-i’ll be honest i dont remember a lot from this but i do remember that like 3 of the teams used the same music

-i could tell who shimada koshiro was because he’s wearing a costume that screams “male japanese figure skater”

-camden did so well but the old dude beside me was like “i don’t understand” after they read his score because of his ftdwn and all i could think was “you don’t know as much about figure skating as you think you know”

-i felt bad for adam siao him fa it seems like maybe nerves got to him

-same goes for tomoki hiwatashi

-im excited to see some quads! (spoiler alert: there were no quads)

-Yelim Kim is a gorgeous skater and i can’t wait to see more from her

-as soon as trusova got 74 i thought “that’s going to be higher than some of the seniors” (spoiler alert: it was)

-i was blown away by Kostornaia, like she has amazing musicality for how young she is, she defnitely deserved that 76

Opening Ceremony

-did i need to hear several long speeches about how great this weekend is going to be? no. did i want to hear several long speeches about how great this weekedn is going to be? also no.

-the local skaters they had were super cute

-i was really thrown off when they said “all rise of the national anthem” and the canadian anthem started playing

-like I get i’m in canada but i’ve literally never been to an event like this in another country my brain automatically assumed it was the stars and stripes or nothing

Senior MSP

-i was kinda afraid fans wouldn’t like messing because he went instead of hanyu but then i realized he was on home (country) ice 

-i was rather surprised by messing’s score, it thought it would be 85 at least, but i guess some of his components were downgraded

-JUUUUNNNNNN!!!!!

-this was a great skate from him and i feel like he was a little underscored

-so brezina did really well, but i would like to say that i’ve seen that sp twice and literally did not remember it at all, like i’ve been thinking for the last 3 weeks how cool it would be to do a program to who wants to live forever. i thought i was having an original thought

-i also would have scored him at an 87

-them showing raf watching nathan while michal’s in the background by himself was everything

-also i kind of liked the t-shirt costume...

-i haven’t always been a big fan of nathan, i like artistry-heavy programs, but this sp might turn me into a fan. i think it really suits him and it’s definitely more artistry focused than technical

-*draco malfoy voice* colorblocked costume and a shaggy bowl haircut? must be a russian.

-unpopular opinion time (maybe popular opinion?) i’m kinda over shoma’s sp, like i don’t think it suits him all that well. also he seemed off? during the warm up so i’m glad, and surprised, he didn’t fall

Senior LSP

-i used to only follow mens but this season has quickly turned me into a ladies fan and this is such a great group

-samodurova did better than she did in skate america and it felt like she gave a better performance too

-honestly, i was really excited to see elizaveta but it was a little underwhelming. like don’t get me wrong it was still a good skate and i enjoyed it but performance-wise it didn’t live up to my expectations. 

-i loved Rika’s performance, her 3A was beautiful and i honestly kind of wanted to cry because of how good it was

-the audience could totally tell how good it was, she was the only skater today that got a stand ovation from a majority of the crowd

-RIKA KIHIRA WORLD RECORD HOLDER

-i felt bad for satoko, i sure wouldn’t want to skate after an 82

-and maybe that got to her because she was definitely better at skate america

-i was so glad kaori did well tho, her skating is so smooth and i love her costume

-i also feel like elizaveta’s 3A was the only reason she was ahead of kaori

-alina’s POTO program is another one where i’m over it because it isnt the best fit for her and it’s a weird arrangement that, in my opinion, doesn’t really work

-i super feel bad for alina, i’m not a huge fan of hers but it’s clear she’s under an insane amount of pressure and it’s sad that she has been trained to think anything that isn’t first is a bad score

-parking was a nightmare and the rink was so cold i had to wear an undershirt, a sweater, jacket and gloves and i was still freezing. i really hope they fix that tomorrow (i’m still going to bring like 7 layers though)
