'mob' is also a crowd, usually a restless or angry one.

'mob psycho 100' could totally be a playful academic nickname for an intro crowd psychology course. and this series has so much to say about groupthink: the cult leader provoking hundreds of people to torture a single teenage boy. the speed at which an entire city falls under the spell of another cult. the easy susceptibility of otherwise 'rational' people. a phony psychic assuming that the entire watching public is in on the 'joke' with the purportedly possessed boy. his playing to that crowd instead of being honest, and the speed at which public opinion rips him apart. our protagonist is mostly immune to all this because he's just wired differently; it's presented as one of his strengths.

'psycho' is a derogatory word for someone who 'snaps' and causes inconvenience or actual harm. the protagonist sees himself this way and his growth involves learning to fear/hate himself less.

the '100' also refers to that on-screen emotional hit counter, or catastrophic countdown, or whatever you want to call it, that alerts viewers to the protagonist's mental state... since he himself is unaware of its intensity until he explodes.

and lastly, '100' can invoke '0 to 100', for describing a person or situation that escalates quickly.

Kind of hilarious to me how poorly the title "Mob Psycho 100" localized to English-speaking areas. To someone whose first language is English, it scans as:

Mob (Yakuza, Mafia)

Psycho (violent person with "crazy" behaviors)

Thus: a particularly violent member of organized crime.

But in Japanese it scans as:

Mob (background characters in crowd scenes in manga or anime)

Psycho (short for psychic)

Thus: a psychic who looks/acts like someone you'd never pick out of a crowd scene in a comic.

I love all of the Primarch children content people make, especially the discussions about how potentially horrific the pregnancy would be for the baseline mother, and I wanted add my own little spin on it. So here's the pitch:

What if they weren't perfect? What if, instead of superhuman demigods like their father - or even a normal, healthy baseline like their mother - the Primarch’s child is a weak and sickly little thing; the natural gestation process having been unable to properly compensate for the extraordinary weirdness that is Primarch genes?

'Cause, they were made in a lab, right? With each gene painstakingly implemented and worked to compensate for oneanother in order to create a viable being. So, what if without outside intervention their genes just can't healthily gel with a baseline's?

So, what the couple had thought was the baby sapping their mother of her vital nutrients to fuel a Primarch's level of growth and strength was actually their baby fighting tooth and nail to develope at all. And even after having taken such a steep toll on their mother's health, the child still comes out small and underdeveloped, barely clinging to life.

That's it, that's the idea. Primarchs with chronically ill and disabled children because of their fucked up genes. Send tweet.

A crisis translator specializing in Afghan languages, Mirkhail was working with a Pashto-speaking refugee who had fled Afghanistan. A U.S. court had denied the refugee’s asylum bid because her written application didn’t match the story told in the initial interviews. In the interviews, the refugee had first maintained that she’d made it through one particular event alone, but the written statement seemed to reference other people with her at the time — a discrepancy large enough for a judge to reject her asylum claim. ugh i could absolutely write essays about the fact that tim drake is probably the most depressing out of all the batkids. His birth parents hardly cared about him (he is book definition of neglected) and we see that he didn't have that many friends in school. And then he was pressured into becoming Robin and suddenly that's where he felt needed. While reading all the comics i really noticed how Tim is ignored by Bruce unless he is Robin. The only times we really see Bruce care about Tim is when he's injured. Hence, neglected.

Of course Tim isn't going to point this out because this is how he was treated his whole life. But he subconsciously knows that he is only needed while wearing the Robin suit so that's what he relies on. That's why I think he reacted so negatively to Dick replacing him with Damian as Robin. That's why I think he never switched to wearing the bat like everyone else did and instead changed to "Red Robin."

Tim Drake isn't his own person outside of being Robin, and nobody in the series is helping him change that.

Okay I gotta say your art + story have gotten my fanfic engines a churning and now I'm picturing AU with the bros starting out in the wildlife game but with Martin as an 18-19 year old and Chris as this 14 year old and it's more "panicked older brother trying to keep his baby bro safe" while they encounter poachers/dangers.

Martin has legal guardianship over Chris (uhh parents gotta die for this i am so sorry mom and dad kratt but it's for the fanfiction so please forgive me) Which is why a 14 year old is able to join their research team. Martin is technically "homeschooling" him, (i mean technically he's learning on creature adventures so...)

Martin was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the Tortuga research program and Chris didn't want to be the reason that Martin held back on his dreams. So, Chris was basically like take me with you, I'll be good and stay out of trouble I promise. So basically Martin is trying to do his job while simultaneously juggling the responsibility of raising Chris. And the rest of the team helps out as well so they all become a little family and go on these adventures.

The rest of the team would step into older sibling roles as well: Aviva would teach Chris about programming and engineering, Koki would show him how the Tortuga runs and how to make small tune-ups, and Jimmy would teach him how to bake and play video games with him. JUST IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES

I don't think Aviva would make a CPS for him, Martin would lose his mind if she did. Chris was already a handful, he does NOT need to be running around as a gecko. Maybe she could make a less extreme version of the suit for him? Like a partial creature power suit, where it can give him traits of animals. Instead of turning into the whole leopard, it just gives him leopard claw gloves and a tail for balance. So a little kiddy version of the CPS. IDk it's just an idea.

Yes, this is a transparent and blatant attempt to pspspsps my fellow fans of Critical Role into watching this series. The first season is airing now on Netflix as of May 31st. They picked it up after Max did not renew it for a second season, and will decide based on the reception now whether to continue - so I am hoping that lots of people discover the show and love it! The animation studio is Titmouse, who also produces The Legend of Vox Machina.

It's like a Miyazaki-esque Annihilation. Cosmic horror and cosmic wonder in equal and necessary parts. If you like the funky biology parts of Candela Obscura, give this a shot. There is horror. There is humanity. There is hope and connection. There are creatures of all shapes and sizes, including a wonderful amount of tiny idiots, which I have made many compilation posts about. It's a setting where you can envision David Attenborough peacefully narrating a nature documentary about it, but be horrified the same time. Just an absolutely incredible show.
