Instead of good at numbers autism, I got the Maddie Nolan autism…

Maddie Nolan is my biggest special interest, happened unintentionally! Due to the extreme hate she gets, I took the time to really deep dive into her character for reals… Which ended up in me being very autistic about her lmao😋

I have written an entire Maddie analogy/defense which is currently at 2063 words, I have multiple albums of Maddie content on Pinterest, Insta, TikTok, my camera roll AND YouTube. Multiple drawings and doodles on all paper I get my hands on, I have a Maddie-vibe song playlist, pins I have made- and so on.

The topic of Maddie alone eats away at my brain every day, never have been so passionate about a character like this before- I stand by my cancelled wife🫡 I love love Maddie, I’m so gay for her🤭💗💗✨

Of all the current Devil’s Minion writers your playlist is the one I want to see. Do you have one? If not, are there particular songs you’ve been listening into to while you write? The vibe of your prose with them is hypnotizing like the short story about them in the books, it’s impressive, and does your music also inform this choice if at all?

Intense question, anon. Fourteen-year-old me fucking hyperventilated after reading the DM chapter in Queen of the Damned (me, on the floor of my bedroom at 3am because I don’t want to get caught reading this book, staring dazed at the ceiling; me, now, three weeks ago, sitting shellshocked on the sofa after watching S1 and S2 over two days as a binge; me, over two of those weeks following the binge, rereading the first half of the Chronicles and starting to see double, tilt the prism, see what happens when the narratives are overlaid and blurred), and it still feels like that. Likely my prose turning out the way it is in these stories is about 90% my giddy teenage self having access to my adult self’s writing experience to finally write this beloved pairing without fear of litigious letters (IYKYK, my fellow elder Millennials in the fandom). I don’t often love film and TV adaptations of my favorite books, but I adore this show. It’s flawlessly transformative; its improvements only make the resonances and overlaps that much more meaningful. No notes.

However, I have been listening to the same small handful of songs on repeat for 6 days as I write these pieces. I imagine they are affecting my sense of scansion at points; my writing life didn’t begin with fiction, it began with years of poetry before I ever tried prose. These tracks are as meaningful to me as poems as they are songs. It’s as good a starting point for a playlist as any; I’ll keep adding and put it together on Spotify at some point.

This song was my entire first 72 hours of writing. I’m that Autistic weirdo who will listen to a single song on repeat for a month and think nothing of it. Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii being the nexus point of their love story from beginning to end in QotD, this is everything to me; I was never going to be able to write about the show incarnation of them without integrating this location and this imagery in the most reverent love letter I know how. This is why my series title for these stories is Caldera. Volcanic crater blowout if ever I saw one; I ran with it.

2. I Forget Where We Were - Ben Howard

Hello love, my invincible friend; hello, love, the thistle and the burr. For you, I have so many words—and I, I forget where we were. I haven’t known this song for all that long in the grand scheme, but it found me via Spotify shuffle in 2022 right after something awful happened. The longing in this song hinges on one of the lovers in it waking up to something they’ve forgotten about their relationship, something precious, and I’m thrilled to finally have a fandom application for it.

No excuse for this one; it does a great job of speaking for itself. Front-man Colin Meloy is one of my all-time favorite songwriters, and his work is frequently dark, creepy, and/or gothic enough in flavor that I could find a few more.

This cover of Tim Buckley’s folk masterpiece completely transforms the vibe of the song, and in the kind of way you need for this pairing. This one is at responsible for the events and imagery in my “Still Life with Sunken Treasure.”

I've made an observation over my years in fandom and so:

how correlated are neurodivergence and fandom?

this is under any kind of neurodivergence (any long term neurological difference from the societal "norm", and generally regarded as mental/neurological illness/disability)

(taking "engaging with fandom" as anything from/between creating gifs, edits, media-related videos (like amvs, compilations or video essays), parody songs, fanfiction, fanart, essays/theories about the media, and consuming a large amount/variety of fanworks (being any of the above), and there's probably more that I can't currently recall. it can be as simple as going out of your way to looking for fanmedia after consuming media)

(NOTE: this is not and should not be used as diagnostic criteria. this is me looking for a larger range of people to test a theory)

Now for some additional information about this blog and my goals with it.

Yes this is a Sleep Token themed blog, but I listen to a very wide range of music, like almost all genres. The only songs I don’t like are ones that are objectively bad.

I am currently working on my debut novel, and I just started my very first fanfiction, In The Low Light. I like space and science, spirituality and history of different religions, as well as history in general, and psychology. Just a general rule of thumb, I’m a fucking nerd. There’s a lot going on up here in this brain mush of mine.

As for stuff about Sleep Token, their identities will not be discussed here. If you send me anything with their information, I will delete it and block you. I do know their information, unfortunately, because I was jump scared in the comments of a TikTok and now it’s burned into my brain. I will not post about it. Ever.

I found Sleep Token through The Summoning in January 2023 when it went viral. Almost instantly, they became my favourite band of all time.

As for my plans for this page, I will continue to complete the mask portraits for Sleep Token, in the order shown below. Other than that, my goal is to keep this page as free from political subject matter as possible. I want this page to be an escape for everyone, myself included. I will try my best to keep it light hearted and fun.

Each painting will include their mask in the centre, surrounded by flowers/plants that I have selected based on their symbology. With each painting, I will be counting the total number of hours spent on each one and will go in instalments until each is completed.

I may in the future do portraits of other artists, though at the moment the only ones I have solid plans for are Sleep Token. There are other art ideas that are related to ST, but are essentially (free) commissions for friends. If there is enough demand/interest, I may in the future sell digital prints of my art, however this is dependent on your interest levels.

I do not consent to the sharing, reposting or plagiarism of any of my original works on any outside platforms or social media. If you see my works tell me so I can look into it.

All in all, I am excited to be working on this project and to make friends with all of you lovely people.

hello! hope you are having a good 2025 so far :) i have a couple of questions:

would you say espilver is currently the most "canon" ship for either of these characters? the idw staff seems to back the ship and they now have an increasing presence in the writing for sonic game canon (flynn and stanley being involved in frontiers, for example). ian flynn did have a whole 20-30 minute bumblekast episode on just espilver. i don't particularly care for idw either but the thought of idw's influence potentially giving us more espilver in canon is funny to me

do you have any mental/physical health condition hcs for espilver? i see silver in particular hced as autistic and asthmatic a lot on tumblr

Hello ^-^ I am, yes! Am gonna teach myself how to play piano again, so I can play Sonic songs :> As for your questions:

No, I wouldn't say so. I think SoJ teases Silvaze most of all: Silver's had far more appearances with her than with Espio, both big and small, and their Sonic Channel art has mirrored each other before. I've also seen a post before on Tumblr about how Silver and Blaze seem to have something to do with Tanabata, a Japanese festival. Wikipedia describes the story behind it as two lovers who were separated by the Milky Way, but who could meet "once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar." Tanabata is specifically celebrated by writing wishes on pieces of paper and hanging them on a bamboo tree, which is shown in a Sonic Channel drawing with Silver. Meanwhile, there's also a drawing of Blaze in a similar pose as him, making a flame the shape of Silver's quills with her pyrokinesis.

I believe that Tumblr post described that Silver and Blaze, who lost each other at the end of '06, are meant to be represented by Tanabata, but it's been years since I've seen it. Regardless though, to the best of my knowledge SoJ has not acknowledged the friendship between Silver and Espio from Rivals 2 a single time in comparison; they only talked once more in Forces and are otherwise not paired up or linked in the slightest (wah :(). SoJ has the final say about these matters, and to my knowledge, all ships between game characters are forbidden to make official (which probably is a good thing, haha). As for Ian, I believe he did an Espilver Bumblekast episode because somebody paid him to do that, but I could be wrong in that regard. And IDW has also had an extensive Silvaze ship tease in iirc issue 64 and afaik Silver and Blaze have been hanging out together ever since, so I wouldn't say the comic writers are really going one way or the other with what ship they like best🍀

And secondly, I can't say I have very explicit ones, I'm afraid. Unless you count the fact that I headcanon that Silver never really paid attention to how much he's eating and that's why he was a skinny li'l twig guy when coming to the past the first time, who became a bit more chonky and floofy due to encouragement to eat better from his friends. But in the Rivals games his model's torso is noticeably skinnier compared to the other hedgehogs to me; I just spun a little story around it, haha. Other than that, I myself don't think Silver is asthmatic, though: in '06 and the Rivals games both he can run around endlessly without tiring, also in flame-filled environments (plus, the only times I can remember him being out of breath was in '06 when fighting Shadow, who was too, and in Rivals 2 when his powers were depleted entirely. Other than that no instances come to my mind so quickly, though I could have forgotten one). I think now that he's got good friends in the past and seems to pop in every once in a while just to have fun with them (e.g. TSR, the Riders games), he's doing okay❤️ And as for Espio... physically I think he's just a healthy boi, haha! But both he and Silver mentally seem to have a tendency to put a lot of pressure on themselves; Espio to be a good ninja (e.g. seen in how he reacts when you get a low score in Heroes or him chastising himself for needing to train more when losing at something), and Silver to protect the world (as described in a Sonic Channel story iirc). But they can support each other there, and give the other encouragement and affection so they feel better about themselves <3 Those are what come to my mind first, at least!

My other interests include lots of music artists my fav is obviously Mother Mother if you couldn't tell from the Eureka album references in literally everything about lol. I love lots of other music artists, but my favorite type of music is punk/indie rock and grrl riot I ADORE grrl riot bands so freaking much! Never has quite gotten used to using the fire pole

Enjoys brushing his girlfriend's hair.

The first time he brings his girlfriend to his apartment he probably spends like two-three hours showing her and explaining his collection of mold, spores and fungus.

Kind of obvious but museum dates are an absolute must with him.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your plushy. I totally understand as I'm nineteen, almost twenty, and have my own comfort plush. I know I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to her (Her name is Princess and she's a pink poodle :)). I can't imagine what it would be like for someone with Autism. I'm not nearly as educated on the spectrum or what it entails, but I know a disturbance like that can be especially hard. (Please take no offence to what I'm saying, I'm trying not to make this sound as bad as its coming out.)

Now, Time, contrary to how he looks, does know how to sew. He's not exceptional at it, but it's certainly passible. Sure, it's a little wonky, maybe crooked, but it's evident that he put a lot of effort into it. While it's a work in progress however, or after the initial incident, he remains a steady rock for you! If your okay with physical touch during this time, he's holding you to his chest and humming a soft tune under his breath while gently rocking back and forth. If not, he's counting breaths in front of you, tapping off his fingers to help you regulate.

Twilight cannot sew. Point, blank, period. His hands are too clumsy and his movements too rough for the thin, fragile string. However, he knows people who can. If your near Ordon, he's asking Ilia or Uli. If not, he'll take it to a tailor in the nearby village. If your not near a village, he's sucking up his ego and asking Legend. His pelt is always available if you need it, but so are his arms. Lemme tell you, he gives the best hugs. If you don't wanna hug him, that's fine, maybe Wolfie will make you feel better? If you don't want any contact, that's just as okay! Wolfie with sit with you until you feel better!

Sky is tricky because while he can play the harp/lyra/whatever that thing is, I can't say I see him being able to sew. His hands are too used to the thick sturdiness of wood or the gentle plucking of the strings. The repetitive motions confuse him and he just knots the string over and over again. He doesn't wait to ask Legend or Time however, and he'll even use tears to get what he wants. Like Twilight, his sail cloth is always available to you, and he also gives pretty good hugs. If you want your space, he's pulling out his latest project and working on it beside you, hoping the repetitive noises and motions help you ground yourself.

Now, Wars can't sew well either. But he can. He's not going to put your biggest comfort item at risk for that. He's not sucking up to Legend however. No, he'll instead hand over the needed dough to the nearest Tailor or, hell, even Time to get it done as quickly as possible. His scarf is also always available. It's a good way to ground yourself as he'll sit with one end, wrapping and intertwining it around his fingers and urging you to follow.

Legend, my lovely little rat, is the best at sewing hands down. He'll remain by your side, letting you take whatever comfort needed (Physical or otherwise), while he sews your comfort item back to its rightful state. He won't shoot any quips, nor even have a harsh tone with you and anyone who dares to even try and tease you are gifted with a dirty glare.

Wild cannot sew. Period. He'll also bribe Legend with food of some sort or some ancient tech to do it for him while keeping you distracted with food prep. You don't even have to do anything, but sit there and look pretty. If you want physical comfort, sucks for the rest of the chain because they are now on their own for dinner as you become priority number one.

Hyrule can sew! With resources as scarce as they are in his world, he had to learn to preserve what he had. Which included repairing his tunics, pants, boots, etc., etc.. So, he jumps at the opportunity to fix your comfort item. It's done pretty well too! Now, Hyrule probably uses some sort of Fairy magic to calm you, through touch or otherwise, and also hums to keep you grounded.

Four can also sew! He'd fix it up right away! In fact, he'd probably split to speed up the process. One of the colors, probably Vio, would sew the item easily and quickly while the others worked on comforting you. Cuddles? Done. You wanna hear them sing? Give them a song, darling. You just want your space to process your emotions? They're steering the others away. And then, when they combine to give you back the object, Four doesn't leave until he's certain your doing okay again. :)

Wind (This is entirely platonic) cannot sew. But, he's the youngest, so he can use puppy dog eyes and get Legend or Hyrule or Time to bend to his will and do it for him. He is then either distracting you with a game or adventure or small hike, or sitting with you and telling you all sorts of stories about his journey as a pirate.

Sage can sew! He learned after his original Champion's tunic had taken one too many hits and he refused to ask Natura (His Zelda) to fix it, or use the one she was dead set on him using. Of course, he could also use his hand to help, using Recall if the incident is recent enough. If it's not, he's more than happy to fix it himself. He's offering you his hand to take should you want it, using it to pull you into his lap if that's acceptable in the situation. If not, he's sitting with you. He's all too aware of what's it's like to be so...overstimulated, so he's not asking anything. Not humming or singing. Just sitting and acting like an anchor for you.

Fierce Deity can't sew. He can use powers to an extent, but he mostly has to use his scary dog privileges to get a tailor to fix it. He's built like a tank and has a core like a furnace though, so he's perfect for cuddles. If you wanna sob into his chest, he won't do anything but shield you from the view of others. He's another one to offer silent comfort rather than any form of conversation.

Bonus! First can sew! Not badly, nor too well, but it's average. He's humming lowly while fixing the object before giving it to you. He's brushing your knuckles before pressing a kiss to them, tapping your breaths along each bump when he pulls away. His scarf is also available to you. Whatever you need, darling.

At Least It Happens Only Once in Your Life.

I’m turning 30 in a couple of weeks and all I can think of is Jonathan Larson’s song 30/90 (“Why can’t you stay 29? Hell, you still feel like you’re 22”) and also of the start of Shaina Taub’s song Time With You that says “I never agreed to getting older, but somehow, here we are”. 

Somehow, here we are. Where did the time go? Time, time, time. It keeps moving and moving us with it, even when we want to stay still for a little longer, to enjoy the page before turning it. It’s so weird how things work. How the world decides to rotate and orbit and take us with it. We’re literally stuck to it and cannot change that. We will have days and nights and years and time will pass and we can’t do anything about it. Except hoping for the best and expecting our minds will adjust to the situation. But my mind doesn’t seem to adjust to anything. 

I’m against growing up, and by that I don’t mean “I want to be a baby forever and not do anything for myself”. No, I’m against the idea of growing up that entails leaving who you are behind to fill people’s expectations of how you’re supposed to be and behave. Why am I supposed to stop blowing bubbles and wearing my hair in braids just because the world decided to turn around the sun again? Why am I supposed to start eating fancy food instead of nuggets when I like the kid’s menu better? Why am I supposed to “act my age” and take part in boring adult conversations when playing with my nephew and his legos is more fun?

If growing up means that I have to stop being myself, then I don’t want to do it. I refuse to do it. I will ignore the number that results from the subtraction between the current year and the year I was born, I don’t care, I won’t let it define me. 

Maybe it comes with being autistic, but I never felt as old as people my age. When girls wanted to party and wear make up, I just wanted to wear my pajamas and stay in bed. When everyone was starting their careers after college, I went to spend two and a half years playing with a baby. When everyone seems to be getting married and having kids, I’m not even thinking of following their path.

Am I immature? Is this how everyone feels at 30? Thirty feels like such a big number. There’s a reason why it was the age chosen by Jenna in 13 Going on 30 after all. Am I scared of being thirty? Should I be? What will my life look like in the years to come? Do I want to know? Will I be happy to live this new decade? 

To be honest, my twenties weren’t bad. They were kind of amazing in some ways and they were kind of shitty in some other ways. Will my thirties be better? Will they be worse? I guess I don’t have much option but to keep moving and see what comes next. Let’s hope for the best.
