Solaro time... Great fabric by @standeven1885 The elusive colour, which looks beige on the picture, actually shimmers with hints of green and red. The jacket could do with some alterations but I don't always bother.
The pocket pen by @hightide_japan is cute and writes very well but the downstep from the barrel is too sharp for a long writing session and the clip feels flimsy. Still a good looking and efficient writer.

How quaint have basics become in less than a generation... Fountain pens, suiting, leather shoes? They have become heirlooms from a distant past that happened only ten minutes ago. And people rant about durability while there's no guarantee the objects around us will even exist in ten years. Think of what happened to owning music or films...
The shift from familiarity to quaintness is also a shift from craftsmanship to mass production of disposable commodities.
At least wearing this cashmere #zegna jacket (formerly owned by @dirnelli) I know I can enjoy it for many years. Using the wonderful soft F nib of #falconpilot is knowing it should outlast my own life (btw, it's a very precise nib with nice flow and luscious feel in a sober yet distinctive design).
Black shoes and bespoke grey trousers? Another combination that keeps working for me.
And I'll keep using all of those tried-and-tested creations because, whatever the trends, they're never going out of style in my book...

This is a unique double-breasted wonder from 1971, my latest haul from @chez_ammar
I haven't had the heart yet to tear away the "légion d'honneur" from the lapel. This bespoke beast needs cleaning and minor alterations but the feel is incredible with very high armscyes and a heavy cloth. The shoulders, French-style buttonhole and numerous handmade details are impressive!
The massive #stdupontpen Line D seemed a decent match for such a stately jacket. The medium gold nib with smoothness and flex is a delight.

First impressions of the #gioia fountain pen are excellent: it's a girthy, substantial pen with solid presence. The line is truly fine and the flow is quite satisfying. It wrote straight out of the box. I have to use it more before I can make my mind, as it doesn't really pop for me yet. Beautiful shimmering resin!
The #dipietro suit is a pleasure to wear: soft Italian tailoring without any excess.

The wonderful eye and taste of Luigi Dalcuore live on through his creations. This bespoke double-breasted was designed by Luigi about 5 years ago and stands the test of time. A premium feel with a lot of character.
The same could be said of the N32 Montblanc dating back some 30 years ago... Wonderfully soft gold nib.

Self-tipped and many-folded silk tie with a fantastic drape. It may be slightly old-fashioned but it is in line with the green cashmere and flannel trousers...
The #aubercy oxfords are so comfortable and so stylish in burgundy leather that they've become my go-to choice.
The fountain pen is a cheap imitation of a famous brand with poor material and lousy machining... but surprisingly good writing experience and striking colours!
