I plan to go into more detail on this when I sit down to write my full thoughts on Sonic 3, but what was the reason for erasing Maria’s disability? They didn’t need to make it a huge deal if they didn’t want to - maybe just a line about her having a chronic illness or a scene in a montage with her in the lab being tested. But instead they just made her able bodied? I don’t get it.

While Sonic felt an immediate spark of attraction towards Shadow, it wasn't love. Not even close. It was curiosity, with potential for something more, but he didn't think much of it. Shadow was an enemy he had to beat, after all, and Sonic had a mission to complete, friends to help, a world to save. You know how it is.

Shadow didn't feel anything towards Sonic at first except annoyance. Sonic wasn't strong enough to be acknowledged as a proper rival. The most special thing about him was that he, too, was a hedgehog, but Shadow is the best one anyway, so why bother thinking about it further? Shadow had a mission to accomplish, a promise to keep, and a friend to avenge.

But, despite all of this, something about Sonic gets him to stop. Was it his words or something else? Shadow is not sure, but suddenly he's sitting on the Moon watching the sunrise over Earth and he is reminded of another person sitting next to him watching these same stars. For a moment, he thinks he hears the phantom of Her voice next to him. He looks over, and there stands Sonic, smiling softly and reaching his hand out to him despite everything he's done. Shadow feels a warmth surging up from inside him and knows that his heart didn't die with Her because he can feel it beating faster than it ever did in over fifty years.

Shadow falls hard, he falls fast, and he falls with his entire being.

It's a while until the two meet again, but his heart still beats just as hard as it did that day. Not a fluke, then. He doesn’t let his emotions show but, against his better judgement, they keep meeting up and teaming up. Growing closer. Until one day not even Shadow can deny that they are friends.

And Sonic loves all his friends. Of course he does! That's the type of guy he is. So he still thinks nothing of how happy catching Shadow's eyes make him. How a brush of hands can make his stomach flutter. How his eyes linger more than they should. It goes on like this until he has the sudden urge to kiss him.

The thought catches him off guard at first, but when he examines his feelings a bit more closely... he's in love with Shadow, isn't he? He doesn’t know when this happened, but he knows it's true. He looks back at Shadow — who is asking him if he's acting more dumb than usual because he hit his head too hard (idiot. Sonic can hear the masked concern in his voice, and it brings butterflies to his stomach) — and that thought comes again, just as loud as the first time. "I want to kiss him".

And so, Sonic does.

It's awkward at first, and things are not easy, but it all works out in the end. Because Sonic may have fallen in love gradually, bit by bit, so naturally he didn't even notice until his love snuck up on him, but Shadow's love hit him all at once, and he will never let go of it.

is tumblr a safe space to hate on sonic 3 (2024) because i am being so serious when i say that if i had unspeakable amounts of money i would send ken penders money for a blank cheque sonic movie because it would be a far more interesting artistic piece than what i just saw in the cinema

the thing with sonic 3 is I can't even be too mad at it. I knew that was going to happen. i love action too much. sonic and shadow had a high speed chase, shadow did the akira slide up a fucking building and then they beat each other up on the moon man. i am a weak weak man when it comes to cool as fuck action scenes and they made that movie for me, I was partly blind to everything else that was happening tbh. I actually will have to rewatch this movie to say anything coherent about it

Reasons why Tails as a villain is not the likely outcome:

Character integrity:Tails is generally considered a loyal and supportive character in the Sonic universe, making a sudden shift to villainy a drastic change that might not resonate with fans.

Story potential:A more compelling narrative would likely focus on giving Tails a more prominent role and showcasing his abilities and character development, rather than turning him against Sonic.

Fan reception:Many fans are already voicing concerns about Tails' limited screen time and character arc in the previous movies, so making him a villain could further alienate the audience. 

What could happen instead:

More prominent role:The next Sonic movie could give Tails a bigger storyline and more agency, allowing him to contribute significantly to the plot and showcase his skills. 

Character development:The filmmakers could focus on developing Tails' internal struggles and motivations, making him a more complex and relatable character. 

Exploration of his abilities:The movie could delve deeper into Tails' mechanical prowess and flying skills, giving him more opportunities to shine in action sequences.

I don't take issue with this because it's clear the characters in the movies aren't 1:1 recreations of their game counterparts, but the way they chose to go about Gerald's characterization in the movie was certainly a...choice HAHAHAHAHA.

I can only laugh now, but the scene where he is killed suddenly and remorseless-ly had me in stunned silence for a few seconds. For my mom by my side and other people in the theater that aren't super familiar with the games, it was just an evil guy getting his comeuppance—for me it was fricking Gerald Robotnik getting obliterated by own grandson after spending the whole movie being his (admittedly funniest) most un-sympathetic self. I was shocked.

Yk its hilarious seeing Paramount say that Shadow needed to be different than Knuckles so the power of friendship wont heel face turn him when if they had just stuck to the source material they wouldn’t have that problem.

I understand the desire to want Shadow and Stone to bond, but what I want for Shadow is for him to find a meaning in life beyond his grief, to find friends and something like a home; and what I want for Stone is for him to Get Worse, and you can see how those don't mesh well.

It was great! I went and saw it with my bf and his family + some other friends and the best part for me was how excited the kids were about Shadow.

I’m glad they kept Shadows backstory even if there were some changes I wish didn’t happen but over all they did him good!

Every actor and voice actor did great! Jim Carrey was an icon as always as well.

There were parts where the pacing was off and the humor fell flat but I thought it was great! Solid 9/10 I just wish they had the “I found you faker!” scene and “Sayonara Shadow the hedgehog”.

also please tell me I’m not the only one who thought he was gunna say “I’ve come to make an announcement!” at this part
