't come until their late 20s or older. Hell, treating depression is sometimes what reveals the underlying disorder: Sometimes SSRIs trigger mania in bipolar patients.
I could see him experiencing hypomania, though. Accidentally training for 12 hours straight, racing thoughts, extreme agitation.
What we do see in the game is risk-taking behaviors, racing thoughts, anxiety, disregulated mood, feelings of worthlessness, difficulty sleeping, isolation... These are symptoms of C-PTSD, but ALSO bipolar disorder.
(which, his history of trauma makes him more vulnerable to bipolar disorder as well)
I will admit, I hc Squall this way because I see myself in him, and I was a high-functioning depressed person who had my first manic episode in my late 20s. But what I figure is, while he was probably never written to be bipolar, there's nothing in the game that completely refutes it.
ANYWAY, bipolar disorder is hereditary. It's not only hereditary, but it plays a part.
So here we go, this is the end I have in mind for Raine, and it's not a happy end, but I think it's realistic and I think it's worth representing in media. Trigger warning.
I think Raine was bipolar. We don't see enough of her in the game to know, but if Squall is (in my head) she might be too. I think she had a complicated pregnancy and that Ellone being kidnapped and Laguna leaving (reasonably) put her under a lot of stress. Any symptoms she had under control with medication/therapy/etc. probably flared. Who knows if she had her same access to resources, seeing that Laguna was gone.
I think, maybe, she suffered from postpartum psychosis. She might have had a few good days, weeks with Squall until things got bad. It would have been terrifying for her, and the people of Winhill, the delusions, the hallucinations. I can't imagine there is a doctor in Winhill that can help with that. And maybe, one of those hallucinations led her to her end.
Such a terrible death likely would have traumatized the people of Winhill, who we know cared deeply about her. Maybe they sent Ellone away so she'd never know; maybe they sent Squall away because he was too much of a reminder.
Thus ends my very sad Raine's death head canon.
My next long project may involve tackling this kind of stuff. I love writing/researching mental health!!

Hi! I'm rlly tired and typing is very taxing for me (cuz OCD) so this is gonna be disorganized, but I really need some help with smth. I'm a selfdiagnosed autistic and ADHD a long with the proffessionally diagnosed OCD, andmy parents keep lecturing me on reacting "in the normal range of reactions" when it comes to anything and I don't think they understand that sometimes I physically cannot. how do I explain this? also I would not end up in a good place if I ended up telling them I think I'm autistic and ADHD. also lately I've been unmasking bcuz I'm in Argentina and its actually a way better place for nuerodivergent people its awesome anyway I'm going back to the us and I'm really scared cuz I don't know if I can rebuild my mask in time to no be judged. and my support needs are fluctuating a lot and I'm kinda scared about if I fully lose control what do I do. anyway sorry bye ill do another ask about argentina later cuz I think it would interest you anyway thx bye.

(I rlly like sheep that's why btw)
Hi! Emotional disregulation (which is what it sounds like you're struggling with) is associated with OCD as well as autism and ADHD, so you could explain it as part of OCD if you'd prefer to avoid bringing up autism or ADHD. Here's a study about it you could use to back you up if you're explaining to your parents:
"Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is associated with emotion regulation impairments...Additionally, these patients exhibit elevated stress levels. Since stress exposure affects emotion regulation abilities, stress might influence the relationship between obsessive-compulsive symptoms and emotion regulation." from Stress Influences the Effect of Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms on Emotion Regulation
And here's an article about why autistic people can struggle with their emotions and reactions:
I'm sorry to hear you're anxious about returning to the US - I'm not in the US myself so I don't really know what support is out there but I'm sure there are groups and organisations that could help. Can any of my other followers give advice or make suggestions?
I hope your parents are willing to listen and understand, but if they don't, please know that that's on them and not you. You don't deserve to be lectured constantly just because you don't show emotions in the way they expect you to ❀️
Also please do send me an ask about Argentina! I'd love to know what it's like for neurodivergent people there! :)
Please enjoy this herd of sheep -> πŸπŸ‘πŸπŸ‘πŸπŸ‘

not to be petty about a person on Instagram but like if you make a post titled "ADHD Book Recs", and then, instead of sharing books that actually have MCs with adhd or books written by authors with adhd, you just list books (mostly by nt/non-adhd authors about nt/non-adhd characters) that Vibe Aesthetically with a list of "symptoms" (many of which are not actually adhd symptoms. "A sense of impending doom" is not an adhd thing. Also a book being apocalyptic does not make it relevant to adhd emotional disregulation catastrophizing. The same way a book being set in space does not make it relevant to the symptom of "spacing out".), I'm coming to burn your crops and set a plague upon your house. I don't care if you say you have adhd yourself. Give me some actual adhd recs instead of whatever this shallow aesthetic nonsense is. Like I know I'm disproportionately annoyed by this stupid post but like. fuck bro, aren't u tired?

What makes one psychotic? /genq
From our understanding (and please know that we are not a professional), psychosis deals with and relates to a disconnect from reality.
Whether it's hallucinations, delusions, or other things that prevent someone from knowing what is "real" and "not real".
There are many causes, such as having a schizo-spec disorder, stress, substance use, ect, with some being temporary or long-term.
There's often other symptoms, such as cognitive impairment (disjointed thoughts, "word salad", ect) and emotional disregulation.
It's less a specific condition and more a collection of symptoms associated with several conditions.
We hope this helped, and of course, if anyone has more information or we misunderstood something, please let us know!

temperature disregulation is such a fun symptom, like wdym it's 17Β°C (62F) outside still?! I'm sitting here wrapped in a blanket with multiple handwarmers freezing my arse off to the point I cant feel my toes and also all my bones feel cold. You know when you've been outside too long and you just feel cold inside as well? yeah, like that, I have icecube bones currently
And the best part? coming out if winter this is a temp. I'd potentially be fighting overheating already Β°^Β°

Just a little reminder that you can't be an ally to neurodivergent people while stigmatizing cluster b disorders.
1. You don't get to pick and choose which disabilities you think are valid and deserving of respect.
2. Many of the symptoms of cluster b disorders are seen in other neurodivergencies (ex. Low empathy, emotional disregulation, sensitivity to criticism or rejection, poor impulse control, etc...). Demonizing theese symptoms negatively impacts everyone who has them.
3. Every disabled person deserves respect, accommodations, and medical care! Many medical professionals refuse to treat people with cluster b disorders because of the stigma you are helping to re-inforce.
(TL;DR) Cluster B disorders are just as valid as any other neurodivergence and you should show them the same support you give to the rest of the community.
