Do u think Emmett likes sports? Because I get the vibe that he hates all sports except the ones he invented. LiKE the moment emmett sees a basketball rulebook he will become a serial killer
ooh GOOD question. agreed 100%; he doesn't like traditional sports. Emmett DOES enjoy competition, feats of strength, contact sports like wrestling, etc. so there's good reason to believe he enjoys games
if he DID play traditional spots, they would all have ~vampire flavor~ to make them more difficult. e.g., i could see him liking basketball if he, say, raised the basket to be above a vampire's jump vertical, redrew the court lines, made it a contact sport á la rugby, & replaced the basketball with a stone or a greased pig or whatever. for many traditional sports, i think Emmett would modify the rules until the "new" sport is vaguely reminiscent of the model
as a man with a thirst (hah!) for competition, i see Emmett making a sport out of anything. from something as simple as "race you to the ___" or "how many cougars can i bag in an hour," to something complicated with point systems & referees, Emmett channels the natural competitive drive of vampires into something healthy & fun. his games are a way to pass the time, bond with the fam, & channel any tense dynamics into a more cretive (nonviolent-ish) outlet.
while many of these games are one-offs, the Cullens likely play several original sports that they've refined over the decades. i could see them playing modified versions of wrestling, baseball, American football, capture the flag, ghost in the graveyard/kick the can, & some fucked-up complicated-ass Calvinball that always ends in fighting & the destruction of one or more load-bearing walls

yay! I drew these quite literally three years ago. dragonheart!milo and raihan! a knight on a doomed dragon hunt being lifted out of his station by a small village medicine man. together they become magic lawyers and overthrow the government
the main details in these do survive into the iterations I’ve drawn (instead of these actual designs I spent time to make el oh el): the “leaf” diamond quilt/gambeson and the plaited coattail for milo, the “atypical” weapons, long coat, and large number of scattered fake gold trims and accessories for raihan. I think I lost raihan the hat and added a cape for milo further down the line because like this their general silhouettes are too similar for my liking lol

If I’m being completely honest… and please don’t hate me for this I thought this a long time ago and I don’t know if I still do but… I stopped reading Kotlc when it became too much about angsty/sad Keefe and not enough everyone else
Edit: this is not an anti keefe post. I love keefe.

is teen titans good? i never actually watched it but ur art is tempting me to give it a try … superhero stuff is not typically in my realm of interests lol
I think it's pretty good, especially if you're interested in watching a fun show about a group of friends who fight crime together. There's lots of villain of the week, character-focused episodes with some very cool gems here and there. Also, TT doesn't require any knowledge of dc at all imo xd like, it definitely enhances the experience when you can point at a guy and go "I know him!" but it's really not needed for the plot or anything

male authors, writing m/m friendships: their bond will develop through hundreds of chapters, we will get to see each stage of their budding relationship, they'll constantly be in each other thoughts, their first instinct will always be to reach for the other, their first worry will always be the other's safety, they'll spend every minute of the day together, they'll be complete opposites and yet perfectly compliment each other, they will put everything they ever loved in risk just to keep the other safe, they will give their life without hesitation to save the other's, they will fight and argue and tease and joke around but they will always be at each other's side at the end of the day, they will plan to spend the rest of their lives together, sharing the happy moments and the hard times, the idea of being without the other being unthinkable, the thought of being always together coming naturally, as easy as breathing.
the same male authors, writing m/f romance: she'll like,, smile once at him and he'll start thinking of marrying her and having children with her idk

I’m fascinated by the previous ask’s mention of anime “or the Vulcan equivalent” since anime is literally just Japanese animation would Vulcan animation have a distinctive enough style to warrant a distinct name? What is the Vulcan cultures’ views on animation as an art form (in your opinion).
I don't know enough about animation or art as like an evolving discipline as it relates to society/culture to say much about it in an intelligent way but the newest Dungeon Meshi Extra makes me think about it in a purely 'what would be fun' way
Vulcans also have an incredibly long lifespan so it'd be funny if Vulcans were used to listening to stories that are much longer than other species. [See: Tuvok singing his children a 348 verse story as a lullaby and his children loving it]
You know those soap operas that go on for like decades? Vulcan soap operas are going on for CENTURIES.
I think a lot of the most popular stories on Vulcan center around enlightment or war. In fact I think a lot of Vulcan is probably dedicated to those topics - I headcanon that there are multiple museums and monuments about the many wars Vulcan fought with a heavy emphasis on the great toll it took on their people and how awful these actions were. They almost blew up everything with nukes! But then logic saved them...I believe this is also a common thread in stories that aren't about war - being saved by logic.
A woman almost falls for charlatan...but logic saves her. A man almost kills his brother...but logic stills his hand. Etc Etc.
A Vulcan author could probably write thousands of books in their lifetime, depending on the age they started. I think having an author with hundreds of books is fairly common and Vulcans are often a bit anxious about reading very good authors of other species...what if they die before they finish writing??
Television shows having like 40 seasons isn't that rare and I think their method of storytelling would probably have to differ from ours in order to facilitate that. That's interesting, isn't it?? I wonder about Vulcan media that isn't Surak's teachings. Like, Tuvok says he likes to read - what's he read about?
In 'Riddles' Neelix mentions a "Proto-Vulcan Drama" called 'Clash on the Fire Plains' which has 23 parts. Tuvok apparently has this in book form in his quarters but he's often reading things off his PADD which I assume are also Vulcan literature.
It seems that a lot of Vulcan stories we hear about are meant to teach some sort of lesson even if they are also entertaining.
When it comes to ongoing media (EX: Television show) I think they'd probably follow a series of arcs and situations with the same characters learning and growing. If you start watching season 82 of a Vulcan program then go back to season 7 it's like a whole new set of characters but they just changed because of their experiences. (As your Vulcan friend will rant to you). It gets a bit ridiculous but it's a bit fun too~
I headcanon that Vulcans in Starfleet will often get together to watch popular Vulcan tv shows' new episodes...alleviates some missing home. Others join in and soon we're seeing tv shows from all over the universe! Surprisingly, Vulcan and Klingon programs are fairly similar in the aspect of 'a lot of battle focused shows which teach lessons' but the exact lessons differ, of course.
Oh I bet Vulcan tv shows would also have so much intrigue and drama about clans and marriage and propriety etc which Klingons would love.
Klingon: So T'Eyanra is going off with Sarun? Even though she was made aware that Sertik is ill and might be plagued with fever?
Vulcan: Yes. And do not forget - Sarun's clan changed the water rights of her own, though she does not know this yet.
Klingon: -settling in- Sarun's clan is without honor! That knave... -gasp- and the Ektinslahrah ritual is tonight!
Vulcan: -also settling in- Indeed.
Oh god this was about anime wasn't it? Well just apply all that stuff I said to anime somehow...Vulcan anime is like one piece's length and death note's complexity but with a shocking amount of painstaking slice of life. I think animation would be taken as seriously on Vulcan as it is on Earth - I can't think of anything that'd make them take it more or less seriously?
I picture Betazoid animation would have a heavy emphasis on showing feeling though - like visibly as an ever present cloud behind the characters' heads and you have to know what all the colors mean.

✨New Vashwood fanfic incoming!✨
I just love the idea of Vash and his emotions being somewhat difficult to handle with all the bottling up he does and his plant characteristics impacting on his reactions :Dc
This fanfic has been beta read by the amazing @molten-rainbows ! (check his fanfics out too in here!)
Thank you so much for your patience and support man, without it I wouldn't have been improving so much ever since you read this and gave me advice for it <3

Thinking about how very rushed the pacing of OFMD season 2 felt, I realized that it's actually a good example of why Neil Gaiman taking a gamble and deciding to write a completely new season for Good Omens to properly link season 1 and season 3 and end it at that point was the best thing he could ever do.
OFMD felt like David Jenkins and the writing team were so scared they'd get cancelled that they crammed as much plot as they could in season 2 and tried their best to end it in a way that would work as an actual ending if they cancelled the show, but doing so they sacrificed a lot of interesting character developments and character dynamics, and (imho) wasted a fantastic villain (Ned) killing him off in one episode when he could have been a great foe for the whole season, with Ricky being set up as the main villain in season 3.
I'm not saying OFMD had to end in a cliffhanger like Good Omens did, but they could have still taken a gamble and tell the story they wanted to tell properly, and then adapt it in some other way if the show didn't get renewed, similarly to how Neil said he will write a book if they don't renew Good Omens.

im not properly following sword af bc i never finished the first season, but i DID go and listen to the bit where angela (as bug) presumably tries to go for a kiss with amanda (as delores) and. MAN. Amanda's reaction to it....... the "whoa whoa whoa" and amanda's voice getting that kind of breathless quality that it sometimes gets when shes really amused or shes laughing really hard or overwhelmed in videos.......... mannnnn. sets off my rpf brain So Bad. Not implying anything about the actual interaction as much as. Thinking about the delicious potential in the fake rpf universe..... I'm so goddamn weak for the concept of RPF Amanda who flirts incessantly and is so confident in it and loves, loves flirting with Angela specifically- in part because she never expects anything to come of it, (for better or for worse) and Angela's flustered reactions or tendency to not play into the bit make it safe in a backwards way. Amanda flirts, Angela rolls her eyes/commits a bit but always bails out safely, etc. (Amanda keeps flirting, maybe harder, maybe it gets more and more ridiculous and over the top, and maybe she should- stop. But. She can't.)
And then Angela flirts back unexpectedly or spontaneously, and its like. Implosion. Function shutdown. The absolute charismatic force of nature that is Amanda brought to a halt, because hey wait NO, that's not supposed to happen. Its such a delicious concept. rpf brain go brrrrr.
There's the angst side if it, if you want- Amanda silently convinced it wont happen or somewhat in denial about her own feelings, or doing some kind of mental gymnastics where the flirting is as close as she'll get. (Angela convinced it's not real and having mixed feelings about it as a result.)
And then they're doing something and for one reason or another Angela initiates and Amanda's brain goes WHOA WHOA WHOA- and Amanda's charisma and composure go sideways even though for anyone else she could play it off so easily. there's so much comedic potential. delicious potential. etc. 👌

No but what if next episode is all about Loki going back to write his own story, "fixing" all his interactions with Sylvie so they can be endgame?
Miss Thing parked in a Mc Donald all season as Loki builds his character, getting a final tour de force so Disney can have their heteronormative ship.
If you want a straight relationship you can have it, but at least give the girl more screen time, rather than giving it to the other male lead, allegedly the main character's bestie (hi Mobius ILY).
What then??
No, I need memes, I can't take it.
More Loki memes.

Ive seenyou mention wuxia a few times now and i wonder what that is. Would you mind explaining it to me?
not the most qualified person to explain this as i'm not, in fact, from china; but i've read a couple of wuxia so here goes:
wuxia is a genre of fiction from china specifically, about martial artists in ancient china. i don't think a specific time period is like required? obviously some dynasties are more popular but idk how it goes in that front. it just has to be Not Today and probably Too Long Ago. like pre industral revolution i think. again idk if that's a requirement, but most i've seen are from around the same relative murky pre-electricity era.
xianxia is a subgenre of wuxia that's specifically more fantasy-like, and it's not just martial arts, but also spiritual powers and cultivation (which i have no fucking clue how to explain without two hours and three tangents other than chinese magic system. if you've ever heard of chi/qi as an energy, it appears there). so like- genshin is by all accounts a xianxia, it just doesn't use the more common specific xianxia terms like cultivation. some of those are very weird to translate and probably not common for the average non-wuxia reader, so it makes sense why they're going for alternatives.
chongyun and xingqiu and xianyun are very much straight out of a xianxia. xianyun's entire story quest was the closest genshin has gotten to a straight xianxia plot so far. i highly reccomend ashikai's video on unnecessary visions if you want more info on why genshin is a xianxia hahah
cyanide narwhal has some talk of some stuff from xianxia, but that's mostly because well- fucking liyue, that's how it works there. the whole light energy striking down someone who's getting powerful and giving them godhood if they survive the strike is, while not exactly like that, something that happens in some xianxia as well.
like the way adepti work in general is just very xianxia. ashikai does a much better job explaining it than i do tbh but yeah
TL;DR: wuxia is chinese martial arts fiction in ancient china, and xianxia is a wuxia subgenre with more magic elements. also genshin is a xianxia
