Side-scrolling run-and-gun shooting action game PROJECT TACHYON will launch for PC via Steam on February 14 for 2,400 yen, publisher HIKE and developer STUDIO N9 announced. It will support English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options.

Story

Switch up your combat style with an array of weapons that can be randomly obtained at certain stages.

Deal with your enemies strategically by adapting to each situation—use an electric saw that slices incoming bullets or an acid sprayer to weaken the enemy’s defense.

Find an efficient route to navigate the map that varies every time you play.

You can save your stamina to challenge the boss, or take on more risks for a greater payout. It is your choice.

WSS playground will host WSS Direct 2025 on January 21 at 4:00 a.m. PT / 7:00 a.m. ET / 21:00 JST, the company announced. You will be able to watch it on YouTube (English, Japanese).

The broadcast will feature the latest information, updates, and more on new and recently released titles from WSS playground.

WSS playground released Blade Chimera for Switch and PC via Steam on January 16, and the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD are due out on January 21. Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising DLC character Sandalphon launches February 26 - Gematsu

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising downloadable content character Sandalphon will launch on February 26 for $7.99 as the first character of Character Pass 2, publisher Cygames and developer Arc System Works announced.

Additional Character Pass 2 characters are planned for release in spring 2025, summer 2025, fall 2025, and early 2026.

Gemdrops announces hololive Holo’s Hanafuda for PC - Gematsu

Gemdrops has announced hololive Holo’s Hanafuda, a hanafuda game with online support featuring hololive members. It will launch for PC via Steam in 2025 with English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, and Indonesian language support. It will also be playable at Taipei Game Show 2025, which will run from January 23 to 26 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

hololive Holo’s Hanafuda is a modern take on the classic Japanese card game, hanafuda. In hololive Holo’s Hanafuda, you can battle it out with cards that feature original hololive member art! Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero demo now available in the west - Gematsu

Following its release in Japan in December 2024, the demo for Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is now available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch in the west, publisher NIS America announced.

The demo features the first two chapters of the full game, and save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game when it launches.

In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, the story follows Marona���a gifted young girl with the power to speak to Phantoms—as she traverses the ocean world of Ivoire, providing aid to those in need. Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO DLC pack ‘Hero of Justice’ announced - Gematsu

Publisher Bandai Namco and developer Spike Chunsoft have announced Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO‘s first downloadable content pack, “Hero of Justice,” which adds 11 new playable characters, one costume, and three custom battles. It will launch for Season Pass holders on January 20, and for everyone else on January 23.

The new playable characters include Gohan (SH) and variants, Piccolo (SH) and variants, Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and Cell Max.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.

Edia licenses nine classic titles to Shinyuden for release on modern platforms, starting with Final Zone - Gematsu

Edia has licensed nine titles to Shinyuden for release on modern platforms, starting with the release of Final Zone for Switch on January 17, followed shortly by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, the companies announced.

The nine titles licensed out to Shinyuden are as follows:

According to Edia, it licensed its owned titles to Shinyuden in order to expand its services to western markets where retro games have recently grown in popularity. Edia is also considering plans to sell reprints and remodeled versions of retro game titles from its catalog of 139 former Telenet Japan titles.
