Tribe Nine status update: Chapter 1 complete; Chapter 2 is NOT underway.
While the rest of the TooKyo Games/Kodaka/Post(?)-Danganronpa fandom is wrapped up in the demo and hype for The Hundred Line, I remain fixated on Tribe Nine. So this is more-or-less my follow-up to my first impressions post.
Despite its less-than-appealing roots as a mobile game with some gatcha elements, I'm still finding it to be quite good as a game in its own right. It doesn't flood you with a boring open world full of 20,000 objectives around every corner like some other gachas I've tried (Genshin Impact, Infinity Nikki), nor is it a glorified visual novel with just basic RPG combat added like other gachas I've quite enjoyed (Magia Record, Fate/Grand Order). Once you get past the tutorializing, Tribe Nine is an actual game with lots of legit gameplay exploration/combat routine—but there's still a lot of story pinning it down.
First off: The Steam version is finally playing smoothly! After a difficult process, I eventually got my Steam and IOS Tribe Nine accounts linked together. Now I can keep my progress rolling on my Steam Deck, and I MUCH prefer playing with button controls.
Perhaps most important to me is that I'm interested in the (goofily dark?/darkly goofy?) story. I've been compelled by the desire to take down the bizarre ruler of Shinagawa and its dominating ruleset—the evil "corporation" structure that lets the President and his twisted director execute whoever they want. I enjoyed driving that all the way to the climactic Danganronpa-style "baseball argument" thing.
Senju severely wrecks shop.
I'm currently NOT so compelled by the characters, honestly; they're likable enough and have great Komatsuzaki-style designs, but their characterizations are pretty damn thin so far. The ones who I'm attached to are either just excellent in a fight (Hyakuichitaro Senju), have a central personality quirk that's endearing (Tsuruko Semba), or I've gotten to know them better by having recently watching the anime (Kazuki Aoyama).
Speaking of the anime: "Q" in the game is Ojiro Otori from the show. Some might consider that to be pretty obvious, but I was a little slow to put it together, so I'm just laying it out there: Same voice actor, considers Kazuki his most important friend, supposedly "atoning for past sins," same hair and eye colors... yeah.
...did I mention that the soundtrack is excellent? Danganronpa's Masafumi Takada is in the house on this one. Very moody, cool, funky, atmospheric.
I've currently finished the story of Chapter 1/Shinagawa, and I want to move on to Chapter 2/Minato (which already has a good central hook/mystery driving me there), but I'm stuck grinding out achievements due to the arbitrary gatekeeping where you can't pass certain points without having enough "stamps" from Zero. Which fucking sucks.
For the record: Beyond the trio of characters that all players get for free (Yo Kuronaka, Tsuki Iroha, and Koishi Kohinata), I've also unlocked Roku Saigo, Yutaka Gotanda, Hyakuichitaro Senju, Santaro Mita, Minami Oi, and Tsuruko Semba.
The barrier to starting Chapter 2 has given me time to work on every single side quest in Shinagawa, at least. On that note...
Most Upsetting Side Quest: Forcing a bunch of homeless people with nowhere else to go to vacate the aquarium because some fish-obsessed idiot thinks he's going to re-open the business despite knowing jack shit. I definitely felt like the bad guy.
Why are they so intently after her???
Most "???" Side Quest: Repeatedly rescuing that one woman who keeps getting cornered and attacked by masked thugs who repeatedly assert that they don't know why ANYONE would take her side. It seems obvious that she's harboring a secret reason why she's always being harrassed, but by the current end of that quest line, it's not yet been explained. All we've done is beat up her harrassers without ever knowing why they're on her case. I assume this story thread will wind up continuing into Otami or popping up again elsewhere.
Something I want to know a lot more about is WHICH members from TooKyo Games were involved in this title. Who's writing, you know?

Japan just demolished China in this exhibition game!!!
Japan has their full roster. And China has everyone except for Li Yueru
For context, Japan was awful in the 2022 world cup after their Olympic silver Cinderella run in 2021. And Japan lost the 2023 Asia cup which is a tournament they used to dominate. China finished with silver in the 2022 world cup and gold in the 2023 Asia cup. But they got demolished by France in the OQT. And now Japan is running right through them

Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc: A Sharp Review of Murders, Madness, and Mystery
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc stands out as a compelling visual novel, blending a strong presentation with engaging storytelling. Kazutaka Kodaka’s creative direction, combined with Rui Komatsuzaki’s unique character designs and Masafumi Takada’s memorable soundtrack, elevates the experience, making it as much a feast for the eyes and ears as it is for the mind. While the pacing may feel uneven at times, the overall experience is an emotional rollercoaster filled with twists, humor, and heartbreak. It’s easy to see why Danganronpa became a successful IP with a dedicated fanbase and continues to inspire new games and creators.

Yuiviews: Tribe Nine
Hey everyone! Firstly, thank you all for the support of the first Yuiview on Psychopomp GOLD, I'm glad I was able to convince at least one person to ruin their day with that game 💖
And speaking of life-ruining games, today I'd like to give my first impressions on Danganronpaman's not-for-very-long-latest foray into hopefully making you laugh and cry: Tribe Nine
(As of the time of this writing, I have 6 hours of gameplay and have made it about 1 third of the way onto Chapter 1, so it's less of a review and more of a first impressions)
Something very important before we start: We need to define who Danganronpaman is. You'll be hearing about them a lot.
That's the joke name my friend @neosfusion and I came up with to call the collective formed by writer Kazutaka Kodaka, artist Rui Komatsuzaki, and composer Masafumi Takada. All three of these people form Danganronpaman, and the reason we group them into one entity isn't just because each of their contributions led to Danganronpa's unique flair and style, but because the three of them would go on to work in new projects together, all of them reading, looking, and sounding extremely similar to Danganronpa.

(This is what we imagine they look like)
So far, the three of them have worked on the Danganronpa series, Rain Code, Tribe Nine, and the upcoming The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy. And because I absolutely love Danganronpa, I've been following all of their projects. They never disappoint me, so I keep trusting them with my time and money.

(They also have a good record of making me uncomfortable)
Luckily, no money is required to get into their Sports Action series Tribe Nine! All it requires is watching a 7/10 anime that barely adds context but introduces some important characters and then play a free game that's 100 times better.

(Yes, the Danganronpa similarities extend to "watch this mid anime to get the full story")
Now, fans of Danganronpaman will know that their works tend to be quite similar in a great many aspects, involving similar plots of solving mysteries, memory loss, an ensemble cast of almost always exactly 15 people all of which with unique powers/talents, a markettable mascot, a futuristic city, some sort of game with strict rules that helps figure out the truth, minigames that turn debates into action, killer robots, a maniacal mastermind, a-
(Can't wait for their next game where a group of a high schoolers get trapped inside a school! Yippeeee!!)
The Tribe Nine game fixes the lack of Memory Loss and Markettable Mascot the anime had as well as introducing a fast-paced, responsive action RPG battle style that-

...s-sorry, I got distracted for a second there. Where was I? Oh, right, the uh, the Action RPG battles are super fun! It reminds me of NEO The World Ends With You, as you can switch between the 3 playable characters that form your team to perform and extend combos that-

The uh... the... the fluid action combat that... um... surprises after entries more focused on deduction uh.... you wouldn't expect........ uh, for it to work as well as....................................

.......
...sigh. Well, there's one glaring flaw that is inescapable no matter how fun the core gameplay is. It's a gacha. And yes, that is a flaw.
"But Yui, that's not a problem for me! I like gachas!" so do I!!! I freaking love this game! And that's why this upsets me! Because every time I like a gacha game I like it despite it being gacha, not because of it! And every single time the gacha elements get in the way of the bits I like!! Elements such as:
Every single time you spend money it's temporary, as it's not a question of whether the servers will shut down, but when.
The game gets bogged down by daily, weekly, and monthly missions that you feel obligated to do cuz otherwise you're gonna be missing out on some resources you need to level up and keep the story going.
The gameplay mechanics get bogged down by having to collect a thousand different materials and currencies to give your characters the best equipment, but it's gotta be for their class, but it's gotta be the highest rarity, but also you gotta give them their favorite plushie, and also you gotta get multiple copies, and don't forget to level up their abilities, and they have a digital pet that you gotta get parts for, and don't forget the cards, and AAAAAA-
Progress and leveling will go swimmingly and extremely fast at first, and once you're invested in the story and characters you'll eventually reach an insurmountable wall that requires weeks, if not months of grinding to overcome. And once you do, get ready for your story progress to be on a slow pace until the day you stop playing.
A constant stream of new content and time-limited events mean fun and rewards if this is the only game you play, but quickly becomes an anxiety-ridden chore if you ever play like. A 2nd game. And remember, these are games you're meant to play forever, so that WILL happen.
And worst of all: if the game does well, the story is never allowed to end. If it doesn't do well, it's rushed through so as not to leave players hanging without a conclusion.

(The day I stop crying about what we lost with this game is the day I'm no longer alive)
So, that's the reason I wanted to write this review. To complain about the fact that I can't write a review. Because it doesn't matter. What's the point of me talking about how good the graphics are (they are), how fun the gameplay is (it is), and how well made all the character redesigns are (they're drippy). If I convince you to play it, all I'll be doing is pointing you at a gambling game that'll eventually die and god KNOWS if that means we'll get to see all the story that was planned.
(And if you'll be able to beat that story without requiring maxed out SSR units)
Now, it'd be dishonest of me to call this a "first impressions" and just complain about the state of live games for the whole thing, so I want to make this very clear: I really, REALLY like this game. The fighting system is fast-paced but not overwhelming. It's one of the best realizations of Danganronpaman's art style and designs in 3d, looking sharper and better than previous attempts like Ultra Despair Girls and Rain Code. It's full of personality, love, and care in every corner. The quality of illustrations in the cards you get are fantastic. The story beats are meaningful and impactful from minute 1. The voice acting is great, the lightning is great, the music is great, the gameplay is great, everything about this game is REALLY GOOD! When it comes to free gacha games, this is one of the best ones available.

(I don't care for the tamagochi system having a bunch of minute micromanaging with tiny little bonuses that you gotta hand-pick - but I LOVE that each character has a unique animation and pose for showing it to you)
However, recommending a gacha game is like recommending poison. I can talk all day about how earthy the flavour is, how the way it tastes totally covers the cyanide, and how it kills you way faster and less painfully than those OTHER poisons... but it's still poison.

("This one has a pity mechanic after 20 rolls!")
If you're the kind of person that can get invested in a game while accepting the crushing reality that it will become COMPLETELY unplayable some day, that over time you'll probably spend more money on skins than you would've on a whole new game, and that can resist the constant urge to gamble because "well I'm having fun anyway I might as well spend some money on something I enjoy cuz after all I work hard and I spend my money on things that make me happy- oops there go $200 dollars. And I didn't even get the character I wanted", then yes, Tribe Nine is good tasting poison. But be aware of what you're getting into.

("You win this time... but once I get my next paycheck you WILL give me the summer variant of my fave!")
Personally, I'll keep playing it. I really enjoy the story and characters, and I'll willingly expose myself to inevitable heartbreak, because Danganronpaman hasn't disappointed me before, and I'm holding tightly onto the hope that this won't be the first time. But as much as I want to see these creators succeed, I can't really recommend you do the same. The sadness of permanently losing something meaningful to you is usually not worth it.

(AN OFFLINE VERSION! A MANGA ADAPTATION! A SHOUTOUT IN THE NEXT GAME! ANYTHING JUST GIVE ME ANYTHIIIING)
So who knows what the future holds for Tribe Nine. A lot of it will depend on how well the game performs, so there's no true way of knowing other than waiting. Hopefully in around 4 years time I can come back with a part 2 of this review that's titled something among the lines of "Tribe Nine - Why Some Gachas Are Worth Your Time" and not like "Tribe Nine - And Why The Current Gaming Landscape Needs To Be Burned Down And Restarted From Scratch"
(For some reason, I'm not super hopeful it'll be the former)

Autistic Anime Boys Prelims - Propaganda Division - Group 4

Propaganda:
Natsuki -
"He has a flat affect, especially towards the start of the series, and a strong special interest in fishing. He does not get along with Haru and Yuki at first because he doesn't think they are taking fishing seriously, but after seeing Yuki's drive to improve and growing appreciation for his interest, he warms up to them and develops, what seems to be, the first close friendships he 's had. As the boys learn to fish, he is the source of most of the very specific fishing knowledge in the series, and after the show is finished we see that he has moved overseas to continue pursuing his special interest."
Luca -
*okay I screwed up, this submission didn't have propaganda. It WAS marked 'yes' for propaganda use though, which is where the confusion came from. At this point I'm too tired to move the bracket around though, so Luca's just gonna stay here.
Adrian -
"Not a full time boy (but a boy nonetheless, bigender icon fr) but working autism overtime."
Rui -
"aside from being an adorable piano genius with the voice of an angel? he grew up sheltered and doesn't have a lot of physical stamina but he does his best to become an idol (rescuing his own black kitten along the way) and is officially considered the most cat-like in his unit. he will eat your pudding. also he grows up! he used to be like fifteen and now he's 26?!"
Hikaru -
"He's shown to have difficulty emoting since childhood. In a particular episode, a mother comes to him to alter her child's brain and remove the parts of him that make him difficult to handle. It is heavily implied that the things she wants removed is autism and Hikaru is more upset about this than most other things in the series but seems to understand that acceptance for people like him and the kid is few and far between. He also says things that could be considered rude when it comes to situations where people ask him to alter who they are as people, such as when a friend asks him to change her sexuality so that she's straight and doesn't have to suffer heartbreak anymore."
Rei -
"AUTISTIC ICON!!!!! just like. look at him. look at that one face he makes all the time. it's hard for me to name specific examples other than the obvious fixation on shoji and like general lack of social skills because i haven't gone through the whole thing in so long but there's soooo much there. i might be talking out of my ass but it's also like? such a sensorily focused story (both the anime and manga). he could even be considered a sports anime boy if you just believed ❤️ or something ‼️"
Vayne -
"Relies on his pet cat for social cues, because the cat is better at them. The saddest, most gentle boy to ever wield a cat-sword-gauntlet. Absolutely listens to all of his friends' infodumps with infinite love and interest. Completely oblivious to how everyone in his workshop adores him by the end of the game."
Ganta -
"he has insomnia (frequently comorbid with autism). once he gains an interest in astrophotography it becomes a special interest very quickly. he's sweet and kind but also gets annoyed easily and he rides a bike and works at an arcade and wants to be a nurse and he loves his girlfriend isaki so so much"
Aoi -
"He has a very devoted special interest in the idol Takada-chan, which he frequently imagines in fights and other situations… the moment someone (Itadori) expresses equal interest in something he is passionate about, he immediately declares them besties and brothers and creates a whole elaborate shared history for them that doesn’t actually exist. He’s not really interested in connecting with people who don’t share his interests. He’s seen as somewhat strange and eccentric. Though in the present he is respected because of his strength as a sorcerer, as a child he was very isolated."
Ray -
"Due to his extremely strong memory, Ray is forced to grow up faster than his best friends and gives himself up as a lost cause in hopes of saving them. He is very sharp and smart but has massive blind spots when it comes to trusting and considering others."

What's your reaction to "The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy" announcement trailer?
Sorry for the late answer! I'm glad you asked, because it's exactly what I wanted to talk about.
First of all, the timing of the announcement was not surprising to me, as Kodaka had given the impression on his X account that they would be announcing a new title soon, and when the trailer started on the Nintendo Direct, I immediately realized that this was the title he had been talking about all along.
However, I was surprised that it was a "school" story after all, and I thought again that the content of Danganronpa V3 was full of what they wanted to do. When I finished DRV3, I think it had a lot of different elements in a good way, but at the same time, it felt chaotic. I got the feeling that they no longer hesitated to cram in various elements without explaining anything. For example, there's no reason in Shuichi suddenly driving during the trial, there's no reason in the cornered criminal suddenly doing something like cosplay, and even though Tsumugi explained it's all Danganronpa cosplay in the final trial, there are facilities (such as the casino and the love hotel) that don't exist in Danganronpa. I know the reason for the various inconsistencies in the whole thing is that there are some lies hidden somewhere, but I think originally each of those elements was something they wanted to do more deeply. I also felt that when I played RAIN CODE, I felt that the Reasoning Death Matches were a totally improved version of the Argument Armament in V3, and the fact that the protagonist is a detective and the idea that solving mysteries can sometimes lead to misfortune is similar to V3 as well. Going back to The Hundred Line, the setting of this school is very similar to V3. Thus my first impression of the announcement trailer was that what they wanted to do had not changed much since V3.
By the way, the school uniform is similar to the Amaterasu Corporation uniform from RAIN CODE, and Shinigami and SIREI are clearly similar, so it seems like they're not hesitating to repeat what they've done before, but Kodaka says they've packed in what they want to do in this game, so I think it's good that their direction is consistent.
Well, to be honest, I'm a little confused right now. Although I don't have such an opinion, there were a lot of people in RAIN CODE reviews and X comments who said that if they wanted to make a game that was so similar to Danganronpa, they should have just made a sequel to Danganronpa. I thought maybe they wanted to make a more free-form game and break out of that mold, but in the end, the main characters of The Hundred Line are students and can't leave school, so I'm starting to think that maybe they wanted to make Danganronpa-like game after all, and that confuses me. But I also think it could be that they're trying to trick their fans into thinking that, so maybe it's right to think that way (in other words, just like they hoped 😄).
In any case, I have already decided to buy this game. I'm not sure what it will be like, but at least it was announced that Masafumi Takada is the audio director, so I'll definitely buy it because I'll definitely be able to listen to his new song, which is worth it to me. Of course, I'm also looking forward to the art of Rui Komatsuzaki and Shimadoriru! I'm just happy to be able to see their new art. 😊✨
The way I'm talking may make it seem like I don't have high expectations for Kodaka's scenario, but I don't really know what kind of scenarios Uchikoshi writes, and also Kodaka said in an interview that he hired a new writer for this title, so I lowered my expectations a bit.
So if anyone reading this is planning to buy The Hundred Line, let's look forward to its release together! 🙌
Thank you for asking! 💖

Wait Kodaka and Uchikoshi are making a new game together?
They are indeed my good fellow! May I introduce you to The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy? It's currently set to be released in 'early 2025' and has been teased to be a mixture of a visual novel and strategy RPG, something akin to Fire Emblem perhaps (I've only played Three Houses with friends so I'm not the most credible source for accuracy on that). Rui Komatsuzaki is the lead character designer and Masafumi Takada is the music composer. As a short synopsis of the proposed plot, the lead character Takumi Sumino and his childhood friend are suddenly attacked and his friend dies, but Takumi is saved by some weird anthropomorphic egg thing. This egg is one of the mascots of a school that trains its students to become soldiers given a duty to defend it from enemy attacks. 15 other students are trapped here with Takumi, so he must fight to survive alongside his new teammates as death looms over them all.
The game boasts about having 100 different endings, but the differences--however minute or drastic--between each ending is unknown. I assume most endings will depend on who lives or dies in each playthrough, as their survivability could fall upon the responsibility of the player. More information is yet to be revealed.

my MDA:Rain Code thoughts - spoiler free version
I've been meaning to thought dump my overall thoughts and opinions about rain code for a while and well,, here we are!
my overall opinions: Despite some issues, Rain Code acts as a great foundation that can be built upon in the future - along with plot threads that can be used in future games. If your a danganronpa fan I would totally recommend it, but its a bit of a harder sell to those outside the bubble.
I have already done another form of this kinda post with everything i deemed to be somewhat spoilery - whether that be full on plot twists and story events in specific chapters or simple side content. For anyone who wants to read the spoiler version i'll link it here!
onto the list!:
to try to keep to some order, i've orginised the points into gameplay/mechanics, story and characters
Masafumi Takada was let out of the basement and has made yet another banging ost, is there no stop to this man? The title theme RAINCODE?? HELLO?? what i liked was that there are moments in which you can hear dangan elements; such as during the investigation theme you can hear trumpets which personally reminded me of sdr2's investigation theme and bella fresco grand finale - shinigami's execution theme - there are parts that sound like the execution theme. Despite all these dangan references (which im sure there are more) Raincode has been able to carve out its own vibe musically and im all here for this more low-key, lo-fi kinda feel!
Rui Komatsuzaki is back and the characters have that distinct design flair and eccentricity i expect from him. I have to say his designs are partly what drew me into Raincode because, well,,, his style is so recognisable!! it also is somewhat nostalgic for me so my neurons activate when i see it. I am but a simple man that enjoys this rui style.
Personally, Kodaka defiantly did not utilise this being a 3D adventure game enough because at points it just felt like visual novel taking place within a 3D space. And the adventure part i believe is quite the misnomer - it can be super restrictive in its exploration, theres not much to do/see within the city itself other than the requests - which are more of a story than gameplay thing. Though the adventure/action descriptors for the game are for the mystery labyrinth, it can make kanai ward itself feel more like a vehicle (gameplay wise) to get you from one case to the next. Kanai ward is stunning though, with kamasaki district being my favourite part!!
I also found that the mystery labyrinths got boring at inbetween all the minigames - consisting of running to the next part whilst the characters discus the case. In danganronpa, these moments of discussion were unnoticeable due to being a visual novel but within a 3D action/adventure-esque game like Rain Code they don't work.
Being outside of the killing game formula with supernatural abilities, Kodaka has been able to do some really interesting things with cases. If there are future games i'm curious if he'll set up a pattern of cases like in danganronpa.
I DID NOT EXPECT ALOT OF THE PLOT TWISTS, one of which only works well if you've played danganronpa in my opinion. Another one didn't have build up, but i can't tell if its a im just dense thing or a it was just a shit twist thing
Quirky ahh characters my beloved - most major characters stood out and had their moments. They join the Kodaka pile of eccenticity
I am a HUGE Yomi stannie, he is delightfully evil and his VA was going absolutely ham. shout out to Howard Wang! He is evil and there is no changing him and i love him for it!
other than him and martina i found the peacekeepers to be a little disappointing. They did what they were needed to but most are susceptible to leaving little impression on people. Which is not good as they are your major obstacle in a chapter. the majority of them have under 30~ mins of screen time [that is a rough estimate, most likely im wildly wrong] though they didn't need to have backstories or anything, them being a constant presence through investigation might've helped.
YAKOU MY LOVE <3<3<3<3<3<3 he is a soggy, wet cat of a character and sooooo pathetic!!! my kinda guy
Now i like fubuki as much as the next guy but i found that she would go one of the funniest characters of the cast to

Milan is Italy's fashion capital. Most of the older Italian couturiers are in Rome. However, Milan and Florence are the Italian fashion capitals, and it is the exhibition venue for their collections. Italian fashion features casual and glamorous elegance. In Italy, Milan Fashion Week takes place twice a year in February and September. Milan Fashion week puts fashion in the spotlight and celebrates it in the heart of Milan with fashion lovers, buyers and media.
Japan
[edit]
Most Japanese fashion houses are in Tokyo which is home to Tokyo Fashion Week, Asia's largest fashion week. The Japanese look is loose and unstructured (often resulting from complicated cutting), colors tend to the sombre and subtle, and richly textured fabrics. Famous Japanese designers include Kenzo Takada, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo.
China
[edit]
Chinese clothing has historically been associated with lower quality both inside and outside China, leading to a stigma on Chinese brands. Due to government censorship, Chinese citizens were only able to access fashion magazines in the 1990s.[26] However, as more and more Chinese designers matriculate from the world's top fashion schools, Chinese designers such as Shushu/Tong and Rui Zhou have made their way into the world's top fashion weeks, and Shanghai has become a fashion hub in China.[27][26] In the early 2020s, Gen Z shoppers pioneered the guochao (Chinese: 国潮; pinyin: Guó cháo) movement, a trend of preferring homegrown designers which incorporate aspects of Chinese history and culture.[27] Hong Kong clothing brand Shanghai Tang's design concept is inspired by Chinese clothing and set out to rejuvenate Chinese fashion of the 1920s and 30s, with a modern twist of the 21st century and its usage of bright colours.[28] Additionally, a revival in interest in traditional Han clothing has led to interest in haute couture clothing with historical Chinese details, particularly around Chinese New Year.[29]
Soviet Union
[edit]
Main article: Fashion in the Soviet Union
Fashion in the Soviet Union largely followed general trends of the Western world. However, the state's socialist ideology consistently moderated and influenced these trends. In addition, shortages of consumer goods meant that the general public did not have ready access to pre-made fashion.
Switzerland
[edit]
Most of the Swiss fashion houses are in Zürich.[30] The Swiss look is casual elegant and luxurious with a slight touch of quirkiness. Additionally, it has been greatly influenced by the dance club scene.
Mexico
[edit]
In the development of Mexican indigenous dress, the fabrication was determined by the materials and resources that are available in specific regions, impacting the "fabric, shape and construction of a people's clothing".[31] Textiles were created from plant fibers including cotton and agave. Class status differentiated what fabric was worn. Mexican dress was influenced by geometric shapes to create the silhouettes. Huipil a blouse characterized by a "loose, sleeveless tunic made of two or three joined webs of cloth sewn lengthwise"[31] is an important historical garment, often seen today. After the Spanish Conquest, traditional Mexican clothing shifted to take a Spanish resemblance.
Mexican indigenous groups rely on specific embroidery and colors to differentiate themselves from each other.[32]
Mexican Pink is a significant color to the identity of Mexican art and design and general spirit. The term "Rosa Mexicano" as described by Ramón Valdiosera was established by prominent figures such as Dolores del Río and designer Ramón Val in New York.[32]
When newspapers and magazines such as El Imparcial and El Mundo Ilustrado circulated in Mexico, became a significant movement, as it informed the large cities, such as Mexico City, of European fashions. This encouraged the founding of department stores, changing the existent pace of fashion.[33] With access to European fashion and dress, those with high social status relied on adopting those elements to distinguish themselves from the rest. Juana Catarina Romero was a successful entrepreneur and pioneer in this movement.
Fashion design terms
[edit]
A fashion designer conceives garment combinations of line, proportion, color, and texture. While sewing and pattern-making skills are beneficial, they are not a pre-requisite of successful fashion design. Most fashion designers are formally trained or apprenticed.
A technical designer works with the design team and the factories overseas to ensure correct garment construction, appropriate fabric choices and a good fit. The technical designer fits the garment samples on a fit model, and decides which fit and construction changes to make before mass-producing the garment.
A pattern maker (also referred as pattern master or pattern cutter) drafts the shapes and sizes of a garment's pieces. This may be done manually with paper and measuring tools or by using a CAD computer software program. Another method is to drape fabric directly onto a dress form. The resulting pattern pieces can be constructed to produce the intended design of the garment and required size. Formal training is usually required for working as a pattern marker.
A tailor makes custom designed garments made to the client's measure; especially suits (coat and trousers, jacket and skirt, et cetera). Tailors usually undergo an apprenticeship or other formal training.
A textile designer designs fabric weaves and prints for clothes and furnishings. Most textile designers are formally trained as apprentices and in school.
A stylist co-ordinates the clothes, jewelry, and accessories used in fashion photography and catwalk presentations. A stylist may also work with an individual client to design a coordinated wardrobe of garments. Many stylists are trained in fashion design, the history of fashion, and historical costume, and have a high level of expertise in the current fashion market and future market trends. However, some simply have a strong aesthetic sense for pulling great looks together.
A fashion buyer selects and buys the mix of clothing available in retail shops, department stores, and chain stores. Most fashion buyers are trained in business and/or fashion studies.
A seamstress sews ready-to-wear or mass-produced clothing by hand or with a sewing machine, either in a garment shop or as a sewing machine operator in a factory. She (or he) may not have the skills to make (design and cut) the garments, or to fit them on a model.
A dressmaker specializes in custom-made women's clothes: day, cocktail, and evening dresses, business clothes and suits, trousseaus, sports clothes, and lingerie.
A fashion forecaster predicts what colours, styles and shapes will be popular ("on-trend") before the garments are on sale in stores.
A model wears and displays clothes at fashion shows and in photographs.
A fit model aids the fashion designer by wearing and commenting on the fit of clothes during their design and pre-manufacture. Fit models need to be a particular size for this purpose.
A fashion journalist writes fashion articles describing the garments presented or fashion trends, for magazines or newspapers.
A fashion photographer produces photographs about garments and other fashion items along with models and stylists for magazines or advertising agencies.
