“this ship is not canon” babe, they’re fictional characters. they’re not real. they’re literally dolls we play with. we don’t care about whether or not these fictional characters’ love story is canon in this piece of media that is also entirely based on fiction. I mean, sure, canon would be lovely, but it’s a bonus. it’s not necessary. what we care about is the fun of talking about these 2 idiots being in love.

we don’t give a fuck if they didn’t kiss in “canon”. they had raw sex in thousands of fics about them though. and I’d say that’s more than enough to make people who ship them happily ship them even harder. happy shipping!

My favorite relationship dynamic in fiction is a worshipper and their God. Not a literal God, but their God. The only thing in the whole world that matters to them. I only just finished Hannibal and I already have a deep affection for the team behind this show. They didn’t call their audience crazy for Hannigram ships and they didn’t deny the obvious on screen tension/chemistry between the two male leads. They agreed with it.

Bryan Fuller said he didn’t intend them to be romantic but it naturally evolved that way and to not address it would be inauthentic. Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy pitched the idea of a kiss. Don Mancini was always about having more “homosexual text”.

And this is what artists do. They don’t give a shit if it’s gay or straight, they care that it’s authentic.

It’s just such a breath of fresh air to watch a show with an mlm ship that didn’t originally intend any romance and then not be homophobic or defensive about it. Even though, realistically, that should be the bare minimum.
