this morning i drove my husband and daughter to the airport because they left on their summer trip to japan without me (sob), and the house is really quiet and i don't really know how to handle it because i haven't lived alone in 10 years? lol what the fuck is this, what do you MEAN i can do whatever i want??? it's a strange juxtaposition of already missing my baby and at the same time feeling like a real person again for the first time in over 4 years now that i'm not responsible for keeping a tiny human alive constantly. parenthood continues to be the most exhausting opposing emotions happening at the same time literally every day lmao

(two years ago, i went to a football game at my alma mater with a very long-time also-mom friend of mine. it was one of the first times i was away from my daughter since she was born. i cried in the stands. like, i fucking cried, because i felt like myself again, and i hadn't even realized how much i had missed all those parts of myself i had lost. last year, i visited @perhapswhoknowsvamp last summer, and it was the first time i spent even a NIGHT away from my kid. she was 3. i love my daughter more than i will ever be able to put into words, but NOBODY prepares you for how much of yourself you sacrifice when you have a baby. i think i saw someone say that every 5 years of your child's life, you can reclaim one hobby you used to have again. this feels correct. and it's honestly the most devastatingly difficult part of being a parent, for me.)
