does anyone else do the avpd thing where the more you like or care about someone, the more you subconsciously avoid them way more than you avoid other people (to the point of not even looking at them)?

because i do and i’m constantly terrified that the people i like and care about the most are going to think i hate them because my brain won’t let me act like i like them or engage with them at all. and it kills me that it’s not even a stretch for them to think i hate them because yeah, if i’m smiling at and even having little chats with other people but i can’t even look at them, it sure does look like i hate them, doesn’t it?

but it’s not like i’m making a conscious choice to avoid them or act cold toward them, it’s just an instinct that i don’t really even notice i’m slipping into again until it’s too late. in the moment, it feels just like my usual avoidance and it’s only once i’m with other people again that i realize how much of an asshole i was.

wait this is so funny there’s a moment he pauses when he takes in what you’re saying but then you’re off with one last peck to presumably do your laundry but he grabs you before you can get up and he’s got that confused/offended/bothered look on his face like when nobara told him to show up to the diner to meet yuki, and he’s like “what’s this all about—what’s going on,” and he’s dead serious but you’re not which only adds to him being annoyed. he was having a good time making out and now you’re giggling at him and bringing up laundry, he’s about to have the fit of all time

also for the record you can annoy megumi with anything. he is a boy who is so Botherable i haven’t ever seen a man lose the idgaf wars as badly as him. all of the jjk boys are losers of these wars but megumi is the biggest loser boy who wants to be nonchalant so bad he ends up caring about everything all the time always

yet, as much as i longed for home, i was determined to learn in this new life. sumeru became my sanctuary and the akademiya, my solace. i learned their languages, customs, and secrets while sharing stories of the stars, landmarks, and beauty of my own world. the scholars listened, fascinated by the similarities and differences, but none more than al-haitham—a student assigned to guide me through this foreign land. he was a quiet presence. thoughtful and curious. he did not pity me.

and over time, he went from guide to peer to something more. over time, i wasn’t just seeking knowledge but also him. but what was the point? what was the point of falling for him if one day, i could just disappear—vanish back to my world, leaving him and teyvat behind? this could slip away at any moment. this might be as fleeting as a dream.

despite all reason, i still found myself loving him deeply. in a world that wasn’t my own, he had become my home.
