tbh I find Caitlyn's use of the Gray really interesting not only as a form of chemical warfare, but of psychological warfare too. The way she deliberately designed the strike force uniforms to work in tandem with the Gray in order to mimic the appearance of a monster from Zaunite stories with very recent presence in Zaun's recent memory (it was only during Cassandra's lifetime that the Gray was "locked away") to evoke fear in ordinary Zaunites is so so crazy to me.

And Jinx REALIZED that!! that's (maybe.) WHY that showdown took place in front of a carving of Janna– she's using those stories (which likely evolved alongside one another) to frame her reaction to Caitlyn's crimes as a sort of divine retribution!

Caitlyn thinks Jinx is this terrifying monster of a girl, and while it's true Jinx has done some awful things, ever since the beginning of this season (arguably since after the timeskip, even) Jinx has been working in direct response to Caitlyn and Caitlyn's actions, whether or not either of them are truly aware of it.

#arcane spoilers #the cool thing about this series is that you can pull any two characters and draw significant parallels in a lot of places #but Jinx and Caitlyn especially have been mirroring each other since the beginning.#especially now that both are being propped up as unwilling/unaware symbols of Zaun and Piltover #(idk anything about LoL so i'm not sure how these ramblings hold up with that lore in mind lmao)#anyways.#this is half me stating the obvious and half me making stuff up. fuck it we ball #also Caitlyn. girly. the problem isn't that u aren't taking the shot. it's that u keep pointing ur gun at people #i also don't think enough ppl are talking about Jinx's very real suicidal ideation like that girl wants to DIE #she went into that fight with two goals: releasing the Gray into piltover and being killed by Vi

#a tempest of tea #aroaessidhe 2024 reads #This has a really cool concept and worldbuilding and some fantastic characters!#I like the discussion of immigration and colonialism (I appreciate a story in this niche that’s not so white)#I like arthie and jin’s relationship and Arthie is a great character.#It definitely feels like the first half of a story - like is the arthurian stuff gonna come up more or is it just...#the mc is called arthie and has a gun she pulled out of a stone. Is there more to that lmao. it does end on a cliffhanger too.#The main thing I *didn't* like is that the middle kinda turns into…miscellaneous events purely to facilitate the characters being attracted #to each other. good for them I guess but i don’t care.#(I probably should have expected that based on the author’s other duology so that's on me I guess)#(the romances also feel on the older side of YA)#I also found that the audioboook narrator paused slightly too long between sentences.#I love having author interviews at the end of audiobooks!#which also directly called me out for guessing the obvious twist but not the multiple others directly after #(granted the obvious one I was like... genuinely confused whether it was supposed to be a twist bc I thought we already knew that)#also what's up with the coconut. lol. why that specifically

Seriously, pacifist characters only have two plot lines: “gets murdered because pacifism means being stupid” and “learns that violence is okay sometimes and this is somehow a grand moral stance and not the default state of humanity”. It’s watching a character either reduced to a flat stereotype or lose the thing that makes them interesting and it is so boring.

1. Season One, Episode Eight: Ice. — Scully pulled a gun on Mulder for the first time, as she was worried he was infected with the fucked up killer worm. He was not infected and was just annoyed that Scully pulled the gun on him in front of others. Rating: 8/10. Scully gets points for it being the first time but I agree with Mulder that she shouldn’t have done it in front of others.

The thing about better call Saul is I’m now confused as to why Mike worked with Gus, like in breaking bad Gus is different from the rest of the cartel, but in better call Saul we see that he’s more like them than he would like to believe, and I feel like Mike should see that. He might be a little scared of Gus, but Mike is someone Gus would let go, and Mike knows that, so why did he keep working for him? What is so different about him? ive mentioned this before but i really do love my key rat so much. i need to try to reverse engineer how this thing was constructed. i need to know how he was created

#i dont use him for keys. i use a spy family themed keycase LOL it has like. a print of a normal ass gun on it which is wild #but my key rat..... my oma gave him to me as a toy when i was a young kid and i used him as like #sometimes a villain who eats people. wraps his circle tongue and eats them to death #sometimes i used him as a nice guy whos weird but helps the main character toys #since ive had it forever hes at least 20 years old. i dont know where he came from. i think it mightve been homemade?#it doesnt have a tag. i dont think it was made by my oma tho. or maybe it was? she knows how to sew but she always preferred #puzzles and embroidery. most of the sewing i saw her do was like simple square things like a pillow case. i should ask her if she remembers #i love this thing. ive seen adjacent things to it (key holders that are a pouch you pull the keys into) and ive even seen ones shaped like #rodents but ive never seen one like this made of fabric. usually theyre leather nowadays #probably cause its more durable and easier to get a clean finish compared to like #this baglined..... situation? the seams are fully encased i dont know how they went about it #i need to learn more about sewing linings and stuff..... i need to figure out the key rat. i need to know his secrets
