🥞 Pancakes 🥞
Movie! Shadow x Platonic! Reader
Genre: Fluff, Cozy, Silly
Word Count: 1,503 words
⚠️ Warning: None, except little embarrassment
Summary: Hi guys! I got excited about my last Shadow fic so I wrote another one! The songs I used are this one & this one btw, but this fic is more casual than the previous one so it’s much shorter too. Inspired by when my Mom recently caught me dancing (lol).
Tumblr media
I want to spend my life
With a girl like you!
Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba,
Faint words filtered through Shadow’s ears as his eyelids fluttered open. It took him a while to fully realize he was awake, but thankfully he didn’t feel too heavy. He rested for a minute before sitting up and scooting over to the bedside.
It wasn’t very bright, surprisingly. He saw the blinds had been left open and the dark gray sky filtered over the room. Raindrops scattered across glass, making a rhythmic noise, but it felt nice.
Till that time has come,
That we might live as one!
Can I dance with you?
Perking up at the cool words, he shuffled his way towards the door and into the hallway. The sound grew louder before Shadow realized it was music playing, and a buttery smell accompanied it.
Most of the lights were off since it wasn’t exactly dark out, but only one or two yellow lights shone above the kitchen stove. With you moving and swaying there in a very strange manner. Shadow would hardly call it dancing: you were just bobbing up and down, tossing your head and holding a spatula to your face. If he didn’t know you prior he would’ve thought you looked foolish. But you were his friend now, he wasn’t about to judge.
Girl, why should it be
That you don't notice me?
“Can I dance with you?— OhmygoshShadow!!"
You yelped loudly as you quickly jolted back, surprised— and embarrassed— to find Shadow standing behind you. Your spatula knocked into a bowl of pancake batter, sending a blob of beige-white goo down to the floor.
“Ohshoot-sorry! I didn’t see you there bud!”
“No, I should’ve said something.”
You rushed to grab a paper towel and swipe the batter off your tiles, but Shadow beat you to it.
“Nah, it’s all good! I should’ve been paying attention.” You chuckled and grabbed another one, soaking it under the sink then cleaned any excess mush.
“Is that The Troggs playing?” Shadow asked, tossing the mess into the trash can.
You quickly lowered the stove temperature and nodded, “Yup! They’re awesome huh! I love their songs.”
You were about to scoop up some more batter, then paused for a minute.
“Wait—You know The Troggs?!” You exclaimed, swinging your face back around.
“Mmhmm,” Shadow nodded. “I’ve heard only one song, until now.”
You gave a mental “huh” before going back to your pancakes. Even hedgehogs had good taste in music. Who knew?
It had been a full month now since Shadow started living with you, and even without teleportation, he still had ways of surprising you.
You were home all day since it was the weekend, but Shadow had spent most of his time in his room. He usually did; if you weren’t up and about neither was he. In a way, he was like your own little shadow. You never pressed what he did alone, but judging by his expression, he had just woken up from a nap.
“What are you doing?” Shadow peered over the counter, quills twitching with curiosity.
“Just makin’ some pancakes. They’re a little crispy though.”
You slid a slightly burnt piece onto a plate. The pretty golden circles stood in a short stack and gave off an amazing smell. You could see Shadow lean closer as his red eyes grew bigger.
“They’re…pancakes?” He stated his words as if asking a question, but to himself. Which made you curious.
“Yep! I know it’s weird having breakfast for lunch, but I wanted to make something different this time.”
“Uh huh.” He drawled. “They smell nice.”
His brows scrunched up and down, spreading more confusion across his face as Shadow watched the pan sizzle. Pancakes seemed like such an alien concept to him, ironically.
“Shadow?” You asked. “Have you ever had a pancake before?”
He paused again, but shook his head. “No. Are they any good?”
“Uh–yes!! They’re delicious!”
To say you were surprised was an understatement: how could he not know about pancakes?
Until the realization hit you that he probably hasn’t even seen pancakes before. You didn’t know where Shadow came from, and have avoided mentioning it in the past. Even after you became friends. In all that time spent together, you hardly knew a thing about him. And he still seemed reluctant to share.
Movement shook you from your daze as Shadow picked up your spatula, poking the goo in the bowl like a little kid. His story would have to wait for another day. Your top priority: showing him the best brunch ever.
Life could be a dream! Life could be a dream!
Do do do do, SH-Boom!
Your phone quickly changed its tune as The Chords started playing. It couldn’t have picked a more perfect song.
“Why don’t you give this a try Shadow!” You scooted the pan closer to him, turning off the heat and switching it to the other side.
“Me?” He fumbled with the spatula.
“Yea, why not! Don’t worry I’ll help you.” You gave a cheeky grin, “Besides, it’ll be fun to learn. Right?”
Shadow opened his mouth to reply, but shut it quickly. You had always made meals for him, or either helped him make them. Even when you were gone there’d always be something from the previous night, or wrapped up in plastic.
But you had a point, he couldn’t rely on you for everything. Especially now. If he was going to stay, he’d have to start pulling his weight around.
“Alright,” He tugged back his gloves and set himself behind the stove. “I’m ready.”
You poured a cup of batter into the pan. For such a serious character, he looked so adorable.
You two waited for a few minutes before you set your hand on his arm, helping him flip the pancake to the other side. It shifted a little, making tiny splatters, but the color was perfect. For the second one you let him do it himself, and it looked far better than the first.
Life could be a dream! SH-Boom!
If I could take you to a paradise up above,
SH-Boom! And tell me darling,
“I’m the only one that you love!” You shimmied back and forth to the music as Shadow continued to pour and flip the batter.
For a first timer he was doing incredibly well! Fast even; his pancakes came out looking far better than yours! To which Shadow claimed could only come natural to him. You shot a surprised look, but you were happy seeing him loosen up. After a little while, Shadow even joined in your silly dance moves. His shoes tapped along to the beat, and you could see his body bouncing as he mouthed the lyrics. You tried giving him a little bump of encouragement, til he stopped and looked at you strangely.
“Wow!” You coughed, “You’re really getting the hang of this bud.”
Shadow rolled his eyes but he kept smiling. “Thanks. This is..easier than I expected.”
After a short while, you two had a full stack of pancakes. You quickly shut off the stove and tossed the bowl into the sink. Maneuvering the food to the countertop, you pulled out two little plates. You were about to grab the butter, but Shadow beat you once again.
“Can I do it?” The container looked so small in his big hands.
You nodded and found a plastic knife in the drawers. Leaving Shadow to butter the pancakes while you looked for the syrup.
You came back from the pantry with a tall bottle in your hands, and to say Shadow was amazed was a clear understatement. The light in his eyes when the dark syrup trickled down the edible tower was enough to brighten any room.
You two settled at the table, plates in hand. Meals were typically had together nowadays, but each time it felt different somehow. Shadow had come a long way, going from a worrisome little thing to a happy hedgehog! And you couldn’t be prouder.
“‘Kay bud, dig in!” You pushed your fork into the food and Shadow did the same, cutting it into bite sized pieces.
Everything seemed normal, until after a few bites Shadow stopped. He just sat there, chewing, but his expression quickly changed. It wasn't confusion, more like—a blank expression?
“Shadow?” You said through your food. “You doin’ okay there?”
Oh how you hoped he didn’t grab the burnt one.
In an instant, Shadow took a larger piece and shoved it in his mouth. He only half chewed before doing the same thing. He did this three more times and it took him about a minute to finish half the plate.
Syrup coated his mouth, and he swallowed hard before speaking. “You were right. Pancakes are the superior choice.”
That was all he said before stuffing his face again.
“Yea-I-erm—yea! Well, I’m glad you like them!”
You rushed over to sink and grabbed a cup of water. Thinking next time, you should just make eggs instead.
❣️—THE END—❣️

I feel a little embarrassed to upload this but I have no more ideas
Tumblr media
These last few days I've been rewatching the Deadpool movies and I think I've developed a little obsession with drawing Sonic in a Deadpool suit.
Maybe I'll upload some doodles of that later.

While Sonic felt an immediate spark of attraction towards Shadow, it wasn't love. Not even close. It was curiosity, with potential for something more, but he didn't think much of it. Shadow was an enemy he had to beat, after all, and Sonic had a mission to complete, friends to help, a world to save. You know how it is.
Shadow didn't feel anything towards Sonic at first except annoyance. Sonic wasn't strong enough to be acknowledged as a proper rival. The most special thing about him was that he, too, was a hedgehog, but Shadow is the best one anyway, so why bother thinking about it further? Shadow had a mission to accomplish, a promise to keep, and a friend to avenge.
But, despite all of this, something about Sonic gets him to stop. Was it his words or something else? Shadow is not sure, but suddenly he's sitting on the Moon watching the sunrise over Earth and he is reminded of another person sitting next to him watching these same stars. For a moment, he thinks he hears the phantom of Her voice next to him. He looks over, and there stands Sonic, smiling softly and reaching his hand out to him despite everything he's done. Shadow feels a warmth surging up from inside him and knows that his heart didn't die with Her because he can feel it beating faster than it ever did in over fifty years.
Shadow falls hard, he falls fast, and he falls with his entire being.
It's a while until the two meet again, but his heart still beats just as hard as it did that day. Not a fluke, then. He doesn’t let his emotions show but, against his better judgement, they keep meeting up and teaming up. Growing closer. Until one day not even Shadow can deny that they are friends.
And Sonic loves all his friends. Of course he does! That's the type of guy he is. So he still thinks nothing of how happy catching Shadow's eyes make him. How a brush of hands can make his stomach flutter. How his eyes linger more than they should. It goes on like this until he has the sudden urge to kiss him.
The thought catches him off guard at first, but when he examines his feelings a bit more closely... he's in love with Shadow, isn't he? He doesn’t know when this happened, but he knows it's true. He looks back at Shadow — who is asking him if he's acting more dumb than usual because he hit his head too hard (idiot. Sonic can hear the masked concern in his voice, and it brings butterflies to his stomach) — and that thought comes again, just as loud as the first time. "I want to kiss him".
And so, Sonic does.
It's awkward at first, and things are not easy, but it all works out in the end. Because Sonic may have fallen in love gradually, bit by bit, so naturally he didn't even notice until his love snuck up on him, but Shadow's love hit him all at once, and he will never let go of it.

Regarding Gerald in Sonic 3
(SPOILERS!!)
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about how Gerald Robotnik was depicted in the third Sonic movie, and I have some observations.
I'm sure some fans have been comparing Gerald as shown in the film versus the games and taken note of not only how much sillier he is in the movie, but also how he's depicted as being considerably more villainous.
There are a couple things to consider though. In the games (especially since Shadow Generations) the majority of what we see of Gerald is from before the tragedy on the ARK and losing Maria, and we only get brief bits of him after he lost his sanity.
However in the movie it's the exact opposite situation. Almost everything we see of Gerald in the film is after Maria's death and he's clearly lost his sanity. Not only that, but because Gerald in the film never got executed, he spent many decades in a prison cell, stewing in his despair and rage, becoming more and more bitter and deranged while also extending his lifespan to an unnatural length by dosing himself with chaos energy from Shadow's quill.
But you might say, "Gerald in the movie only saw Shadow as a tool and didn't love him." While there's evidence of that being true in the present day, there's little to suggest that's the case in the very brief bit we see of Gerald in the flashback he's shown in before Maria's death. I personally think Gerald did have a fondness for Shadow before the tragedy, likely through observing Maria's close friendship with him. When Gerald retrieves Maria and Shadow to flea the facility he refers to them both collectively as "children", meaning he possibly had a similar fondness for both of them. I think that after Maria's death though, Gerald's slipping sanity, disillusionment with humanity, and obsession with avenging Maria's death, probably made him lose sight of the love he once had for Shadow.
And there is even evidence of the same thing happening in the games, with Gerald treating Shadow as little more than a tool for his posthumous plan for genocidal vengeance, which would have ended with Shadow's death too. Gerald even tampered with Shadow's memories of Maria to ensure he'd carry out his plans.
There's also evidence in the games of Gerald having an ego similar to Eggman's, shown by him modeling the ARK to resemble his face. Gerald even sheepishly confessed in his journal he was being self indulgent when designing the ARK. So it would seem in the games Gerald does possess at least some of the negative traits shared with his grandson, though he's self aware of these flaws and tries to suppress them. Gerald in the movie however is at a point where he's way past caring, since he's already decided to destroy the earth and everyone on it, so he's just letting his freak flag fly. lol
So if Gerald hadn't been executed in the games, who knows how he might have turned out. Gerald being executed was probably a mercy, really...
And it should also be noted that Sega themselves even considered resurrecting Gerald as a villainous character in the early production of Shadow's solo game.
Tumblr media
That actually brings me to another thing I was thinking about while watching the movie. In Sonic 3, they repeatedly emphasize how similar Eggman and Gerald are in appearance, quirks, skills, and even wearing near identical outfits at the end. Sonic even collectively refers to them both as "Eggmen".
This stood out to me because it reminded me of the Rush games where Eggman teamed up with Eggman Nega, a character that was near identical to Eggman, but having a greying mustache and a darker, more twisted personality.
As I've mentioned in previous posts, I've had a theory that the scrapped plot point of resurrecting Gerald as a villain is what led to the creation of the Eggman Nega character. So seeing Gerald as depicted in the movie was like seeing it all come full circle. lol
But anyway, yeah, this has been another stream of consciousness rant from me. Maybe you got something out of this, or maybe not. Oh well. lol
And just to make myself clear, I am NOT trying to argue that Gerald is a bad person in the games (at least before Maria died). If what I said came across like that, then I'm sorry, but that was definitely not my intention.

I had this idea at 3am when I was thinking about how in the movies, team sonic (+ Shadow) all have dead/no parents, and so I made this the next day. I’m aware this is probably not as funny as my sleep deprived brain thought it was, but I’m posting it anyway because I think it’s pretty.

🍲 Soup 🍲
Movie! Shadow x Platonic! Reader
Genre: Fluff, Cozy, Some Comfort
Word Count: 1,940 words
⚠️ Warning: There’s nothing scary in here, but Shadow is hurt for a little bit. He’s okay though, promise!
Summary: Hey guys! So this is the first fic I’ve ever written on Tumblr, but I came up with this when I couldn’t sleep the other night. My mom has also been making alot of soup this week so I felt inspired! I hope you all enjoy, and stay warm!
Tumblr media
The bitter wind sent shivers through your body as you struggled to get your key in the door. Grayish clouds fumbled over one another, but you managed to get inside before any rain fell.
“Hey bud! I’m back!” You called. Silence filled your home except for the sound of keys jingling against the broken lock. Two plastic grocery bags were filled to the brim with goods, but they soon felt like weights on your arms as you pulled. You tried one more time and the key popped out, sending you tumbling.
A swift, sharp sound filled your ears and something pushed against your back. You gently moved forward and one of the bags on your arm was taken into gloved hands. To your right, a short black creature with big red eyes glanced up at you. A little frown sketched on his face.
“Are you okay?” He asked. You nodded and gave him a smile.
“Yea, thanks Shadow!”
Shadow said nothing. He only hummed and grabbed the other bag from you. You set the rest of your things down before taking out a big bag of rice. Shadow didn’t say anything but you could tell he was curious, his little red quills shuffling in the corner of your eye. He watched you take out the ingredients one by one, only stopping to look at a giant red pepper.
It had been over a week or two since you found him, after he crashed your fishing trip. Literally: he had crashed through your rowboat sending you flying along with it when he fell from the sky. He would’ve scared the living daylights out of you if he hadn’t been injured, but after fishing him from the lake you took him home. Which was—an “interesting” experience to say the least.
He was asleep for a few days at first, but any wounds he had were dried and bandaged. Which he did not like: once he woke up, he glared and growled when you came in to change them. He even teleported outside the house, leaving you speechless as you tried searching for him. After a few hours he eventually came back before sundown, but didn’t speak a word.
The idea of taking him to the authorities or some kind of clinic seemed like a bad idea. Especially if he wasn’t fond of people, but he couldn’t get better if someone didn’t help. So you took baby steps.
He wasn’t a picky eater thank goodness, so you left food on a tray outside your guest room. You tried making it healthy, sandwiches or salads were an easy meal and pretty good for the body. You hoped he was able to eat human food but luckily he did without a fuss. Leaving empty dinnerware and only a few crumbs. And blueberries if you served it, for some reason he didn’t like those.
Once he started healing he was up and about. Mostly to return his dishes or wash his hands in the bathroom. You tried making conversation then, introducing yourself while you made dinner and asking how he felt. Shadow told his name, only once, watching you pour two bowls of tomato soup. After his turn he teleported away.
So the guy wasn’t a big extrovert, but that was okay! All he needed was time, and these past few days he seemed to be coming around. Having helped you put your things away whenever you came home or simply greeting you from the couch. One time you were even welcomed with a clean kitchen!
Shadow’s presence was making you soft, feeling all the more eager to come home after a long day. You only hoped he felt the same, but you weren’t about to push him either.
After putting the store bags away you took out a big blue pot and filled it with water. Letting it fill less than halfway, you hobbled to the stove and set it to a high temperature. Filling the rest of the pot with some store bought chicken broth.
“Shadow, can you get the scissors for me please?”
In about three seconds he had the tool in his hand. You thanked him and went for the rice bag, cutting open the plastic and shaking about half of the rice into the pot. You threw in some salt and left it to boil, then dug through your cabinets for a cutting board. You managed to find one and grabbed the pepper, dicing it into little bits. Repeating the action with a large white onion.
“[Y/N]?” You jolted a bit at Shadow’s voice, not fully used to hearing him.
“Yea bud? What is it?”
His eyebrows furrowed, as if unsure of what he wanted to say. He glanced around and grabbed a celery stalk from the pile of groceries.
“Can I help?” He asked, “I want to make dinner.”
If you weren’t cooking, you would’ve jumped up and hugged him right then and there. He was just too sweet!
“Yes of course you can! Here, gimme one second.” You quickly scraped your vegetables into the pot and brought Shadow over to the counter.
“Okay, do you wanna cut some veggies?”
He nodded.
“Okay, but you’re gonna have to use a kitchen knife for that. Is that alright?”
Shadow paused for a minute, then replied. “Yes. But how do I do that?”
Wait—did he know how to cut veggies? You haven’t bothered to ask, seeing as he didn’t really trust you until now. He probably didn’t know how to cook anything, since you had been making all his meals. And you didn’t know where he had been, or what he had been doing since you two met either.
“Right!” You clapped your hands together, “Shadow I’m gonna help you, but why don’t you watch me do it first. Okay? I don’t want you getting hurt.”
Shadow’s eyes softened and his serious look faltered. Letting a tiny, tender little smile shine through. He nodded again and took position beside the cutting board, watching as you sliced the celery stick in half before chopping the ends into cubes.
“Now it’s your turn,” You scooted over. “Want me to help you?”
It took some time but he muttered “Yes please.” and let you hover above his gloves. He hadn’t taken them off since you washed them, but they were somewhat of an off-white color. The shiny golden cuffs were still on his wrists though. Unlike the rest of him, they always gave off an energetic shine.
He flinched a little when you set your hands down, but showed no signs of leaving. Using your fingers to guide him, Shadow sliced the remaining half of the celery. Doing the same technique to the rest of them and plopped them into the pot.
“Good job! Wanna try the carrots?”
“Sure.”
You placed the carrots on the board and Shadow cut them into little circles, scraping them into the pot. You stirred the soup a few times and placed the lid back on. After some time, everything was cooked and you changed the heat to a low temperature. Jogging over to the fridge, you pulled out a nice big bread loaf from this morning’s breakfast and cut it into thick slices.
“You’re putting..bread?”
“Mmhmm! It’ll make the soup taste better, trust me.”
Shadow raised a brow, “But won’t it get, mushy?”
“Huh?” Your eyes widened a little, but realizing what he meant you couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh, no! This is like a side dish, we’re eating it with dinner. It doesn’t go in the soup.”
“Oh—”
His quills flared up a bit at the realization and he quickly turned away, crossing his arms tightly. A pose you were all too familiar with.
The dark sky rumbled behind your windows as you pulled out some small plates. You buttered the toast and set them on the countertop before rushing back to the soup. Shadow had already gotten two bowls and was attempting to fish out some rice. He managed to fill the first one and handed it to you, then served himself.
“Shadow, do you need some help carrying any of this? I know the soup is ho—” You were going to hand him his bread but turned to find Shadow missing. Another sharp sound buzzed and he was already seated at the table.
“Actually, I was thinking I’d stay with you today.” He scooted over in his chair to make room for you, taking the bread from his plate.
“Thanks, I’d love the company. But whatever makes you comfortable is fine with me.”
The corners of his mouth started to curve upward, but it slipped away quickly.
“Can, I ask you something?”
“Yea of course buddy, are you okay?”
“Yes, I just…” He paused, glancing around the table as if the right words would suddenly appear before him. After a moment, he shook his head and turned to you.
“Why are you being so nice to me?”
Okay that caught you off guard completely. Before you could even answer, Shadow spoke again.
“We don’t know each other. But this whole time, you’ve been taking care of me. I haven’t even said thank you.” He sighed, “You…You don’t seem to care though.”
You quickly wiped your mouth with your napkin before setting your hand next to his. You didn’t want to frighten him, but he looked like he needed some comfort. Slowly, you moved your hand closer. Shadow looked up for a moment but he didn’t flinch. You moved again, your fingers just barely touching his gloves. Then you gripped his hand gently, squeezing out any kind of distress.
Despite his stature his features were much bigger than yours. Yet, in a way, he felt like a small child.
“Shadow, I don’t need to know you in order to care for you. You were hurt, I wasn’t about to leave you all by yourself.”
“And, I’m being nice to you because I want to. Because we’re friends.”
His ears perked up at your last words.
“W-Well if you wanna be! We can. Totally! Y’know be friends. I mean—not that you weren’t one to me, but we can be friends if you want to.”
Oh dear God, you were fumbling. You stuttered as you tried to come up with something proper to say. After all, you couldn’t make him be your friend, but you didn’t want to hurt his feelings either. You were about to let go of him but Shadow grabbed your hand.
“I-I want to be friends [Y/N].”
Silence shook your house before you spoke.
“You do?”
Shadow nodded.
“It’s…been some time since I had a friend. But one seems like a good place to start.”
You gave a small chuckle and pulled him closer, giving him a little side hug. He really was too sweet. Thankfully, he relaxed in your arms.
“I’d love to be your friend Shadow. And I’ll take care of you as long as you need. Okay?”
He looked up and smiled. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
You gasped a little bit before stirring your soup. “We better hurry and eat though, or it’ll be time for bed before we finish.”
You took a big mouthful of rice, the spice from the broth sending some heat to your mouth. It felt so good! You ate a few more mouthfuls but then felt Shadow tug at your shirt sleeve.
“Hey [Y/N]?”
“Yea?”
“My soup is cold. Can you fix it?”
“Pfffft!—”
You stifled a laugh but it easily slipped through. You picked up his bowl and headed towards the microwave.
“Don’t worry buddy, I’ll warm this for you.”

SONIC MOVIE 3 SPOILERS AHEAD!
SCROLL NOW YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
-
-
-
Okay so we all know that Shadows survives at the end but I was thinking about if they went down the path of Shadow feeling extremely guilty for almost destroying the world and doing the opposite of what Maria wanted but I also was thinking about Shadow having strong guilt towards SONIC considering he almost made Sonic lose someone so important to him and Sonic ends up talking it out with him and helps him despite everything.
So I’m thinking about this AU where Shadow gets ambushed by GUN agents and there we see that soldier lady (who was very efficient in messing up everybody’s plans😭😭go queen, I Stan her) and he’s in a terrorgation room with no cuffs, nothing, just her and him. She approaches him saying that he wouldn’t have come willingly because he most likely would’ve thought they were ambushing him anywYs blah blah blah- we get to the point where she guilt-trips him using Maria, him almost destroying millions of innocent lives, and then she brings up Sonic and how he put aside his hatred and helped him instead and how good of person Sonic is and that Shadow didn’t deserve someone like Sonic to be good to him- that he didn’t deserve a second chance. And she does this WELL. She doesn’t yell, she’s calm and she has such a sure face that it messes with Shadow despite him trying really hard to not take everything to heart and agreeing WITH it. She says that he could EARN that second chance if he starts helping GUN because “today’s GUN isn’t the same GUN as before”. And adds,
“if not for the world, then for her.”
And THAT gets him on board, although still reluctant.
Then we can time skip into shadow having a REALLY bad time where he’s constantly switching from mission to mission to fighting in an underground illegal fighting ring because he can’t stand being at GUN’s room for him and he needs to let out his emotions. He’s in between fighting as an agent and as a bloodied fighter(he lets himself get beat bc he thinks he deserves it) and he’s seeing hallucinations of Maria but also starts to see hallucinations of Sonic and he begins to consume his mind because why??? Why help him??? Why console him? Why choose to understand him? Why did he smile at him knowing all the things he’s done? Why laugh and talk with him like they’ve known each other forever?
And he CANNOT get Sonic out of his mind. He’ll be fighting bad guys on missions and Sonic’s smile flashes or he can hear him laugh. And shadow doesn’t know how to feel about it. He barely knows the guy!!! But it doesn’t click until he gets a talk from someone in the locker room for the fighting ring where she tells him, “when someone looks at you with care even though you’ve done nothing to deserve it… it’s hard not to think about warmth after years of freezing.”
And it clicks. Sonic’s the only other warmth he’s felt besides Maria. But Sonic’s different, he isn’t someone to be like family- like Maria, it’s something else entirely and he’s so confused at the feeling. But he thinks of him anyway. And he dreams of new times with him anyway. And he’ll never plan to visit him.
Until a new foe arrives which causes the Sonic team+ Amy (so excited to see her!!)+ Shadow & GUN. Sonic and Amy are getting along fine but Sonic is just. So. Glad that Shadow is in fact alive. He introduces her, they talk about what happened but Sonic is all like “it’s all in the past, who cares??!!!!!” “Sonic, he almost killed Tom and you tried to kill him” “it’s all in the past!!!!!”
And they get to develop their relationship and Sonic’s talking about how Shadow needs to go “popular place” and needs to do “trendy cool thing” because he’s “uncultured to a horrifying degree”. They get to have teamwork, argue with each other, reconcile, laugh, bond, and it’s NOTHING like these boys have felt before. It’s so easy to share with each other but also have some sort of friendly rivalry and continue to push themselves to impress one another. It’s sportsmanship , it’s friendship, it’s romantic(tho they won’t admit it), it’s a genuine connection.
And maybe. HEAR ME OUT PLEASE. MAYBE. they have a dance scene. THIS ISNT CRAZY. THEY SHOWED SHADOW DOESNT MIND DANCING AND SONIC FUCKING LOVES IT!!!! SO!!!!!
ITS A ROMANTIC LYRICS BUT REALLY GOOD MUSIC TYPE OF SONG (think of “Ma Meilluere Ennemie” from Arcane which is SO THEM btw) BUT ANYWAYS.
I just really hope we see Shadow and Sonic become friends that everyone knows as complicated but They still Care. For one another even if they don’t want to admit it.

MOVIEVERSE SONADOW FIC IDEA: STARLIT DREAMS
The idea is loosely inspired by Tsubasa Chronicles and Your Name
There's been fics where it follows what happened in the games that Shadow would lose his memory after surviving the Eclipse Cannon so I'm taking some bit of that for this idea
Mostly because I was inspired by what Maria said to Shadow in the movie; that he can do or be anything he wants, not because of his powers, but because of who he is
And then this idea started to take shape, centering around 'Who is Shadow?'
Who is he without Maria, without a purpose, without revenge? Who is he as a clean slate, free and lost and finally given a chance to discover himself without outside influences?
I wanna explore that by connecting dreams between Shadow and Sonic which is an after effect when they shared the Chaos Emeralds. They dream of each other every night, a glass wall between them
Their forms are blurry and surreal, able to talk and laugh and get to know each other. To love but never touch. Each time they wake up, the dreams remain but they can never remember each other's faces and voices, always wondering who they're dreaming of
Who is it that they're slowly falling in love with each dream?
When awake, Shadow would take on a journey to understand himself. To live and to learn. As months passed, he'd slowly regain his memories each day and his dreams get a little clearer. Shadow would then slowly make his way back Japan, to Shibuya Crossing
To where it all began
And there in the rain, he'd find Sonic standing across from him, bright eyed and relieved. When the lights changed, they'd meet in the middle
Free to hug, to kiss, to laugh, to smile through their tears as their names are the first words that fall from their lips because its no longer a dream
The glass is gone, and two stars collide
