OK, so I didn't know that the Russian Empire also colonised part of America and treated Native Americans very badly. Meanwhile, this painting suggests all was calm. I will be reading up on this subject over the next few days.

NB I notice in the centre of the picture a flag flying above the building and recognise it as the flag of the Russian-American Company who controlled the Russian army and navy. The Russians were there for fur, particularly that of the sea otter.

Elon Musk was forced to reveal who financed his purchase of Twitter. Amongst owners are two Russian oligarchs close to Putin and sanctioned over the Russian invasion of Ukraine: Petr Aven and Vadim Moshkovich.

Petr Aven is a Russian billionaire, founder of Alfa Group, which is one of the main wallets for Putin. Aven also attended a meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022 to mark the start of the invasion of Ukraine.

Vadim Moshkovich owns Russia's largest agricultural holding Rusagro. Naturally, he also attended the meeting with Putin on February 24, 2022 and, like Aven, did not protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The RusAme dynamic during the 19th Century, when their relationship was still more peaceful and somehow "innocent" …After years of isolation due to England's overprotection when America was a still young and naive nation, and Russia was a distant empire and Alfred had that admiration (a first crush) for Ivan…like that calm before the storm between two people who didn't know what the future would bring.

Hello my dear smalletho enjoyers. May I present you my quick references for boat boys in their double life time

I will draw more of them, since I like to expand their dinamic to all next series you know it only makes sense, considering how much they are osessed.

Anyway i think their relationship goes through all possible russian rolacoaster. They obviously start pretty low, with Etho clearly not exited to be with Joel, but red life changed many man before them and nothing could've saved them ESPECIALLY with a god demn soul bond. They fell down for eachother bad. But when it was all over, the feeling died down, or atleast that's what they would like to belive.

Here in the US, we need to:

Notes from National Geographic book 'Atlas of Indian Nations', pp. 15, 108-9:

The Russians were less concerned with gold and mining than the Spanish. They wanted furs, particularly of the sea otter.

The Russian-American Company was run by Grigory Shelekov, who began exploring and claiming land on the Alaskan coast in the 1780s. The company had an incredible amount of freedom to colonise, kill, trade and settle, operating independently as well as for the Russian Empire. It controlled the army and navy, so possessed a huge amount of power. Traded with tribal peoples, but also took their lands and conscripted labour. Hundreds of natives were killed. Many indigenous women were raped or forced to marry Russian men.

Missionaries were brought over who worked systematically to change tribal religion and language. Many indigenous peoples of Alaska today still follow the Russian Orthodox faith and carry the blood of Russian traders and company men.

Resistance was brutally supressed. All was run with ruthless efficiency and complete disregard for indigenous life, land and resources.

The fur trade declined and the Russians sold its interests to the United States in 1867 (known as 'the Alaska Purchase'), but the company remained and endured for many years.

The notes seem pretty normal to me, got one comment saying something like “op didn’t deserve the harassment” and I’m confused what they meant? There’s just some people disagreeing or correcting me on stuff

Haven’t personally seen many tankie blogs on here to feel wary like that but I am like that with YouTubers so I get it lol. I don’t think it’s romanticizing the Soviet Union to like some stuff from it. I pretty openly talk about liking Soviet cartoons, I grew up watching them and my art style is influenced by them, there’s lots of cool Soviet art in general and they made cool scientific achievements. It was a repressive authoritarian regime that committed atrocities but it’s also a place a lot of regular people lived in up until pretty recently and it’s where my entire family is from. It’s like how it’s not American exceptionalism to like southern food or jazz music
